Indian High Commissioner meets MPs in Perth, discusses boosting bilateral ties

India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Gopal Baglay, recently held discussions with MPs Josh Wilson and Sam Lim at Perth Airport. They exchanged insights on the flourishing Australia-India relations and the significant contribution of the Indian diaspora to these ties and the Australian society.

Australia and India enjoy robust bilateral relations, marked by strong trade relations supported by the Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement. Additionally, both nations share deep defence ties and vibrant cultural exchanges among their people.

Apart from trade, defence, and culture, numerous other avenues exist for bilateral cooperation.

According to the website of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, India and Australia are members of various international forums including the G-20, Commonwealth, IORARC, ASEAN Regional Forum, and Asia Pacific Partnership on Climate and Clean Development. They have actively participated in the East Asia Summits and collaborated as members of the Five Interested Parties (FIP) in the WTO context.
