“Tarzan” swings onto Redlands Bowl stage By Yazmin Alvarez
S
wing on over to the Redlands Bowl this week for performances of Disney’s “Tarzan” Thursday through Sunday at the Redlands Bowl. Dozens filled seats at the Bowl Tuesday evening for a public dress rehearsal of the Disneybased musical adventure featuring music composed by Phil Collins, and more crowds are expected for the upcoming 8 p.m. shows, according to Bowl representatives. Arrive early as reservations of seating space with blankets is not permitted, according to the Bowl. Seating can be reserved as long as space is not left unattended. For younger audiences wanting to get up close with Tarzan cast members, learn songs and sing along to some of the stage hits, the Bowl’s Children’s Music Festival Workshops offer just that. he Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater RedlandsRiverside is holding a drive to support local youth – particularly those from lowincome backgrounds -- as they return to school. The Club is accepting donations of school supplies at: -Redlands City Hall – city clerk’s office and municipal utilities and engineering department, 35 Cajon St., -Redlands Community Center and Community Senior Center, 111 W. Lugonia Ave., -Boys & Girls Club Hansberger Clubhouse, 1251 Clay St., Redlands; and -Gap, 27461 San Bernardino Ave., Redlands (Mountain Grove); 1 Mills Circle, Ontario (Ontario Mills); and 12558 N. Main St., Rancho Cucamonga (Victoria Gardens) Gap is taking donations until July 31 and the other locations will accept donations until Aug. 11. Those who donate at Gap will get 10% off their entire purchase. Items that can be donated: New backpacks, pens (blue or black), pencils, notebooks, 3ring binders, folders, pencil sharpeners and more. Additionally, shoppers at Old Navy stores in Redlands, Riverside, Corona, Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario can donate funds to the Club and get a $5 coupon July 27-Aug. 7.
