It is also the first airport in the world with a library and an airport park

Source: Schiphol Group The Netherlands has a good physical infrastructure, with the worldclass mainports and the navigable inland waterway system being prime examples. The extensive network of inland waterways has excellent connections to the waterways in the rest of Europe. After Denmark, the Netherlands has the best water transport infrastructure in the world. It also has an extensive road transport network and is third in the world with regard to road network density. According to IMD (2012), the Dutch energy infrastructure also scores well, taking fifth place overall.

Most Dutch people do sport whenever and wherever they can. In the rain, snow or sun. Indoors or outdoors. As a member of a team or on an individual basis. Within or outside a club. In their spare time or as part of their school curriculum or working day. Thankfully, recent decades have seen strong investment in the sport infrastructure in Holland, with the money and effort coming from both government and non-government sources.

The Port of Rotterdam is the largest port in Europe. The trans-shipment in Rotterdam added up to 434.6 million tons in 2011, a new record. Also the number of containers handled reached a record level in 2011 of 11.9 million TEU. Business often choose to locate in and around the Port of Rotterdam because of its strategic location in north-west Europe, its depth, the many port facilities, and its excellent links with the hinterland. Many companies from America and Asia use Rotterdam as their base for the distribution of goods throughout Europe. Work on the ‘Maasvlakte 2’ project is currently on-going. This historic land reclamation project will expand the area of the Port of Rotterdam. The first phase will be completed in 2013, which is when the first containers will cross the quay. The combined activities of the port account for about 5% of GDP. More than 90,000 people work directly for the port of Rotterdam.

The Netherlands’ strong position in terms of logistics is due to the favourable geographic location of the country, at the heart of Europe; a sound infrastructure that includes the Port of Rotterdam, the Port of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Airport Schiphol; and a sophisticated logistics sector. This is reflected in the World Bank Logistics Performance Index 2010, where the Netherlands is ranked fourth. The Netherlands came out on top in terms of the efficiency and effectiveness of its Customs and other border procedures, the quality of its transport and IT infrastructure for logistics, the ease of use and affordability of its shipping, and the level of professionalism in the Dutch logistics industry. Building bridges together Dutch Embassies are highly involved when it comes to mayor sports events taking place in the country they are established. As shown in Poland and Ukraine (hosting EURO 2012) and the United Kingdom (hosting the Olympic Games of 2012) the Dutch Embassy can build bridges between local parties and Dutch entrepreneurs. Combine the local ambitions with Dutch expertise. FME works in close cooperation with Dutch Embassies all over the world, with a special focus on the upcoming events in Brazil, France, Russia and Qatar.

Brazil Green, yellow…and Orange! Now that the ball has been handed over from South Africa to the Brazil and the Olympic torch is on its way from London to Rio, all eyes are on Brazil for the World Cup in 2014 and the Rio Olympics in 2016. Brazil is economically and we see many opportunities for Dutch firms in sectors like logistics, transportation, security, construction, and also hospitality and stadium management. These are areas in which Dutch companies really excel and could share their experience with Brazilian counterparts. There are plenty of prospects here, but also a few hurdles to face. To companies planning to enter the Brazilian market, we therefore recommend to always do so with a Brazilian business partner. The Dutch diplomatic representation in Brazil consists of the Embassy in Brasília, Consulates General in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, and the Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSOs) in Recife and Porto Alegre. Through this network we facilitate the requests of Dutch companies wanting to start or expand their operations in Brazil. The Dutch economic network could assist by finding the right contacts through a ‘business partner scan’ or by providing insights on this upcoming market. The representation has at its disposal an extensive network consisting of companies and relevant government institutions. Introductory meetings can also be facilitated for all Dutch firms interested in Brazil during trade visits, often being announced by ministries and Agency NL / EVD. In November 2012 we will welcome Their Royal Highnesses Prince Willem-Alexander and Princes Máxima who will be accompanied by an extensive trade delegation making a tour through four major cities in Brazil. We are very glad FME is facilitating the sector of suppliers for sports 6

events during this trade delegation. We hope to see more FME-led visits to Brazil in the coming years. We will be seeing a lot of green and yellow, the national colors of Brazil, as the Brazilians move into the spotlight. The Dutch economic network is at your service to help add a little orange to these events.

