Moomba

Light Up Your Long Weekend

A long-held and much-loved tradition, Moomba has been a part of Melbourne life for more than half a century and is celebrated as a time of sharing joy for people of all backgrounds and cultures. From the less than graceful gliding into the Yarra of the zany participants in the Birdman Rally, to the colourful pyrotechnic displays held on each of the three nights of the festival, Moomba is a light-hearted and fun gathering of the community, attracting more than 700,000 visitors over the duration of the March Labour Day long weekend. The Moomba Parade has long been a key part of the festival, and encapsulates the vibrant community spirit that the event is all about with its colourful and imaginative floats, featuring the monarchs of the year, the Moomba King and Queen.
