MISSION THE MISSION OF THE INDIANAPOLIS ART CENTER IS TO INSPIRE CREATIVE EXPRESSION IN ALL PEOPLE. 2021 SUMMER CAMPS + TEEN INTENSIVES

SUMMER CAMPS + TEEN INTENSIVES 2021 JOIN US FOR A SUMMER OF ART EDUCATION, FUN AND NEW FRIENDSHIPS! In the Indianapolis Art Center’s Summer Art Camps and Teen Intensives, students work with professional artists to explore art, improve their artistic skills, and express themselves creatively! We believe that by participating in the creative process, young artists strengthen many other important skills including their communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills. We have taken preventative steps to help ensure everyone’s safety while still providing all the fun that comes from attending camp at the Indianapolis Art Center; working in professional-quality studios, the Art Center’s galleries and the 9 ½-acre ArtsPark!

THE CAMP DAY Whether campers are joining us in person or virtually, everyone will experience quality art education, art making and exploration. Campers registered for a combination of morning and afternoon camps within the same week will have a lunch break in between. Snack breaks will be taken at the discretion of the instructor, usually halfway into the class period. The Art Center does not provide lunch or snacks for campers.

THINGS TO REMEMBER: • • • •

Everyone must wear a face mask. No summer programming during the week of July 4. Wear tennis shoes suitable for the outdoors and clothes that can get messy. All art materials are provided

MIX & MATCH! Campers can combine any two half day camps to make it a full day experience! Supervision will be provided between morning and afternoon camps for all except for preschool camps. Campers will eat lunch and have creative play opportunities before the afternoon camp.

WHAT IS AN INTERACTIVE ONLINE ART CAMP? Interactive Online art camps are flexible, week-long home-based art experiences designed with your safety in mind! With a combination of printed and online resources, and live sessions streamed from our studios, students will connect virtually and make art! Virtual programs will follow the typical structure; one or two individual lessons per day with teaching artists demonstrating techniques and guiding students through creative processes virtually. Material kits will be available for curbside pick-up a week before the start of the start of the program and cost of this kit is included with your registration! Families will receive a schedule of live virtual meetings and a guide to help support this virtual experience.

TUITION ASSISTANCE The Indianapolis Art Center provides full and partial tuition assistance to eligible students with an easy application process. For more information or to apply, please go to IndplsArtCenter.org/TuitionAssistance or contact Rachel Thomas-Celmins, Camp Director, at RCelmins@IndplsArtCenter.org. Deadlines to apply for the Access Art Tuition Assistance program are April 26 and June 14.

FAMILY MEMBERSHIP DISCOUNT Members with a Family Membership can enjoy exclusive early access to course registration, a 10% discount on camps and teen intensives for the duration of the camp season. Discount does not apply to Make It Take It classes or Spring classes. Additionally, your membership comes with the satisfaction of contributing to local arts and ensuring our impact on Indianapolis continues. Your membership gift helps cover a portion of the costs of classes not covered by class fees. For more information, go to IndplsArtCenter.org/Membership.

ADVANCED GLASSBLOWING 2021 SUMMER CAMPS + TEEN INTENSIVES

At the Indianapolis Art Center, the safety and well-being of our campers, students, patrons, and staff is our highest priority. Our virtual camp offerings will begin in June and continue into July to coincide with our already fantastic onsite camps, classes, and Make It Take Its. We are continuously taking action to protect our creative community by adhering to the following policies and procedures: •

Online camps offer virtual art opportunities at home! Material kits are included and available for curbside pick-up.

Masks must be worn throughout in the building, including in every studio and all common areas.

Social distancing is enforced, with studios and class sizes having been reduced and reorganized to provide a distance of at least 6 feet between students.

Breaks will mostly be outdoors, weather permitting.

Campers and staff are encouraged to frequently wash hands. Restrooms are one occupancy use at a time. We have also added an outdoor hand washing station.

Studios with shared equipment have policies in place to ensure equipment is cleaned and sanitized after each use, though we do try to limit the amount of shared materials.

Curbside drop-off and pick-up for students at the East Entrance, allowing us to take the students to and from their car more quickly and safely.

Directional routes and standing spaces have been clearly marked throughout the halls.

Shields have been installed at Guest Services and the Library Coffee Bar.

Building is routinely sanitized and classrooms are thoroughly cleaned at the end of each class.
