TIPS FROM HEALTH EXPERTS In the meantime, here are some tips from health experts regarding what you can do to help prevent contracting and spreading both the flu and Coronavirus: • Wash your hands frequently in warm soapy water for at least 20 seconds or with an alcohol-based hand sanitizer. Experts say washing your hands frequently has the potential to prevent 40-60% of illness. • Cough or sneeze into your sleeve or a tissue. • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. • Put distance between yourself and other people who are ill. • Stay home if you show signs of illness. • Get a flu shot if you haven't already. Although the standard flu shot will not prevent the spread of coronavirus, it will prevent you from getting the flu. If you get Coronavirus while you are sick with the flu, you are more likely to suffer adverse effects. • Wash your hands immediately after touching common hard surfaces or shaking hands with others. Who is at Higher Risk? According to the CDC, those who are at a higher risk of getting very sick from this illness. This includes: • Older adults • People who have serious chronic medical conditions like: - Heart disease, Diabetes and Lung disease Watch for symptoms and emergency warning signs Pay attention for potential COVID-19 symptoms including, fever, cough, shortness of breath. If you feel like you are developing these symptoms, call your doctor. If you develop warning signs for COVID-19, seek medical attention immediately. In adults, emergency warning signs include: • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath • Persistent pain or pressure in the chest • New confusion or inability to arouse • Bluish lips or face For more information about the Coronavirus Disease, please visit the websites for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at https://www.cdc.gov/ or the World Health Organization (WHO) at https://www.who.int/ With all of our efforts and the support of our team, we feel confident that we are doing all we can to make our Community Center a safe place for you. We will continue to monitor the situation daily and communicate with you through the website (www.suncityaliante.org), eBlasts and The Breeze on a regular basis as needed. Sincerely,

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Greetings Residents, Occasionally, someone steps up to address the Board of Directors at our monthly meeting to chastise us on what they perceive as the negligent way we spend our money. I find absolutely nothing wrong with anyone speaking on any issue that concerns them, but I take strong exception when the facts presented have no grain of truth in their argument. I completely understand frustration, but it is difficult to speak with someone who is coming from a factual non reality and has no thoughts on ways they would have addressed the problem. Our community takes pride in providing all homeowners the opportunity to attend the many workshops that are held whenever significant amounts of money are being considered for expenditure. Attendance is usually small, which results in misinformation by way of the grapevine. Important information is delivered to all via the monthly “Breeze,” weekly e-blasts, Board of Directors open meetings and our website.

If you are displeased with your Board, you have an excellent opportunity to make a difference, and that is to join us and be a decision maker or become a Committee member, where you can shape what happens within the community. We are unpaid volunteers who give of our time and expertise, and I truly believe we are an exceptionally qualified group of people. We are all homeowners; when we spend money, it is not just yours, but ours as well. We are not 7 disinterested people as our decisions affect everyone. Sun City Aliante is a financially sound HOA because present and previous Boards have acted in a financially prudent way. Any Board member will be happy to discuss any of our decisions. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Sonja Bankston-Cullen
Therefore, as the newest member of the Sun City Aliante Board of Directors, I would be remiss if I did not share why I, Sonja Bankston-Cullen, submitted my initial application to serve on the Board of Directors. My rationale is very simple. I retired to an area, a neighborhood, a community that I believe was the best fit for me. I wanted to be in a place that was diverse, small enough for interaction, yet large enough for a level of anonymity.
I loved the idea of a 55+ active community that was quiet, beautiful, safe and well-maintained. I also knew that if I wanted our community to maintain those features that brought me here, it was necessary to become involved. I needed to serve the community in which I chose to live. I immediately found a committee that interested me – Lifestyle. I chose the Lifestyle Committee because it allowed me to provide support to the many clubs and special interest groups in our community. My involvement allowed me to see the inner workings of our Lifestyle Department and the Management Staff who are so very committed to the residents of Sun City Aliante. My service allowed me to truly see our community through a different lens. Wikipedia defines Community as a social unit with commonality such as norms, religion, values, customs, or identity. It also states that communities may share a sense of place situated in a given geographical area. Sun City Aliante is an Active 55+ Community that offers an array of clubs, activities, fitness classes, dances, concerts for each of us to enjoy if we choose.

