The YMCA’s Kid Zone program is designed to meet the needs of local families. When enrolling in the Y’s before and after school program, families can choose from the following enrollment plans.

The Y is committed to providing affordable and safe child care for families living in Will and Grundy Counties through its summer day camp and Kid Zone programs. We remain dedicated to working with our partner school districts to provide much-needed child care for families like yours.
At the Y, we believe that no one should be denied access to YMCA child care programs based on their inability to pay. Ensuring access for all, Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) funds are accepted and financial assistance is also available.

Teen REACH Camp
This summer, the Y will be offering a FREE summer day camp program for grades 6-8 in Joliet and the surrounding communities. At Teen REACH Camp, students will learn to respect themselves and others, work out their differences, and discover the value of true friendship. Campers will also enjoy up to 10 weeks of summer fun full of swimming, sports, outdoor exploration, field trips, and more.

The Y wants to help you stay committed to a healthy lifestyle this summer, and as anticipation grows for the 2024 Summer Olympics, we are excited to launch our “I Swam the Rings” Aquatics Challenge. A progress board will be located on the pool deck as an optional way to track your miles. Once you’ve logged 40 miles in the water, you’ll have completed the rings and earned your shirt to wear with pride!
ADAPTIVE SWIM LESSONS
Our adaptive swim lesson program is designed for children with special needs. The goal of this program is to provide basic water instruction and water safety skills in a therapeutic manner with the needs of each individual participant in mind.

FITSTART
Available to first time personal training clients only.
If you are looking to start a new fitness routine and don’t know where to start, or if you have taken a break from exercise and want to get back on track, this program is for you! The Y’s FitStart program offers guidance, knowledge, and motivation to help you lead a healthier lifestyle and become more physically active. Throughout this program, which runs 8 to 12 weeks, you’ll meet with a Fit Coach up to four times, develop a fitness plan, and set goals to help you reach your health and wellness goals. Get started today!
PART 1: GETTING STARTED AND BASELINE TESTS
During this opening session we will assess your current fitness level, set goals, get body composition (if requested), and complete our Fit Start questionnaire. You will have the opportunity to get set up on the Y on the Go app and begin orientation on any cardiovascular equipment that interests you.
PART 2: GETTING YOUR HEART PUMPING
This 20 minute session will further introduce the cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals and bikes, and add more pieces of equipment based on your fitness goals.
PART 3: GETTING STRONGER
The third session will introduce the strength equipment for a basic circuit workout and add more pieces of equipment based on your fitness goals.
PART 4: TAKING THE NEXT STEPS
In this closing session, we will review and answer any additional questions on the cardio or strength equipment, Group Fitness and Personal Training options.
