Welcome to the BASF refinish magazine GLOSS. Welcome to our third issue of GLOSS magazine. There have been a number of key changes that have taken place in our organisation since the launch of the last GLOSS magazine with the integration of BASF Coatings Australia Pty Ltd into BASF Australia Ltd, allowing us to leverage on the strengths of the two entities to continue to provide high levels of service. This issue of GLOSS will profile some exciting new initiatives that we have developed based on feedback from the marketplace. The continued rollout of 90 Line waterborne technology to the market is gaining momentum and is acting as a catalyst for change across Australia and New Zealand. We meet some of the most recent converts to 90 Line and hear about the positive effects that the change has had on their business and their bottom line. We also introduce you to the latest Colour Education courses that Glasurit has developed to facilitate quick and accurate colour matching in your Bodyshop. Our Access conference was held in Thailand in March and proved once again that it is a valuable part of our support programs. With a talented line up of speakers, the launch of new Glasurit marketing programs and of course a full entertainment agenda and networking opportunities, the event was an unmitigated success. Feedback to date has been extremely positive and we look forward to sharing the details of future events shortly. I hope you enjoy the read as much as we enjoy producing GLOSS. We get to meet and profile so many interesting businesses, as well as provide updates on all of the latest technology overseas. In this issue we are profiling the first in a series of A2 sized display posters featuring unique ways that Glasurit has been used. This will be a regular feature of GLOSS in issues to come. If you have any further questions or feedback please contact us on (02) 8787 0100.

In March of this year BASF Australia and New Zealand and its Distributors, turned their planning and imagination into reality with the staging of the second Glasurit Access Conference. After the highly successful New Zealand Conference in 2007, the pressure was on to stage another memorable and thought provoking event. The luxury JW Marriott Resort in Phuket, certainly proved to be the perfect venue for five days of business conferences, networking, and, of course, some fun. The conference theme, ‘Market Forces and Your Business’ was “an unqualified success.” Mr Ian Wilkinson, Business Director, Coatings BASF Australia said. “The delegates, all part of the ‘Access Support Program,’ were given plenty of opportunities to learn and network with their industry peers.” With the aid of a range of top line global and Australian speakers, the objectives of the conference were to expose Glasurit customers to the current market forces that are operating and to identify potential threats, which were demonstrated by outlining the UK Bodyshop experience, which has seen dramatic change and rationalisation over the past five years. THE SESSIONS & SPEAKERS BRETT RUTLEDGE Brett Rutledge, a dynamic business speaker, facilitator and coach, introduced the business sessions, setting the tone for the whole conference with his versatile, often entertaining manner. Brett also ran a workshop on effective communication skills and in it provided the delegates with an insight as to how they could become more effective by using the three channels of communication the Factual, Emotional and Symbolic. The panel of Global speakers was outstanding, commencing with a keynote address by Heather Swann, titled “No Ceiling.” HEATHER SWANN Heather, a mountaineer, author, and professional speaker, and her husband, Dr Glen Singleman, made the world’s highest BASE jump in wing suits in 2006. Heather’s address gave delegates an insight into the hurdles and challenges she needed to overcome to obtain her goal of achieving a world record in freefall. Her message was “never say ‘I can’t’ and to learn to understand fear and how to handle it.” BERNARD SALT Bernard, a partner of KPMG Australia, has established an enviable reputation as an advisor to leading property investors and developers on matters relating to market demand. He explained how “The future can be predictable for a prepared mind.”

Bernard demonstrated how to understand information and statistics and use them in planning for the future of your own business. DAVID LINGHAM David, from Orbis Worldwide (based in the UK), is a highly regarded moderator and speaker in the industry. He talked about “Clarity and purpose and working on your key strengths.”

He challenged delegates with questions about their businesses, such as: “Who are you selling to?” “Why do you come to work?”

An insightful forum based on four distinct business models: • Aligned with Manufacturers • Independent Bodyshop • Running a High Volume Business • Belonging to an aligned Group

The forum included a number of panel Bodyshop owners from each of the four models. Video footage was shown of their shops and they were then interviewed about why they chose that particular business model. The audience had the opportunity to ask questions plus David Lingham as the moderator of the session was

able to draw out the key competencies plus use his international knowledge to emphasise the key points of difference between each of the business models. MARKUS BURRI Markus Burri, Group Vice President, Coatings Solutions Asia Pacific (based in Hong Kong) gave an excellent presentation on new technologies from around the world, particularly OEM manufacturing processes and paint technology. DR GLENN SINGLEMAN Dr Glenn Singleman, medical doctor, professional adventurer and extreme sport world record holder, showed film excerpts from some of his world adventures. Glenn talked about the severe hardships he and his team endured and overcame to achieve their world record BASE jump and gave delegates the outlines of a ten step easy to apply plan that can help you produce results regardless of your skills or circumstances. Delegates agreed this was one of the best conferences they had attended, encouraging them to look towards the future for their business, giving them a healthy balance of business, networking and pleasure activities in beautiful surroundings.