We live in varied model homes that make our community uniformed, but uniformly beautiful and unique. As a member of Neighborhood Patrol, I am always in awe at how creative our neighbors are when it comes to landscaping décor. Another aspect of community that deserves our attention is the sense of neighborhood. It is so very important that we acknowledge, meet and communicate with those living in proximity to us – our Neighbors. Neighbors look out for each other. When my family and I moved into our home almost 3 years ago, I immediately reached out to those neighbors surrounding me. I wanted them to know me and the members of my household and I wanted to know them, because we live near each other. This idea of comradery among neighbors has proven to be crucial when someone is sick, on vacation, celebrating a life event or just needs help from time to time. As our Master Community continues to grow, knowing who lives near you and how to get in contact with them in case of emergency can only enhance this sense of community in Sun City Aliante. continued on page 15

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT...
The Sun City Aliante Veterans Club is unveiling plans for a new Veterans Memorial located on the front side of the newly expanded and enclosed Community Center to the left of the main entrance. "The Veterans Club is looking forward to appropriate placement of the Veterans Memorial to honor those who have served and are currently serving," said Wanda Tacey, chair of the Veterans Club. The project was spearhead by The Memorial Committee of the Veterans Club, headed Sy Nielson, in coordination with the Property & Grounds Committee and Gothic Landscape Company. "This has been a coordinated effort led by Sy Nielson and members of t h e Ve t e r a n s C l u b Memorial Committee including, Rich Sidoli, Ken Knudsen and Harlan Nelson. I am grateful for their dedication and attention to detail to bring our vision to completion, emphasized Wanda. "We look forward to the dedication of the new Ve t e r a n ' s M e m o r i a l Garden & Patio.” The new memorial is designed to serve as to a place to remember and reflect and is dedicated to all members of the United States Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Coast Guard, past and present. "We chose the commemorative phrase "Lest We Forget" to be inscribed on the monument as a tribute to our fallen our service members who gave the ultimate sacrifice," explained Sy. "The phrase originated after World War I, commonly referred to as The Great War, because 40 million people lost their lives. The phrase was memorialized in the poem RECESSIONAL by writer/poet Rudyard Kipling." The plans include incorporating the original black granite Veteran's monument, with the U.S. Armed Forces Bronze medallions (originally dedicated in 2012) and mounting it on tiered pedestals made of cinder block, raising the original monument about 3 ½ feet. Surrounding the monument, will be approximately 800 inscribed bricks (5 ½ X 11-inch) laid in a grid pattern. Residents are invited to purchase a brick, and to have it inscribed as a lasting remembrance; the person being recognized does not have to be a member of the U.S. Armed Forces. The new park will also include three benches located within the area to pause and view the monument and read the inscribed bricks.

