...
Since 2005, Imperial has been involved in the creation of some of the most important luxury vessels the world has ever seen – and yet superyacht construction is just a small part of what we do.
The same is true of our approach to charter. In addition to a scale and specification of yacht unmatched anywhere in the world, a great many of our in-house team have first-hand experience of global circumnavigation. It brings us unparalleled knowledge of yachts, of yachting regions and of the logistical challenges involved in charter – and it means we can be on hand to provide assistance 24 hours a day, every day of the year, wherever in the world you choose to cruise. No doubts; no quibbles; just an all-encompassing 360-degree service from people who know how special life on the water can be.
From initial concept, through design and build, to management, maintenance, marketing and finance, we are equipped to take command of every element of the modern yachting experience. In order to do that effectively, we have had to become a global, multifaceted company, but today, as ever, our mission remains very simple. It is to make luxury yachting better; to eradicate the complication; to smooth out the logistics; to enable those who put their faith in us to enjoy their time on the water just that little bit more.
Welcome to the 2018 Charter Directory. Welcome to a better yachting experience. ... Evgeniy Kochman, CEO Imperial Julia Stewart, Monaco Office Director

HOW TO C HARTER TEN KEY QUESTIONS ... Whether you are new to yachting or a seasoned adventurer, Imperials expertise in the charter industry enables it to create and oversee a broad range of fuss-free yacht charter experiences. Our specialist teams are well equipped to answer any queries you might have but for those starting out, these ten basic questions are a good place to begin.

... Call the Imperial team and you will be assigned a charter broker – a specialist who will listen to your requirements, from destination and timings to interests and special requests. A recommended yacht and itinerary will then be presented to you on the basis of this conversation.
TA I L O R E D T O REFLECT MY TA S T E S?
... Absolutely. Tell Imperial about the ages, tastes and profiles of those involved, because an itinerary can be designed to encompass everything from cultural tours, sporting events and active pursuits to lazy days ashore or long, undisturbed evenings at anchor.
... That depends on whether there is adequate capacity to accommodate extra personnel. If so, you can certainly take your own staff but if not, Imperial is always able to organise first-class staff on your behalf.
... It’s fine to take children on board and if you talk to your broker in advance it may even be permissible to take the family pet. The yacht, destination, crew and itinerary can also be orchestrated to suit your needs, with family-friendly catering, destinations and pursuits all built into the plan.
OFFER C O R P O R AT E CHARTERS?
... Yes. Whether you book a charter yacht for client entertainment or staff reward, it makes a fresh and invigorating change from the norm. It can be the perfect hideaway for discreet business negotiations – and with some vessels capable of accommodating dozens of people at a time, there are very few venues that can match it for an upmarket conference.

... Just relax. There are no prescriptive expectations. Dress in whatever way makes you feel comfortable and behave in whatever way enables you to enjoy your charter to the utmost. Your crew will always be rigorously professional and entirely discreet.
... In addition to the basic charter cost, there is usually an Advanced Provisioning Allowance (APA) of around 30%. This enables the crew to stock up on fuel and food in accordance with the input of your charter broker. Any funds left over will be returned to you.
10 ... The timing and scale of any tips are of course at your discretion. However, the average is around 10% of the charter value and this can be paid at the end of your voyage, either directly to the Captain or indirectly via your broker.

... Yes. Like a holiday, you can specify the venue and the duration; you can organise it around a specific highprofile event such as the Cannes Film Festival; and you can benefit from the same comprehensive level of staffing as a luxury charter, with all service and catering provided.
... The crew tends to come with the yacht, so repeat charter customers will often specify a particular vessel in order to be certain of a reunion. However, if this is your first charter, tell your broker what kind of crew you favour. From relaxed and outgoing to slick and formal, a yacht can then be selected to match your preference.

... Rose, what’s your role at Amels? Damen’s Yachting Division comprises Amels and also Yacht Support and SeaXplorer. I moved to Yachting from our Naval Division because it’s relatively autonomous. It means I basically lead my own division now. We’re about two hours away from our Head Office so I don’t bump into my father and brother every day and I can enjoy the freedom to do my own thing – and because I’m involved in the operational side as well as the commercial side, my involvement doesn’t stop when I sign the contracts. I stay directly involved with the project management and the client, all the way to the end of the project and even thereafter. It’s very important to look after our clients once they leave the shipyard – and we have a worldwide Damen service network in more than 50 countries to help achieve that. As a woman in a pivotal position, are you able to bring a fresh perspective to the male-dominated yacht construction industry? When I started here, most people around me were male and a little bit older, but being eager to learn and unafraid of taking new steps has really helped me. The fact that I have a background in finance as well as shipbuilding has also enabled me to bring a new and relevant set of skills to the table. And I’m also a strong believer in diversity. But when I say ‘diversity’, I don’t just mean in terms of men and women. I mean in terms of professional background and nationality. We have people from Spain, Romania, Poland, Germany, all over the world - and it’s that kind of diversity that makes a team strong. Is it also that kind of diversity that makes Amels so effective? Yes, that’s part of it. People here are very passionate about what they do. Many of our employees have been working for us for a long time – some for more than 25 years and quite a few for more than 40 years. So there is a real loyalty in our company culture. The know-how of the wider Damen Group also helps. We spend a lot of time and money on research and development and that’s for all our divisions, including yacht construction. We actively encourage the rotation of our people throughout the group to help learn new things that they can bring back to their respective areas. ... 01 60m M/Y Event 02 Rose Damen, Commercial Director, Damen Yachting Division 03 Recent launch M/Y Lili 55m, underway in the fjords

So how does your collaboration with Imperial work? We’ve delivered eight vessels together since 2009, so Imperial is an extremely important partner for us. BEL ABRI was our first joint project and the most recent was LILI (the most customized Limited Editions Amels 180 vessel ever delivered by the yard). The Imperial team is continually at the yard, the communication is excellent, we know each other well and we trust each other completely. So far, all the projects we’ve delivered together have been on time and on budget – and what strikes me about working with the Imperial team is that there is a similarly passionate level of involvement. Everything is very well organised and the client gets a lot of assistance and advice at every level, from basic materials to tenders and marketing. Like me, Mr Kochman is very much involved from day one, right through the life cycle of a yacht, so there’s a very natural fit between our companies.
Which of your yachts gives you the greatest pride? Personally, I love EVENT (the very first of the Limited Editions Amels 199 range). That’s a project we delivered with Imperial in 2013. Some people call her a ‘Marmite Boat’, because the external design is so different. But it’s Tim Heywood, it’s special, it stands out and it’s very Amels. So many people know her, so many people admire her and she might be different but I think she’s beautiful. I’m also proud of LILI, our most recent delivery with Imperial, because the layout is so special. The owner’s cabin is actually on the bridge deck with a beautiful view and a private terrace and I love to spend time on board.