Our panels come with an attractive price tag.

Always specify Mercedes-Benz genuine parts. With reduced prices on selected Mercedes-Benz replacement parts, it makes sense to always fit Mercedes-Benz genuine panels. Now you can avoid problems associated with non-genuine parts. Parts that are ill-fitting and need reworking cost you time and money. Remember, Mercedes-Benz genuine parts are designed, engineered and tested by the same people who produce Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

That’s why our parts come with a 2 year unlimited kilometre warranty. While non-genuine parts may look the same, do they fit the same, do they perform the same, do they last as long? Would you compromise your reputation with non-genuine parts? Always specify Mercedes-Benz genuine parts.

The catalyst for change. With the conversion to waterborne finishes a very new change for Bodyshops, we talk to Bodyshop owners and get insights into the changeover process and their plans to leverage the change to grow their businesses. DARREN LARSEN LARSEN'S PANEL & PAINT WANUIOMATA, NEW ZEALAND.

Focusing on the future improvements to his 21 year old business has always been a priority for Darren Larsen at Larsen’s Panel and Paint. Larsen’s had been a PPG customer for some 18 years.

“ Changes to the business process needed to be made to improve both my efficiency and to make this an even more viable business. We seemed to be pushing as hard as we always had, but still seemed to be going sideways” says Larsen. After initial discussions with the Glasurit team, Darren flew to Auckland for 2 days to gain a better understanding of the benefits of 90 Line. Several Bodyshops that he visited provided very impressive positive feedback and with a Hot Rod restoration

“ The changeover had little to no impact on my productivity. We implemented the changeover on Sunday and were operational on Monday.” project in at Larsen’s work shop at the time, it was decided to trial 90 Line. The finished product was particularly impressive, both in colour accuracy and finish and that provided the drive to make the change. His staff were put through an intensive training program in Auckland, and also had the benefits of an on-site, week-long training support program, after which, they were up to speed and ready to changeover. At the same time as the paint changeover, Darren also made the decision to expand his premises into the building at the back of the existing workshop. This trebled his paint shop size, gave him a separate panel shop and allowed him to have a new tow, strip and estimate area out of the weather for the forthcoming winter season.

10 | GLASURIT – 90 LINE

Darren’s expectations of the outcome of these changes are huge. His staff have embraced the changes he has mapped out. “We now do everything the Glasurit way” says Darren.

STEPHEN GOODALL GOODALL PANEL SOUTHPORT, QUEENSLAND.

BIGNELL PANEL REPAIRS YEERONGPILLY, QUEENSLAND.

“ My staff love the new products and even when they have to stay in the mixing room for a period of time there are no problems, because there are no fumes.”

7 months ago Stephen & Matt Goodall from Goodall Panel at Southport made the decision to change their business over to using the Glasurit 90 Line waterborne system.

Robert Bignell from Bignell Panel saw the potential benefits when he decided to change his business to a waterborne system in November 2008. He wanted to keep up with technology once he knew that water based paints were being used throughout Europe.

He has undertaken a benchmarking exercise to determine the effects the change has had on his new look business. Although it is only in the early phases, he has already seen the business turnaround.

“ Water based technology is talked about in our industry and the staff wanted to have the challenge of using this new technology. They have loved the change.”

Next steps for Larsen’s are a local marketing program to ensure the community know about his new business venture and the environmental stance he has taken. We will watch with interest to see how Darren’s business continues to improve and hit profit targets over the next 12 months.

With the business predominantly dealing in BMW and Mercedes, who were already using water based technology, Matt felt he needed to make the move.

“ The gases and emissions are greatly reduced so it is better for our staff’s health. It is no longer toxic in the paint room, the guys don’t get the nauseous feeling from the paints and it doesn’t soak into their skin like the solvent based one did” said Matt.

