WHY THE Y The Y is an association of people who have committed to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide programs and services to youth, adults and families in order to strengthen the community. The YMCA is funded locally. Funds raised through contributions, endowments and membership fees are used to provide services in Will, Grundy and part of Kendall Counties.

HOW TO REGISTER FOR PROGRAMS • Online by visiting www.jolietymca.org • In person by visiting your local branch • By phone by calling (815) SAY-YMCA (current members) The Greater Joliet Area YMCA accepts cash, check, MasterCard, Visa or Discover. In most cases, phone registration is accepted for current members when paying by a credit card or electronic funds transfer (EFT). Outstanding balances must be paid before a member will be allowed to register for future programs. Facility Members must maintain their memberships throughout the duration of a program in order to pay Facility Member pricing. System credits and promotional codes may be used online. All classes have a maximum and minimum number of participants. When possible, classes will be added to accommodate wait lists and to expand those offerings that are in high demand. Classes below the minimum will be combined when possible, and as a last alternative, will be cancelled.

Now that we have moved into Phase 5 of the state’s reopening plan, we have returned to full capacity in our facilities, programs, and classes. Because the safety of our YMCA community is our number one priority, we will continue to follow guidance from local, state, and federal health officials to best protect everyone who enters our doors.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT
To maintain a healthy environment, all members and staff will be required to adhere to the following health and safety guidelines when visiting our YMCA facilities. If you have any concerns or questions during your visit, please speak to a member of our staff team.
MASKS AND FACE COVERINGS In line with guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and local, state, and federal health officials, Y members who are not fully vaccinated should wear masks or face coverings when visiting YMCA facilities. Fully vaccinated individuals who prefer to wear masks when visiting the Y are welcome and encouraged to do so.

This new interactive tool is loaded with free workouts, on-demand videos, and nutrition tips. With just the click of a button, App users can also:
YMCA members are no longer required to answer health screening questions upon entering YMCA facilities. We encourage members to refrain from visiting the YMCA if they are feeling unwell.
RESERVATIONS Members are no longer required to make reservations to use the wellness centers, gymnasiums, or pools. Reservations are still required for group exercise and water fitness classes. Reservations can be made up to 24 hours in advance through the YMCA On the Go App, by calling the Y, or by visiting the Membership Desk. HEALTH AND SAFETY GUIDELINES Because the safety of our community remains our top priority, we have made modifications to our policies and programs to facilitate new safety and social distancing guidelines. At the Y, no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. DHS funds are accepted. Financial assistance may also be available for those who do not qualify for DHS funds. Programming runs Monday through Friday on school days and coordinates with each school district’s calendar. A $45 non-refundable registration fee per family and YMCA membership fee (if applicable) are due upon registering. Ten installment payments will be paid monthly beginning in August via automatic withdrawal from a checking account or debit/credit card. If families register after the start of the school year, the first monthly installment will be collected at the time of registration. Participants may start attending Kid Zone four business days after the day registration is completed.

On select days out of school, children in grades K-8 are invited to spend the day with friends and Kid Zone staff at the Galowich Family YMCA. All participants should dress for the weather, bring a sack lunch, a drink, snacks, a swimsuit and a towel. Please note: Refunds will not be given to those who are unable to attend. Beginning this fall, the Greater Joliet Area YMCA will be teaming up with Joliet Public Schools District 86 to offer a free after school program for students at the district’s four junior high schools. Daily programming will incorporate the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and include a resource-rich curriculum that provides students with academic support, life skills education, recreational opportunities, mentorship, and STEM and service learning activities. TOGETHER AS A TEAM The Y Youth Sports program maximizes the positive effects of playing sports by emphasizing healthy competition and promoting teamwork. The Y focuses on the life lessons that can be learned from sports, and coaches strive to instill a positive self-image in each player. Most importantly, in the YMCA league, everyone plays and everyone wins!

EDUCATION AND LEADERSHIP AMERICAN RED CROSS PROGRAMS LIFEGUARDING COURSE
with Water Park Option Ages 15 and Up Students will learn professional responsibilities, First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED and Lifeguarding. NEW THIS YEAR: Lifeguarding will be taught as a blended learning course. The first two class sessions will be held virtually. Participants will attend two, 2-hour Zoom trainings with the instructor, as well as complete 7.5 hours of online course work at their own pace. The final three class sessions will be held in-person, and will start with the swim test. Participants who fail to complete the swim test will be refunded for the remaining in-person class dates. No refunds will be given to participants who miss classes, or who are unable to successfully meet testing requirements at the end of the class. Pre-requisites: • Must be able to complete a continuous 300yard swim • Must be able to tread water for two minutes without hands • Must complete a timed swim to retrieve a tenpound object from under ten feet of water Participants may attempt the swim test for free prior to registering for the class. To schedule a swim test with the Aquatics Director, please call your local branch. Valid email is required to participate. Zoom classroom links will be emailed out 24 hours prior to the first day of class. Attendance at every class is mandatory.

SWIMMING FURTHER FASTER JETS FALL SWIM CLINIC This is great opportunity to learn more about the JETS and to meet our team and coaching staff. Throughout the week, coaches will be evaluating swimmers for team placement. A YMCA membership is not required to participate in the clinic.

Swimming is not only life skill that everyone should learn, but it’s a great way to exercise and improve your health. This basic swim course will help new swimmers feel comfortable in and moving through the water, with a focus on water safety.

Fall back into fitness with Wellness Wednesdays! During the month of September, we will feature a different fitness challenge for members to complete. Each time you complete a challenge, you will be entered for a chance to win Y Swag and six months of PRO access to the YMCA on the Go App. Participants who check in for all five Wednesdays will be entered for a chance to win a $100 credit to use towards personal training, membership or any other Y program. Challenges will be posted outside of the fitness center.

Required for teens (ages 13-15) who wish to have access to the Wellness Center, this class provides a comprehensive and informative training on how to properly utilize strength and cardio equipment.