What for you is the key appeal of a charter holiday? For me it’s just about undisturbed quality time with friends and family. You don’t have to worry about anything, you can do whatever you like and while there’s certainly a lot of privacy, you always have your nearest and dearest close by.

So what makes a great charter yacht? In the first instance, it needs to be a yacht without any headaches. But having chartered one of our 55-metre yachts last summer with my family, I have to say that the crew is also really important. You can build a brilliant yacht but it’s really 50:50 – the quality of the yacht and the quality of the crew. Those two things go hand-in-hand and if the food or the service isn’t quite up to standard, it’s not as enjoyable. But I have to admit, we also have a yacht ourselves. It’s only 65 feet and my Dad is the Captain and we, as kids, are the crew. It’s a sailing boat of course and it’s a much more basic experience than a superyacht charter but we love it because it brings such a sense of freedom.
What kinds of on board toy do you most enjoy? I dived on a submarine earlier this year for the first time. We went down to more than 100 metres and it’s just so thrilling to see what’s going on. It’s completely dark and unexplored. It feels like a real adventure – and if you’re spending time on the water, why not explore what life is like below the surface? There are still a lot of exciting things to be seen out there.
What’s your favourite charter destination? For a tropical area, I would definitely say the Bahamas, because the water is so crystal clear, with so many contrasting shades of blue. There’s also so much to do, from fun destinations to private islands - but actually, my favourite cruising area is the Inside Passage, from Alaska to Canada. It’s the wilderness, the wildlife. You can get really close to the islands and see some amazing variations in the landscapes. If you start in Gletsjer Bay and cruise south towards Vancouver, you can take in some beautiful green islands, with bears and salmon and lots of whales and dolphins. It’s really quite stunning and the privacy is also wonderful.
What kinds of design feature do you expect to see emerging on charter yachts in the next ten years? I think what we will see in both the charter industry and the general yacht market is a greater focus on active lifestyles. You will find that charter clients want to go off the beaten track in remote destinations and explore in a more active way. One of the projects we did with Imperial was Support Vessel 6711 and that adds a huge amount of value to the yachting experience. You can have submarines on board, large tenders, helicopters and small seaplanes – so I think that exploring our surroundings in a more active way is definitely going to shape the future. ... 05 Maritime modernism – 60m M/Y Event 06 M/Y Lili cruising Norwegian waters during summer 2017 07 Evgeniy Kochman, Rose Damen & René Berkvens, CEO Damen 08 M/Y Lili Master suite outfitted by Laura Sessa 09 Damen-built 67m support vessel Support Vessel 6711 10 Bridge deck Support Vessel 6711

My parents would take me there every weekend and we sailed all kinds of dinghies, from clinker-built sailboats to Gulls and Lasers. Later on at college, when I was studying threedimensional design, I wanted to design a boat as my final project. They said I could only do that if I found a tutor who would take me on, so after some research, I found Jon Bannenberg and knocked on his door. He took pity on me and agreed, so I was very lucky. At the age of about 21, I then got a job as a yacht skipper. I sailed across the Atlantic from Ibiza to Antigua on a 52-foot sail-boat and spent four months running the boat in the Caribbean. It had been John’s idea for me to go sailing and learn about yachting, so when I came back, I wrote to him, asking for a job and he told me to come round and see him. He took me on as a pencil sharpener and barista and the rest is history. Does your sailing heritage continue to define your approach to design? Yes it does. Sailing in a Laser dinghy on your own, when the tide’s against you and you’re hardly moving, gives you a lot of time to look at all the moored boats. I found a great many of them were ugly and I always thought I could design better looking boats myself. My very first project as an independent designer was the deck and interior of a Swan 36 and there are now two Swan 36s, each about 30 years old, sitting on the moorings in Bosham Harbour. When I sail there now, it’s a really nice treat to see my own designs. What are the key challenges in designing a vessel for charter? When I approach each project, my objective is to identify the target of the job. So if I’m looking at a charter yacht, I have to find out from the owner whether he’s looking at one week of charter each year or 20. Does he want to charter from Monaco or does he want to charter all over the world, from Iceland to Antarctica, as well as Monaco? You have to find the target of the design before you can design the project successfully. But the key thing on a charter yacht is that it’s not a private yacht for the charterer – it’s the holiday location for their family and their guests as well. Every single person who is on that boat has to enjoy themselves, because the person paying the bill doesn’t want to hear from a friend that the bed is too small or the water coming out of the tap is discoloured. The smallest personal detail can make all the difference to a good charter holiday. ... 01 M/Y Cloud 9 (CRN 74m) exhibiting a sublime Winch interior. What kind of yacht do you personally tend to charter? Before I decided to buy my own boat, which I designed with Philippe Briand, I chartered three different sailboats of three different sizes – and that’s something I recommend that all our clients do. I chartered a 90-foot, three-cabin boat called WHIRLWIND, which had three guest bedrooms. Then I chartered a four-cabin, 108-foot, carbon fibre sloop that I again built with Philippe Briand. And the biggest boat I chartered was in Turkey – a boat called JAZZ JUNIOR, which was about 115 feet. She had six crew, HAMILTON had five crew and WHIRLWIND had four crew - and while they all had their strengths, what it taught us was that we wanted fewer crew than any of them. It pushed the size of the boat I wanted to use and sail myself down to a level that just two crew could handle.
What about yacht-based entertainments? On the boat itself, I love a good cinema. When you party all day, you can be pretty tired at night so a movie cinema is great. A good music system for some dancing is also important. If you’ve got a bunch of friends on one, two or three boats, all cruising together, there’s a lot of fun to be had after dinner if you want to get partying. And dancing and music is what a holiday’s all about. After all, you don’t go to St Tropez without going to the nightclub and you don’t go to Monaco on a yacht without going to Jimmy’z.
What do you look for in a charter holiday? I don’t think there’s any point in a charter yacht that doesn’t have a good tender. And a good tender is not about the size. It’s about how it’s driven, how dry it is and how comfortable it is. And related to that is of course a good crew. You need a safe, happy, non-smoking and experienced crew – and that’s particularly important, because your charter experience starts ashore, in anticipation of reaching the charter yacht. When you get to that tender, the crew should know who you are. They should know what to call you. Do they call you ‘Sir’, ‘Your Highness’, or just ‘Andrew’. They should know how you and your family want to be referenced. They should know what your pleasures and satisfactions are; what you enjoy doing; your sports; your food; your habits. Good charter companies compile a very in-depth document – and that can be pretty boring for the guests to fill in, so a good charter experience ought to start with your Charter Manager visiting you. Because, as we’re doing in this interview, it’s much nicer having an earnest conversation. ... 04 M/Y Madame Gu, Feadship 99m. Designed by Winch Design in 2013
What kinds of on board toy do you most value? I like water-skiing; dinghy sailing; scuba diving. I think Seabobs are cool too. I would love to try a Sea Breacher, which is a twoseater submarine that looks like a dolphin; and I’d love to do some heli-skiing from a yacht in Alaska too. I would make sure I took a very experienced guide who knew the mountains well because avalanches are always a danger, but that would be great. And I’d love to have the ability to fly from a boat – either by helicopter or by small seaplane. The idea of saying ‘Let’s fly to the top of the mountain and have a barbecue as the sun goes down’ - that’s a pretty cool thing. Take the chairs up in the helicopter; come back and take up the chef, then the guests and wow – when they arrive they’ve got this event laid on for them at the top of a mountain.

