WELCOME TO INFERNO METAL FESTIVAL 2014 t's that time of year again. The Easter is upon us – and that means all hell breaks loose in Oslo, Norway. It means that it will be four days of nothing but the best in extreme metal. Back in 2001 Norway's premium metal festival changed the Norwegian Easter culture for metalheads and we have now done it 14 years in a row! Skiing and traditional Kvikk Lunsj chocolate had to be set a side, because what matters now is metal, beer and the greatest party Norway has to offer. We are proud to have made Inferno Festival an important part of Norway's culture and it is great to see all the people travelling from all over the world to be a part of our black Easter celebration.

Twin Peaks – Fire Walk With Me (1992) “Twin Peaks” is a milestone in television history. The creators, David Lynch and Mark Frost, originally wanted the series to go on for years with the murder of Laura Palmer being unsolved. The TV company, ABC, wanted it different, so it ended after only two seasons. David Lynch missed Laura Palmer so much that he returned to Twin Peaks with this movie. The timing was not good, but now 20 years later the quality of the movie comes to the surface in its right form. This is a nightmarish journey thought darkness seen from the mastermind of the great David Lynch. River's Edge (1986) “River's Edge” is one of the best movies to deal with the so called blank generation. With a lot of bad ass metal on the soundtrack, mostly Slayer, but also Hallows Eve and Fates Warning, this movie is cool as hell. And with the great cast, consisting of Crispin Glover, Keanu Reeves and Dennis Hopper, even makes this movie cooler.
As the Palaces Burn (2014) Back in 2012 Lamb of God was one of the biggest metal bands in USA. The band wanted to make a documentary about their tour and success on the road. Midways on the tour the disaster happened and a young fan died in the Czech Republic during a show. The documentary chances then from the focus on the band and fans, to a legal thriller where vocalist Randy Blythe is charged with causing bodily harm to another person with lethal consequences. KIM HOLM he great Norwegian cartoonist Kim Holm is back at Inferno for the third year in a row. Documenting the concerts directly and unedited with ink and brush from the side of the stage, his sketches is capturing the feeling of extreme metal. He has done artwork for, among others, Solstafir's “Svartir Sandar” and Vreid's “Welcome Farewell” album and video “The Reap”, adapted H.P. Lovecraft to comicsform with the graphic novel “Pickman's Model”, and contributed to the anthology “Satan is Alive: A tribute to Mercyful Fate”. His daily sketches will be displayed at Rockefeller and for sale at the festival hotel, and limited edition books of 2012 and 2013's Inferno-art will be available. Be sure to pay this great artist a visit during Inferno Metal Festival 2014!

So yes; Japanese CHURCH OF MISERY will play their doom metal in the lovely Oslo Fjord also on Friday. But be fast as a shark; there is only 100 tickets out and they will be gone very soon!

his is a three hour tour in the beautiful Oslo fjord where Church of Misery will serve you their classic doom metal hymns. The tickets are very limited and cost 250,- NOK + ticket feed. CHURCH OF MISERY The Japanese doom outfit Church Of Misery started in 1995. Their style of doom can be described as a mix between Black Sabbath and the more psychedelic bands from the seventies. Church If Misery are well known for making songs about serial killers and mass murders. They even got an EP named after the Norwegian descendant serial killer Dennis Nilsen. Their newest album was released to critical acclaim, last year with the title “Thy Kingdom Scum”. A concert with the doomsters at the sea will be a unique experience no fans can miss. Many of their albums are considered as classics today and are milestones in black metal history. Satyricon was the first Norwegian black metal band to join a multi-national record label, and has won several awards including the Norwegian Grammy, Alarm award and The Oslo Award. Their newest album was released yesteryear and went straight to number one on the Norwegian national album charts.

METAL HAMMER WINNER: HADENS T he winner of Metal Hammer's competition is HADENS from Bergen. They got everything that is needed to be worthy winners out of hundreds of participants. They are young, they are good and they are going to be the next big band from Norway. Their black metal can be slow from time to time, but still raw and sometimes very brutal. Hadens has so far released an EP called “Damnation” and are now working on their debut album. And from what we have heard; it is going to totally kick ass!