“ Apart from the colours being more accurate and the metallic’s more even, the most noticeable difference for our business was the environmental benefits” “ It has dramatically cut down our use of waste thinners as we have less chemical solvent usage leading to less wastage of tins, cans and plastic items.” said Matt. This has resulted in waste costs being significantly reduced. It has been a very positive change overall and hasn’t slowed productivity levels down at all.

His decision to change over was influenced by the environmental factors but predominantly for the colour matching system and the fact that waterborne coatings were being used by most of the OEM’s. “We are now using like for like products which makes our business more streamlined” comments Robert.

“ We have found that the processes as far as colour reproductions are great and very stable. says Robert. It is non-reactive with the base coats. 90 Line is a more stable product and we have less fry-up issues. You can blend in small areas and it definitely makes blending easier.” Using the Profi system helped Robert’s staff to match up colours quickly and accurately and works well with the 90 Line system. They found that the opacity of the paint was better with greater covering power. The change over to the Glasurit 90 Line waterborne system was easily managed after a couple of Bignells staff members attended the 3 day comprehensive training session and understood the process. With the support from the Glasurit technicians they experienced a smooth transition with no impact to the business.

“ The support from Glasurit has been great and I wouldn’t ever consider going back to solvent based products.”

12 | GLASURIT – HYUNDAI i-FLOW

Hyundai i-flow wins major award. BASF has been granted the international environment award, OkoGlobe, for their contribution to the energy efficient automotive solutions delivered by the "i-flow" concept car project. The award is issued for ground breaking concepts, innovations, products and production processes in the area of mobility. The i-flow concept car was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2010. The joint development by Hyundai and BASF showcases many innovations not previously combined in vehicles and hints at the scope of automotive possibilities for the future. This cutting edge vehicle is a great example of design and sustainability excellence.

“ The i-flow is a milestone on the road to the car of the future. Because Hyundai was quick to involve us in the development process, we were able to offer our full strengths. We are very happy with the outstanding results of our cooperation.” said Dr. Wolfgang Hapke, President of BASF’s Performance Polymers division. BASF’s contributions to the i-flow mean numerous benefits such as greater fuel efficiency, a lower environmental impact, freedom of design as well as greater levels of comfort and safety. With the i-flow concept car, Hyundai and BASF have demonstrated not only state-of-the-art new materials and technologies for automotive construction, but given a glimpse of what the motor industry can expect from cars of the future.

Cool Pigments The concept car offers an important new approach to sustainable mobility. For example, a wide range of infrared-transparent and infrared-reflecting pigments in the car interior result in cooler plastic surfaces for the dashboard, seat and center console. Pigments from BASF’s Sicotan®, Sicopal® and Lumogen® ranges provide very dark or black surfaces that remain distinctly cooler when exposed to sunlight. The result: greater comfort for passengers and less energy used for air conditioning. Brilliant Effects Externally, a literally brilliant effect is provided by a new mirror-like paint from BASF. The Liquid Metal basecoat makes the i-flow look as though it is chrome-plated rather than painted. The aluminum effect pigments in Liquid Metal paints create a colour transition from light to dark, depending on the viewing angle, and strongly accentuate the curved surfaces of the car body. This latest generation finish makes use of Physical Vapor Deposited Aluminum pigments that are between 30 and 50 nanometers thick, approximately 10 to 20 times thinner than conventional pigments. This reduction in grittiness and increased mobility of flakes in the wet film makes the paint look like it’s been stretched across the car’s body like a metal skin.

In addition, the innovative iGloss clearcoat makes the paint surface both scratch-resistant and weather-resistant, and can extend the brilliant gloss of a new car many times over. iGloss is a hybrid material, composed of both hard inorganic and soft organic materials. No compromises were made with the new paint system in terms of environmental compatibility and process reliability, as iGloss requires no significant changes to automobile manufacturers’ current coating processes.

“ BASF proved to be a true partner, with whom we jointly developed innovative solutions for design and engineering. For example, our new ‘fluidic sculpture’ body language is particular well expressed by the innovative coating technique used for the i-flow concept car,” explained Thomas Bürkle, head of Hyundai’s European design center.

Automotive Glazing Lightweight and transparent polycarbonate replaces glass. BASF produces scratch resistant coatings.

Liquid Metal Coating The Hyundai i-flow shines like polished steel due to a LiquidMetal paint that not only has a striking effect, but is also environment-friendly.

iGloss BASF has developed an extremely scratchresistant clearcoat called iGloss. It was used on the Hyundai i-flow.

