Portuguese,
was
done
respectively by José Rocha Diniz, director of Jornal
Tribuna de Macau and by Maestro Simão Barreto, in the presence of the author of both works, the well-known reporter, João Guedes, and under the coordination of IIM’s president, Jorge Rangel. Before the ceremony, the guests were gifted with a surprising performance of the choir PEROSI, which interpreted two songs rearranged by Fr. Áureo Nunes e Castro, the “Te Deum” and the Chinese song, “Young girl by the lakeside”. Leona Fong, Young Lam and Nelson Ho made their renditions of the songs, in a musical moment conducted by Katrine K. Wong.
The
presentation of the book on Fr. Áureo Nunes e Castro, places us at the cultural identity of Macau, with memories of the classic music and of his life also as a missionary and teacher. In “Macau Confidencial” we are faced with an atmosphere of conspiracy, secrecy and adventure towards the end of the 19th century and beginning of the following, when Macau was the center stage where factions of divergent ideologies fought till after the period of the Pacific War, when the presence of Japanese was dominant in the devastated region of the Pearl River.
