If I Were A T-Rex (T-Rex Series Volume 1) is perfect for the young girl or boy that really likes dinosaurs. The illustrations are well done with many different pictures of the T-Rex being many different things. I think it certainly sparks the imagination of a child to share in the pretending and learn that it is possible for them to be whatever they can think of in their playtime. This is a whimsical book that is fun for the pre-school and early education child and especially those that are interested in the world of dinosaurs. I read this book on the Kindle with my five-year-old granddaughter and she found it very entertaining. Each picture was reason for conversation about whether or not she thought it was something she would want to be and if she thought the T-Rex would be good at it. Her favorite “If I Were” was that she and the T-Rex could walk on the moon together. It was a good sharing of ideas and time well spent with my grandchild. She wanted to read it again and again and had different ideas of what she and the T-Rex could do each time we read it. Gary Truitt and Frank Dawson definitely understand the mind of a young child. While If I Were A T-Rex features a little boy, my granddaughter thought nothing of it and was quickly involved in the story. You see, there is something very magical about a wish—and about Mr. Nimbus. It’s hard to fathom that a book about bullies and bullying could be heart-warming. But this book is definitely just that. Mr. Opio takes an all-too-common scenario and turns it on its ear. His tale makes the reader think about consequences—on both sides of the conflict. His heart—and thus his writing—is fair and just. First Frost is the first book in the Frost series written by Liz DeJesus. Bianca Frost smiles as she listens to her mother read ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarves’ to the children during Storytelling Hour in the Princess Room of the Museum for Magical and Rare Artifacts. Her mother, Rose, reads to the children three times per week, each time with a new story, much to the delight of the children and their parents. It had been ten years since Bianca’s father had mysteriously disappeared without a trace and she often thought about him. On returning home one night, after feeling something was terribly wrong, Bianca walks into the middle of a battle of magic between her mother and another woman, who then tries to kill Bianca. Realizing that magic is actually real, Bianca now sees the museum’s magical artifacts in a whole new scary light and is further horrified to learn what had really happened to her father. With the clock now ticking, Rose needs to teach her daughter to become a magical warrior in order to prevent their blood line from being eliminated completely in a war which began many generations ago. Liz DeJesus has produced an incredibly imaginative novel which was not at all what I expected. I felt sorry for Bianca in so many ways, especially in that she lost her father when she was so young. I pictured First Frost being a book about a cooler climate, but was pleasantly surprised by the story within which was fast-paced and introduces a girl who’d had her whole family lineage hidden from her. Liz DeJesus has created two very strong female roles – Bianca Frost and her mother, Rose – both of whom are able to protect themselves from harm on a whole new level. Each of the well-known (and not so well-known) fairy tales were so cleverly introduced, taking me back to my childhood years, although the revelations in First Frost most definitely painted them in a whole new light. I very much enjoyed reading the first book in the Frost series and would recommend this book to anybody who loves mystery, drama, and humor dished up with a huge dollop of magic on the side. - Readers’ Favorite review
This is embarrassing. Grown men are not supposed to be bowled over by novels clearly written for young (and likely female) audiences. I have the pleasure of being in a writer's group with Ms. DeJesus and when a chance came along to purchase the Kindle version of First Frost on a holiday bargain, well, I had to go for it. I had some extra credits on my Amazon Christmas gift card and said to myself, "What the heck?" Having previously read the synopsis for First Frost - as well as a few blog reviews - I figured it would be kind of a girly fairy tale with a twist or two. From what I'd seen and heard, there was enough to interest me. I write in the fantasy genre and fairy tales are, at heart, fantasy; so... First and foremost, First Frost is an excellent novel. It is well written with engaging characters and a tight, well-defined plot. The pacing is perfect; at no point in the story did I say to myself, "That's bogus! Character X would never be able to pull that off," or anything of the sort. The growth of Bianca Frost, the story's main protagonist is beautifully written and despite my rather gruff, public pooh-poohing of modern, young adult fiction, I was bowled over by what a great book First Frost is.- Michael Dunne - Amazon reviewer

Glass Frost is the second book in the Frost Series by Liz DeJesus. Bianca Frost is next in line to run the Museum for Magical and Rare Artefacts, which has been run by her family for many generations. When Terrance, the grandson of Magnus (aka the Big Bad Wolf), arrives at the museum from Everafter with a message that the Queen needs her help, Bianca heeds the call. Her parents reluctantly allow Bianca to go, on the condition that her best friend, Ming, is with her at all times. On discovering that one of Cinderella’s glass slippers has been stolen, Bianca and her loyal friends set out to discover who the thief is and to stop them from stealing the other, which is housed at her family’s museum. If the two slippers are united, it will cause much devastation. The chase takes them through many fairy tale landmarks such as an enchanted forest full of fairies as well as the home of the seven dwarves, before leading them through the portal