At Indiana State, you can choose from housing options that put you close to students who share your interests. For instance, you could live on an academic-themed housing floor where students are clustered by academic major, making it easy to form study groups and make friends. Sorority housing is available on campus. You can also apply to be part of a residential special interest group, such as the Leadership Learning Community (LLC).

so maybe you’re wondering about… Roommates. You can request a certain roommate when you apply to live at Indiana State. On average, we’re able to fulfill the majority of roommate requests. Or you can ask ResLife to assign your roommate or suitemates, based on preferences and common interests. Dining options. All around campus and right next to your Res Hall. Your student I.D. gets you into a lively food court or traditional college dining hall for all three – or is that six? – daily meals. Around campus, we have coffee shops, juice bars, cafes and carryout – even a fancy restaurant for special occasions. Safety and security. Keys or electronic codes restrict access to residence hall floors, elevators, stairwells and rooms. Security desks are staffed day and night. Lobbies and entrances are equipped with security cameras. Bike patrols, Community Service Officers and emergency “blue phones” supplement a 25-person, 24-hour campus police force to keep our campus safe, secure and friendly to all. Personalize your place. You’re on your way to big things, your living environment should reflect that. So make your college home all about you. Cover the walls with crazy photos. Choose a learning community. It’s good for your GPA–and social life.

E

DUCATION doesn’t stop when

you leave class – in fact, the best learning experiences take place during casual moments with your classmates and teachers. That’s how residential learning communities started at Indiana State, and why you just might love being part of one. Our Academic Clustered Communities are themed housing wings or floors for students who share a major, or common interests like community service. State offers clustered communities for these majors: Technology, Criminology/Criminal Justice, Business, Fine Arts, Psychology, Nursing, Athletic Training, and other College of Nursing, Health and Human Services majors. Clustered communities spend quality time outside of class with their instructors, advisors and each other. They study together, meet up to discuss a book, hear a celebrity speaker or tackle hot topics in their field. Professors tend to drop in for dinner, and just hang out so you can really get to know them.

In our Academic Learning Communities, students take at least one academic course together in addition to living together, and doing all the things clustered communities do. Many of our academic communities begin with a retreat or pre-fall program before classes start in August. If you want to build strong connections with fellow students and supportive teachers, learn more about our residential learning programs. Here are some others to check out online: • Honors Residential Program • Leadership Learning Community (LLC) • Multicultural Women Achieving Scholarship • Multicultural Men Achieving Scholarship • LEAP Community • Political Science and Legal Studies Community • Project Success First Generation Students • Project Success Ethics • Leadership and Democracy Community • Project Success iSucceed Community
