WELCOME FROM THE PRESIDENT
As the world shrinks the International Academy and its International Emmy® grow in appeal and importance. You may have noticed that an increasing number of streaming programs were not produced in the United States. They were developed and produced in other countries all over the world, which makes them eligible for our international competition. This year, the Gala is the culmination of a year long process in which television programs in 14 different categories were entered and, if they survived initial rounds, were judged in 20 countries around the world in the semifinals. Increasingly, this Gala and International Emmy® World Television Festival, which took place over the past weekend, could give a diligent viewer a very good idea of the state and growth of quality television programming around the world. The bottom line is that it’s growing by leaps and bounds.
The Gala is also an opportunity to present special awards to individuals who have made a difference in our business. That can certainly be said of the recipient of this year’s Founders Emmy®, David E. Kelley. Since LA Law and Ally McBeal, David has been creating great television for so many years that there is not a generation of viewers that doesn’t have a favorite David E. Kelley show. Our Directorate Emmy® will be presented to Sidonie Dumas who has run Gaumont in France for many years and turned it into an international programming powerhouse.
The International Emmy® Gala has become a major event on the annual television calendar. We welcome you to tonight’s edition.

2024 GALA CHAIR
NARENDRA REDDY --- AFRICA CHANNEL COO
Narendra Reddy is Chief Operating Officer at The Africa Channel. In this position, he is responsible for providing oversight for all aspects of the company including the Television Network (The Africa Channel), OTT/SVOD/FAST (Demand Africa) and Content Acquisition and Production (TAC Studios) divisions for the Enterprise. The company, based in Los Angeles, is focused on presenting a holistic narrative and building bridges between Africa and the rest of the world through media and entertainment.
He has worked over 25 years in global media with responsibilities that cover virtually every aspect of the industry, including Creative Development, Production, Marketing, Business Development and Corporate functions. Previously he was the General Manager for DreamWorks Animation India and responsible for running a satellite Animation Studio with over 250 Animation artists while evolving their skills to be on par with their counterparts in the United States. During his tenure the Studio was responsible for the production of several of DreamWorks Animation’s major releases including Puss in Boots, Rise of the Guardians, Madagascar 3 among others. Prior to that Reddy had an over 10-year stint at NBC Universal including International Sales, Development of Comedy, Drama, Reality and Specials culminating in the role of Vice President, Programming & Development, where he shaped the Kids and Family programming strategy for the company. During his tenure he was instrumental in the launch and re-branding of ION Media Networks and the Kids network QUBO which were joint ventures between NBC Universal and several partners.
Reddy graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in production engineering from Anna University in Chennai, India. He later completed an advanced certificated program in film, television and digital entertainment at UCLA — with a specialization in directing.

SIDONIE DUMAS --- GAUMONT CEO
The special Emmy® is presented to Dumas for her remarkable career and vision at the helm of the Paris based television & film production group behind global hits Narcos & Lupin.
Dumas is a trailblazer in the international television and film industry. At the helm of the world’s oldest film and television production company, founded in 1895 and recognized by its iconic daisy logo. She has expertly guided Gaumont into a new era of success as it approaches its 130th anniversary in 2025.
Her visionary leadership has not only ensured the preservation of Gaumont’s rich cinematic heritage, including the restoration of classics but has also propelled the company to unprecedented heights in the television landscape. Over the past decade, she has spearheaded Gaumont’s global expansion, establishing a strong presence in key markets such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and Italy. While maintaining a robust production slate for French cinema, Dumas has significantly expanded Gaumont’s television production, creating acclaimed series for major streaming platforms and television channels worldwide.
A champion of innovative storytelling, Dumas has been instrumental in Gaumont’s successful foray into diverse television formats and genres. Her leadership has resulted in a string of critically acclaimed and commercially successful series, including NBC’s Hannibal, Netflix’s Emmynominated Narcos, the groundbreaking Lupin (the first French series to break into Netflix’s US Top 10), Prime Video’s Totems, Apple TV+’s Stillwater, and Disney+’s Becoming Karl Lagerfeld.
Dumas’ unwavering commitment to high standards and creative excellence, paired with the dedication of her talented teams, has positioned Gaumont as a leader in the ever-evolving television industry.