Interior Comfort Modern vehicle interiors aim for maximum comfort. The BASF innovation SteronÂŽ is a soft-touch coating technology.

14 | GLASURIT – LATEST COLOUR TRENDS

Futuristic metals lead the way in the latest trends in colour. BASF’s Colour Designers are experts at identifying and observing automotive colour trends across each region. Their latest observations show some interesting directions across both the European and Asia Pacific markets in light of our economic and social environments.

Audi R8

GLASURIT – LATEST COLOUR TRENDS | 15

In Europe the spectrum is all about individualism with sensual pastels from grey apricot to yellow beige starting to emerge. Young consumers are moving towards more daring colours such as poisonous yellows and attention grabbing red/pink combinations.

Futuristic metals are increasing in favour as technology allows them. Extremely bright sparkles are key effect elements that go behind a classic metallic look. Dark and toned silver, black with prominent colour gradients and striking deep black are very directional trends.

People in the Asia Pacific markets are seeking to reorient themselves and as a result prefer more conservative, neutral colours such as white, silver, grey and black. These are refined with subtle sheens, emotionally laden colour transitions, luster and three dimensional images displaying depth and density. While cheerful colours in tones of blue, pink and red are remerging as an antidote to negativity and uncertainty.

GLASURIT – ZIGGY’S HOT RODS ZELBY 427 | 17

Mustang meets Ferrari in Ziggy's Zelby 427. In the competitive world of boutique car manufacture and modification, it is rare to see something that is both uniquely contemporary and at the same time stunningly classic. Ziggy’s Hot Rods of Port Stephens, NSW have achieved just that with their latest project, the ZELBY 427.

Due for completion towards the end of 2010, the ZELBY 427 is the answer to the question ‘What if Henry Ford II had actually purchased Ferrari in 1963, and a Ford/Ferrari model was developed for racing in Europe?’

Latest automotive technologies

Gears move via a 5-speed Tremec TKO 600 built by Bowler Transmission. A front suspension system with Triangulated 4-Bar rear-end incorporating a fabricated 9” housing driving strange diff centre and axles, one-off wheels built by Budnik Wheels and brakes by Baer Mono.

Renowned for his flawless paintwork, Ziggy’s custom paint service of the ZELBY 427 will feature a special mixed Glasurit red with white pearl stripes and watermarks. Says Ziggy of the car’s exterior “At a distance it will look like a red car with white stripes, but up close there will be a lot more to look at – cars like this are all about the details”. Glasurit products used to create these effects include 801-701 Epoxy Primer, 1006-23 Spray Polyester, 22 Line and 923-255 HS Clear.

The Zelby design was all about thinking outside the square. The project was aimed at being something completely new but also something that may have been built if the circumstances had been different.”

18 | GLASURIT – COLOUR EDUCATION TRAINING COURSE

Glasurit offers new Colour Education training course. Colour trends adopted by vehicle manufacturers increasingly make use of special effect pigments, which are becoming more and more difficult to match or blend. Glasurit has recognised this and added another specialist colour education course. Ian Johnson, Technical Sales Support Manager, Australia & New Zealand

Painters in the industry often find it difficult to reproduce the OEM finish or to achieve an undetectable repair. Matching these colours is a time consuming process, and therefore costly to Bodyshop owners. Glasurit has recognised this and have added another specialist colour course to their comprehensive colour training program. The new course offers the painter first-hand experience with what needs to be done to achieve an acceptable result with a difficult match, without the pressure of getting it right the first time in a Bodyshop setting.

GLASURIT COLOUR EDUCATION

Glasurit Colour Education now comprises of 2 courses. Glasurit Colour Education 1 (CE1) takes delegates through the basic aspects of colour and colour matching, including an introduction to the use of the Glasurit RATIO COLOR Profi System.

COLOUR EDUCATION 1 (CE1) The objective of this course is to give delegates an understanding of the basic principles of colour theory. They are also trained to economically manage colour preparation and alter, if necessary, a colour formula to achieve a match with the Glasurit colour tools and matching methods. This two day course is ideally suited to a third year apprentice or a new user to Glasurit.

COLOUR EDUCATION 2 (CE2) In addition to the existing education portfolio, Glasurit has this year launched the Colour Education 2 (CE2) course. CE2 builds on the skills and knowledge taught in Colour Education 1.