The memorial bricks will be sold on a first come, first served basis.” All residents are invited to participate in the Sun City Aliante Veterans Club's Commemorative Brick Project. ASSOCIATION NEWS
LIFESTYLE NEWS Dear Residents, At the time of writing this letter, the Community Center is closed as a precaution for the Coronavirus wave that is sweeping our country. Because we care about yours and the team's health, safety, and wellbeing, all Lifestyle events have been suspended or cancelled. During this time, I encourage you to revisit some of the past Breeze editions and reflect on the wonderful memories shared with your Sun City Aliante neighbors. The headliners, sporting events, Broadway shows, museums, tours, Vista Room entertainment, movies, dances, etc., all contribute to the life experience of being a Sun City Aliante resident. You may want to try some of these things during this time: • Take walks • Write letters
Take a virtual tour of a prestigious museum • Try new recipes • Register for an on-line class • Re-arrange furniture (safely) • Watch Netflix • Drag out old puzzles • Organize closets • Polish silver (really?) • Start holiday shopping lists • Update calendars • Coloring books – try your hand at artwork • Organize kitchen cabinets/closets/drawers/garage • Spruce up your landscape • Call a friend •
These unprecedented times have certainly changed our day to day routines, but as always, we are here to inspire and motivate the human spirit to enjoy life. It is truly a privilege to be a part of this amazing community. We look forward to future bookings of entertainment, chartering of buses, organizing events in the Vista Room, and good times ahead! On a side note…are there any Chi Omega's in Sun City Aliante? Feel free to email me at dkent@suncityaliante.us, with your wish lists of events you have always wanted to attend. Sincerely, Debbie Kent Lifestyle Director
COMMUNITY STANDARDS Hello Residents and Guests! Thank you for being a part of a great community. From time to time, I like to remind you about the association's Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions (CC&R). Unfortunately, not all new homeowners and tenants take the time to read these documents. Understandably so, it is a pretty thick document; so, in this issue, I will highlight some that I frequently have to explain. Please note that these are just a couple of the many conditions and rules written specifically for Sun City Aliante. I encourage you to read the CC&R, Design Guidelines, and the Rules and Regulations. Prior to commencing any change to the exterior of a dwelling unit, an owner must submit an Architectural Review Committee (ARC) application for approval by the Architectural Design Committee. In reviewing each submission, the ARC may consider any factors it deems relevant. Decisions may be based on purely aesthetic considerations. Each owner acknowledges that determinations made on such matters are purely subjective and opinions may vary as to the desirability and/or attractiveness of particular improvements. The ARC has the sole discretion to make final, conclusive, and binding determinations on matters of aesthetic judgment, and such determinations shall not be subject to review as long as they are made in good faith and in accordance with the procedures. Each owner shall maintain his or her lot, dwelling unit, and all landscaping and other improvements comprising the lot, as well as any perimeter wall or fence, in a manner consistent with the Governing Documents. Each owner is responsible for maintaining the sidewalk and landscaping located in the public right-of-way adjacent to his or her lot, unless all or part of such maintenance is assumed by the Association. Pets that are permitted to roam free; endanger the health of other persons; make objectionable noise; or constitute a nuisance or inconvenience to the owners or others within the properties shall be removed upon the Board of Directors request. Golfers have a five (5) minute period, commencing on the departure of any golf ball from the Golf Course onto a property, to enter upon the property to search for and recover errant golf balls. If any lot is fenced or walled, the golfer shall seek the owner's permission before entry. The existence of this easement shall not relieve golfers of liability for damage by errant golf balls. As I mentioned, the conditions and restrictions I summarized are just a few. I often must inform our residents who come into my office or via email. Lack of knowledge or lack of understanding will always lead to unnecessary frustration. If you are new to living in an HOA or new to the Associations Board, please ask questions before assuming the worse. Reminder: Trash pick-up is every Tuesday and bulk pick-up dates for the month are April 7 and April 21. Please don't place garbage cans at the curb before 6 p.m. on Mondays and remove them no later than 6 p.m. on Tuesdays. If you have any questions or need any clarifications, please contact me at 702-638-5006 or at assistantmanager@suncityaliante.us. Nelenie Aronce Assistant Manager, Director of Standards & Compliance

EXPANSION UPDATE Update on Expansion & Enclosure Project "Pardon Our Dust”
The newly-expanded area with the picturesque view.
Currently, during the closure of the Community Center, construction crews will continue to work on the Expansion and Enclosure Project. (Subject to change). During March, the crew finished installing the windows, put up the drywall, textured and painted the walls and worked on the HVAC system. During April, the construction crews will complete the mechanical work in the ceilings, install the grid ceilings, start the flooring, stucco the building on the outside, start painting the exterior and install the remaining doors. Throughout the project, we will continue to provide frequent updates in the eBlast, The Breeze magazine and on the new website (suncityaliante.org), including where we are, what's affected, what's next and new timelines as they develop. You can now obtain comprehensive information on the new website. On the bottom of the home page of the site, there is a dedicated section called “Caution, Work in Progress” that contains an animated video showing the design concept and the current timeline. We appreciate your patience throughout the duration of this construction project. We are confident you will be excited about the changes we are making for a larger and more attractive Community Center.