So what has been your most memorable charter experience? I was sailing upwind on JAZZ JUNIOR, helming her myself, full main. She was a sloop. We were doing about 11 knots upwind, with water down the side-deck. Everyone was laughing; everyone was happy; but I felt so exhilarated at the opportunity to sail such a big boat.
What’s your favourite charter season? I’ve swum with seals in the Scilly Isles, with two wetsuits on and a mask and hood. That lasted about 15 minutes but I wasn’t prepared to be in the water any longer than that. I’m definitely a hot water man. My pool at home is between 30 and 32 degrees and the swimming in the Aeolian Islands in September is about 31 degrees, so that’s perfect. I think warm water really helps make a great charter holiday.
What’s your favourite charter destination? Well we’re closely involved with Imperial in supporting the Blue Marine Foundation by means of the London-to-Monaco Bike Challenge. The idea is to raise money to create marine reserves, so I’ve just got back from cruising the Sicilian Aeolian Islands, which is one of the key regions we’re looking at. The reserve has not been initiated yet but plainly, it remains essential to make it happen because I saw virtually no fish. Having said that, it really is one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen. In fact, it’s almost magical because the islands are all volcanoes – and hiking up Stromboli from our boat and ending up at about ten o’clock at night in the dark at the top of the volcano’s bowl, seeing it literally exploding beneath us, with lava pouring out and rocks firing into the sky. That was magic. It wasn’t human. It wasn’t contrived. It was unmade. But it was the true magic of the world.
What kinds of design features do you expect to see on charter yachts over the next decade or so? Glass is probably the future of yacht design and engineering. I think you have to really look at your yacht and think about where the windows need to be; work out when you want to look at an external view and when you want to look at each other. We’ve already designed a yacht with windows in the cinema and people have queried that. But if you have a 110-inch daylight flatscreen, you can watch the sport in the afternoon or the Grand Prix in Malaysia at ten in the morning – and come the evening, there is a full screen and a projector. That sort of thing is very cool. We are currently designing two or three yachts with a significant amount more glass than we’ve ever used before, so I certainly expect to see a greater variety of views on yachts of the future. ... 05 06 07 08 09 10

Monaco might be the world’s second smallest country but its reputation as the wealthiest and most glamorous place on earth is fully deserved. Ignore the beaches and head for the old town with its royal palace, luxury boutiques and beautiful urbanites. The Café de Paris, Louis XV restaurant and Casino de Monte Carlo are particularly memorable.
Eze is an impossibly picturesque Provençal village. Perching precariously on the edge of a steep cliff, its ancient zigzag streets are great for a stroll and there are plenty of art galleries, shops and restaurants to entertain. Nearby St Jean Cap Ferrat, with its white sandy beaches, verdant hillsides and enviable peninsula setting, is home to some of the most expensive residential properties in the world.
Cap d’Antibes is a place of enduring legend. In addition to the expansive Juan-les-Pins beach resort, the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, with its private beach, spa and restaurant, is a well-established hotspot for touring glitterati. A short distance inland lies Vence, one of the best preserved medieval settlements in the region and a famous hub for artistic inspiration.
St Tropez is notorious for its high-end hedonism and nearby Pampelonne Beach has been a shining exponent of that ethos since Brigitte Bardot first embraced it in the 1950s. Today, the town’s old port is a great spot for superyacht cocktails and St Tropez itself is full of bars and nightclubs. The star-studded Caves du Roy is a particular highlight.

As a historical refuge for the pampered elite, the balmy Ligurian resort of San Remo is arguably the showiest destination on the Riviera. This Roman settlement is a hotbed of ritzy, casino-style night-life, the enormous harbour is a renowned superyacht hub and the bars, shops and cafés ooze with appropriate cosmopolitanism.
The fabled Italian fishing village of Portofino nestles between herb-strewn hillsides in a protected reserve at the apex of a turquoise inlet. Its pristine loveliness is deeply affecting but don’t discount the nearby port towns of Santa Margherita and Rapallo. They might be less gentrified, but for the charter yacht explorer, they’re every bit as memorable.
The promenade and the high-spec marina sit right at the heart of this traditional seaside resort – and while the town’s shipbuilding roots have largely given way to tourism, the youthful energy of the upmarket beach scene is extremely attractive. Viareggio also makes an ideal stopover for a day-trip to Pisa or Florence.
The Tuscan seaside resort of Porto Ercole wraps itself around a natural deep-water harbour with an expansive and entertaining marina at its heart. Up on the hill, various 16th century fortifications keep watch over the town’s pastille-coloured streets and the seasonal effervescence in and around the long promenade is brilliantly infectious.

In addition to a buzzing arts scene, a plentiful supply of high-class dive sites and a beautiful old harbour, it offers several classical districts, where the manic mishmash of multicoloured villas plunges steeply to the sea.
The impossibly lovely headland settlement of Portovenere is a wonderful place to sit among the waterfront villas and revel in the quiet prestige, the rustic elegance and the maritime gentility of it all. From here, Cinque Terre is also within reach – a mountainous shoreline encompassing five famously unspoiled fishing villages.
The Isle of Elba feels like a Caribbean paradise in the middle of the Med. Its shores are blessed with lofty headlands, sandy bays and protected rural landscapes. Its clear, richly stocked waters are great for diving and Portoferraio, the historic centre, is at once an authentic fishing town and a sophisticated leisure destination.

