High Commissioners of India and Singapore hold introductory meeting in Canberra

High Commissioner of India to Australia, Gopal Baglay, recently met with the High Commissioner of Singapore to Australia, Anil Kumar Nayar, during their introductory session in Canberra. The meeting was marked by cordial discussions as both representatives acquainted themselves with their roles.
Gopal Baglay assumed his responsibilities as the High Commissioner of India to Australia in January 2024, following his tenure as the High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka from May 2020 to December 2023.
The close and longstanding friendship between India and Singapore is underscored by strong trade, cultural, and people-to-people connections that span centuries. According to the Indian High Commission in Singapore, Singapore stands as India's 8th largest trade partner.
Bilateral trade in 2022-23 surged to USD 35.59 billion, marking an 18% growth over 2021-22, with exports to Singapore amounting to USD 12 billion and imports from Singapore totaling USD 23.59 billion.
