TORY
The advancement in technology has brought a revolutionary change in recent times. A couple of decades ago, however, the scenario was completely different. The need, as well as the availability of the IT consumables, was scarce. With the progression in the IT sector, the need for hardware and software products increased yet there were gaps in demand and supply chain in certain locations. Tech-enthusiast Sudhanshu Bhatia identified this gap just at the right time and his zeal to bridge the gap gave birth to Guruji Technologies. The year 1995 marked the establishment of the very first distributor of hardware products in the city of Agra, Uttar Pradesh. Sudhanshu founded Guruji Technologies along with his late father Mr. Suresh Kumar Bhatia to cater to the demand for IT products in Agra and nearby regions. Since its birth, Guruji Technologies have been catering to all the IT-related needs of its customers, and eventually, the company kept on expanding the range of its products and services.

09
SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 Sudhanshu, you started Guruji Technologies to fill the gap that existed between IT Sector and consumers in Agra. How does the story of fulfilling this gap go? Sudhanshu: We started as a job center, initially, in 1995. As the business requirements we were looking to buy some hardware we realized that there were not so many options available in Agra. We were totally dependent on the Delhi market for even the small IT-related products. Like we were facing problems in terms of procuring the hardware, etc., and dependency on the Delhi market for the same, we found that many companies were facing similar problems. The idea to provide hardware and other related stuff to Agra and the nearby region instantly clicked and we established the company and named it Guruji Technologies. We connected with various companies and started selling hardware consumables, HP cartridges, Canon cartridges, and other related products. Slowly, we started adding products year on year, like IT products, networking, CCTV, then complete security portfolio, fire-safety, home automation. It’s going well since then and we are still growing. Whatever is coming new to the technology domain we are adding to our portfolio and providing everything possible to our customers. Throw some light on the hardships and the challenges that you faced when you were establishing the company? Sudhanshu: There were a lot of challenges. For instance, availability of the material, the resources, direct billing from the OEM’s, etc. For the first year, everything was dependent on the Delhi market, especially the manufacturers in Nehru Place which was not so established back then. The biggest problem was that there were very few players in the market who could provide us with the original and durable materials
What is the market coverage of the company? Where are the offices located? Sudhanshu: We are having two offices right now. The Head office is located in Agra which is serving the complete western UP market. We have recently opened an office in Noida that caters to the entire Delhi and NCR. Apart from that, we get projects from outside Agra and our team is always ready to cater to the entire country.
What are your plans for expansion? Are you planning to move globally? Sudhanshu: Yes, we are planning to broaden our reach. Like I said earlier that our team is well equipped to cater to the entire nation. We are looking forward to establishing ourselves in the Maharashtra market right now and we are looking for options on how we can align there and start serving that region. We are also planning to set our feet globally in the coming future.
because we were determined to provide the best to our customers with the warranty. It took us some time to overcome that scenario. We were able to establish good connections with the OEM’s and started the direct billing to the Agra center itself.

SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 Everything in the entire IT sector is changing at a rapid pace, the technology itself, customers' expectations, their knowledge about IT products everything is changing really fast. How do you keep yourself compatible with the shift? Sudhanshu: Yes, in the last 25 years, there is a lot of shift in technology. Everybody knows how advanced technology has become compared to 2025 years ago. We were using calculators, digital and analog watches, etc. Mobile phones were used only to make calls. Now, the smartphone itself has replaced many devices. Everything can be done just at a click of a single button. It’s the basic example, technology has changed the face of the world in every possible way. As technology shifts, customers demand shifts in many different ways. To meet those demands we have to keep up the pace with that technology, we have to keep upgrading ourselves so that we can provide the right product according to the need of the customer.
service during the peak pandemic time. We encouraged and helped many of our clients to start working from home. Technology was the only thing that helped people to stay at home with covid and start living with the new normal. What are your mantras to keep deal with stress and motivate you? Sudhanshu: There is one wonderful word and a complete quote that has always helped me to deal with any problem. The word is “PACE” and it means “Positive Attitude Changes Everything”. I have implemented this mantra in my life and also teach the same to my staff.
We have spent almost two years inhaling the air polluted with Corona Virus. Times were difficult for everyone. Tell me about the challenges that you faced and how did your clients suffer during the pandemic? How did you overcome all these things? Sudhanshu: As we are trading in IT products and technology was the only thing that helped people sail out from this pandemic. Yes, there were some challenges because nobody knew what to do but at the same time, we took technology ahead and got connected to our customers. We did zoom video meetings and tried to update them on what they can do instead of panicking. We provided as much support from home as we could. There were some demands of physical presence also in emergency cases, and our company was exempted in providing services in those cases. We arranged passes to visit the customers and tried to give as much physical

