Tarble Arts Center 2010 9th St, Charleston

Cedarhurst Center for the Arts

Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon has an impressive mix of visual art exhibitions, sculpture gardens, educational programs, and notable events. The center offers visitors an immersive experience with its assorted fine art collection, including the renowned Mitchell Museum. Richard W. Bock Sculpture Museum

Misselhorn Art Gallery

611 W 2nd St, Sparta

The Misselhorn Art Gallery in Sparta showcases over 2,000 works by renowned Southern Illinois artist Roscoe Misselhorn, often dubbed the “Norman Rockwell of the Midwest.” The gallery, located in a historic train depot, also features contemporary exhibits and memorabilia from the Oscar-winning film “In the Heat of the Night,” which was filmed there. The collection includes sketches of steam locomotives, historical buildings, and local landmarks.

The Brubeck Arts Center Gallery 2200 College Dr, Mt. Carmel

The Brubeck Arts Center Gallery at Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel is dedicated to showcasing the work of local and regional artists across various mediums. Named in honor of Anne Brubeck, an artist and former art teacher at the college, the gallery frequently hosts nationally renowned collections, including paintings and works of various other mediums such as textiles, pottery, and photography. The gallery is free and open to the public.

Link Art Gallery

Located in Paris, the Link Art Gallery is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the arts in the local community. S.D. Meadows Folk Art Gallery

217 S Main St, Palestine

The S.D. Meadows Folk Art Gallery, located in Palestine, features vibrant works of homemade non-traditional art. Folk artist, Steve Meadows, takes seemingly normal objects and repurposes them into magical creatures and characters. This quirky destination is a highlight for visitors exploring the oldest town in Illinois, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Wayward Wovens

208 E Main St, Du Quoin

Wayward Wovens in Du Quoin is a unique art space dedicated to hand-woven textile crafts, showcasing intricate textiles and fiber arts created by Nikki Rathert. Visitors can see Nikki weaving away on one of her many looms and shop for her colorful handmade textile pieces, such as towels and keychains. Wayward Wovens is located inside the Wonder Community Art Studio where Nikki and watercolor artist, Meg, host free programs, and art classes for all ages. The duo also opens the space up for private event rental upon request.

Art on the Square

Downtown Square, Belleville

Art on the Square is a juried fine art event held annually the weekend after Mother’s Day at the Veterans Memorial Fountain in downtown Belleville. Since its inception in 2002, this vibrant celebration of creativity showcases a diverse range of artworks from over 100 artists across the country, making it a highlight of the local events calendar.

Fine Art Showcase

Olney City Park, Olney

The Olney Arts Council Fine Art Showcase is a premier event held in Olney, that provides local artists with the opportunity to display their work across various mediums. Held annually, this showcase spans five days and culminates in an artist reception where awards are presented to outstanding participants. Artists can register their work for adjudication, with the option to sell their pieces afterward, making it a significant occasion for both creators and art lovers in the community.

Arts in the Park

Metter Park, Columbia

Hosted by the City of Columbia and the Monroe County Arts Alliance, Arts in the Park is a spirited celebration of local talent, featuring original works by talented artists from the area. Visitors can peruse pieces that are available for viewing and purchase, enjoy performances by community ensembles, and engage in a creative arts area for children. Spring Art Show

Corner George Inn and the Preservation Society Mill and Museum, Maeystown

Historic Maeystown invites you to experience its annual Spring Art Show, held on select weekends each March. This charming event takes place at the Corner George Inn’s ballroom and the Preservation Society Mill and Museum, offering a rare glimpse into local artistry. Art in the Park

Lindendale Park, Highland

Art in the Park is a celebrated outdoor exhibition held annually at Lindendale Park in Highland, featuring the works of nearly 70 professional artists. This vibrant event showcases an array of fine arts across multiple mediums, allowing attendees to explore and purchase special pieces while enjoying a lively community atmosphere. With activities for all ages, including a dedicated kids’ area, Art in the Park is a perfect blend of creativity and familyfriendly fun.

Midwest Salute to the Arts

Moody Park on Longacre, Fairview Heights

Midwest Salute to the Arts is a longstanding arts festival held annually in Fairview Heights which has been celebrating its rich artistic community for over 30 years. This event features unique works of art, including glass, mixed media, clay, and jewelry, showcasing the talents of both local and regional artists. With live entertainment, food vendors, and more, it offers a festive atmosphere that brings the community together to appreciate the arts.

Fairfield PaintOut

Various Locations, Fairfield

The Fairfield PaintOut is an annual plein air festival, where artists work outdoors, showcasing their talents in various mediums such as oils, watercolors, and pastels. Attendees can engage with the artists, witness the creative process, and purchase finished works, making it a must-attend event.

Plein Air Paint Out

Various Locations, Maeystown

All are welcome to visit Maeystown for their annual Plein Air Paint Out. Watch as artists create their works in the open air or stop by in the afternoon and look at their finished works on display. This event is a lively and interactive way to experience the entire art creation process from start to finish.

Wabash Valley Wine & Art Festival

Main Street, Palestine

The Wabash Valley Wine & Art Festival in Palestine is held on the first weekend in October each year. The festival is free, but you need to purchase a wine glass or a wristband to sample the wine. This festival brings together both winemakers and artists from around the region and invites attendees to shop for handcrafted goods and sample wine from local vineyards in Illinois.

Street Art Festival

Highland Square, Highland

Every September, the streets surrounding the historic Highland Square come alive during the annual Street Art Festival. Watch as artists transform the pavement into canvases with intricate chalk drawings, showcasing styles ranging from surrealism to abstract. Chalk-A-Lot Street Art Fest