to Earth and back again to Everafter. Bianca suffers injury, loss, and great sorrow, but she is determined to do everything she can to protect those she loves in both worlds, while trying to prevent the two glass slippers from being reunited. Liz DeJesus tells the most enchanting of all magical tales, encompassing some of the greatest fairy tales and blending them with dark magic, mystery and twisted realities which Bianca never knew existed until just a few months earlier. The characters in Glass Frost are so much fun and bring back many happy childhood memories. Facing your fear of the unknown and pushing yourself that extra mile to save those you love, regardless of the dangers faced, is a strong message in this second title. I look forward to reading the third book in the Frost Series to see what happens next. What if "happily ever after" isn't really the end? Ms. DeJesus has worked her magic once again by taking a classic fairytale, and making it her own. She has done more than simply rework an old folktale for a modern audience. She shows readers what happened to Snow White, Cinderella, the seven dwarves, and many other favorite characters after their stories were recorded. Did they truly live "happily ever after?" As a huge fan of fairytales, my curiosity was piqued. I dove into Glass Frost, eager to join Bianca on her latest adventure into the beautiful yet dangerous world of Everafter, a place where happy endings aren't guaranteed. I grew to care about Bianca in First Frost, so reading Glass Frost was like spending time with an old friend. I strongly recommend reading First Frost before this book in order to have a better understanding of Bianca, her family, friends, and the land of Everafter. Bianca definitely begins to realize just how strong she is in this tale. She faces some very difficult choices and I'm pleased to say that she handles them extremely well. Bianca is only seventeen, but she can't afford to simply live in the moment. She has to consider the future and what sort of witch she wants to become because magic, even good magic, comes with a price. Her maturity, strength, and desire to protect those she loves and put their needs before her own are very admirable, but what makes Bianca an even more realistic character is her fear. There is no shame in being afraid, and Bianca has the good sense to be more than a little apprehensive of what she might encounter in Everafter. She perfectly demonstrates the meaning of courage by doing what she needs to do even though she is frightened. I enjoyed watching Bianca and Terrance grow even closer in this romance. Their relationship is more than a little complicated since they literally live in two different worlds, giving the term "long distance" a whole new meaning. Bianca again faces a tough choice. Is she willing to leave everything she knows behind and join Terrance in Everafter? Bianca isn't the only character growing and changing in Glass Frost. Prince Ferdinand is back and more entertaining than ever. In First Frost, Ferdinand struck me as a slightly self-absorbed, but good humored young man always up for an adventure. In this installment of the series, Ms. DeJesus reveals some different sides of Ferdinand. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that he can be serious and thoughtful. He even puts his charismatic nature to good use in some delicate negotiations with some bad tempered fairies. I think Ferdinand has what it takes to be a great king someday. There are so many things to love about Glass Frost. The characters are compelling and unique and the land of Everafter is absolutely breathtaking. Shattered Frost is the third book in the Frost Series by Liz DeJesus. They find themselves captured once again after the Queen of Hearts imprisons them, determined that they are executed as soon as possible. With Terrance and Prince Ferdinand furiously seeking the women that own their hearts to bring them home, the men eventually find an alternate route into Wonderland, but are running against the clock in a land where people seem to know not only who the newcomers are, but where their fates lie. Liz DeJesus has written another timeless classic, which takes place inside both of Alice in Wonderland’s fairy tales – down the rabbit hole and through the looking glass. With all of these wonderful characters being magically linked in some way, the impossible always seems to make sense. Terrance’s secret surfaces create hope for all who are facing death in a land which is famous for sending people mad; if only Bianca and Ming would stop disappearing! The added story lines, which are not in the original fairy tales, are a clever delight in this fast-paced, action packed adventure which becomes more and more mysterious with each page. I thoroughly enjoyed Bianca and Ming’s new friends and the love and determination shown by Terrance and Prince Ferdinand, who will do anything to save them. Schultz - Southside Reviews There have been many stories in which chaotic conditions ensue after the sudden death or vanishing of large numbers of people. But I do not recall ever reading (or hearing of) a story like Blue Cole's recently published novel in which suddenly all adults go into a coma, and the children are left to fend for themselves. Cole presents interesting, exciting, and realistic portrayals of the childrens' struggle to survive, and their struggle to discover the meaning of the comas of their parents. The intensity of the latter struggle increases dramati- cally when they learn that each one of them will also become a "Sleeper" after becoming eighteen years old! I recommend putting this book on your good-read/must-read list! Blue Cole is the latest addition to the ever growing ranks of Coweta County's writers who have had books published in the twenty-first century. And Cole pays tribute to today's Coweta County by setting his story there. He is the second Coweta author to do so, the first being Tamala Callaway with her Super Natural series.