In the business world, everyone comes across several roadblocks. Some of them are quite challenging, exciting, and a thing to remember. Did you ever come across any such exciting and challenging situation and how did your life mantra help you tackle the situation? Sudhanshu: There have been many scenarios where we found ourselves stuck and we didn’t know how to go ahead. The incident that I can recall right now happened when we were installing Agra Smart city and we had to deliver four or five sites the next morning for trial purposes.
SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 Tell me about the CSR initiatives that you and Guruji Technologies have taken. What topics do you cover during the seminars that you conduct as CSR initiatives?
Just the night before the deadline, we were installing some poles and we needed to run some wires through already hollowed poles. We realized that due to some manufacturing issues 5-6 poles were not hollow at the point of intersection of the cable. We had to give the go-ahead to the systems and the trial was supposed to be done in the next few hours. We were at the dead end for quite some time.
Sudhanshu: Guruji technologies take constant efforts to generate awareness on a digitally safe environment among different sectors. As its founder and holding expertise in the field, I feel responsible to educate others. So I provide one on one counseling to parents, women, teachers, and kids as well as to people in need and try to create a safe cyber environment for everyone. I consider it as my moral duty and will keep doing it selflessly. The topics covered during the counseling includes Cyberbullying, sexting, online shopping, and online frauds, network security, social media etiquettes, two faces of technology, surveillance-need of an hour, learn about social media, how to secure yourself from Internet threats- spotting the signs, online gaming gadget maintenance.
The best thing with my team is that we always keep our heads cool and keep our attitude positive (that’s my life’s mantra). We sat around together for some time to discuss what to do and how to proceed. One of my teammates came with a solution. He said that he could cut the pole from the top and make the hole and then make the cables run through. We didn’t have the proper equipment. Somehow, we arranged the drills and they started working. Though we couldn’t sleep that night, we finished and delivered the project before the deadline. The next morning we ran the trials without any glitches.
It is really difficult to balance personal and professional life for any working person, and here you are, performing so many roles, an entrepreneur, a consultant, a speaker, a socially responsible person, and a keen learner. How do you balance everything and still enjoy your life?
According to you, what are the most interesting aspect of being an entrepreneur? Sudhanshu: You can improvise things. You can learn whatever you want and you can be a good leader for your team. You can dream and you can do whatever you want to do.
Sudhanshu: : As I said earlier, always wear a positive attitude. Every entrepreneur works hard. I work hard, party hard and give time to my family members and always try to have a positive attitude for everything.
What do you love most about your job and your field? Sudhanshu: In this domain, technology is the most interesting thing. I have a passion for technology and it keeps on changing, it’s ever-growing. This change always keeps me busy. I get the opportunity to learn more things and keep myself up to the date for my clients. Moreover, we provide services in a lot of categories which kicks me every time to do something new.
A few pieces of advice for future entrepreneurs Sudhanshu: I would advise them to believe in themselves and ‘ tell them to keep doing consistent and concentrated efforts. In short- ‘Lage Raho’.
What’s the most relishing reward apart from the monetary one after the project completes? Sudhanshu: The recognition from the clients and further recommendation to other clients is something I relish the most. What are your ideas for fun and enjoyment? Sudhanshu: My idea for fun and enjoyment is going for a nature walk, going to jungle trails or maybe relaxing in some resort and chilling out with family at my home.

“It’s about perception. Sometimes we perceive design as a ten-headed demon. As we are close to the completion of a particular design aspect, a different dimension props up.”, says the cofounder, Mr. Baiju Baxi, who believes that the different design dimensions are as good as the different food cuisines and flavors around the world.
The two partners Ar. Baiju Baxi and Ar. Simran Manwani has been carving the path of the company’s success together. Holding a ‘never say any attitude’, Simran has been part of the company for 4 years. “She came in the firm with a fresh approach and an open mind full of vibrant ideas. The personal touch Simran gives to the given designs is something to behold.”, says Mr. Baiju. The young and dynamic B. Arch graduate is a Vastu specialist and an interior stylist.
“A true complete design is another version of justice done to the available space.” A company that now has a fully operational office at Lokhandwala Andheri west, with a vision of expanding globally, was once a freelancing firm with cafes as an office. “The dream of having one's own firm is absolutely intoxicating. Just the thought of establishing your own name and creating your own design was more than motivating.”, narrates Mr. Baxi.

SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 THE JOURNEY “The journey so far has been tremendous, it feels like riding on a roller coaster. There are ups, there are downs, but as long as the team stays together we always reach the next juncture together.” Coming from a middle-class background based in Mumbai, Baiju’s creative mind had always visualized the future in a brighter light. “Work hard, follow your goals, as just a few walks ahead you will be surrounded by a competitive world and participating in unwanted competitions that this journey called life holds for you.” Starting, initially, from smaller projects Baiju has aimed to lift the company’s graph constantly. Baxi Architects and Engineers have so far completed at least 83 projects including- residential, commercial, farmhouses, lobbies, children's hospitals, nursing homes. As each project that comes in is highly important well as the team is dedicated to completing the project in the given stipulated period of time.

SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 ESSENCE, BASIC IDEAS, BELIEFS, AND MANTRAS “Any property/site in itself has its own essence. Its surroundings and its immediate neighboring ambiance play a vital role. The most important aspect is to keep the main essence of the site along with the requirements of the client. The combination of the requirements along with the site itself amalgamates to emerge as 1st blueprint of the idea. Working on this blueprint itself a resonating design theme is conceptualized which varies differently for each client. Nowadays, it is often observed that a few designers try to impose the design on the clients but Baxi Architects try to customize the area to the likes of the clients as well as giving a personal touch to it. These simple practices have delivered good results and incorporating the above ideas, in reality, have generated long-term relations and a steady path to the company’s growth. “Our firm has grown on this very simple mantra that if our clients’ needs are fulfilled on the given date and time with our style and structural stability, good work is bound to come.”, says Mr. Baxi.
INSPIRATIONS
BUDGET- AN IMPORTANT ASPECT
“Staying in India has its benefits we are always surrounded by a rich heritage and culture. When we as a team take up a project the first thing that we tend to notice is the lifestyle of our clients. The majority of the work we do gets inspired by a client's origin and lifestyle it gives us easy answers.”

Since the market and other places are working now, things are changing at a slow pace as people are still not very open to spending their money. “Situations like pandemic are unavoidable and no one can plan for them beforehand. INDIAN HAND BLOCK PRINTING- A CENTURY -OLD ESSENCE OF INDIAN CULTURE India is a land where age-old traditions are still followed and practiced religiously. The heritage and the purity of the traditions have been secured by the artisans for a very long period. Block printing is one such practice that is being practiced for centuries and has greatly influenced many fashions.
Rajasthan is known as the place where Indian block printing originated. Jaipur, the capital city, is home to many carvers having great experience and history of original hand block printing. Apart from the pink city, the dominating centers for this ancient art are the states of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, and Uttar Pradesh.
Though the Indian peninsula is the largest manufacturer and exporter of block-printed fabric and garments, the technique is quite popular and admired worldwide. The history of the art traces 4000 years back and was first originated in China. It gained the attention of the Indian population quite a long while ago and its marks can be linked to the Harappa and the Indus Valley civilization. Since then, the art and the original techniques have been passed on from generation to generation while slightly improvising them as per changes in trends.
- Cutter Tool of Block Printing
The process of printing designs in fixed patterns using intricately crafted wooden blocks is often referred to as woodblock printing. The printing is meticulously done by hand and hence, it's a laborintensive, time-consuming, and attention-seeking technique.
34
SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021
Each block-press requires the right amount of dye and hand pressure to leave the perfect impression of the design from the block. Wood blocks dipped in different colors are pressed on the same area of the fabric at defined time intervals to bring out the required pattern which is then repeated throughout the length of the cloth. It could take days or even months to craft a masterpiece depending upon the type of pattern, its complexity, the number of different colors, and the type of fabric used. Wooden blocks used for hand block printing take several days to prepare and are made from Lime, Holly, Sycamore, Pear, and Sheesham wood.
Only one block could be utilized per color. The design on each block has to align perfectly with the other as per the requirement of design so the carving on the block must be precise and accurate. The design is traced on the smoothed-out block by hand after it has been hand sanded and coated with white paste. Finally, the blocks are soaked in oil to cure so that they don’t crack. Preparing the wooden blocks is, definitely, a job of experienced and skilled carvers requiring a lot of hard work and patience. Hand block printing is a pure labor-intensive job and despite its worldwide popularity, the artisans are not recognized for their skills and experience. They are struggling to make a living from their profession. With the digitalization of prints, hand block printing jobs have reduced a great deal. Since it’s a time-consuming process, more and more people are moving towards digital prints and mechanical prints which saves time and human energy. Also, to quicken the process, the chemical dyes are slowly making their way on the fabric instead of natural dyes. The generations-old art and the artisans need support and recognition. Despite the hardships, the artisans are trying hard so that the technique doesn’t get lost. Their effort is showing results and hand block printing is still flourishing. Designs and patterns, usually called motifs, are
35
SOURANSHI MAGAZINE | READY TO RULE | NOVEMBER 2021 mostly influenced by nature consisting mainly of animals, birds, flowers, and leaves. Apart from it, the inspiration could be ancient abstract art and geometric pattern. The carvers take the liberty to carve intricate motifs which could be simple flowers and leaves designs or highly complex geometric, patterns the motifs usually vary depending upon the demographic location and the culture of the region. The most popular types are Bagh, Kalamkari, Dabu, Ajrak, Sanganeri, and Bagru.
Ajrakh
Bagh Coming from the village of Bagh, Madhya Pradesh, this style of block printing is named after the village itself. White fabric makes an awesome background for black and red colours that are extracted from alum and rusted iron for the respective colours. Medium-sized flowers and other floral-leafy patterns are the inspiration for the motifs in Bagh block printing. Bagh
Ajrakh Inspired by geometric patterns and the word ‘Ajrakh’ which means blue in Persian, Ajrakh block printing uses blue and indigo colors for motifs. The geometric motifs and patterns which are printed on fabrics in different colors make the designs stand out. Ajrakh block printing is believed to have originated during the Indus valley civilization.
Kalamkari Originated in Andra Pradesh, Kalamkari designs and motifs are inspired from Ramayana and Mahabharata depicting episodes from these epic stories. The motifs are done over different phases based on the colors that are used. The detailed designs are hand painting with a thin bamboo brush.

