Christie McHughes, DVM, embodies a lifelong dedication to animal care, stemming from her upbringing on a diverse farm. Raised among draft horses, mules, Texas longhorn cattle, and even bison, her childhood was a hands-on lesson in animal husbandry. “Caring for animals wasn’t just a chore; it was a way of life,” she reflects warmly.
HOW DID THE PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY BEGIN?
After earning her doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from LSU in 2004, my journey led me to various leadership roles within organized medicine, including presidencies of the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association and the Florida Parishes Veterinary Association. I currently serve as a Vice President for the Southwest Veterinary Symposium, and I am is deeply committed to advancing the veterinary profession.
WHAT DROVE THE ESTABLISHMENT OF CROSSPOINT VETERINARY HOSPITAL?
Establishing Crosspoint Veterinary Hospital in 2015 from the ground up, we embarked on a journey to deliver exceptional care despite starting with no clientele. Since then, the practice has prioritized progressive treatments, earning AAHA accreditation in 2017 to demonstrate its commitment to high standards in veterinary medicine. The team includes fear-free certified professionals, ensuring a stress-free experience for both pets and owners. Fear Free’s initiatives focus on enhancing emotional wellbeing and stress reduction in pets, enriching the experience for every family member.