Don't fall asleep!!! I seriously didn't sleep the night I read this book, I read all night to finish it. One morning everyone over 18 just doesn't wake up. Ever. After a frightening day, Alan realizes that his little cousin is probably all alone and has a hair-raising trip to rescue the little girl. Color Blind by Penny Miller is an amazing and one of a kind book. Penny Miller perfectly captures what it's like to be an outcast teen in today's world while throwing in the paranormal world and making it all believable. The characters in Color Blind are realistic, even if they are shape shifters and other creatures of lore. The descriptions of the colors and changes that Harmony goes through as she gains color vision and powers put you right there with her, even making you feel as if you were Harmony. I have never read a book so unique, realistic, and believable and I sincerely hope that there is more to Harmony's story. Five stars isn't enough for Color Blind by Penny Miller; it needs about ten! It has some romance, but its not too bad. This book barely has any bad words. However, this book is sad. I'm not going to spoil it for you though so be sure you buy the book so you can read it! You will love it! Harmony sounds beautiful and very nice. She loves her adoptive parents very much. Tesch is Harmony's best friend and boyfriend. Tesch is a siren and, well lets just say, Harmony is a dragon. Charlie and Sarah are Harmony's adoptive parents that she loves. Charlie is a professor and Sarah has her own business. Sarah was a witch and Charlie was a were, but they both gave up their power when they adopted Harmony. They gave up their powers for love. Harmony was born colorblind, but when she started to see color it was a surprise to everyone! My favorite character is Harmony because she loves her parents and she loves Tesch. She will do anything to protect them. I recommend this book to those that love magic and fantasy worlds. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for ages 11 to 16.

5 stars! Harmony mourns the loss of her family and it is a struggle to get her to come out of her whole. Teach has done everything he can to help her. When she finally comes up for air she is kidnapped by Lord Cre Cre. Soon she is learning to control her abilities, discovering new truths, and coming up with a way to bring paranormal out of hiding. This second book in this series really develops Harmony and Tesch's relationship and magical abilities. I was amazed by some of the secrets that are revealed and wowed by her powers. I also did not foresee the whirlwind becoming an iconic role model for the group Cosmic Rumors would bring with it. It really brought harmony out of her shell. I also loved that the author brought several characters back from book one. There were a couple things that made me sad while reading but for the sake of spoilers I will not be sharing those. I was absorbed from beginning to end and enjoyed the way the homeless people were brought into the story without them seeming like a burden to society. In both stories a town is being attacked by an unknown nearby underground malevolence which has been there a very long time, but only attacks periodically. Evil Upriver, though, is unlike It in that the team of townspeople which forms to combat this evil consists of adults, not kids, as in It. Joining this team in Cole's story is Adam, a songwriter on a road trip who arrived in the town a few days ago. And, finally, there is another new arrival in this town -- Ricochet -- whose complex mystery I will allow you, the reader, to discover for yourself: it is not only mysterious in itself but also with respect to the question as to why Cole included it in his story. This story, like his first two, is a good read created by a writer with a great imagination -- I recommend it as I did the first two.

