Are you constantly in overdrive?
Reset Medical & Wellness Center is helping patients hit the reset button and get their sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems back in sync.
Our nervous system is comprised of two branches. e sympathetic activates the ght-oright response while the parasympathetic restores the mind-body physiology to a state of rest and digest. Normally, these two work in balance with each other, but when they are out of sync, problems arise.
e Neuro Sympathetic Reset (NSR), commonly known as a Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB), is a 20-minute outpatient procedure that e ectively resets the sympathetic nervous system to its unstuck, pre-stress, or pre-trauma state. In layman’s terms, it is like resetting your computer or phone when it is not working by turning it o and then back on. e NSR treatment has even been proven to help Long Covid, menopause, ADHD, and more.

Welcome to Strongsville!
A strong sense of community and the caring support of neighbors and friends define the Strongsville way of life. Strongsville may be a flourishing suburb of around 46,000 residents, but we have retained the feel of a small hometown driven by family and community pride.
Our city is energized all year long with a variety of special events and fun activities for people of all ages, from bingo and card games at our wonderful senior center to soccer and baseball at the city’s many recreation fields to summer community band concerts and festivals, and other arts and cultural events. In October 2024, the City officially completed work on the Strongsville Town Center Enhancement & Walkability Project, which features 82 acres of walking trails, as well as new area amenities that include:
▸ Fully ADA-compliant playground
▸ New interactive fountain/splash pad
▸ New pickleball, tennis, sand volleyball, and basketball courts
▸ Redesigned public greenspace that will host community events such as the City’s farmer’s market, food truck festivals, Community Band concerts, and more
▸ New community pavilion featuring an outdoor fireplace and seating, family restrooms, and an event center available for rent
Along with being a family-focused community, Strongsville has created a pro-business climate centered around the City’s four thriving business parks. With over 8 million square feet of hightech manufacturing, office, and R&D uses, the City of Strongsville is a proven economic development leader, experienced in assisting companies looking to relocate and grow their businesses. Whether you are a resident, a Strongsville business owner, or a visitor, I’m confident that this magazine will help you to better familiarize yourself with our amazing community.

In a town of about 46,000 residents, Strongsville’s 81-acre Town Center area draws around one million visitors a year. With the completion of the ambitious Strongsville Town Center Enhancement and Walkability Initiative in the fall of 2024, that number is likely to increase, as kids flock to the new accessible playground, people of all ages gather to play pickleball, and residents leisurely walk new trails and host parties and special events at the new indoor pavilion.
The $11 million project came together through the participation and cooperation of local individuals, businesses, and civic organizations, along with public grant money, Mayor Tom Perciak noted. “No matter how big the city has gotten, the people of Strongsville continue to care about the community and want to make it better,” Perciak said. “It was amazing to get such an overwhelming response to the Town Center project.”
The project, which broke ground in August 2023, opened in October 2024, transforming the land west of the Walter Ehrnfelt Recreation and Senior Center into a bustling area for exercise, kids’ activities—including a splash pad—and community camaraderie. In the summer, Town Center is expected to offer entertainment and community activities, with a food truck court to feed the hungry crowds.

The project “is a big new piece to what is already an ideal community,” Perciak said. “Although Strongsville is one of the most populous cities in Cuyahoga County [with around 46,000 residents], it still has the feel of a small hometown
community. There isn’t a better balance of business and recreational amenities than you’ll find here in Strongsville.”
Recreational activities include the town’s abundant green space, which alone exceeds entire land areas encompassed by many full towns in western Cuyahoga County, the mayor noted. A large portion of that green space is allotted to the Cleveland Metroparks Mill Stream Run Reservation, which bisects the city. The park—which Perciak calls the “jewel of the city”—features activities like hiking, fishing, bicycling, and tobogganing, offering a serene contrast to Strongsville’s vibrant business districts that provide residents with ample dining and shopping amenities.
“Strongsville is a safe and welcoming community with a police force that is tuned in to our residents and their needs,” Perciak said. “We are a regional leader. We want to maintain our own fire and police forces, and we’re also providing dispatch services for other jurisdictions including North Royalton, Berea, Brook Park, and Middleburg Heights.”
The local business community, he added, plays a vital role in tying the community together and funding local events. “They are the financial glue that holds it all together, Perciak says.
After Cleveland, Perciak said, Strongsville has the highest accumulated property values of any city in Cuyahoga County. “We have strong, stable home values,” he said. “If you invest in Strongsville, your property values continue to escalate.”
Its convenient location is another factor that helps to make Strongsville an ideal town in which to live, run a business, and raise a family, Perciak said. “We are conveniently close to the airport, and I-71 and the Ohio Turnpike converge right here in our city,” he said. “Our tagline is true—we are the crossroads of the nation.”

