St. Peter acts for the apostles and for the whole Church when He chooses to stay with the Lord, absolutely staking his faith on the Lord Jesus as the Holy One of God, and upon His words being completely reliable and true. At the heart of our Catholic faith is the Holy Eucharist, the sacrament through which we encounter the substantial presence of the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of the Lord. Through the Holy Eucharist we meet the Lord and receive the great gift that He gives us, the gift of His Body and Blood. Even if our minds struggle to comprehend this sublime mystery our hearts can say with St. Peter, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”
