More than 10’000 students give a young flair to the Old Town, which is also the largest connected pedestrian zone in Switzerland. On old industrial sites with a vintage atmosphere there are opportunities to skate, play golf or escape rooms. Sixteen museums with paintings by van Gogh, Monet, Picasso, Friedrich, Hodler and Anker compete for the interest of the visitors. Come and experience science that can be touched, the Foxtrail or one of the many film, music or literature festivals. The Rhine Falls can be reached in 25 minutes, and countless hiking and bike routes, gardens, parks, vineyards and forests wait to be discovered. Welcome to the Region of Winterthur, where the offer of an international city meets a warm village character.

8 SULZER AREAL: INDUSTRIAL HERITAGE D2/H5 The Sulzer areal, a symbol for Winterthur’s transfor mation, is located directly by the main train station in the heart of the city. The culturally diverse district for living and leisure, which has a unique charm, emerged in 1990 on the grounds of the former industrial site. Its past can still be felt today.

The Industrial Bike Route follows them for 22 kilometers. Starting at the Main Station the trail leads to the rice mill in Hegi, then back to the city centre to the site of Sulzer and on to the former spinning plant Hard, ending again at the Main Station. Information panels document the twenty most important corner stones of the industrial development in Winterthur. +41 (0)52 202 77 39 (on Thursdays) inbahn.ch :: veloland.ch/de/routen/route-0205.html time: 1 h :: difficulty: easy