STRONGSVILLE LOSES
A Leader
By Ken McEntee
After moving his businesses and family to Strongsville in 1956, Michael D. Kalinich Sr. became a cherished pillar of the community. Kalinich passed away on September 14, 2024.
Kalinich moved Kalinich Fence Co. to Strongsville two years after returning from the Korean War and went on to become chairman of Strongsville Savings Bank, playing a pivotal role in shaping the local economy. His extensive community activities included serving as president of the Strongsville Chamber of Commerce, a board member of Southwest General Hospital, and a founding member of the Strongsville City Club.
He is credited with coining Strongsville’s tagline, “Crossroads of the Nation.”
Among other accolades he
accumulated over the years, the city’s Michael Kalinich Sr. City Council Chambers was named in his honor.
Kalinich was a devoted husband to Erma for 70 years, and a loving father to Michael Jr., Cynthia, and Kimberly. He had eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
“He was truly the ‘Strong’ in Strongsville.”
“When you look up the word ‘gentleman’ in the dictionary, you will see a picture of Mike,” said Mike Catanzarite, a local business leader. “He was truly the ‘Strong’ in Strongsville.”
By Ken McEntee
Strongsville residents and visitors are likely to notice the bustling activity in the city’s retail and service sector, which is generally located along state routes 82 and 42. But the city’s four business parks, hidden in more inconspicuous areas, make up the heart of Strongsville’s economic strength, said Brent Painter, director of economic development. “The importance of our business parks can’t be overstated,” Painter said. “The city relies on income tax to pay for safety, recreation, and other services. Income tax accounted for about 80 percent of our general fund revenue, and half of
Design Your Dream Bathroom Today
our income tax is generated from people who work in the business parks. Companies in the business parks are the financial backbone of our city.”
The parks’ 97 percent occupancy rate is an indication that business is thriving in Strongsville, Painter emphasized. Strongsville’s business parks, which include the Strongsville Business and Technology Park, Dow Circle Research and Development Park, Park 82, and Progress Drive Business Park, encompass more than eight million square feet of manufacturing and industrial operations. They have been the primary driver in making the city a major “jobs hub” for Northeast Ohio, Painter said.
Building on that success, the city has received approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to expand Foltz Industrial Parkway, in Strongsville Business and Technology Park, 2,000 feet south toward Boston Road. The project had been delayed for years by environmental permitting issues. The road expansion, which will terminate in a cul-de-sac north of Boston Road, will create 86 acres of additional developable land, Painter said. “It is one of the largest undeveloped industrial sites remaining in Cuyahoga County,” he said. “Our focus is to bring jobs and employment opportunities and revenue through income tax that’ll help support our residential community through more revenue for police, more revenue for road repair, more
revenue for salt on the streets and the equipment that goes with it.”
The expansion will be located south of CCL Design’s new North American headquarters. “It will include some 13- or 14-acre sites to bring in the next generation of companies to develop in that park,” Painter said. Road construction is expected to start in 2025. The expansion will add to the many new businesses and expansion projects that were undertaken in the business parks over the past year.
The expansion of Momentive Technologies’ Lunn Road manufacturing facility and lease of a new corporate office
building for its global headquarters were among them. The company is an international supplier of boron nitrate, which is vital for the production of semiconductors and other products. “They are exceeding the job growth they expected when they came to Strongsville,” Painter said.
Also in 2024, Kraft Mobile Systems—formerly known as Kraft Fluid Systems—expanded its local footprint with the purchase of a 28,000-square-foot building adjacent to its existing facilities. The company provides hydraulics and electronics for lift systems, including those used in the city’s fire trucks.
Plidco, which specializes in pipeline leak repair and maintenance fittings, also expanded its facility in 2024. “They also were recognized as the best supplier for Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s oil arm and one of the largest companies in the world,” Painter said. “Businesses from across the world are investing in Strongsville, including businesses from Germany, France, the Netherlands, China, and Taiwan that have opened or expanded Strongsville facilities in the last few years.”
The city’s retail expansion is focused in large part on SouthPark Mall, which is expected to undergo some major changes in the next year, Painter said. Recent zoning changes approved by City Council have paved the way for some of those changes.
Among the most noticeable will be Dick’s House of Sports—a unique, interactive upgrade from the existing Dick’s Sporting Goods store, to be located at the site of the former Sears department store. “It will be the first one in Ohio,” Painter said. “It is designed to take shopping for sporting goods to another level. They will have a climbing wall and outdoor fields where you can test running shoes. Local teams will be able to utilize the facilities.” Plans also include digital golf and baseball simulators where guests can “play” popular courses and virtually take batting practice at historic venues like Chicago’s Wrigley Field. “This will be an exclusive location in Northeast Ohio,” Painter said.
In an era when many indoor malls are closing, SouthPark is evolving to meet new trends in shopping, he emphasized. “The mall is drawing more than 7 million people every year,” he said. “That is second only to Crocker Park among Northeast Ohio shopping venues.”
Zoning amendments will allow for “interactive experiences,” like amusement facilities and outdoor fields, in addition to hotels and medical end uses. “Those end uses would be beneficial to our residents, but also to the revenue that they provide to the city,” he said. “They create good paying jobs that would help to support the city’s tax revenue.” Just outside the mall, Activate Games, a liveaction gaming adventure, is expected to open soon in the former Office Max location.
In 2024, more than 20 new retail and dining businesses opened in the city, Painter said. “It’s been another busy year for economic development in Strongsville,” he said.

