EXPLORE THE Y WHY THE Y The Y is an association of people who have committed to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all people, regardless of their ability to pay. We are a non-profit, charitable organization established to provide programs and services to youth, adults and families in order to strengthen the community. The YMCA is funded locally. Funds raised through contributions, endowments and membership fees are used to provide services in Will, Grundy and part of Kendall Counties. Updating Your Contact Information We ask our members to notify us of any changes in their contact Information, including email, phone or residential address. To update your contact information, please call (815) SAY-YMCA, use the “contact us” link on our website or stop by the Membership Desk during your next visit. Credits and Refunds Program fees are not refundable. Classes missed due to weather, holidays, illness, acts of God, or choice of participant cannot be made up, credited or refunded. If the YMCA cancels a class due to low enrollment, participants will be issued a credit for a future program. Members who withdraw from a program for medical reasons and present a physician’s order will receive a credit for the remaining classes. When a class needs to be cancelled by the Y, the class will be rescheduled. All credits are good for one year from the date issued. Members who withdraw from a class for non-medical reasons may be subject to a processing fee. Insurance The YMCA assumes no responsibility for personal injuries or loss/damage of personal property while individuals are using YMCA facilities. It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide this coverage through their family insurance program. YMCA Swim Lesson Policies and Procedures 1. The first day of each session is reserved for swim testing and evaluations. All appropriate changes will be made to ensure quality instruction for your child. If you have a question about your child’s swim stage after the first day of class, please speak to your child’s instructor. 2. Children will be moved up to the next stage once all of the skills in the previous level have been mastered. Many skills in certain levels are dependent on physical development, strength and coordination. Please remember that each child is unique and develops at his or her own rate, and that progression through these stages varies greatly. 3. The Aquatics Department reserves the right to cancel and/or combine classes due to low enrollment.

Make-up Lessons and Swim Credit 1. One make up class may be accommodated per session if schedules allow. Either 24 hours notice, or a doctor’s note, must be provided in order to schedule a make up. Participants that withdraw from a swim class for medical reasons will receive a YMCA credit for the remaining classes if the request is accompanied by a doctor’s note. All credits are valid for one year. 4. All program fees are non-refundable.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

Giving back and providing support to our neighbors.

IGNITE YOUR PASSION Volunteer Opportunities at the YMCA The generosity of others is at the core of the Y’s existence. It is only through the support of our hundreds of thousands of volunteers and public and private donors that we are able to give back to the communities we serve.

Volunteers at the Greater Joliet Area YMCA:

• Lead our Board of Directors, Board of Trustees, Committees and Branch Advisory Councils • Raise funds to ensure the Y is accessible to all members of our community • Coach our youth sports teams • Motivate and support youths in our programs to help them build the character strengths, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health, smart life choices, and the pursuit of higher education and goals • Participate in opportunities to give back and support our neighbors through community service projects and events • Help facilitate our various YMCA special events.

To begin volunteering at the Y, please contact: Dori Fugate Volunteer and Development Operations Manager dfugate@jolietymca.org (815) 267-8600, ext. 210

Our volunteers play an important role in the success, quality and quantity of the programs we offer. We welcome and appreciate youth in grades 9-12 and adults 18 years or older who would like to volunteer their time and expertise. A background check must be completed before volunteers are allowed to participate in any Y program or activity.

In a world in need of more hope, more community and more support, the YMCA offers places and programs where people from all walks of life can connect. Inside our branches, at off-site before and after school programs and in our community-based offerings, staff and volunteers are helping kids, families and seniors nurture their body, mind and spirit. We believe that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, should have the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive at the YMCA. To make good on that promise, the YMCA invested more than $1.3 million in financial assistance in the last year to provide hope and support to our friends and neighbors in need. This investment touched more than 8,100 lives in our communities.

CHAIRMAN’S ROUNDTABLE BANNER DONORS Supporting the YMCA Annual Campaign The Chairman’s Roundtable (CRT) recognizes major donors to the Greater Joliet Area YMCA who have made a direct investment in the mission with a gift of $1,000 or more. These supporters help to uphold the Y promise of providing programming and membership to all. We are pleased to introduce two membership tiers for the CRT: Gold and Silver Level Banners. CRT gifts are celebrated with banners of two sizes at the branch of the donor’s choosing. These are customized with a company logo, family picture or a YMCA program photo. For more information on CRT membership, contact Brittney Halliday at (815) 782-0809 or bhalliday@jolietymca.org.