France UEFA EURO 2016: Focus turns to France Following the success of UEFA EURO 2012 in Poland and Ukraine, the focus is now on the 2016 edition in France, where 24 teams will compete in the finals for the first time. From four to eight, to 16 to 24 next time around, almost half of EUFA’s 53 member associations will contest the European championship in four years’ time. France has played a key role in the founding of the UEFA European Championship. It was the brainchild of a Frenchman, Henri Delaunay, EUFA’s first secretary-general from June 1954 to November 1955. The 2016 tournament will be the third time, after 1960 and

1984, that a EURO final is staged on French soil. The French Football Federation (FFF) will be proudly hosting the 2016 event, with Bordeaux, Lens, Lille, Lyon, Marseille, Toulouse, Saint-Etienne, Nice, Paris and Saint-Denis waiting to greet the football family and each team’s supporters. Between now and 2014 the French authorities will adapt the infrastructures in these cities. UEFA which holds all the competition rights together with the FFF, have set up a joint venture, EURO 2016 SAS, owned 95% by UEFA and 5% by the FFF. EURO 2016 SAS is responsible for the operational organization of the event. The Dutch economic network in France consists of the Embassy in Paris and the Netherlands Business Support Offices (NBSOs) in Lille and Lyon. Through this network the Netherlands facilitate the requests of Dutch companies wishing to start or expand their operations in France and will assist Dutch companies that hope to become involved in the preparation and or innovation of the existing stadiums in the above mentioned cities. In doing so we hope to contribute to the success of UEFA EURO 2016.

Qatar Ready for a perfect match I am very much looking forward to the match QatarHolland. Not so much in the sense of a classic football match, played in the Khalifa stadium in Doha during the 2022 FIFA World Championship, but in a different sense. I am looking forward to see how we can match Qatari ambitions with Dutch expertise, how we can marry the Qatari can-do spirit to Dutch technology and know-how, and how we can link up Qatari and Dutch organizations and enterprises. That is the match I am looking forward to. This fits perfectly with the ‘raison d’être’ of the embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Doha because match making in the economic and commercial field is the embassy’s overall priority task.

Qatar has already shown on numerous occasions it can successfully host large scale international sports events. The 2022 World Championship, however, will be a unique event. Partnering with Qatar to make this event, which will be watched all over the world, a resounding success, will be an honour and a pleasure.

Russia Dutch Contributions to unforgettable events In the summer of 2018 the Russian Federation will be the center of the world when the country hosts the FIFA World Cup. Besides successes on the pitch we also hope for great Dutch achievements off the pitch. This event paves the way for an immense array of opportunities for Dutch companies, mainly in the field of infrastructure and stadium technology, industries in which the Netherlands upholds a grand name. Economic relations between the Netherlands and Russia do not have to be built up from scratch. On this moment already, we are among Russia’s top three trade and investment partners. Therefore the 2018 FIFA World Cup enables Dutch enterprises to benefit from the ongoing intensive cooperation between our two countries. Furthermore, since the eyes of the world will be on Russia, Dutch business will be able to showcase itself on a global stage. I am confident that after the World Cup, Russia will not only remember the Netherlands for the thousands of fans who will visit the country to support our national team but also for our innovative spirit and entrepreneurship that will contribute to the realization of an unforgettable event. Therefore I encourage any enterprise with international ambitions to benefit from our good name in Russia and profit from the opportunities that the FIFA World Cup will offer in the coming years.

Best practices of Dutch expertise The Netherlands has organised sports events like the European Championship Soccer EURO2000 and hosting the start of the Tour the France in 2010. As shown in the overview on page 18 Dutch companies were also highly involved by supplying their products and expertise in construction of stadiums and many other infrastructure projects in Poland and Ukraine for the European Championship

Soccer 2012 and the Olympic Games in London in 2012. Together with international partners, the Dutch industry works on innovative and sustainable solutions to achieve mutual goals on human capital, sustainability and profitability. Stimulating integrated processes and services covering airports, city centres, fan zones and stadiums, taking into account the country legacy.