High quality general dentistry, implants, orthodontics, and the most advanced technology—right here in Strongsville
Even though dental offices can be found on almost every corner, exceptional practices are diamonds in the rough. And yes, Aerni Dental is one of those extraordinary diamonds.
Practicing for over 30 years, Dr. William Aerni is a general dentist who also performs dental implants and orthodontics. He’s an out-of-theordinary type of dentist who takes the time to listen to his patients and is never in a hurry.
A graduate from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Aerni earned the distinguished Robert James Award on February 3rd, 1996, in recognition of his dedication to the pursuit of excellence in general dentistry and implantology. He was also honored with the Midwest Implant Institute Honored Fellow Award on October 19th, 2024, which is a lifetime achievement award recognizing doctors for their contributions to implant dentistry. To this day, his mission is to provide the Gold Standard of Care to each patient and to leave them feeling happier, healthier, and more confident. To keep himself and his team at the top of their game, they pursue countless hours of continuing education–far more than is required.
Dr. Aerni, as well as all of his staff made every effort to make me feel as comfortable as possible during the procedure of prepping for and installing a crown. I would also add that their attention to the details of creating and fitting the crown were impeccable. I appreciate the fact that Dr. Aerni has invested in and learned to use the most up-to-date technology available in this field.”
– J. Elise H.
To achieve the Gold Standard of Care for each patient, Dr. Aerni designed a world-class facility with state-of-the-art technology so patients could have all their needs met in one location. He chose to build his practice overlooking the Metroparks because he wanted his patients to be able to experience the calming beauty of nature while receiving the best dental care available.
In addition to having his office in Strongsville, Dr. Aerni and his wife raised their five children here too. As a family man, he understands the challenges and pressures families face. It’s one of the reasons why he is passionate about Tip Edge orthodontics. He believes it’s the most comfortable, quickest, and cost effective way to achieve that beautiful smile for a lifetime.
While not all dental practices offer dental implants, it’s been a common procedure at Aerni Dental for over 29 years. Dr. Aerni has the experience you won’t find at most general dentist practices. He became a highly skilled implant surgeon by learning from the pioneers in the industry. Names you most likely never heard of, but dentists who are among the “who’s who” in dental implants.
Investing in the latest technology for better patient outcomes has always been what sets Aerni Dental apart from other dental practices. New technology to Aerni Dental is LANAP® Laser Surgery and X-Guide 3D Navigation. The LANAP Laser is used to treat gum disease, and regenerate bone and tissue. It is minimally invasive, destroys bacteria, and offers patients quicker recovery time than traditional surgery. The X-Guide® is the latest advanced dental implant technology that allows Dr. Aerni ultimate precision in implant placement. This means minimally invasive surgery with smaller incisions and faster recovery. Less than 1% of dentists offer this technology in the U.S.
I have been with Dr. Aerni since he had his first office in Strongsville, my family and I have NO reason to go anywhere else for ALL of our dental needs. His staff are some of the most kind and professional people I’ve experienced anywhere in any profession and are now more like family to us than anything else.”
– Rory F.
When he’s not with patients, Dr. Aerni can be found teaching dental implant surgery to dentists at the Midwest Implant Institute, the very same place he began his own implantology studies. He also enjoys outdoor activities and making memories with his growing family.
This is my third visit to Dr. Aerni. Today, I had a decayed tooth removed and an implant put in where the tooth was removed. I can’t say enough good about him and his entire staff! My appointment lasted 2 hours, went amazingly smooth, and virtually painless. I’ve never had such a great experience let alone having a tooth pulled and an implant put in on the same day! The high tech equipment used, along with Dr. Aerni and his dental assistants’ professionalism, was second to none. Every time I leave this office, I am more amazed than my previous visits, especially how they took care of me, and took the time to explain everything to me before the treatment started. Additionally, Dr. Aerni and his staff are always friendly, which takes away the uneasiness of going to the dentist!!!” – Andrew Z.

