Editor’s note AFTER what feels like an endless summer, winter is slowly starting creeping up on us. While the dark icy mornings and long nights might not be everyone’s cup of hot chocolate, it does make for fab fashion moments. Oh to cover up in layers of comfy knits and over-size coats. To wrap up and cover up with long wool scarves and fluffy beanies. What’s not love? Last winter the pandemic kept us indoors and far away from all the elements. Untouched by the icy winds and heavy rain, we were careful not to leave ourselves vulnerable to the virus. Even though COVID-19 continues to be a real part of our lives, we are leaving our homes more but taking the utmost caution while doing so. Returning to work, attending social gatherings and basically just trying get back to “normality” while masked up and sanitized. Last year’s winter wardrobe, which basically consisted of PJs, gowns, slippers and tracksuits, will have to remain strictly indoors where is belongs. However, it did have one benefit - comfort.. Women wanted to go from the warmth of their homes to a quick shopping trip in style without sacrificing comfort. Hence the rapid growth in trendy loungewear. We saw the trend move into summer and it remains a key wardrobe element this winter. Matching (co-ord) sets are wardrobe essentials this season. Worn with chunky boots or sexy heels, the basic loungewear set can go from trendy casual during the day to an edgy look for a night with the girls. The over-sized teddy coat and shacket jacket are the hottest trend in cover ups. Grab one of these, slip it over your matching sets and you’re good to go! As we step out this winter, lets continue to do so safely. Keep all the sanitizing essentials in the latest must-have carry-all bag and learn to embrace the face mask. It still remains to be the most essential accessory. Keep warm and stay safe.