Sicily’s capital is one of the bestpreserved ancient Greek cities in the world. But while the archaeological gems of the north-west quarter enjoy particular renown, the Old City (Ortigia), a compact island and the original heart of the settlement, is the primary draw. Expect ancient palazzos rich in sculpture, alongside shops and night-life that (despite its time-capsule loveliness) are among the most varied and vibrant you will find.
The glorious medieval town of Taormina, built into the side of a mountain by Greek colonists, is full of historical sites. The Teatro Greco is not to be missed; and parts of the ‘Gymnasium’, where athletes trained for the ancient Olympics, also survive. However, modern Taormina is also a lavish resort town, so for a shopping expedition to remember, head for Corso Umberto.
Stromboli, the ‘Lighthouse of the Mediterranean’, is actually an active volcano with a scattering of curious black sand beaches to the northeast. Habitation is minimal and the island’s famed beauty is of a harsh, elemental kind. Adventurous visitors can get a closer look at the daily eruptions on a guided hike, but a night approach by yacht gives an even better view of the flashes emanating from the crater.
With sulphurous emissions filling the harbour and hissing from the pavements, you can smell Vulcano long before you arrive. However, if you can tolerate the scent, it makes a memorable retreat. You can visit its smoking crater, kayak its wild shoreline and bathe in its volcanic muds, before washing yourself clean in the sea, which fizzes with hot gases from the seabed.

Giardini-Naxos enjoys a long crescent-shaped beach of the finest white sand with memorable views out to sea. Otherwise, why not head for the Old Town’s designer boutiques or the excellent seafood restaurants in the harbour itself.

Known as the ‘Doorway to Sicily’ (and the setting for Shakespeare’s ‘Much Ado About Nothing’), Messina’s links to the arts has cemented its place as a must-visit destination. Originally named ‘Zancle’ due to the scythe-like shape of the harbour, the town’s colourful history is manifested in a busy architectural clash of churches, forts and ancient foundations that fan out from the Piazza del Duomo.
In the absence of cars, the best way to get around Panarea is by means of golf-cart taxis. There are plenty of secluded bays, particularly in the southeast, where you can anchor up and head ashore for a hike to the ruins; and there are plenty of private beaches with stunning volcanic views. Otherwise, San Pietro, where luxury yachts create a vibrant summer vibe, is definitely the place to be.

Greek and Roman tombs can be seen in the park and some magnificent Aeolian artefacts can be witnessed in the Archaeological Museum.

There are four primary islands in the Balearics chain – Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera – and with more than 300 days of sun each year, they enjoy a superb yachting climate. Perched on a ridge above a salt-water inlet, Mahon is a very charming, small-scale and intimate city, with indisputably elegant Georgian-style architecture and a relaxed alfresco food culture that quickly salves the mind. Though it enjoys a pleasant seasonal buzz, it’s rarely overcrowded outside of the riotous Nuestra Señora de Gràcia Festival in September.
Alcudia, northern Mallorca’s biggest holiday resort, offers plenty of white sandy bays with easy gradients and warm shallow waters. Meanwhile, in the old town, heaped up within the vast peripheral ramparts, a blend of boutique shops, lively markets and quality restaurants adds some mature continental chic to the region’s family-friendly offering.
The elegant alfresco entertainment and suave cosmopolitanism of Palma de Mallorca make it a huge charter favourite. The glittering marina is full of outrageously high-end yachts and the town itself is a thriving year-round bastion of artistic and cultural vivacity, with buzzing bars and cafés, beautiful beaches and complex networks of atmospheric back-streets to explore.
Ibiza Town might be famous for Café del Mar, Pacha and the Sunset Strip, but this 24-hour party destination is as much about superyachts as nightclubs. Down at the marina, there is upmarket food and artisan shopping – and with 2,700 years of history, the crass neon glitz is well matched by high-end sophistication and cultural authenticity.

EAST MEDITERRANEAN
... For those left cold by tourist artifice, the modest cultural authenticity of the Eastern Mediterranean feels very special. Croatia’s island-strewn Adriatic shore is tailor-made for sheltered cruising; in Greece, the ancient maritime folklore of the various archipelagos is a classicist’s dream; in the sultry, coral-rich shallows of the Red Sea, diving takes centre stage; and on Turkey’s Aegean coast, the fusion of east and west creates a thrilling cultural dynamic. EAST MEDITERRANEAN WITH M/Y ASTRA
WHEN TO GO APRIL – OCTOBER
...
...
IY: Trevor, what’s the key appeal behind the Eastern Mediterranean? TO: Well, one of the main attractions is the extended summer. In Turkey, the summer lasts into September, October and even the early parts of November. At that time, most of the Mediterranean is beginning to cool down and the weather gets a little less stable, so for guests who want to push on through, Turkey’s a really good option. It stays hot, it stays relatively calm and the water temperatures are also very pleasant. The other thing is that Turkey and Croatia both offer some very natural cruising areas, with lots of islands to provide shelter from the winds. While the coastlines of Italy and France are now extremely built up, in Turkey, Croatia and parts of Greece you are still able to find long stretches with virtually no development.
Are there any particularly special destinations? It’s easy to impress people in Croatia because it is bejewelled with so many amazing places and rewarding anchorages. For fun-loving guests, places like Hvar and Korcula are very satisfying, but taking the yacht up the Krka River, through the lakes is spectacular. The guests are greeted with a wonderland of rocks and cliff faces and beautiful waterfalls, with quaint little villages and the Krka National Park on its doorstep. The other thing with Croatia is its history. There are a lot of medieval towns, so a walk or a meal ashore has a certain magic that is extremely difficult to find in other parts of the Med. As for Turkey, you need a bit of experience on your side, but places like Gocek offer amazing tranquillity among islands, which are unspoilt and, for the most part, undisturbed by other people. You can get away from it all and have a truly relaxing experience.
So how does that lack of development affect the charter experience? It has advantages and disadvantages, but for the guest who wants to get away and enjoy some peace and relaxation, it’s definitely attractive. You’re able to experience the Med as it must have been many years ago – and culture-wise, if a charter guest is keen on exploring some historical sites, this region can fulfil those ambitions too. Shore-side support can be more challenging than in the west, but with our extensive experience in these parts, we’re able to anticipate that and work around it. Does it attract seasoned charter guests rather than first-timers? Most of our guests have already travelled a lot of the central and western Med, so having witnessed the regular cruising grounds, this is an area they like to venture into. We’re able to run with that by offering them a more natural landscape and a much more varied palette of options than in France or Italy. And as the Captain, any place in the world where I can offer my guests experiences they haven’t had before is really enjoyable.
Is the shore-side food worth seeking out? Turkey’s tourist infrastructure needs to develop a bit to satisfy the really cultured palate – but for great Turkish food, we like to arrange a shore-side dinner with local chefs, all integrated into a full evening experience with belly dancers and fire dancers. That’s the best way to experience rustic Turkish cuisine - cooked by the locals in a customised environment where we can give the guests a spectacular memory that will last forever. Croatia is different though. It’s fast developing into a premium destination. Our guests have given rave reviews to some of the places they’ve dined at and it’s easy to see why. There are lots of Michelin Star restaurants and world-renowned chefs, using local cuisines as a springboard to create amazing experiences. And a lot of the restaurants are in spectacular surroundings, with medieval walls and old archways overlooking the sea, so the views are often as memorable as the food.
In what way is ASTRA particularly suited to an Eastern Med charter? The crew is the really crucial thing. We have a lot of experience in this part of the world. We’ve travelled this area both on other vessels and with ASTRA, so we have a profound understanding of the way things work and we know which bays are suited to certain wind and weather conditions. That definitely gives us a big advantage.
What would you say to someone considering an Eastern Med charter? This is a region that can wow you from so many different angles. The cruising options are virtually unlimited, but wherever you go, people who are familiar with the traditional cruising zones of the western Med ill find that Croatia and Turkey offer something more adventurous, something different, something fresher.
What kinds of on board toy are put to best use here? The very complex coastline of this region, with lots of bays and islands, makes it much easier to find flat water. That certainly lends itself to highspeed toys like jet-skis, but we also have some drone cameras on board, so in the morning when the wind is calm and there’s a mirror-flatness to the water, we can get some really magical shots.

