EXPLORE THE Y WHY THE Y The Y is an association of people who have committed to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide programs and services to youth, adults and families in order to strengthen the community. The YMCA is funded locally. Funds raised through contributions, endowments and membership fees are used to provide services in Will, Grundy and part of Kendall Counties. Updating Your Contact Information We ask our members to notify us of any changes in their contact Information, including email, phone or residential address. To update your contact information, please call (815) SAY-YMCA, use the “contact us” link on our website or stop by the Membership Desk during your next visit. Credits and Refunds Program fees are not refundable. Classes missed due to weather, holidays, illness, acts of God, or choice of participant cannot be made up, credited or refunded. If the YMCA cancels a class due to low enrollment, participants will be issued a credit for a future program. Members who withdraw from a program for medical reasons and present a physician’s order will receive a credit for the remaining classes. When a class needs to be cancelled by the Y, the class will be rescheduled. All credits are good for one year from the date issued. Members who withdraw from a class for non-medical reasons may be subject to a processing fee. Insurance The YMCA assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss/damage of personal property while individuals are using YMCA facilities. It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide this coverage through their family insurance program. Anyone engaging in new physical activity or who may have health-related issues should consult a physician prior to starting fitness routines. Child Supervision Children under the age of ten must be supervised by an adult at all times when using YMCA facilities. The Kids Corner Supervised Playroom is available during designated hours for Facility Members, ages six months to ten years old. JOLIET Y JETS

SWIM TEAM SWIM CLINICS

The JETS swim clinics are the best opportunity to try the swim team. Swimmers spend time with the JETS coaches learning new drills and skills and getting an idea of what the team is like. Throughout the clinic, the coaches evaluate the swimmers to determine their best placement on the team, if they are ready for it and decide to join. Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards (one length of the pool) comfortably and confidently without a flotation device. A YMCA membership is not required to participate in the JETS swim clinics. If you are unable to make the clinic, an evaluation can be scheduled at any point of the year. Mid-season registration is available with the head coach’s approval.

IGNITE YOUR PASSION Volunteer Opportunities at the YMCA

The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to give back to the communities we serve. Volunteers at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA: • Lead our Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Committees and Branch Advisory Councils • Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of our community • Coach our youth sports teams • Motivate and support youths in our programs to help them build the character strengths, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices, and the pursuit of higher education and goals • Participate in opportunities to give back and support our neighbors through community service projects and events • Help facilitate our various YMCA special events. Our volunteers also play an important role in the success, quality and quantity of the programs we offer. We welcome and appreciate youth in grades 9-12 and adults 18 years or older who volunteer their time and expertise. A background check and two online safety training courses must be completed before volunteers are allowed to participate in any Y program or activity. LEARN, GROW, THRIVE EXPLORE THE Y

Through our four YMCA branches and our Central City “Y without Walls,” we are serving thousands of residents each and every day. The Y brings families closer together, encourages good health, and fosters connections through fitness, sports, fun and shared interests. But, most importantly, our doors are open to everyone, regardless of age, income or background. At the Y, no one is ever turned away due to the inability to pay.
