Transfer Central The basics When you’re ready to get the ball rolling, check out Indiana State’s Transfer Central website. It leads you step-by-step through the transfer process, including: • Use the course-by-course evaluation tool to see which credits will transfer.   • Find the bachelor’s degree program of your dreams.   • See class options—both on-campus and online.   • Learn how to apply for financial aid and scholarships.

What you’ll need to become a Sycamore: • Be in good standing at your last accredited institution. • If you have earned fewer than 24 credit hours at previous institutions, your high school transcript must meet the requirements for freshmen admitted to Indiana State.

State’s General Transfer Credit Guidelines Credit earned from regionally accredited colleges and universities is transferable. Credit earned from nationally accredited colleges and universities is not transferable. Transfer credit is assigned only for courses at the 100 level (or above) in which you have earned a grade of “C” or higher. Generally, an equivalent number of credit hours are given. Remedial, audited, or non-credit courses do not transfer. College living, orientation, and study skills classes do not transfer. In some cases, credit may be transferable to the University and count toward graduation, but may not be applied toward completion of your intended major.

• Earn at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA in your previous college studies. (Some programs, such as education and nursing, have additional or separate requirements.)

As much as 90 credit hours of total transfer credit will be accepted for transfer into a bachelor degree program; at least 30 credit hours must be completed through Indiana State to earn the bachelor degree.

Your grades (GPA) do not transfer except for the purpose of graduation honors.

Transferring to a new university can be an overwhelming process. Help is just a click away—the online Transfer Planning Tool analyzes where you’ve been and helps plan your path ahead.

If you transfer a bachelor degree from a regionally accredited U.S. institution, all of the University’s Foundational Studies/General Education requirements will be waived.

Partner institutions can mean maximum credit transfer! Indiana State is partnered with Ivy Tech Community College, Vincennes University, and many two-year colleges to help you get the most bang for your buck. These transfer plans allow you to start off earning your associate’s degree from a partnered institution, then switch over to finish up at State. indstate.edu/transfer

Top 5 ways to ensure a

smooth transfer If you’re transferring to State here are five tips to keep you on track.

1. Think ahead Make sure what you’re doing now will apply toward what you want to do later. While State accepts most credits, planning ahead will help make sure you don’t take classes that won’t count toward your Indiana State degree plan. More of your credits will likely transfer if you earn an associate of science or an associate of arts degree. If you’re unsure, review the requirements for the program you want to join at indstate.edu/ academics/majors

2. What do you want to do with your college degree? Of course, that can be a hard question to answer right this minute. At State, you’ll have guidance from advisors who will help you find more than a job you like, you’ll discover a career you love.

3. Explore your options Communicate your plans with your advisor at your current school. Choose electives and courses that you know will be accepted once you become a Sycamore. Use the Transfer Planning Tool to help you track your progress and make sure the courses you select now will be counted when you make your switch to State. indstate.edu/transfer

Don’t be late— time is money Blue is for an affordable higher education. And we’re for empowering you to find all the help you can get to pay for that education. It starts with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). File your FAFSA as soon as October 1, 2017 so we can process your award early. When aid is granted, the funds are typically applied to your student account about ten days before the start of the term. If you file late or forget to file, it can mean delays in processing. Indiana residents must meet the state deadline of April 15, 2018 to be considered for state aid. When filing, enter Indiana State’s federal school code 001807. For a preliminary estimate of cost and eligibility, we encourage you to use our Net Price Calculator.