Just between Kefalonia and the mainland lies Ithaca – an unspoiled yachting haven with good hiking, authentic tavernas, a fine beach at Gedaki and plenty of opportunity for diving and sea kayaking. The dramatic caves, limestone cliffs and glorious beaches of the Paxi archipelago make them some of the finest cruising grounds in Greece. Paxos, the main island, offers lots of sheltered inlets so you can explore the rock formations or anchor up for some snorkelling; and Antipaxos, the second largest island, is a hotspot for local wines.
From Myrtos Beach and the steep sea cliffs of the northwest to the Melissani Cave in the east, Kefalonia is radically beautiful. Argostoli, the main port, was rebuilt in the 50s after an earthquake but the island retains plenty of historical sites and the variety and calibre of bays means huge flexibility for the visiting yachtsman.

The modest size and sparse population of Folegandros gives it a remote, natural beauty as yet unaffected by tourism. IY: Martin, tell us about your Norway itinerary. ML: We were in the south of Norway for about a month, using Bergen as a base. We did two principle cruises. The first of them took us north of Bergen, into the Sognefjord, which is the second largest fjord in the world. It’s around 120 miles long and we spent about a week out there. There are lots of different cruising areas we could easily tuck ourselves into, and there are some UNESCO World Heritage areas too, so it’s really quite spectacular. For the second trip, we tracked south from Bergen to Stavanger and that was equally good. Almost all the cruising was in relatively sheltered inland waters. Just once or twice we touched on the North Sea, but only momentary.
What are the best activities on offer? Walking is a huge thing in Norway and the hiking is wonderful. There are glacier hikes available and you can do trips inland for salmon fishing. There’s a lot of North Sea fishing too, plus kayaking and canoeing trips and some excellent diving, particularly in Gulen. Norway is quite a wealthy and advanced country and you can feel it. There’s a lot of high quality dining and it’s culturally quite interesting. It has a very different feel to southern Europe. Everything’s very structured, very orderly and it’s very enjoyable to immerse yourself in it and experience that cultural tone.
What kind of charter does Norway offer? The weather’s fairly predictable and it’s frequently calm, so the cruising is great - very relaxed, very scenic. In the summer, you only get about four hours of semi-darkness each day, so that’s ideal for getting the best out of your trip; and the fact that you can take a yacht as large as LILI and explore some very confined areas, close to huge cliffs and beautiful hills is really quite special. The fjords in particular are a real eye-opener. They’re like nowhere I’ve ever been before. You couldn’t call it a true wilderness, like northern Canada, as you can easily get supplies when you need them - but it’s nothing like the Med, where you can get a specific bottle of wine within an hour of ordering it. There aren’t shops on every fjord corner. It’s more sparse than that. There’s a sizeable population but it’s very spread out. You never feel like you’re truly cut off, but it does give you that feeling of serenity; of something very different.
Is there a private hideaway that sticks in the memory? There was this little place near Eidfjord. We arrived late in the evening and there was still a little bit of light around. We anchored just past there and it was so pristine. I was able to anchor virtually underneath a waterfall. It was so beautiful. There was the roar of the water coming down because we’d had a few days of rain, but while it was obviously quite noisy, the peace was second to none. I’ve never been anywhere like it. It was truly special.
• 061
So what one thing should a Norway charter guest not miss? On one occasion, I arranged for some guests to be picked up from the boat by helicopter. They did a sea tour over the fjords, they went to a private estate where you can fish for salmon and they had a big spit-roast in the wild. That was a superb day and bespoke events like that are always well worth the effort, but if I had to pick one place, the Sognefjord has to be it. The deeper you go, the more impressive it gets. It was the height of summer, we only saw one other boat. You feel more adventurous. You feel like trailblazers on an adventure – and that’s as unique for the crew as it is for the guests.
060
What are the best areas to visit? For me, the southern fjords are by far the stand-out area for a seven or ten-day trip. It’s the most picturesque place and it’s also the easiest to cruise. For the more adventurous, the Lofoten Islands are a couple of days further north, but Lysefjord in the south, near Stavanger, is really beautiful. You can take the boat right up to the cliff face and be literally ten feet away from amazing waterfalls in a 55-metre yacht. It’s quite spectacular. Further north of Bergen, Naeroyfjord near Gudvangen is in a wonderful UNESCO Word Heritage area. Very peaceful. You can tuck yourself into these deep ravines, surrounded by cliffs hundreds of metres high, that’s really memorable.
Where can you find the best food? In Bergen, the fish is incredible. Big crustaceans, crabs, lobsters – you name it, it’s all there. There’s even whale if you’re that way inclined. There are lots of opportunities to eat well in the local markets too – and there are some excellent restaurants dotted around the place. In Bekkjarvik, there’s a really good little place called Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri that’s becoming quite famous for its food. We found a great little fish supplier, who would deliver to us no matter where we were - wonderful eel, herring, crab, all sorts of stuff.