The real estate market in 2025 is continuing its impressive momentum, driven by a robust economy and a rich tapestry of industries within Cleveland’s lively cultural landscape. Our city has emerged as a popular choice for individuals and families eager to put down roots and make meaningful investments in their futures.
A key highlight of our local market is the consistently strong demand for housing. With an influx of newcomers and a thriving job market in Northeast Ohio, we’re seeing a notable increase in home-buying activity. This includes first-time buyers, those looking to upgrade, and individuals seeking smaller, more manageable homes. The appetite for both resale and new construction properties remains high, even as available inventory becomes more limited.
The graph at right shows inventory and pending sales trends over the last two years in Strongsville, displaying a high of 53 homes for sale in Sept 2024, to a low of 11 homes in March of 2024. The average price per square foot is also
very close to a two-year high at $149 and was only higher in March of this year at $161. This is all good news for Strongsville!
Local real estate professionals are leading the charge in this dynamic market, offering streamlined and effective services to meet your real estate needs. I take great pride in being part of this vibrant market as we support our clients in navigating the continuously changing real estate landscape of 2025.

Parkview Homes and the Puzzitiello Family have been building new homes in Strongsville since 1974. Anticipation has been at an all-time high for Parkview Homes’ final “Master Planned” community in Strongsville — Park Ridge Crossings, which opened in November 2024. Park Ridge Crossings offers custom single-family homes and luxury limited-maintenance villa homes — Hidden Creek Villas.
With fewer homes coming to market in Strongsville and the rest of Northeast Ohio, buyers must be ready to act on existing homes as soon as they become available and should be prepared to pay listing price or over listing price. On average, existing homes are selling in 21 days (according to MLS data). Whether they are “empty-nesters’’ who want to “right-size” their home in one of our custom detached luxury limited-maintenance villas (1,700 – 2,500 sq ft) or families who are expanding and want more room in one of our custom luxury single-family homes (3,400 – 5,000+ sq ft), customers want to stay in Strongsville and are willing to pay a little more for a new home to get exactly what they want.
Consumer trends include white kitchen cabinetry, rustic hardwood flooring, beamed ceilings, large tile showers, sunrooms (instead of living and dining rooms), bathrooms attached to each bedroom, and covered outdoor living spaces. New home construction continues to have a labor shortage. It is important to choose a builder that has trades and vendors that can build your home in a timely manner. It typically takes 7 to 9 months to build a new home, so you really have to plan ahead.

