In Zulu Nokuthula is a girl name meaning Peace. A symbolic call for change seeking to address the justice system in South Africa- its despondency and perpetuation of GBV Femicide. Where do we find peace if not in those that are meant to protect us?

Two rival bands clash in a heated musical battle. As tensions peak, they are forced to collaborate. Through a shared musical dialogue, they blend their styles and create a powerful, harmonious symphony.

2024 SIR PETER USTINOV TELEVISION SCRIPTWRITING AWARD

The Sir Peter Ustinov Television Scriptwriting Award is designed to motivate novice writers worldwide, and offer them the recognition and encouragement that might lead to a successful career in television scriptwriting. Entrants are asked to create a completed half-hour to onehour English language television drama script.

This year’s winner, from France, is Ornella Ohayon for her script, Each Other’s Keepers.

Born and raised in Paris, Ornella is a screenwriter and playwright who specializes in characterdriven stories. She explores the themes of identity, religion, morality, family dynamics, gender roles, sex and love. Her favorite thing to do is to travel the world, meet locals and listen to their stories. This often is the source of her writing. Ornella also draws inspiration from her own experiences like growing up in the Jewish community of Paris or playing highly competitive sports. She has been a finalist in the Atlanta Film Festival, the Los Angeles Filmmatic Comedy Awards, Screencraft Comedy and Drama, the Kenneth Branagh Awards for New Drama Writing and the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival. Her play What Comes After Sorrow received an Honor Award in the Writer’s Digest and was published as part of an anthology of plays at Barnes & Noble. The book was launched in New York City’s iconic Drama Book Shop and was mentioned in Broadway World. Ornella is a proud member of the Dramatist Guild of America.

When Abbi, a Jewish Orthodox young woman, is given an ultimatum by her family to marry a boy she doesn’t love or move out, she finds solace in Billie, a struggling LA actress who offers her a place to stay in exchange for Abbi’s writing talent.

THE INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY WISHES TO THANK

This Summer, the Semi-Final Round of Judging for the 2024 International Emmy® Awards competition took place mostly in person.

From June to September, 34 member companies hosted Jury panels. Our Hosts spanned 20 countries:

Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Germany, India, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, United Arab Emirates and the United States.

The remote judgings were powered by Frame.io, the video review and collaboration platform.

Semi-Final Rounds of Judging are not only a crucial step in the judging process, but also a great networking opportunity for the Host, and for Jurors invited to participate in the competition. Jurors, selected by the Academy in collaboration with the Host, are television professionals involved in all sectors of the industry. Hosts have the opportunity to choose from two options: to organize a judging with sole branding for their company or to have outside sponsors for their event and become an International Emmy® World Television Festival Sponsor.
