XON is located at an intersection of alleyways which connect different streets into a large open area. This condition provided an ideal site for a community center that encourages both planar and vertical permeability. The building offers a strong spatial experience while combining disparate programs such as a theater hall, daycare center, swimming pool, restaurants, offices, art studios and a gallery. Two perpendicular axes run through the center of the structure, marking the main circulatory veins and collision spaces for different programs. Visual connection is maintained between programs through a generous atrium space, suggesting the permeability of these spaces and the building as a whole.

ilhan ozdemir kobi logendrarajah
a m p h i b i o u s _ h o u s i n g Noahasarken / noah for short / is a 3d printed amphibious building solution, proposed for karlstad, Varmland, Sweden. noah concept offers a new approach to combating floods and minimizing the negative effects related to flooding. The motivation for the design of noah is based on Hyogo framework for action and european floods directive goals, aiming to reduce flood related risks by combining bouyant building strategies and new technologies.

my 2nd work term was at designstor for 4 months. designstor is a architectural visualization firm with a strong office culture where there is constant exchange of knowledge. This provided a great learning platform for me and I had an opportunity to hone my modeling and rendering skills under invaluable supervision by my coworkers. I worked on a variety of tasks which range from mass, detail and furniture modeling to material creation, lighting, high level photoshopping and entourage creation for architectural renderings.

During my first 4 month coop term at Stantec Architecture in Edmonton, I had the oppurtunity to work on many different aspects of the profession at various architectural scales, phases and programs. My tasks included design studies, production of technical drawings, 3D masses, models and renderings. I also had the chance to contribute to multiple proposal and R&D projects.