Where to begin, I finished Blood Lily a few days ago, normally I like to write a review right away but I wanted it to sink in thoroughly before I began, because there was so much that happened, it kinda leaves you with the feeling did that just happen. Blood Lily was fantastic, it literally grabs your attention from the very first chapter and does not let go. There is so very much happening, I have not read a vampire book like this in a long time, there was purpose, action, adventure, heartache, love and loss. The world and characters that Jenny Allen has brought to life are quite amazing take Lily (Lilith) for instance she is bad ass, seriously bad ass, not in the way Angelina Jolie character in Wanted was, but bad ass in that she does not even know it, she is smart, sarcastic (which I think is her best quality) does not give up even when the odds are stacked against her, she's a fighter. Then there is Chance let me just say I would have loved to have been Lily for just a bit, the attraction, no not just attraction the adoration that he has for Lily is something that most people will go without for there entire lives. Detective Cohen seems special in ways I am sure we have not even begun to realize, even if you want to drop kick him halfway through next week. Gregor, Lilys father has so many layers, I guess it would be hard not to when you have been blending into society for more then 600 years. Ashcroft is sick, twisted, he is demented is probably the nicest word I can use here. The rest of Allens characters are just as beautifully written, and I want more of the world, heck I want more of Lily and Chance, even Cohen. Wow. This book just sneaked behind me, put me on my ass and kicked me for good measure. The thing is, I’m a writer. I actually flatter myself into thinking that I sort of am a good one too, you know. Well, the very first thing I have to say about Jenny’s debut novel is that – and yes, I absolutely hate her for it – it is better than mine. We all got tired of vampires half a decade ago but it’s not Dracula, Diaries or Twilight kinda novel; it’s a gripping, fascinating, let’s-order-in-so-I-don’t-have-to-stop and stay awake until 3 to finish it kind of thriller that just happen to have non-human characters. I got caught from the first sentence and it was literally impossible to stop reading until the end. In one hand, you have Lilith, forensic who knows her shit, and generally verges on the kick-ass side of the scale. No whinny heroine there! I got a tiny bit frustrated with her at some point, but just in a “don’t go in there alone!!” kinda way rather than the usual “why don’t you just die? It would make the story relatively interesting” female lead tend to inspire. Chance, Lily’s bodyguard, is a flawless character; by that I don’t mean that he’s actually perfect, far from it. He’s childish and gets cranky, sometimes, but he is one of the most realistic male character I’ve ever had the pleasure to discover. He messes up. He gets emotional. The sweetness and vulnerability remind me of any thirty years old friends of mine; they aren’t old wise, seen-it-all! They play X-box and don’t wash their hands after taking a leek. It’s good to see a real man, and a swoon-worthy one at that. So yep, he’d quite high on my imaginary crush list. The first words I read in Blood Relatives by Patti L. Adams were on the dedication page. It said: “To all my enemies…you know who you are. And so do I.” I knew right then that this book would be good. The story follows the life of a very intelligent little girl named Anna Fay Kelly from the ages of five to eleven. At the age of five, Anna witnesses her mother kill her father. When her mother is not convicted, Anna is stuck living with her abusive mother and her beloved elderly aunt. Just when Anna thinks things could not get any worse, her mother marries a man that is just as evil as she is. Blood Relatives is not a light read. This is a good story and it is meant for the reader to take their time reading it so they can fully understand what Anna is going through. I liked that Adams started the story off in a courtroom. This added to the seriousness of the story and was the beginning of Anna’s traumatic childhood. This is where the reader meets Anna and learns that she is not your normal 5-year-old little girl. I also liked that Adams explained Anna’s way of thinking. A child sees things and understands them differently from an adult. I absolutely hated the character of Anna’s mother, Flo. I hate it even more that she reminds me of some mothers I have met. The ending of the story was a surprise for me, but I thought it was perfect. The things that Anna endured in those six years were truly heartbreaking. This book may be fiction but the actual story has happened to many people. If you like to read drama then I highly recommend this book. An awesome story!–Readers’ Favorite review