Amsterdam Arena Sharing expertise and experience The Amsterdam ArenA has been responsible for over 16 years for the successful exploitation of the home base of AFC Ajax. The company owns and operates the Amsterdam ArenA, a 52.000 capacity stadium with a retractable roof. Shareholders are the City of Amsterdam (48%), Ajax Football Club (13%) and other private shareholders (39%). The stadium is part of a very successful area development with offices, retail, a shopping boulevard and other entertainment venues. The company also provides specialised worldwide services in the areas of stadium development and venue management through its daughter companies Amsterdam ArenA Advisory and ArenA do Brasil ltda. Projects have been executed in over 20 countries since the first multifunctional stadium of Europa started to share its knowledge in other stadium development projects. Amsterdam ArenA CEO Henk Markerink: ‘When we started with the initiation phase of the Amsterdam ArenA there was nobody to ask for strategic or operational support. It is a pleasure for me to now share our expertise and experience in other stadium projects in order to help them to realise sustainable projects from a social, financial and environmental point of view. And at the same time to let them learn from our mistakes and learning’s over the years.’ The recent accomplishment of the Amsterdam ArenA being voted as having the best pitch in the Netherlands is an example that underlines the words of Markerink. As part of the UEFA Euro 2012, Amsterdam ArenA Advisory performed design & operational services for half of the venues which were used during the tournament. A long term contract was secured for the design phase and start-up of the operation of the Donbass Arena in Ukraine. In the same country the stadiums in Lviv and Kiev were also intensively supported in the lead-up to and during the opening period. Over a period of two years the PGA Arena in Gdansk involved Amsterdam ArenA 10

Advisory in the design process. Various changes were made to the design which increased the financial viability of the project. For instance by including a commercial area into the design. Since 2005 the company has been active in Brazil. Together with local partners OAS and Odebrecht ArenA do Brasil has won the tenders in Salvador and Natal comprising the design, construction and operation of the new Fonte Nova stadium and the Arena das Dunas, for a total period of 35 and 20 years. ArenA do Brasil will be responsible for the operation of these World Cup venues. Since June 2012 the company is intensively supporting the operational organisation of the new stadium of Grêmio in Porto Alegre. Looking ahead to other FIFA World Cups, various smaller assignments have been already executed for Russian clients, such as for instance Spartak Moscow and FC Zenit St. Petersburg. And the company is also has strong ambitions to soon become involved in the exciting developments that currently take place in Qatar.By building on a proven strategic approach and combining this with the local culture and people, Amsterdam ArenA Advisory seems to be at ease in every part of the world. Ballast Nedam In the heart of the stadium, stands the future In 2011 Ballast Nedam developed the Plug and Play Core® for stadiums. A concept based on the philosophy to erect a stadium as easily and quickly as possible, with only a limited number of elements required. The modular design uses a limited number of standard components and an industrial building method. This unique quality makes the Plug and Play Core® fully demountable and suitable for reuse. Triggered by Qatar 2022 One of the triggers to develop the Plug and Play Core® is the FIFA World Cup™ in 2022 hosted by Qatar. The matches will be played in 12 stadiums, 9 of which will be developed from the ground up. After hosting the World Cup, modular parts from the stadiums will be used to construct 22 stadiums around the world in developing countries. Qatar’s vision holds an ambitious promise, creating a long lasting legacy and a unique challenge at the same time. It has motivated Ballast Nedam to start offering ideas and solutions to deliver on that very promise. For the new stadiums to be build in Qatar we developed the Plug and Play Core® that can be re-used after the tournament. For other smaller stadiums, but also for other functions. The Plug and Play Core® The Plug and Play Core® is a modular, demountable inside of a stadium. The Plug and Play Core® comprise the stands with its seating areas. International architects and turnkey contractors are the recipients of these insides. Various

insides can be build with the Plug and Play Core®, leaving the opportunity to have different exteriors and not ending up with a confection stadium. Centralizing manufacturing of the elements used in the Plug and Play Core® creates economies of scale and efficiency benefits. After use, the elements may be used to make smaller stadiums. The stadium elements can also be used for other purposes. Innovative business case Ballast Nedam’s Plug and Play Core® has several key advantages over traditional building methods. The planning and implementation times are shorter. Operating costs will be minimized and risks limited as a result of controlled and pre-engineered manufacturing. Most important are the financial gains during construction due to a shorter building time, reduction in the number of elements, and repetition of identical Plug and Play Cores®. Environmental benefits result from reusing and relocating a structure of this size. Our first raw calculation, where all the precast elements are re-used to build “new” stadiums, show approximately one third avoided emissions compared to traditional building methods. In addition to the huge environmental benefits of re-using a structure of this size, the re-use will save both the initial users and the new users a significant amount of money and energy, and countries like Qatar will realize its World Cup legacy. Bosch Security Systems Keep your fans happy and safe Large crowds and even larger emotions can be a great combination – but also a dangerous one. A number of serious threats arise when thousands of peo-ple all attend the same event: Pick-pocketing or coercing, violence, vandalism, or in the worst case, crowd panics are problems the organizers of major events have to face and be prepared for. To make sure the event remains a cheerful occasion for everyone, the security personnel needs to be able to keep an eye on all the areas at all times and so detect any problems as early as possible. An emergency plans needs to be in place, too. Major event venues and stadiums therefore require a well thought-out and comprehensive security system. Modern fire detection, video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection and public address or voice-alarm systems are essential for supporting security staff. Ideally, these need to be combined into an integrated system – as only then can effective and efficient processes be realized. Networks such as the Building Integration System (BIS) from Bosch provide a single web-based control point for monitoring all of a venue’s systems. This includes alarm management, fast alarm identification via location maps, and follow-up procedures. The system can seamlessly integrate fire and intrusion alarms, evacuation, access control, Video Surveillance Systems and building automation systems all in one platform. BIS also allows a single operator to monitor and control all the security systems, while enabling faster responses to emergencies and greater overall effectiveness. Concentrating all security functions in one station additionally frees up guards for other duties who otherwise might typically be monitoring just one system at a time. Finally, quicker alarm sensing and notification means faster response to emergencies. It’s looking good While the security system of a stadium or event venue is of crucial importance, usually the operators do not want the technology to be obviously visible. Whether the Allianz Arena in Munich, The O2 arena in London or the Beijing National Stadium – all these venues are synonymous with groundbreaking design. In most cases, such buildings also serve as tourist magnets and flagships for their cities and countries. 12