We learn from our experiences and surrounding which, often, lead us to the place where we stand today. Jyoti: Interior designing has been my passion for as long as I remember. Considering my interest, It was the only career field I could think of when I had to decide my profession. I have a degree in interior designing and I have done architecture to expand my knowledge. Yes, I did follow in my family’s footsteps when I decided to start JJ interiors while following my passion at the same time. Another reason for choosing interior designing as a career is that I always wanted to do something big that can bring change in people’s lives, the home is a basic thing where you invest your feelings and have emotions and memories attached. This inspired me to choose the profession I am in now.
What’s the story behind the name JJ Interiors Jyoti: My brother has always been an inspiration to me. He has guided me at every step of my life. JJ stands for Jyoti that’s me and Jitender, my brother.
What is the basic idea that you keep in your mind before starting with interior transformation? Jyoti: The only basic idea is the values and the personality of the person for whom I am designing. The design should reflect the identity of the members who are going to spend their time in the place, whether it is a resident, office, or commercial, etc. I value the space, so I design accordingly.
Where do you get the inspiration for your unique ideas? Jyoti: I take my inspiration from my experiences. Every individual has a unique personality so I always try to know as much about my clients. Use close storage to make it look clean, and have some plants and natural flowers in your home. Don’t use decorative in excess and keep basic and natural material for furniture. You can highlight some areas by using vibrant colors but if you don’t have knowledge about this, I would suggest consulting an expert.
The 5 floored bungalow having 2 regular rooms on each floor demanded diligent space planning. The designer increased the normal size of rooms to accommodate the pre-bought furniture as well as openness to make it lively with the feeling of attachment to the space. Jyoti’s idea behind increasing the height of the drawing-room makes it look grand as well as royal.
A recent project By JJ interiors.
POP material with carved moulding on the ceiling retains the royal elegance.
About Project:Project Name:- Villa at Noida 15 A Concept:- Based on a classical theme with a royal touch, Jyoti has styled the place according to the client’s personality, taste, and requirements. The use of basic colours in the house with highlights of c colours breaks the monotony. Jyoti has used carving patterns and relief work on the light-colored furniture. Resonating with the royal theme, the furniture enhances the essence of the place.
Using the same moulding pattern in the entire floor the designer has carved different patterns on each floor with different colour schemes to make it interesting as well as to avoid repetition of design, and to reflect the personality of each individual while conserving the connection of one space to another.