DAVID E. KELLEY --- WRITER & PRODUCER
The special Emmy® is presented to Kelley the prolific writer and producer behind iconic shows such Ally McBeal, L.A. Law and Boston Legal, to Big Little Lies, The Lincoln Lawyer and this year’s critical and audience hit series Presumed Innocent.
As an award-winning writer and producer, Kelley is the creative mind behind some of America’s most groundbreaking and distinctive television dramas, addressing contemporary issues including social justice, diversity, and privilege. He is the creator of the Emmy®, Peabody, and Golden Globe Awardwinning shows Boston Legal, The Practice and Ally McBeal, and the Award-winning and acclaimed Big Little Lies (Emmy®, Golden Globe), Boston Public (Emmy®, Peabody), Chicago Hope (Emmy®, Golden Globe) and Picket Fences (Emmy®, Golden Globe). To date, Kelley is the only Producer to ever win the Emmy® Award for Outstanding Comedy and Outstanding Drama, Ally McBeal and The Practice, respectively, in the same year (1999).
This year, Kelley produced Presumed Innocent, which held the top spot on AppleTV+, and Netflix’s A Man in Full, which reached #1 among the streamer’s Top 10 most-watched shows in the U.S. Kelley has also created multiple #1 shows across various streaming platforms in recent years, including Nine Perfect Strangers, The Undoing and Love & Death. His first documentary project, Hope in the Water, featuring Martha Stewart and Shailene Woodley, premiered earlier this year on PBS. Up next, Kelley is producing Margo’s Got Money Troubles for Apple TV+, starring Elle Fanning and Nicole Kidman alongside Kelley’s wife Michelle Pfeiffer and the second season of both Nine Perfect Strangers and Presumed Innocent. Before venturing into the world of entertainment, Kelley practiced law in Boston. While still an attorney, he wrote the feature film From the Hip, which caught the attention of L.A. Law co-creator Steven Bochco. In addition to his remarkable television career, Kelley is the founder of Riverence, the largest grower of steelhead and rainbow trout in North America.

Das is a world-renowned stand-up comedian and a Bollywood star. He is currently on his international Mind Fool tour, where he is stopping in countries on every continent except Antarctica. This is his most international tour yet bringing him to iconic venues spanning from Carnegie Hall in New York City to the Esplanade in Singapore to the Dubai Opera in the UAE and the Sydney Opera House in Australia. In addition to his success on the stand-up comedy stage, Das has created, produced, and starred in multiple series, including the ABC spy drama-comedy Whiskey Cavalier, the thriller Hasmokh for Netflix, and the travel show Jestination Unknown for Amazon. He starred in Judd Apatow’s Netflix feature The Bubble and is currently developing his own single-camera comedy with CBS Studios and Andy Samberg. Beyond his comedic and acting chops, Das is also the lead singer for India’s comedy-rock band Alien Chutney.
Das’s fourth and most recent Netflix comedy special Landing earned him a 2023 International Emmy® win for Comedy, his first win and second nomination. His previous Netflix special Vir Das: For India was nominated for a 2021 International Emmy® for Comedy as well. Landing, which Das also directed, is a story about freedom, foolishness, the west, the east, the notion of home, and what it means to be a citizen of one nation in a global world.

This Summer, the Semi-Final Round of Judging for the 2024 International Emmy® Awards competition took place mostly in person.
From June to September, 34 member companies hosted Jury panels. Our Hosts spanned 20 countries:
Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Croatia, Denmark, Greece, Germany, India, Mexico, Norway, Poland, Portugal, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, United Arab Emirates and the United States.
The remote judgings were powered by Frame.io, the video review and collaboration platform.
Semi-Final Rounds of Judging are not only a crucial step in the judging process, but also a great networking opportunity for the Host, and for Jurors invited to participate in the competition. Jurors, selected by the Academy in collaboration with the Host, are television professionals involved in all sectors of the industry. Hosts have the opportunity to choose from two options : to organize a judging with sole branding for their company or to have outside sponsors for their event and become an International Emmy® World Television Festival Sponsor.