Known as the ‘Sea Crown’ in China, Shanghai Oriental Sports Center has in-stalled a range of Bosch security solutions to safeguard smooth operations in all venues. China’s newest and extremely complex sports venue features an indoor arena with 18,000 seats, an aquatics center with 5,000 seats, an outdoor diving pool with another 5,000 seats and a press center – requiring security and communication systems to be comprehensively designed. The operators also required loudspeakers that allow announcements to be heard clearly throughout the center. The next large-scale competition to take place at the Shanghai Oriental Sports Center is the 2012 ISU World Track Speed Skating Championships in March. In the meantime this multifunctional sports venue is open to all, as a way of improving Shanghai’s public sports facilities, and to promote the implementation of the National Fitness Plan. Imtech Policy-based adaptive urban traffic control for smooth flows

Effective and environmentally friendly transportation is the key to a city or region’s economy and environment, making it a better place to live and work. The city’s long-term strategy drives its policies, programs, design criteria, and projects that will further enhance the city or region’s mobility. Imtech Traffic & Infra recently introduced ‘ImFlow’ as the tool that works directly with these policies. The management system won the prestigious Innovation Award of the Intertraffic exhibition and helped cities to reduce congestion and to maximise the effectiveness of public transport. Jan Casteleijn, Managing Director of Imtech Traffic & Infra: ‘ImFlow is an excellent tool for controlling urban traffic management on the basis of policy priorities, so closing the gap between decision-making urban authorities and the operators of their urban traffic control systems.’ ImFlow is a highly scalable system suitable for single intersections, corridors and large city networks. The uniqueness of ImFlow is its real-time adaptive algorithm that automatically translates policy into optimal traffic flow. ImFlow supports multi-criteria optimisation at area, route and intersection levels and allows policies to be

defined for each level. ImFlow can track all priority vehicles within the networks and predicts the arrival and departure of public transport vehicles at signalised intersections and stops. A public transport vehicle may receive conditional priority based on the configured policies and its current status. It provides information to pedestrians and cyclists about remaining waiting time and can communicate with individual vehicles using cooperative technology as well. Olympic performance on traffic & infra Great events like Championships and the Olympic Games demand an enormous effort and are a competition for the organising cities to host them better than the cities of previous years. Every selected city intends to outshine, in terms of the opening ceremony, the stadiums, the technology in the various accommodations, and in terms of sustainability, accessibility and mobility. The trend we see is that stadiums are becoming more diverse. It is no longer just about sports, but often includes business meetings, concerts or other events. Because of this versatility the energy consumption is increasing. That is why we have created our ‘Green Stadium’ philosophy. We bring more integrated technology solutions, including innovative energy technology, and ultimately consume less power. ‘Greener’ stadiums Imtech has a strong reputation in stadium technology. That is why the home stadium of the German football club HSV Hamburg, has been named Imtech Stadium. We have put together an energy-saving concept that will decrease energy use in the Hamburg stadium with 3,000 MWh (approximately 25%) and CO2 emissions by 1,200 tons. Most recently, for the European Championships 2012 Imtech has realized all technical solutions on the National Stadium in Warsaw Poland, the Baltic Arena in Gdansk and Wroclaw Arena. Imtech also was heavily involved in the development of the Olympics site in London. Imtech takes care for the reactive and proactive technical maintenance of all traffic signals and related technology solutions for nearly 50% of the City, covering over more than 2400 signals and pedestrian crossings and 370 CCTV cameras, including the Olympic area. Nedap Security Management There is more than just safety of spectators Sporting venues like football stadiums, arenas and other sporting facilities are designed and build to accommodate sporting events. They enable the hosting of tournaments and matches and allow them to be viewed by many spectators. However, today’s sporting venues are much more than a place to practice and view sports. Most modern sporting venues have turned into multifunctional buildings and accommodate all kinds of other venues like concerts, seminars, exhibitions and meetings. In a growing number of cases they also host offices, shops, hotels and other leisure activities . Sporting venues like all other buildings also have specific security needs, that can be derived from its use and building characteristics. Hence, the extended multipurpose use of sporting venues also requires a different approach for its safety & security needs. Therefore Nedap offers an integral approach towards sporting venues no matter how or by whom they’re being used. Integral security in stadiums usually consists of access control, video surveillance, video observation, intrusion detection and public address systems. These technical measures combined with process based security rules make a security policy work. With AEOS, Nedap has developed a truly integral solution based on a powerful decentralized generic

