Earth Hour

Flick The Switch

After comparatively humble beginnings five years ago as an environmental awareness initiative in Sydney, Earth Hour has truly become a global event, spanning every continent and including homes, businesses and landmarks in more than 135 countries in 2011. This year, organisers are hoping that 1.3 billion people around the world will unite in recognising and confronting the challenges our planet faces, symbolising a commitment to reducing our impact on the earth. From 8:30pm on Saturday March 31st, participants will switch off their lights for an hour, in recognition of the difference a united community can make in reducing our environmental impact. One of the best things about the initiative is that everyone can participate, and the concept provides an excellent excuse to gather together with friends and family and perhaps enjoy some acoustic entertainment in the spirit of the event.