Malé is unlike anywhere else in the Maldives. Inside its mighty ring of seawalls lies a tight-packed high-rise cityscape, cut through with narrow streets and charged with the fractious clatter and bustle of an authentic 24-hour hub. Genteel but informal Kanuhura Island is a place where classical villas perch on stilts above the water’s surface. A thousand miles off the African coast, in the western reaches of the Indian Ocean, the 115 equatorial islands that make up the Seychelles are the epitome of a tropical paradise. The natural arrangement of granite islands, curved coral reefs and sheltered salt-water lagoons makes the Seychelles an ideal venue for water-sports – not least surfing, diving, fishing and kayaking. The chief cruising grounds tend to revolve around the three primary islands of Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, but whichever region you choose, a Seychelles yacht charter encompasses steep, forested mountains, spectacular golden beaches and clear turquoise waters teeming with marine life. As one of the largest private island resorts in the entire archipelago, Fregate’s white sandy beaches are an important wildlife haven for Hawksbill turtles and Aldabra giant tortoises. Aside from the inherent pleasures of isolation, there are also some super-exclusive holiday resorts and villas here – ideal for those intent on serious escape.
Grande Soeur and Petite Soeur sit at the eastern perimeter of the inner isles, near Félicité and Ile Cocos. There are no moorings available but there are good anchorages on the western side of Grande Soeur, offering access to big ocean views, great walks, idyllic picnic opportunities and high-class diving in fish-rich waters.
With its bleached, powdery sands, scatterings of pink boulders and magnificent bays and coves, the Seychelles’ second largest island is a beach lover’s paradise. Diving off the north coast is also a treat and the UNESCO-protected Vallée de Mai primeval palm forest is a place of international importance.

RANGE Approximate nautical miles
La Digue offers a very low-key form of tourism, with a modest peppering of guest-houses and restaurants, plus some water-sports operators, bicycle providers and horse-riding companies. However, it remains at heart a simple Creole island, with ox carts, plantation houses and blissful white beaches – and it’s all the more appealing for that.
Despite the absence of any hotels or restaurants, the protected island of Curieuse remains a key destination for day-trippers from neighbouring Praslin. Its National Marine Park status means you have to pay to enter (and to moor overnight), but its mangrove forests, turtle breeding grounds and glorious dive sites certainly make up for that.

The hundred or so islands in the bay are just as magnetic – exploding almost vertically from the azure waters, with the kind of A-list beauty that has seen them appear in various Hollywood films and achieve worldwide fame as the pinnacle of the Southeast Asian superyacht scene. However, a round trip down the Thai west coast, from Phuket towards Langkawi and Koh Rawi, on the cusp of the Malay border, makes a truly memorable charter – and, arguably, a more diverse and thrilling one even than the fabled waters of Phang Nga Bay. Thailand’s complex 1,800-mile coastline offers great charter flexibility. The Phang Nga islands have starred in various films including James Bond. Phuket, the largest island in Thailand, is a popular stopover for cruise ships. The Similan Islands, northwest of Phuket, are a major Andaman attraction. Patong Beach on Phuket’s western shore is the region’s premier party venue. Nearby Koh Panyee is a famous village built entirely on stilts. The region’s peak charter season runs from November to April.

IY: So Matt, what did your most recent BVI itinerary involve? MB: We were in the BVIs for a week over Christmas last year and that’s the ideal length of time to take in all the most famous highlights. We did Guana Island, then Virgin Gorda, along with one of the anchorages there called North Sound. That’s right next to Necker Island, Richard Branson’s place. And we did another part of Virgin Gorda called the Baths, plus Peter Island, Norman Island and an island called Jost Van Dyke.
So what kinds of activities did you organise? There’s a famous place called Norman Island where, according to legend, pirates buried 30 chests of silver coins. It became the inspiration for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, so we used that local history to create a pirate-themed day. We had a massive treasure hunt on the yacht and we made galleons out of the kayaks, so the kids could paddle into the caves and search for chests of silver coins that we had concealed there the night before. That’s the difference between chartering a regular boat and chartering a unique platform like RoMEA. We have the crew numbers to pull off some quite elaborate events, sometimes with an educational slant for the kids, but with the parents and the grandparents involved too. It’s like a full-on production and those special moments make for far more profound memories than just sitting on a boat, drinking wine and looking at the view.
What kind of experience do the BVIs offer? Right from the first moment, it’s a very distinctive type of charter. Our guests fly into the airport on Beef Island – and that’s fantastic, because you can meet them directly off the plane, before walking them down a little track through the woods to a rickety old wooden dock, where two beautiful superyacht tenders are ready to go. It’s then a ten-minute tender ride to the yacht, which is anchored in White Bay in Guana Island - and the journey itself is really special, because you go past turtles and stingrays and the guests are excited before they even reach the yacht. It’s a unique arrival and it really sets the tone for the rest of the week. So is it quite a rustic and intimate place to cruise? Very much so. It’s nothing like the French Riviera. The airport staff wear Caribbean shirts and are super-friendly and approachable. You’re straight into the heat and the humidity and there might be a shower for five minutes to remind you that you’re in the Caribbean, but that’s actually good fun because everybody gets a bit wet and carries on. For clients who favour that traditional Caribbean family vibe over the razzmatazz shore-based stuff, it’s a wonderful region - but it does mean that a lot of what you do tends to be based on or around the yacht. RoMEA must be the perfect platform for that kind of self-sufficiency. Absolutely. In a place like the BVIs you have to be self-sufficient. We’ve got a gym and a spa on board and we’ve got a huge variety of food available from three different chefs. You also need to be able to mix it up every day to keep things fresh. You have to maximise the local environment - the reefs, the snorkel spots, the unique natural features - and incorporate that into your daily planning. What about your most memorable destinations? Virgin Gorda is great. In the North Sound anchorage, we did a standup paddle-board safari into the mangroves. There’s all sorts of bird-life in there and that’s something the adults really enjoy. We also had a couple of teenagers who we took kite surfing around Necker Island; and in the evening we had a party ashore with a fire pit and a DJ - so it’s a real family-friendly place, where you can hit every age group in one day. It’s very exciting (and really quite rare) to be able to achieve that.
Were there any special moments that linger in the mind? Our Christmas barbecue party on Peter Island was wonderful. We had local fishermen coming up the beach on Christmas morning with loads of fresh lobster that went straight on the barbecue; we had two massive marquees set up and we had the whole beach to ourselves. There wasn’t another boat in sight and you never get that in the south of France unless it’s January, so it had a really exclusive feel. Aside from that, snorkelling with turtles is quite special; and if you have divers on board, diving the wreck of the Rhone, which sank in 1857, is also very cool. Is there anything else a charter guest might want to know? Jost Van Dyke is not to be missed. It can be difficult when the winds get up but the sand is like white powder. It has two headlands and a little bay and it forms a natural Jacuzzi called the Bubble Pool. Cruise Ships go there so it’s not a secret but it is unique. If you can anchor in there, it’s pretty amazing. Going in May, when the wind is at its lightest, is particularly good. Even so, you should pack a raincoat to cope with the odd shower; and you should watch out for the famous rum punch cocktail, known as the ‘Pain Killer’. The Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke is the place to go to sample them – and you have to give them a try. They’re absolutely savage but they’re all part of what makes this place so special.
... THE JOURNEY ITSELF IS REALLY SPECIAL, BECAUSE YOU GO PAST TURTLES & STINGRAYS & THE GUESTS ARE EXCITED BEFORE THEY EVEN REACH THE YACHT

