Suspek iti pannakapapatay ti prov’l fire marshall, nakasuan iti murder Ilocos Norte cops nab PAG member CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – The Ilocos Norte police arrested a suspected member of a par-tisan armed group and allegedly identifed with a politician in Barangay Balacad in Laoag City last July 7.

In his report to PRO1 Regional Director Police Chief Superintendent Orlando M. Mabutas, Police Senior Supt.

Marlou C. Chan, officer-incharge of the Ilocos Norte police, identified the arrested person as Jonathan Bagamaspad, 43, a resident of Barangay Bungcag of Dingras town, and a member of a PAG said to be identified with Dingras Mayor Marynette Gamboa.

Chan said Bagamaspad was on board a Toyota RAV4, part of a convoy of vehicles led by Gamboa when he was arrested at a police checkpoint for carrying a caliber .45 pistol with a magazine containing 8 live ammunitions.

Chan said that although the suspect presented a gun license, he could not show a permit to carry firearm outside of residence.

Chan also reported to Mabutas that Bagamaspad and Gamboa were charged in the killing of Rey Ruiz, president of the Ilocos Norte Electric Cooperative (INEC) board of directors in September 2009.

Chan also said Bagamaspad is one of the respondents in the ambush slay of Barangay Captain Jo-en Cañete in Barangay San Esteban, Dingras town on December 28, 2009 and the wounding of former Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Dr. Robert Castro.

The arrest of Bagamaspad came in the wake of the recent directive of the PNP leadership to sustain the drive against PAGs.#
