Parish grant for WAGS

During the third lockdown, members of WAGS have grabbed the chance to get on with some essential maintenance.

The allotments have been in use since 2011, and the fencing that had been put in originally was now rotting away. We recieved a grant from Westfield Parish Council and immediately put this to good use. Also we would like to thank Charlton Timber for their help and support with providing materials for this project. Below are some before and after photos, with allotment holders Paul Millard and Margaret Bridges admiring the new fence. Pictured on the opposite page, is Keira-Leigh Chivers and her dog, Loki. She is working towards her Duke of Edinburgh award by helping at Westfield Allotments during the lockdown and for the next 6 months.

It's great to get young people interested in growing vegetables and enjoying working outdoors and helping the community. Keira has worked hard sorting all our pots and transformed the potting shed into something we can be proud of. Westfield Allotments and Gardening Society (WAGS)
