O
n June 9, the San Bernardino County Board of Supervisors declared racism a public health crisis during its regularly scheduled meeting. “Today we are directing staff to prepare a resolution acknowledging that racism is a public health crisis, which results in societal concerns and may result in measurable detriments to persons and communities of color in the delivery of and access to wellness, economic development and opportunity, public safety, housing, and education,” said Leonard Hernandez, County Chief Operating Officer.

n an effort to continue improving and providing better transparency and accountability for ratepayers, the West Valley Water District (WVWD) Board of Directors approved the selection of The Pun Group, LLP as a certified public accountant to audit its finances and ensure compliance for the next three fiscal years. Director Dr. Clifford Young stated, “This is an additional step we are taking in our reform measures by making certain we seek competitive proposals from wellqualified and experienced firms. I look forward to making the final report available to our ratepayers for their review.” WVWD selected The Pun Group to audit the agency’s financial statements for the fiscal years ending June 30, 2020, June 30, 2021 and June 30, 2022. The firm is charged with providing an opinion on WVWD financial statements and keeping board members and management updated with best practices and WVWD, cont. on next pg.