CALMING the Storm
By Michael Louwers, MD
The sympathetic nervous system (SNS) controls the body’s “fight or flight” response, crucial for survival but detrimental when overly active. An imbalance between this reactive mechanism and
the calming “rest and digest” system leads to a condition known as “dysautonomia.” This condition can trigger chronic health problems such as anxiety, PTSD, and chronic inflammation by disrupting the body’s stress regulation. Individuals affected may suffer from hypervigilance, restlessness, increased heart rate, and muscle tension. These symptoms can worsen mental health challenges, hinder effective treatment, and create a cycle of insomnia, emotional instability, and anxiety.
Traditional therapies such as talk therapy, EMDR, and medications can be effective, but for some patients, they provide only modest benefits. A noteworthy treatment for dysautonomia is the stellate ganglion block (SGB). FDAapproved for specific types of nerve pain, it is now being used off-label to address anxiety disorders, PTSD, and long covid, among other conditions. The stellate ganglion, a cluster of nerves in the neck, is essential for managing the sympathetic nervous system’s stress responses. An injection of local anesthetic can be placed around this ganglion to disrupt the excessive signals and reduce the body’s stress response. Reset Medical and Wellness Center has optimized this procedure and named it the Neuro Sympathetic Reset (NSR).
Studies show NSR can safely and effectively treat up to 80% of individuals with anxiety, PTSD, and related disorders. It can provide immediate relief and optimize success with traditional therapies. While NSR is not a cure, it offers long-term benefits, reducing stress responses for months to years. Its ability to provide rapid and lasting relief highlights its potential as a valuable tool in the comprehensive management of mental health. For more information visit theresetcenter.com

FOR APPOINTMENTS
Rebuilding Urban Tree Canopy
Nine Homeowner’s Associations (HOAs) worked with Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) and the City of Strongsville to take unused common areas maintained as turf grass and restore them to a natural area. Planting a mix of native trees, shrubs, grasses, and wildflowers creates a beautiful area for recreation while reducing the gas and fertilizer consumed for landscaping.
The inspiration for this program came from Jennifer Milbrandt, Natural Resources Coordinator for the City of Strongsville, and her work rebuilding the city’s urban forest. Jennifer has previously created an inventory of all the forested areas in the city and found that each year there is a net loss to urban canopy. Yet past programs to reforest urban areas have been met with some challenges; planting more trees leads to an increased need for leaf removal in the fall. Simultaneously, multiple HOAs approached Jennifer about how to reduce the burden of landscaping costs. Jennifer saw an opportunity to work with Cuyahoga SWCD and address these concerns with a “Re-Naturing Program” that incentivizes HOAs to stop mowing turf grass in unused common areas and plant native species instead. An added bonus is that by planting in these unused areas there is no need for leaf removal in the fall. Visit www.cuyahogaswcd.org for more information about their urban conservation efforts, including stormwater, watershed, and natural resource management.
By
Meg Hennessey, from the Cuyahoga Soil & Water Conservation District Fall 2024 newsletter
Pictured: This HOA had a large field (about 2 acres) behind their tennis courts that their landscaper was mowing, but no one was using. After discussing with CSWCD, they drew up a new plan for the site. Similar to other HOAs they continue to mow a walking trail, but the rest of the area has been replanted with native trees, shrubs, wildflower seed, and native grasses. While the planted trees and shrubs are still small, already the area has bloomed into a great display of native wildflowers. This HOA has placed a bench and tables for residents to sit and enjoy nature while out for a walk. While the HOA was previously spending money on gas and labor to maintain a blank field of turf grass (which provides no wildlife benefit and absorbs very little runoff – our nickname for turf grass is “green concrete”) they now are saving money while having the added benefit of a natural area to enjoy.

