EASA TUTORS’ GUI DE Introduction

Process of selection

EASA is a practical network for communication, meeting and exchange; architecture students can discuss their ideas, work together and exchange their experiences concerning architecture, education or life in general. The official language of the assembly is English, and mem¬bers live and work on-site for two weeks.

Once all the workshops have been evaluated, the organizers publish a list with all the selected tutors for the assembly.

EASA is an assembly of students of architecture that organizes every year a summer assembly (EASA) gathering 400 students from all around Europe and a spring assembly (SESAM) that gather a smaller group of students.

Theme

Each year’s EASA is generated by a theme that sets the inspiration for the different workshops and is the conducting thread for lectures and the rest of events. The theme is selected by the organizers and is different every year.

Why being a tutor?

EASA constitutes a good opportunity for students of architecture to develop a certain workshop connected with the theme. Their typology can range from theoretical to constructive and can involve a different amount of international students depending on requirements.

EASA TUTORS’ GUI DE

The EASA organizers of each year prepare a tutor pack some months before the assembly starts with all the relevant information to explain the site, the theme and other relevant topics. After that, prospective tutors can submit their workshop proposals to the organizers within the established deadlines and they are evaluated taking in to consideration relation to the theme, feasibility, relation to the site, etc.

Tasks

Being a tutor requires some work during the assembly and before it. The tutors should prepare an estimated budget before the workshops start so that organizers can provide them with all the necessary material. After the start of the assembly the tutors are in charge of carrying out their workshops and prepare a final exhibition that will show to the rest of the assembly the outcomes of the workshop.

Sponsorship

Although sponsorship is not a requirement to become a tutor, tutors are highly encouraged to find economic and/or material help.
