DOMINATED SKY All around the world, the implementations of technological advancements are faster than the pace of life for a human being. The most physical and brutal outcome of these implementations is explicitly visible in cities. Massive architecture, rapid urbanization and in the end, artificial nature. All our activities to manipulate and control the balance of our planet are getting more and more catastrophic. In some occasions, mankind literally buries itself into darkness in order to manage its daily routines, feel safe and happy. “Dominated Sky emphasizes the darkness we adore to live in and work in. In this world, we accustomed to living between walls and glass towers. We no more care our true feelings, how we love to live below the shadows of our own creations but if we stop and look up to the sky, we may realize how small we become and how we made our lives insignificant all by ourselves.

CONFRONTATION “Confrontation” displays both successful and arguably successful results of modern implementations on well-preserved architecture. Visitors of such places may see these implementations as disrespectful acts against history or productions of self-centered architecture which is solely based on the architect’s own inner desires to create a fancy form. “Confrontation” in this context, gives an opportunity to the visitors to have another point of view. “Success” can be identified by visualizing the relationships between old and new, transparent and opaque, light and heavy. Elevations make the comparison process easier through pure observations on the designed, thought and calculated order embraced by the older ones, in order to identify the addition and differentiate it from its predecessor.

THE VISITOR PERSPECTIVE When you visit a city for the first time, and if you know that you won’t be able to visit again in near future, you decide to go to the most popular places for that particular city. Churches most of the times. And again, usually, these places are magnets for tourists. You wait in the line to be allowed to see the inside thinking why it is taking so long since you want to see other places in the city as well. In my case, at that particular moment, I realize that there is nothing I can do but living the moment. Looking up to the facade and entrance, I find myself getting lost in details by separating my perspective from the crowd. Perceiving the grandeur of such historic masterpieces, questioning and huddling with myself “How in the world they manage to build this? Imagining how the inside is and getting closer to the entrance by little steps. It is the very moment of enjoyment for me, making the trip worth.