“ CE1 concentrates on basic colour theory, and how to use the Glasurit colour tools correctly and efficiently. It also teaches basic colour adjustment technique” While there are similar courses globally, CE2 has been specifically adapted for the Australian market. CE2 sees the delegate blend an adjusted colour on a vehicle body shell using the same techniques that they would on a live job in the Bodyshop. The course is designed to give a deeper insight into colours and colour physics, especially with respect to process improvements. It includes complex information about physiology and pigment influences.

“ CE2 does a refresher on basic colour theory with more time spent on practical exercises. It concentrates on the matching of more difficult colours such as effect and three layer pearl colours.” Delegates are introduced to a more detailed way of economically managing the preparation of colour. They are schooled in methods for alteration, if necessary, of a colour formula to achieve a match using Glasurit colour tools and matching methods. The course also offers a more in depth approach to the Profit Manager retrieval system. Once they have completed the three day course, delegates will be able to increase the process security of colour retrieval across all jobs. They will also understand and be able to solve complex colour differences under various conditions. CE2 is best suited to fourth year apprentices, or other experienced painters.

“ Glasurit training courses are a great way to gain extra knowledge and skills to help you every day in your workshop, whether you’re a painter or manager. You learn lots of new things and the instructors are great!” Jamie-Lee Barber, Painter, Hawthorn Body Works, VIC

BIG

IMPROVEMENTS. Drake Trailers is always looking for ways to improve their products, service, quality and most importantly, delivery times. That’s where Glasurit comes in after they switched to Glasurit 68 Line two years ago.

In 2010, Drake Trailers celebrated 50 years as the leading manufacturer of heavy transport solutions for the earth moving and mining industries. Drake manufactures widening and fixed width trailers, mine site equipment transport, steerable modular and telescopic trailers. Drake is always looking for ways to improve their products, service, quality and most importantly, delivery times. That’s where Glasurit comes in. After switching to Glasurit 68 Line two years ago, Drake has increased both the quality of their finishes, and turnaround time through the surface finishing area. Says Rob Beattie, Production Coordinator for Drake Trailers, “I made the recommendation to change, as I had come from a previous background with Glasurit, and the products Drake was using at the time were inferior. They were more timeconsuming and did not deliver the desired results.”

“ We needed to reduce our overall turnaround time through the surface finishing area, and needed a supplier who could offer formalised colour sourcing. Glasurit contact our customers, get the colours approved, and provide a signed-off sample so there are no mistakes when painting.”

GLASURIT – DRAKE TRAILERS | 21

Together with a new heated paint booth facility allowing for on-site baking of finishes, Glasurit products have greatly improved production systems for Drake. Better lighting and a dust free environment result in better finishes, and decrease man hours associated with the process. Drake recently sent their spray painting apprentice to Wetherill Park for the first part of his colour matching training, as they do not conduct any of this type of training on-site. Rob explains the benefits of Glasurit training: “It gave our apprentice exposure to new systems and things that we don’t necessarily do here on our site. Glasurit also do on-site training with the rest of the painting team, and new staff when they start. The yearly training program keeps us up to date with all current

requirements, methods and products, which means the best possible finish on our trailers.” “The advantage of the comprehensive training programs and superior paints are obvious in Drake’s final product and customer satisfaction.” Rob says “We often speak to our customers about the quality of our finishes. They are over the moon with the standard of our finish. The products are more durable in the environments in which the vehicles operate. Previously vehicles would have come back from six or 12 months on a site with no paint at all, and now with the Glasurit finish they are coming back in much better condition by far.” Drake Trailers operate out of Wacol, Queensland.

“ The service offered by Glasurit is second to none. Glasurit do regular audits to make sure we are using their products correctly, and we are backed up by the Glasurit technical team. Technicians come on-site if there are any problems at all. They do a magnificent job.”

