Plants need soil, water, air and sunlight to live.


PLANTS NEED A PLACE TO GROW Plants grow in many different places. Hot places (desert or beach), cool and wet places (forest and pond).

All plants have got roots, a stem and leaves. The roots are under the ground. They absorb water and nutrients from the soil. They fix the plant to the ground. The stem grows above the ground. It transports the nutrients around the plant. It supports the plant. Some plants have got a flexible stem. Another plants, like trees, have got a hard stem which is called trunk. Leaves are usually green. They absorb sunlight and air. Some plants have got flowers and fruits. There are seeds inside the fruits.

GRASS

Trees have got a long, hard, thick stem called trunk. They have got hard branches. Leaves grow on the branches.

Bushes have got short, hard trunks. The branches are hard and near the ground..

Grasses are smaller. Their stems are soft, thin and green.

Evergreen trees are green all year round.

Mulberry tree

Deciduous trees lose their leaves in autumn.
