Breakfast With Jesus I wanted to share this section of Scripture with you because it's one of my favorite accounts in the Gospels. Jesus chose to have breakfast with 7 ordinary men. Try to imagine yourself there. Consider the sounds, smells, and emotions of this scene. What would it be like to have breakfast with Jesus? I pray God blesses you as you read and follow. G.W. Fuller "After this Jesus revealed Himself again to the disciples by the Sea of Tiberias, and He revealed Himself in this way. Simon Peter, Thomas (called the Twin), Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. Simon Peter said to them, 'I am going fishing.' They said to him, 'We will go with you.' They went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. Just as day was breaking, Jesus stood on the shore; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to them, 'Children, do you have any fish?' They answered Him, 'No.' He said to them, 'Cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.' So they cast it, and now they were not able to haul it in, because of the quantity of fish. That disciple whom Jesus loved therefore said to Peter, 'It is the Lord!' When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his outer garment, for he was stripped for work, and threw himself into the sea. The other disciples came in the boat, dragging the net full of fish, for they were not far from the land, but about a hundred yards off. When they got out on land, they saw a charcoal fire in place, with fish laid out on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, 'Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.' So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, 153 of them. And although there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, 'Come and have breakfast.' John 21:1-12a (ESV)

11 Tips From 11 years
My wife is an amazing, godly, beautiful woman. She's a wonderful mother. She's also encouraging and insightful. She even owns her own business. She is truly a Proverbs 31 woman. Verse 10 says, "Who can find a virtuous woman?" To that, I hold my hand up high and say, "By God's grace, I did." Eleven years of marriage has taught me a few things. Here are 11 tips (out of many more) that I've learned throughout our years together.
Hey Moms,

Wis dom’s S ourc e "O how love I Thy law! It is my meditation all the day. Thou through Thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for Thy testimonies are my meditation. I understand more than the ancients, because I keep Thy precepts. [...] Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalms 119:97-100, 105 (KJV) All around us we see a continual search for truth on the part of mankind. We long for knowledge, wisdom, and truth that will give us the answers to many of life’s problems and mysteries and that will increase the quality of our everyday lives. Sadly, many of us search in the wrong places and seek sources that provide a false wisdom that has little ability to change and improve our everyday lives and provides few answers to our problems. In this passage, the psalmist provides us with two sources of Godly wisdom. First, wisdom comes from knowing God’s word (vv. 9799). The psalmist says that the law of God is his meditation all the day. He is always conscious of God’s word. Second, wisdom comes from living God’s word (v. 100). The psalmist says he observes, or lives,
the law that he knows. He applies the commandments of God and observes them in everyday living. The result is that he has wisdom, insight, and understanding to life’s problems and concerns. He is wiser than others around him because he knows God’s word and observes it in daily living. Verse 105 says that God’s word is like a lamp and light. Just as a lighted lamp allows us to see how to proceed in the darkness, God’s word gives us direction on how to proceed in life. It gives us wisdom that makes life clear. Are you searching for answers in your life? Those answers will be found in the wisdom of God’s word. But remember, wisdom comes through constant attention to the word of God and its application to our daily living. If we look for wisdom in the knowledge and observance of God’s word, we will find that it will light even the darkest of life’s circumstances and provide us with those sought after answers we seek for daily living.

Do Americans Support Christian Businesses? The evangelical Christian polling firm, Barna Group, conducted a survey that explored whether Americans are supportive of businesses that have an overtly Christian connection. The survey revealed that 22-27% of Americans are more likely to buy a product or service from these Christian businesses. Additionally, half of buyers in the Midwest were more likely to support a business operated by Christian principles. Even non-Christians were more likely to favor Christian-themed brands than to reject them. David Kinnaman, president of Barna Group, directed the study and observed: “There appears to be a significant opportunity for enterprises that understand and value faith to express their faith consciousness
through their business practices - not simply as a marketing gimmick but as an authentic part of their content, their mix of products and services, their branding, and their corporate culture.”1 Bob Hutchins, coauthor of Faith-Based Marketing, noted that the Christian market should no longer be considered a niche market. With approximately 140 million committed Christians in America, the Christian market is catching the attention of organizations that are not “Christian” in principle or practice. How would you answer this question? Do you agree or disagree? Do you have other insights? Let us know at: Facebook.com/Ikthoos. 1 barna.org/culture-articles/472-americanschristian-business