INSIDE STORY C A P TA I N ’ S L O G ... MARTIN LILEY, CAPTAIN OF M/Y LILI, TALKS TO IMPERIAL ABOUT HIS EXPERIENCE OF THIS HIGHLY CUSTOMISED 55m PLATFORM
LILI 55.00 METRES / 6 CABINS
... IY: What led you to your current position as Captain of LILI? I’ve been sailing since I was very young. Growing up, it was the staple of any family holiday, taking our little sailing dinghy around the UK on the car roof. And when I went backpacking in my early 20s, I spent a lot if time in Australia, on the Great Barrier Reef, working as a Dive Master on a vessel there. I really got the bug for working on boats; for being in the marine environment - and when I came back, I relocated to the south of France, walked into a crew agency and started my career as a deckhand. When did you take possession of LILI? This has been my third new build in Holland and I’ve also done one in Italy. We took delivery of LILI in the middle of the 2017 season, so the logistics have presented a challenge, but we’ve managed to pull it together and make it work well. The boat’s been running pretty much non-stop since then and it’s a testament to her that she’s done such a good job. Reliability-wise, I’ve been very impressed. So what’s the story behind the new yacht? She’s one of the Limited Editions Amels 180 and that’s quite a long run of semi-custom platforms. They’re technically very similar - the hull, the engineering - so they’re all very good sea boats. However, they do evolve over time and this is obviously the latest iteration with the latest technology. It’s more reliable; more advanced; and it also has a slightly different layout. We’ve sacrificed our bridge deck lounge to make way for the master cabin, so we have a six-cabin arrangement on board. We also have extended decks, so we’ve got the maximum guest space the shipyard can provide on this platform. How would you characterise her abilities? This is a very robustly built boat with a steel hull and an aluminium superstructure. Everyone I speak to who knows this line of yachts has positive things to say about them and after my experiences in the last couple of months I’d certainly agree with that. She’s very much a blue-water boat, so she’s more than capable of extended cruising. I wouldn’t go as far as to say we would take her to the Antarctic, but I know these boats have operated in the ice of northern Norway, so they are very versatile vessels and that’s really key for this platform. It enables you to enjoy the beaches of the south of France one minute and to get off the beaten track the next. For a limited edition or semi-custom vessel, it puts a lot of horizons within reach. Are there any specific horizons that particularly suit LILI’s talents? Given the enormous sun deck and the variety of exterior lounging areas, she’s most at home in warmer, sunnier environments, where people can use all that outside space. We also have the toys on board to make the most of those regions. We have a dive store and spear fishing equipment plus Sea Bobs and Jet-skis. In the longer term I think the plan will be to push on and explore new areas of the world with this vessel, rather than simply to dwell in the Mediterranean. That’s partly why we’re heading to the Indian Ocean for Winter 2017/2018.
... Does LILI enable you to create flexible plans and itinerary options? Yes, she’s absolutely ideal for that. We’re not one of the super-large boats, where we’re limited by our sheer size. We’re 55 metres long. We can tuck into small anchorages; we can run in relatively inclement weather; and we have a good number of crew. We can travel good distances in comfort and we’ve got a varied collection of toys and tenders on board. That makes us a very versatile boat, able to offer our guests the best of many worlds: stability, comfort, space, even economy. This is a very efficient vessel for cruising; pretty much the complete package for this size of vessel. How would you characterise your crew? We’re quite a young crew. In fact, as the Captain, I’m the oldest at 43 – and that helps make us very personable, fun and dynamic. English is the mother tongue on board but one of our strongest suits is that we’re able to adapt to whatever our guests require. Charterers are so different, so diverse – and we can engage them in any way they like. If they want fancy dress, we can do that. If they want to be left alone we can do that too. Moreover, we’re not heavily departmentalised. We’re very much one team and that’s important. I like to think the guests can feel that. So what for you makes the superyacht charter experience special? What I love about charters is that people are always so enthusiastic; so keen; so willing to have a good holiday. While some owners who use their boats frequently can lose that element of excitement, people always approach the start of a charter with the right frame of mind. A lot of our guests are repeat charterers of course, but even then, they’re always enthusiastic, so if you can take them places and show them things that widen their eyes; if you can see that they’re enjoying themselves, that gives the crew a little bit more energy. We feed off that excitement and it helps make the service we provide even better.
... THIS IS A VERY EFFICIENT VESSEL FOR CRUISING; PRETTY MUCH THE COMPLETE PACKAGE FOR THIS SIZE OF VESSEL

THE PROJECT’S INCEPTION
At the heart of every new build project is a set of key decisions. Does the client intend to cross the Atlantic or island-hop among the tightly packed archipelagos of the Mediterranean? What about the performance, the sleeping capacity and his priorities for the living spaces? Once the client has worked through these central questions, his Imperial broker will select the designer and builder best suited to his needs and assemble a highly experienced team to help manage and complete his dream project.

Imperial protects the future owner’s interests by acting both as the Construction Manager and the Owner’s Representative. Each new project is allocated a set of designated professionals: a Project Manager, based at the chosen yard, to supervise construction on a day-to-day basis and to keep the build on schedule; a Build Engineer, Electrical & Electronics Engineer and Interior Quality Manager to implement internal design and take charge of each detail of the fit-out; a Financial Manager to keep control of finances and to compile regular budget reports for the client; and a Build Captain and Build Engineer to oversee the final stages of construction and to bring the yacht into operation. Throughout the entire process, Imperial’s teams keep a tight grip on the quality, the timeline and the expenses to ensure that all elements of the build surpass the client’s expectations.

