Idea I found an old note I had kept from when I was younger were I had redesigned the alphabet to create a secret language. I thought that was would be interesting to make digital. The letter forms were made up from rearranging the lines that form the standard English alphabet letter-forms to create a new arrangement.

I recreated these symbols digitally. I altered the line cap and corner to form a curved edge as the font is playful and fun in nature and therefore I think having a smooth edge enhances this personality. I also chose a pastel playful colour scheme for the typeface to reinforce its personality.

The font I called the font Jibber Jabber: A playful and fun secret language configured through the rearrangement of lines used to create a letter-form. This brief was a quick brief out of personal experimentation. Type is something that I’m not particularly skilled in over other attributes of design therefore it was out of my comfort zone to be creating one. However by approaching it in this visual and interesting way drawing inspiration from my childhood imagination I was able to explore it in a unique way.

Result The final result of the typeface is really visual and the letterforms look like symbols rather than actual letters. Collectively I think it looks interesting and although slightly cryptic in nature I think it also lends itself to be slightly understood as its not completely ambiguous when written out. This font obviously wouldn’t be used as written text but I think it could work as a title font or decorative letterforms for particular subject matters such as native or tribal design.