controller capable of meeting all technical security needs. Due to the ability to run many different software components, similar to apps, on these controllers, it’s possible to really configure smart and sophisticated functionalities. This enables highly responsiveness buildings with improved security levels and lowers the total cost of ownership. A perfect example for this is the access control at stadiums. Besides the turnstiles to provide access for fans, a stadium has all kinds of secured areas like skyboxes, restaurants, technical rooms, offices, press rooms etc. All these rooms have different security levels and are to be visited by different kinds of people. Within AEOS all of these requirements and authorizations can be fulfilled from one system no matter if access should be provided based upon barcodes, contactless cards, club cards, biometrical verification or other methods for identification. Nedap Security Management is in the security industry for over 40 years. Everyday AEOS is securing millions of people around the globe. With the innovative AEOS system, Nedap is well prepared and positioned to equip more sporting venues for the coming major football tournaments in France (UEFA Euro2016), Russia (FIFA WC2018) and Qatar (FIFA WC 2022). Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg:”ACSA was very comfortable appointing Vanderlande Industries because of their excellent maintenance performance in the Central Terminal Building at O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg during the past 2 years. With their team they were able to contribute to our success during the World Cup in South Africa by ensuring that all soccer fans got their baggage in time with no problems.” Find our company profile on page 66

Moreover, the Amsterdam ArenA is a profitable stadium, a rarity in the world wide stadium industry. Since 2000, governments, clubs, construction companies and architects are being advised of stadium planning, design, management and commercial exploitation. Assignments are executed in over 20 countries, with the company being involved in projects in the large UEFA and FIFA tournaments. In Brazil the group is active since 2005 and is recently contracted for 35 years to make the future World Cup stadium in Salvador a success during its lifetime. The Groasis waterboxx is an ‘intelligent water incubator’ that produces and captures water from the air through condensation and rain. It makes it possible to plant trees or bushes on rocks, on mountains or deserts or any other place. The Groasis waterboxx has been tested in more than 50 countries with success for example, it has been tested in GCC countries such as Oman, Iraq, UAE and Bahrain. The results from Bahrain shows Sidra tree needed 45 liters of water per year only, whereas the current methods gives 50 liters per day (please look at the picture for one year old Sidra tree that used only 45 litters if water). The average cost for planting a tree in GCC countries is around 90 USD without the cost of water, whereas the total cost per tree in a large scale project is less than 7 USD. In November 2010 Popular Science organized the 4th Annual election of the ‘Best of what´s New’ innovation. De Oranjecamping is a professional camping concept for supporters of the Dutch national football team. This unique gathering of enthusiastic fans who travel after their national pride and form the Orange Army. Whenever the Dutch national squad qualifies for either a FIFA World Cup or a UEFA European Cup, De Oranjecamping and its visitors follow. The campsite has drawn international media attention during EURO2004 in Portugal, the FIFA WC 2006 in Germany and EURO2008 in Austria-Switzerland. South Africa in 2010 brought a whole new dimension, but the first intercontinental was a sounding success as well. The key to the success of De Oranjecamping can be found in the combination of a unique holiday experience and the support of the orange squad. The guests are staying at a camping venue that suits camping- and party needs. De Oranjecamping is for everybody who supports the Dutch national team, loves togetherness, a big party and going on a (affordable) holiday! De Oranjecamping is now expanding into new markets with the aim to provide camping concepts during the World Cup Football and the Olympics in Brazil for more nationalities than the Dutch.
