The ten year anniversary celebration kick starts already on Tuesday 30th at the Vikingship Museum with WARDRUNA live in front of the Osebergships at Bygdøy. Wednesday we spread the INFERNO fest to all the best rock clubs in town with 16 bands playing at John DEE, Blå, Victoria, Rock In and Revolver, before hell breaks loose at INFERNO’s main venue Rockefeller on Thursday. 46 bands and five days of extreme metal – and still there is more! HÅVARD REM The author of the book ”Innfødte Skrik. Norsk svartmetall“ (Indigenous Scream. Norwegian Black Metal.) The first in depth history of the development of Norwegian extreme music from the 80s until the present day. Describe yourself I quit school at the age of 18 in 1977, debut as an author same fall and been a writer ever since. I’m a non-fictional author who writes poems, lyrics and documentary. I have written lyrics for ten albums and written five biographies. What is your book about? Norwegian black metal from 1982 -2010. It is a thorough review of the history. I’ve been studying the old fanzines and analyzed the texts. I also traveled to Moscow, Beijing, Rome and Transylvania and interviewed people who are influenced by Norwegian extreme metal. When did your interest in extreme music start? I bought the King Crimsons ”Red” album at the age of 16 in 1975. But I did not start to listen to extreme metal until 2005. I wanted to find out why Norwegian black metal is so important

for so many people. It took five years and became a book. What is your relation to the Inferno Festival and Norwegian extreme metal? I’ve been visiting the festival the past years to do research for my book ”Innfødte Skrik .Norsk svartmetall “ (Indigenous Scream. Norwegian Black Metal). Both to see concerts and visit the Inferno Metal Conference. My son played at the festival last year (Ørkenkjøtt). The counterculture from the 70’s is still alive in black metal. Which bands are you planning to see at this years festival? Shining, Kvelertak, Monolithic, Ram-Zet, Taake, Ihsahn. Håvard Rem will be presenting his book at the Inferno Metal Conference Thursday, April 1.
