ary Ferrer and his folklórico dance troupe El Ballet de Gary Ferrer, formerly known as St. John’s Angels, are gearing up for their regional Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) tour. Upcoming dates for performances are: October 26 - Plaza Olvera October 27 - Forest Lawn Covina November 1 - South Park Los Angeles November 2 - Riverside Downtown November 3 - 30-year anniversary Alex El Genio Lucas, Toro Wapo Perris Now that he has his own dance studio, Gary set up a Día de los Muertos ofrenda (altar) for the community to provide them the opportunity to memorialize and honor loved ones who have passed. iterary options expanded for Kimbark Elementary School students with the installation of a book vending machine - the first of its kind in the San Bernardino City Unified School District. PTO President Amanda Manzano unveiled the machine on Wednesday, Oct. 16 in the school’s lobby amid school and district officials, teachers, staff, parents and select students from each grade. Each student took turns inserting a token and making their literary selection. Books are for students to keep. Kimbark Principal Mario Jacquez came across the vending machine on-line, and was positive it would be a great fit for the school. “I realized not everyone has books at home and making sure Literacy, cont. on next pg.
