Westfield: the first 10 years Front Garden Competition

The Westfield Front Garden competition was launched in 2014, inviting residents and businesses in Westfield to enter their colourful and well-maintained front gardens for accolade. Some of the winners have been pretty spectacular. It’s always a joy to walk or drive through Westfield and see some of the beautiful displays.

Thanks must be given to the judges that have considered entries over the past 7 years, come rain or shine! And for the donations of prizes from Norton Green Nurseries and Thomsons of Radstock. We are very grateful for all your help and support. Since 2014, the competition has gone from strength to strength, though persuading people to blow their own trumpet and enter can prove quite challenging. We have discovered that gardeners are pretty modest people! A lot of gardens are entered by neighbours or people passing by. That’s always good as the owners of the gardens no doubt want to show their talents to all that see them, as well as having the pleasure of cultivating such delightful space for their own enjoyment.

So, despite all the doom and gloom of the last year, one thing that can go ahead with plenty of social distancing is the Front Garden Competition. We know how much you love your gardens, so go on out there, make your gardens look blooming wonderful and TELL US ABOUT THEM!!!

There are cups for the winners of Best Front Garden and Best Container and small prizes for the winners as well.
