Indications Trumpet in C Percussion Electronics + video (controlled by pressing on a MIDI foot pedal - percussionist)

Trumpet

= very fast noisy and scratchy sounds / notes, similar to the electronics and electric guitar sounds. = wah-wah / plunger mute movement = improvise on the content described inside the box

Percussion - Electric guitar with floyd rose (tremolo) - lying on a keyboard support (it can be a cheap guitar) - 5 membranophones (muted with a black blanket on top of it: bongos, congas and tom-toms) = - Bass drum (foot pedal), very dry and punchy = - 5 non-ressonant metal objects = - MIDI foot pedal to trigger electronics cues - snare drum sticks - bow - slide guitar

= fast scratching with snare drum stick on the strings, while the left hand is muting all the strings, creating a similar sound to the electronics = tremelo (floyd rose) movement, creating a soft or strong vibrato (depending on the range of the graphic)

= harmonics on all strings, by creating a bar with one finger on the left hand, slightly toutching the strings over the indicated fret, striking with the indicated mallet or bow on the right hand. = improvise on the content described inside the box

Keep the volume of the entire piece considerable loud, but not painful!


Electronics: ! The electronics part consists of audio samples triggered by pressing on a MIDI foot pedal (percussionist and audio processing of the electric guitar and trumpet ! Software required: “zap_ping_main” Max/MSP application (for electronics and cues), and “zap_ping_trumpet” and “zap_ping_percussion” for each perfomer’s video ! Each electronic cue, ­ ,should be triggered by pressing on a MIDI foot pedal connected to the Main Computer running “zap_ping_main” application. 1 265 ! The pecussionist should be able to see the cue numbers on the patch during the performance. ! Send electric guitar output and trumpet mic output to two diferent inputs of the audio interface ! For section “O”, is necessary an in-ear, so the percusisonist can listen the click-track ! Some audio monitors should be placed on stage ! The electronics part are diffused by stereo loudspeakers Video: ! The concert hall should be as dark as possible and a few music stand lights (with filters) should be used so the performers can see the score. ! The performer should play as close as possible to the screen, as showed by the picture on next page. ! Connect the 1 webcam to each video computers, capturing the performer, as showed on the picture on the next page. ! Connect the beamers to each video computer and create a secondary screen on menu “preferences” and choose resolution 1024 x 768. Drag the window to the secondary screen and press <esc> to fullscreen mode. Required equipment: ! 3 Apple computers: - 1 Main computer (audio and cues): running “zap_ping_main”, with an audio interface, a MIDI pedal and a MIDI spliter. - 2 computers for video, running respectively “zap_ping_trumpet” and “zap_ping_percussion”, with 1 beamer and 1 webcam connected to each computer ! 1 audio interface ! 1 MIDI foot pedal: Use a USB pedal or a MIDI foot pedal (like a sustain pedal running through a MIDI keyboard connected your computer). ! 1 MIDI spliter and 2 midi cables, to send the cues to each video computer"#If necessary, each video computer should be connected to a midi box, in order to receive the midi from the mai computer. ### ! 2 high quality loudspeakers ! 1 or 2 subwoofers ! a few audio monitors so that the performers can have an adequate monitoring to the electronics part. ! 1 microphone to amplify the trumpet ! 2 Beamers and 2 screens to project the video ! 2 webcams, usb extension cables and 2 mic stands to attach the web cam and place it on the right position For technical support feel free to contact igorcsilva.21@gmail.com
