FORCES Force is the push or pull aplied on an object. A force can make an object move, stop, break, change shape or change the direction. Gravity is a force that pulls objects down to the ground.

We move a tennis ball when we hit it with a racket.

We can break an object.

We can also stop the ball.

A magnet can move metal objects without touching them.

We can change the shape of plasticine.

Gravity is a force. When you throw an object up, falls back to the ground.

ENERGY • All tools and machines need energy to move. Energy is the ability to do some work.

• Energy can be stored. • There are different types of energy. • Energy comes from different sources.

SOUND Sound is a type of energy.

There are loud and soft sounds; high and low sounds; and pleasant and unpleasant sounds. Objects make different sounds.

Loud sounds, such as an explosion.

Soft sounds, such as water in a fountain.

High sounds, such as a whistle.

Pleasant sounds, such as music.

Low sounds, such as a big drum.

Unpleasant sounds, such as a drill.