“ We are very proud to be a supplier for Western Motors and EMC, which sets global standards for competence, professionalism, size and quality. We want to use our Glasurit paints to help EMC expand its outstanding reputation even further,” said Arie Verboon, BASF’s Country Manager for the United Arab Emirates and Business Development Manager for the Middle East. For EMC’s management, in addition to product quality, key factors for choosing Glasurit included improved efficiency in the refinishing workflow and broad support by Glasurit as a partner for paint and services. “Our vision is to offer our customers the best service and quality, and to do this, we need the best partners at our side,” explained Dennis Holland, General After-Sales Manager for EMC. At Glasurit, this partnership begins with reliable delivery of products and ranges from certified training organization to Bodyshop support, for example, with Profit Manager Pro, the computer program for optimal colour and material management. Glasurit’s comprehensive software offer was also a crucial factor for EMC choosing Glasurit. “Profit Manager Pro fits perfectly into our software environment,” said Andreas Hurst, Team Leader of EMC’s body and paint shop. “Applications such as software-controlled inventory management with automatic ordering processing and the interfaces to the Bodyshop management system make our work easier. Now, at a glance, we can track product use and even manage all non-paint products at the same time.” For Bodyshop Manager Ibrahim Khalil, all steps of the changeover to Glasurit went without a hitch. “We had prepared ourselves for a turbulent changeover period, but it was astounding how quickly our staff learned how to work with Glasurit's 90 Line waterborne paint system.” Especially considering that there were no long product training courses on practice objects at EMC. The “training” took place during normal daily business, with real refinishing jobs

The quality of the products must be right, too. In a country where the daytime temperature fluctuates from 38 to 48°C and from 26 to 30°C at night with high humidity, the paint is subjected to harsh stresses. It must also withstand sudden sandstorms without extensive damage. “With Glasurit, we have products that meet exactly these requirements and offer an attractive appearance for years,” Verboon said.

BASF Coatings merges into BASF Australia Ltd Coming into effect from the 1st of July 2010, BASF Coatings Australia Pty Ltd merged into BASF Australia Ltd. The integration will create value for BASF by simplifying organizational structures, allowing BASF to streamline many of its back office activities while leveraging the combined strengths and capabilities of the two entities to continue to deliver high standards of service and quality to the special requirements of their customers. Ross Pilling, Managing Director, BASF Australia Ltd, welcomed the Coatings colleagues to BASF Australia saying, “We look forward to starting this very exciting journey together.” He also thanked the integration team from Coatings and BASF Australia for their hard work to bring the integration to a successful and timely outcome.

BASF Coatings is now the official partner for KIA Motors’ after-sales network and will support performance at official dealers and authorised contractors.

Glasurit's logistics and infrastructure in the United Arab Emirates were also important for EMC. Glasurit has operated for 35 years in the region. “Our recipes for success include an ongoing presence in the market, working with the customer directly and being available on site, and that is exactly what EMC appreciates,” said Verboon.

and the usual technical equipment. With expert guidance by Glasurit technicians and trainers at the facility, EMC's spray painters quickly learned how to apply the Glasurit products confidently.

The agreement recognises BASF Automotive Refinish as an official automotive refinish paint supplier for KIA Motor’s after-sales network worldwide. In addition, BASF Automotive Refinish will provide KIA Motors official service packages adapted to local agreements. BASF have jointly developed an automotive refinish training program as part of this package to meet and fulfill all the requirements of dealer networks for KIA Motors worldwide. BASF will help train hundreds of expert Bodyshop workers and repair technicians in the best way to restore a car to its pre-accident condition. “It is an honor for us to have this global cooperation agreement with KIA Motors. By working more closely together in the field of automotive refinish solutions, and by offering our insight and support, we hope that both companies can continue to prosper in the evolving global market,” said Kenneth Marshall, regional business director of BASF Coatings Asia Pacific. Marshall continued, “Refinishing is a highly sophisticated process that needs world-class solutions to ensure the best quality. It’s all about providing the best support possible to the person who’s painting your KIA, meaning that KIA owners around the world will be assured their KIA has a finish just as good as before the accident.” BASF solutions help Bodyshop owners provide excellent refinishing work through the latest innovations in colour matching and management. For example, BASF's bestin-class colour software for colour-matching computers, or spectrophotometers, helps scientifically match colours at a level that will satisfy the most demanding artist's eye. BASF consultants also work with paint shop owners and refinishing staff to understand the full spectrum of needs from vehicle owners. Coatings solutions by BASF include the latest water-based solutions that eliminate odour by minimizing volatile organic compounds (VOC) from drying paint.

GLASURIT 285-550 AND 285-650 HS PRIMER FILLER.

PERFECTION BETWEEN BLACK AND WHITE. Both 285-550 HS Primer Filler black and 285-650 HS Primer Filler white for the Glasurit filler blending concept offer a faster drying time, and improved sandability and adhesion. The advantage is obvious: when refinishing, bodyshops can match the filler colour perfectly to match the substrate colour that had been used during production line coating - whether black, white or one of six greyshades in between - therefore saving time and materials later on when applying the topcoat.
