In the YMCA’s Before and After School program, kids participate in physical, learning, and imaginative activities that encourage them to explore who they are and what they can achieve. Kids have fun, make new friends, and create memories that last a lifetime.

Plus a one-time annual $45 non-refundable registration fee per family. Kid Zone monthly installment payments will be paid via automatic withdrawal from a checking account or debit/credit card. Participants may start attending Kid Zone four business days after the day registration is completed. There must be 10 registered students to run the program on-site at the elementary schools. After August 4, sites will be confirmed and families notified.

AMAZING LEARNING EXPERIENCES DAYS OUT OF SCHOOL - 2023-2024 SCHOOL YEAR Joliet/Minooka/Rockdale/Troy School Districts The Galowich Family YMCA offers programs for children when school is not in session. Whether it’s an Institute Day or Holiday Break, your child is invited to join the Y and kids from all of our Kid Zone and Teen REACH sites for days full of fun and adventure. Children, in grades K-8, may be dropped off at the Galowich Family Y as early as 7 a.m. and picked up as late as 6 p.m. All participants should dress for the weather, bring a sack lunch, a drink, snacks, swimsuit and a towel. Advanced registration is required and space is limited. Fees are non-refundable. Registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the day off school. At the Y, no one is turned away due to the inability to pay. DHS Funds are accepted. Financial assistance may also be available for those who do not qualify for DHS funds. Registration is now underway for October 2023 through January 2024. AMERICAN RED CROSS BABYSITTER’S TRAINING Ages 11-15 1/15, 2/19 $80/$160 Mon. 10 a.m-2 p.m. Participants in this class will learn the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care to infant and school age children in the absence of parents. Emphasis will be placed on safety and safe play, first aid and developing skills in leadership and professionalism. Each participant will take home their own training manual and materials. Participants should bring a lunch.

Teen REACH (Responsibility, Education, Achievement, Caring, and Hope) is a FREE after school program offered in partnership with Joliet Public School District 86. Hosted at the district’s four junior high schools, Teen REACH programming incorporates the YMCA’s core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility, and includes a resource-rich curriculum that provides students with academic support, life skills education, recreational opportunities, mentorship, STEM, and service learning activities. Program Hours Monday through Friday, on school days, from dismissal until 6 p.m. Program will not run on early dismissal days. See Days Out Of School page for more information

Campers will enjoy a summer full of water fun, weekly field trips, sports, outdoor exploration, arts and crafts and more.

INSPIRING GENEROSITY FITSTART If you are looking to start a new fitness routine and don’t know where to start, or if you have taken a break from exercise and want to get back on track, this program is for you! The Y’s FitStart program offers guidance, knowledge, and motivation to help you lead a healthier lifestyle and become more physically active. Throughout this program, which runs 8 to 12 weeks, you’ll meet with a Fit Coach up to four times, develop a fitness plan, and set goals to help you reach your health and wellness goals. Get started today! PART 1: GETTING STARTED AND BASELINE TESTS During this opening session we will assess your current fitness level, set goals, get body composition (if requested), and complete our Fit Start questionnaire. You will have the opportunity to get set up on the Y on the Go app and begin orientation on any cardiovascular equipment that interests you. PART 2: GETTING YOUR HEART PUMPING This 20 minute session will further introduce the cardio equipment including treadmills, ellipticals and bikes, and add more pieces of equipment based on your fitness goals.

Stop by the Membership Desk and pick up a 2024 Mission Strong t-shirt by making a donation of $25 or more to the YMCA Mission Strong Fund. Your donation will help to ensure that no one is turned away from the Y due to the inability to pay.

PART 3: GETTING STRONGER The third session will introduce the strength equipment for a basic circuit workout and add more pieces of equipment based on your fitness goals. PART 4: TAKING THE NEXT STEPS In this closing session, we will review and answer any additional questions on the cardio or strength equipment, Group Fitness and Personal Training options.