How Do You Find Christian Businesses? If you do a search on Google for “Christian owned business” you’ll find about 20,600,000 search results. Do another Google search for “Christian Plumber” or “Christian Realtor” and you’ll find 4,760,000 search results and 12,200,000 search results, respectfully. The term “Christian” doesn’t guarantee that your search results are for Christian organizations or for a Realtor named Christian. More importantly, your search results do not guarantee a local Christian business. Now you may be asking, “So, is there a better way than sifting through millions of search results?" David's Dying Words Think with me for a moment: if you were on your deathbed, with your children standing around you, what would you say? If you knew that you could no longer ward off death but had enough vitality to say a few final words, which words would you choose? I can think of no better words than those recorded for us in 1 Kings 2:1-9. David is at the end of his forty-year reign, and his death is imminent. He brings his Solomon, the future King of Israel, to his side and leaves him with words of wisdom. I’ve broken down “David’s Dying Words” into five short commands, and we’ll observe each one over the next five weeks. As always, reflection questions are provided with each Wednesday’s Word if you want to use this as a resource for your personal devotion or a small group. 1. Know Your Source of Strength "Be strong, and show yourself a man.” (1 Kings 2:2). Let me first tell you what David isn’t saying: “Make sure you pump lots of iron, hunt and fish the biggest game, speak with a deep voice, and intimidate people.” This first instruction has nothing to do with being a “machoman.” David’s definition of strength and masculinity has everything to do with the Lord. David was a man who knew where strength was to be found. He was a king who knew where courage was to be found. He was a leader who knew the reason for being decisive. But none of his confidence was in his own strength. David talked of God being his strength (Psalm 28:7); he understood the theology of strength. What’s that theology? Here it is: as a child of God, your strength is not in the quality of your intellect, or the variety of your experience, or in your physical muscles, or the force of your 8
personality. Your strength is found in the Lord Almighty, who has made you His child. David didn’t just know that theology of strength in his head; he knew it by experience. This is the young man who walked down into the valley of Elah after the Army of Israel, for forty days, had been afraid, and said, “The Lord who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” (1 Samuel 17:37). If you want more on the theology of strength in the life of David, you can check out my sermon on David and Goliath: • Listen to the sermon online • Download the MP3 audio • Download the PDF transcript What is your definition of strength? I’m not talking about the Merriam-Webster definition; I mean the “rubber-hits-theroad” definition. Is your confidence defined by your own successes and strengths? Or is your confidence shaped by your potential in Christ Jesus? As David is passing away, he wants Solomon to know where true strength is found. The next four commands won’t make any sense unless Solomon is strong. And David wants his boy to know Strength. Reflection Questions: • Spend some time searching for passages about strength. The Psalms are a great place to start. • How would your culture define strength? How does that clash with the definition of strength in Scripture? • What are some of your own strengths? Are you ever tempted to rely on those instead of Christ? • How can you grow in your practical theology of Strength?

My Thoughts After Reading, "Don’t Make Me Count to Three!" I’d like to share a hope-filled book for all the parents out there. This book, by Ginger Plowman is called, "Don’t Make Me Count to Three!" When I was introduced to this book, I had a 2 ½ year old and a newborn. I was beginning to feel the pressure of raising two young children in a broken world. When I began reading it, I found encouragement and a wealth of wisdom. The book addresses the heart issues of discipline. Parenting is not just about changing behavior but about molding the heart of a child. When you reach the heart of a child, both parent and child begin to reap a bountiful harvest.

So, you may be reading this and your hand is beginning to rise. “This is me. I am struggling. I need help parenting.” I say, praise God, because this struggle means you’re still all in as a parent. If you weren’t struggling, you’ve given up.
In the very first chapter, I found my focus for parenting. “My greatest challenge today…and every day. It is raising these two precious children in the ways of the Lord. God does have an important job for me, and it does require much skill. It is my calling, my priority, my struggle, and my goal. I will rise to the occasion and accept Have you ever been shopping the task at hand.