In addition to appointing only the most experienced Captains and crew, Imperial conducts year-round training programmes to keep all personnel at prime capability. Contracts and confidentiality agreements are drawn up and a dynamic ‘Crew Management Service’ encompassing a network of proven candidates ensures that Imperial can act with immediate effect to any urgent demands. With a 98% satisfaction rate for all crew placed on board yachts under our management, it is one of the industry’s most effective systems. D AY- T O - D AY O P E R AT I O N S
Whether for charter, for sale or for a fastidious owner who needs to know that his yacht is in a full state of readiness, Imperial’s operational management expertise is a vital asset. The Technical Manager provides support and assistance to the engineers, Captains and deck crew in order to coordinate and supervise maintenance, as well as undertake refit work and class and flag surveys; the Interior Manager helps keep housekeeping, crew training, safety drills and service standards up to scratch; and the Operational Manager takes charge of all maintenance schedules and technical tasks, as well as provisioning, berthing, fuelling and passage-making. With responsibility for the yacht’s daily operations, including quality control, shore-side support and all logistical considerations, this seasoned marine professional can resolve any yacht-related issue, at any time of year and in any part of the world. INTERNAL TRAINING
All Imperial crew is trained to meet the company’s stringent internal standards. Rigorous safety procedures lie at the very heart of that – and as well as extensive instruction on the proper use of all marine and water-sports equipment, training programs include regular drills for practical safety, emergency response and first-aid.
Maritime regulations vary throughout the world, according to yacht size, home-port, ownership and registration, so compliance requires expert knowledge. Imperial is meticulous in ensuring that yachts under its care are properly registered, with appropriate VAT status and the correct documents, so you will always pass customs inspections, whatever the jurisdiction. Imperial also enjoys established relationships with companies and brokers who specialise in superyacht insurance, so it is well placed to source the best provider, negotiate the right rate and ensure that, in the event of damage or loss, all elements of your contract are properly observed. FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
While some owners are keen to generate charter income from their yachts, others prefer to reserve them for private entertainment. Either way, Imperial puts precise protocols in place to govern how your vessel operates on a day-to-day basis and a designated Financial Manager is a key part of that. In addition to organising budgets and accounts, checking component orders and paying invoices, the Financial Manager prepares regular financial reports for the owner, providing a clear picture of a yacht’s running costs and avoiding any unnecessary expenses. Payroll, compliance and safety issues are taken care of and Imperial can also organise export finance and yacht leasing in association with leading financial institutions like BNP Paribas, ING and UBS. THE IMPERIAL DIFFERENCE •
Imperial’s in-house ‘Operational Manual’ puts stringent safety standards at the very heart of the superyacht experience. • The online administration programme keeps the superyacht owner firmly in control. • All yacht-related expenses are carefully coordinated and controlled by a dedicated Financial Manager. • All technical and practical issues are addressed directly by the yacht’s Operational Manager. • Imperial’s crew are highly experienced professionals, primed with year-round internal training programmes. • All yachts are rigorously maintained and kept in a state of perpetual readiness. • Imperial backup is on hand 24 hours a day, every day, all year round and in all parts of the world.
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Imperial is able to provide support and assistance at every step of a project, from global management to complete vessel refit. Whether a yacht was built under Imperial supervision or not, the company’s extensive construction portfolio, allied to its specialist shipyard-based teams, ensures a bespoke service, rigorously in line with briefs, schedules and budgets.

Selling your yacht and offering it for charter require two very different skill sets – but whichever you have in mind, Imperial has the experience, the contacts, the personnel and the approach to present it in the best way to the best audience.
What makes Imperials marketing team so effective? • A powerful presence at international boat shows, including Monaco, Cannes, Barcelona, Dubai, Singapore, Fort Lauderdale and Antigua. • Ads and editorial in prestigious yachting magazines, including Boat International, Yachts International, The Superyacht Report, Superyacht Times, Superyacht World, Centurion Magazine, Departures; and in Russian publications such as Motor Boat and Yachting Russia, Yachting Russia, Sea Trial, Forbes Russia and Aeroflot Premium. • Exposure through high-end online platforms, including Superyachts.com, Boatinternational.com, Superyachtnews.com, Superyachttimes.com, Superyachtworld.com, Yachtharbour.com, the Robb Report, Forbes.ru, RBC.ru and social media promotions, as well as through Imperials own purpose-built website. • Imperials Charter Directory, delivered to a targeted readership, either directly on board a client’s vessel or via select, high-end outlets in Russia, London, Switzerland, Sardinia and the French Riviera. • A flexible approach, offering everything from full-scale, multi-platform exposure to discrete one-to-one negotiations. • Experienced charter and sales brokers, who can formulate bespoke campaigns, answer questions and conduct tours on your behalf. • Imperials cutting-edge website: not an inflexible template but a bespoke marketing solution with customisable research tools and high-value, vessel-specific content. • An upgraded headquarters in the heart of Monaco, which ably reflects the calibre of Imperials work and its impeccable industry stature.
SALES MARKETING
Imperials ingrained flexibility ensures that each client and each vessel is treated to a carefully tailored marketing campaign. For instance, if a yacht sale requires blanket discretion, publicity can be entirely avoided, with all marketing activities conducted on a private, one-to-one basis. But with its multi-platform resources, Imperial is also able to call upon an enviable range of high-profile assets – from a presence at the key international yacht shows to advertising and press articles in targeted magazines and direct communications via a global network of industry contacts and international clients. CHARTER MARKETING
Imperials Charter Marketing Service is designed to achieve maximum charter income for yacht owners. In addition to extensive coverage in relevant print and online platforms, including Imperials own interactive website, the company’s Charter Directory is also distributed through some very powerful, high-yield channels. Again, however, Imperials approach remains flexible. If a client wants to pursue end-to-end bookings throughout the year, that can be done, but if he prefers to set aside specific periods for personal use, the charter schedule can be arranged to encompass his preferences. Y O U R YA C H T : O U R P R I O R I T Y
As true experts of the superyacht industry with an extensive sales portfolio, numerous award-winning vessels and a varied global charter fleet, Imperial follows precise protocols to maximise visibility of your vessel and obtain the most productive leads possible. Whatever kind of approach your yacht demands, the modus operandi of Imperials marketing department is not the brushstroke guesswork of a bulk operator. It is the targeted, vessel-specific strategy of a team well versed in the nuances of the international superyacht market.