The Strongsville Historical Society has been a fixture in Strongsville for over 60 years, founded in 1962 by Howard and Velda Chapman who had a vision to create an organization to protect the heritage of our community. Our Historical Village is situated on roughly three acres with eight historic buildings, each between 100 and 200 years old, and has been a hidden gem in the center of Strongsville that preserves and interprets the history, significance, and traditions of our community.
They have multiple annual events to bring residents back to reminisce about Strongsville’s history – Memorial Day Open House, Harvest Festival in September, Trick-or-Treat in November, and Christmas activities the first two weekends each December. All of their buildings contain fascinating displays of various subject matter – military history, Velda’s doll collection, a Roe Millinery hat collection, a historic schoolhouse setting, the Olds General Store with hundreds of items representing what would have been sold 100 years ago, historic farm tool and home workshop displays, a cabin demonstrating life in the 1820s, and more. Through the generous donations of historical items over the years, their collection has grown to more than 15,000 items, almost 5,000 of which represent historic photos and documents of significance.
The village is open for tours every Wednesday from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm, March through October. Tours can otherwise be scheduled by appointment, and they have a wonderful meeting space available for rent for groups of up to 40 people. Each May, all of the 3rd grade classes in Strongsville look forward to the annual field trip to the village where they learn about Strongsville life a century ago.
They are always looking for new members, new volunteers, and funding that will position them to continue protecting this legacy for generations to come. They are a totally volunteer-run organization and receive no government funding for operations. Everything is funded through donations and grants. Please visit strongsvillehistoricalsociety.org or their Facebook page @Strongsville Historical Society for more information about how you can get involved with this very worthy cause.

THE FLAG PEOPLE
The Kiwanis Club of Strongsville is a service organization dedicated to improving the quality of life of the children of Strongsville. The Club celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2020. We are responsible for the wonderful American flag display at Town Square. Local businesses and private citizens secure a sign and sponsor a flag that is hoisted on every national holiday. The Kiwanis Club uses these monies to fund our high school scholarship program and other projects in the community. Other such projects include:
▸ Adopt A Family: Kiwanis gives “cash gift cards” to needy families in the community.
▸ Memory Bags: a bag of age-appropriate support items for grieving students.
▸ Read Around the World: a reading promotion event for preschoolers through 2nd graders.
▸ Finally, our Club just pledged $20,000 to the downtown enhancement project
The Kiwanis Club is very proud of its sponsorship of three service clubs that include: The Strongsville Middle School Builders Club, St. Joseph & John School Builders Club, and The Strongsville High School Key Club.
The 6th through 12th graders who make up these clubs participate/volunteer in a variety of community activities. For example, these young adults will assist the Kiwanis Club in hoisting the 110 American Flags and Sponsor Signs at Town Square.
A few years ago, we began to hoist the six flags of the United States Armed Forces. This includes the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard. Our Club looks for every opportunity to recognize and honor our Veterans. These unique flags can be viewed on the southeast corner of Pearl and Royalton Roads behind the brick wall. Interestingly enough, there is an Order of Precedence based on the seniority of the services. The year of origin of each branch is a factor in seniority: Army 1775 (June); Marine Corps 1775 (Oct.); Navy 1775 (Nov.); Air Force 1939 (Sept.); Space Force 2019 (Dec.); and the Coast Guard (1790). The Coast Guard is not considered a military branch but a military service subservient to the Navy.
Of course, when the flag of the United States of America is displayed with these six flags, it should be larger and flown higher. Kiwanis members, like many of Strongsville’s citizens, enjoy the regimentation found in our military.
Our Club is very devoted to the United States of America! When you join us at our monthly meeting on the second Wednesday of each month, don’t be surprised when we begin the session with the Pledge of Allegiance. We gather at the Strongsville Senior Center at 6:30 p.m. See you soon! For more information visit strongsvillekiwanis.com

Strongsville Community Theatre has entertained audiences since 1995, with quality plays, musicals, and youth productions, showcasing local talent and educating students and adults in theatrical arts. They have a lot of exciting plans in the works as they celebrate their 30th Anniversary!
In 2025, they are bringing back a renewed focus on youth programming. They will be offering youth summer camps and workshops to introduce theatrical arts to children and teens in the community. They have also partnered with Strongsville City Schools to reestablish a drama club at SMS and provide support to the SHS Theatre program.
SCT awards scholarships to SHS students wishing to pursue a career in the performing arts, awarding thousands of dollars in scholarships over the past five years. Every fall they host a special tribute show benefiting the Jean Thom Scholarship fund.