NEIGHBORHOOD NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH
NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH MONTHLY BULLETIN: Does Your House Have a Metal Security Door?
COMMITTEES
[ [
Take a quick walk or drive around the area and you will see new construction that is now up to the borders of Sun City Aliante. This growth will give us more commercial outlets in the future, as shopping and services grow to meet the demands. There is also the need for rethinking the security of our homes as “unpleasant” aspects of growth will also touch our neighborhoods.
One of the effective means of safeguarding your home is the installation of a metal security door. A history of burglaries over the years in this area has shown over and over that unprotected front doors can be kicked in within seconds. Some of the models have long walkways or side entrances that give more cover to the criminal, especially if there are bushes that are too close or too high and obscure the view of a door from the street. With a security door you will have more protection if you answer the door to someone you do not recognize. A locked security door puts a barrier between you and that stranger, which gives you a decided advantage. Opening a door with no barrier leaves you extremely vulnerable. Are you a renter or do you own a property that you rent? If the house does not have a metal security door, this is one important upgrade that protects not only the renters but also the value of the property.

Millions of Americans are applying for 2020 Census jobs, more than 270,000 local and national organizations are engaged, and the majority of U.S. households will receive an invitation to respond to help ensure that every person in the U.S. is counted. “The 2020 Census is on mission, on schedule, and on budget to promote an accurate count,” said Census Bureau Director Dr. Steven Dillingham. “Response is important because statistics from the census are used in distributing where hundreds of billions in funding for school lunches, hospitals, roads and much more. This invitation will include instructions on how to respond to the 2020 Census online or by phone. By April 1, most households will have received an invitation delivered either by mail or by a census taker. Next month will be their Spring Celebration. The menu includes Ham, Potato Salad, Deviled Eggs, Green Beans and Cranberry Fluff Salad. The group meets the first Tuesday of every month in the kitchen at 9:30 a.m. If you have any questions, please call Amy Redd 501-773-5201.
Spring is upon us and the Ceramics Club members have been busy creating their spring and Easter projects. The photographs shown are items made by many members of the club. They display the various items they have been working on and the different techniques they have chosen to use. The projects are all beautiful in their own way. Whether you want to try ceramics for the first time or go back to this fun form of creativity, new members are always welcome and they have certified teachers ready to help you if needed. Stop by and visit the club either on Wednesday or Saturday morning to see what is possible. For any questions or more information regarding the club, contact Jill Ernest at 702-954-6299 or Denise Simon at 914-907-6899.
FEBRUARY BASKETBALL CLUB CONTEST WINNER It was a very interesting night on court # 8 for the February “Buck in The Bucket” contest. Viking Jim and Larry From Omaha tied for first place. They participated in a shootout to determine the winner; however, the lights were on a timer and the time ran out. As it takes such a long time to restart the lights and the Community Center would be shutting down, a tie was declared. Larry and Jim donated the winnings to the club's annual March Madness Tournament party that will be held on March 19. “ Vi k i n g ” J i m Tillmann has a history of shooting the lights out in tournaments. His favorite club contest is Around the World; h o w e v e r, R e d Harvey thinks he is super skilled at shooting free throws. Jim was b o r n i n Montevideo, Minnesota and lived in that state the majority of his life. His favorites are as follows: Pro Team - Minnesota Vikings; Basketball Team - Minnesota Timberwolves; Player in Any Sport - Magic Johnson; Singer - Buddy Holly; Movie Secretariat. Some of Jim's greatest basketball memories were watching Magic Johnson and Larry Bird compete. Congratulations to “Viking Jim.” We'll try to keep the lights on for you next time!

PAN CLUB If you're a card player, or enjoy any games, and are not familiar with Pan (“panguingue”), you might just love this game. It incorporates some of the aspects of gin rummy and poker, and has some oddball rules that make the game a lot of fun! An ideal game has 7 or 8 players at a table; players strive to have two or more tables; so they are attempting to attract more players. They play at the Community Center on Monday evenings and Friday afternoons. Come by and observe their game, and if you're interested, them know, and they will arrange a time and place to teach you. They are a friendly group, and would love to have you join them! Please contact Renée Snodgrass at 702-458-0013 or 818-807-3369, or email reneesnodgrass@cox.net for more information.
