Her inspirations delve from diverse influences of musical styles. Collaborating with local and worldwide musicians to

fuse classical precision with the rhythmic nuances of Jazz, Latin beats, Afro-Caribbean melodies, pop rock, and club mixes, has allowed The Piano Queen’s artistry to extend beyond performance; she simply becomes the music. Her dramatic style, interpretation and brilliant technique delivers a harmonious musical experience.

Growing up in South Africa, Gaynor van Vuuren reminisces on her childhood obsession with the piano, “I would spend hours practicing. My early morning sessions disturbed my father’s sleep, and he resolved this by constructing a soundproof music room!”

The Piano Queen’s musical theatre and drama skills began taking shape at the age of 6 years old, when she portrayed Gretl in a rendition of “The Sound of Music,” captivating the audience and stealing the spotlight with her heartwarming portrayal of the youngest child in the Von Trapp family.

Van Vuuren continued to develop her natural improvisational piano skills, by entertaining audiences, providing the musical accompaniment to silent classic films like Charlie Chaplin, on Saturday’s at the local movie theater.

AS HER MUSICAL TALENT GREW, SO DID HER REPUTATION

She was invited and was thrilled to offer a performance to Queen Elizabeth II on a visit to South Africa and her Majesty’s glowing review led to performances for Nelson Mandela, as well as to the assembled Presidents of Africa.

When sharing how she arrived in Miami, van Vuuren said, “I think everything happens for a reason. I accidentally had a ticket to Miami, instead of going to New York City. I thought, well, I haven’t been to Miami and went with the flow. I stayed in a boutique hotel in South Beach for a few weeks, and I fell in love with the diversity and vibrancy that pulses through the city. As the days unfolded, Miami became my home and it rocks.”

Gaynor’s already flourishing career has also embodied her own unique, dazzling fashion designs. For many years her custom creations have appeared at countless charity galas, weddings and beauty pageants, as well as official foreign engagements. The launch of her “PQ Haute Couture line” signifies her personal glamorous, elegant style, which has graced audiences with her music around the world.

Beyond her awe-inspiring performances, Gaynor The Piano Queen™ is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She frequently conducts master classes and workshops, sharing her expertise and nurturing the next generation of musical prodigies. Embarking on my fitness journey was a transformative experience that taught me valuable lessons about the intricate relationship between exercise, nutrition, and rest. While I initially focused on workouts and diet, I soon realized that sleep was the missing piece of the puzzle. In this personal article, I’ll share how recognizing the importance of sleep in my fitness routine changed my perspective and ultimately propelled me toward greater success.

DISCOVERING THE IMPACT OF SLEEP:

As someone who was passionate about fitness, I spent countless hours sweating it out at the gym and meticulously planning my meals. However, it wasn’t until I began experiencing burnout, lackluster workouts, and inconsistent progress that I started questioning my approach. It was during this time that I stumbled upon the pivotal role of sleep in the world of fitness.

MUSCLE RECOVERY AND GROWTH:

My journey taught me that quality sleep is an essential catalyst for muscle recovery and growth. Every intense workout caused microtears in my muscles, and it was during sleep that these tears were repaired, making my muscles stronger and more resilient. Understanding this process illuminated the importance of giving my body the time it needed to heal and regenerate.

ENERGY LEVELS AND PERFORMANCE:

Once I began prioritizing sleep, I noticed a significant boost in my energy levels and athletic performance. I found myself having more stamina during workouts, pushing myself further, and achieving new personal records. It was a revelation to experience the direct correlation between restful nights and my ability to excel in the gym.

HORMONE REGULATION AND WELL-BEING:

Delving into the science behind sleep, I learned about its impact on hormone regulation. The intricate dance between hormones like testosterone and cortisol had a profound effect on my muscle development, fat loss, and overall well-being. Ensuring adequate sleep not only helped me physically but also contributed to a more positive and focused mindset.

WEIGHT MANAGEMENT AND MINDFUL CHOICES:

My struggles with maintaining a healthy weight were alleviated when I recognized the connection between sleep and appetite regulation. A well-rested body is more likely to make mindful food choices and resist unhealthy cravings. This shift in mindset enabled me to make better nutritional decisions, which in turn supported my fitness goals.

MIND-BODY BALANCE:

Perhaps the most surprising lesson I learned was the profound impact of sleep on my mental health and motivation. Sleep deprivation had previously led to mood swings, irritability, and a lack of motivation to work out. By prioritizing sleep, I found myself more mentally resilient, motivated, and enthusiastic about my fitness journey. My personal odyssey through the world of fitness unveiled an essential truth: sleep is not a luxury, but a fundamental pillar of success. Recognizing its role in muscle recovery, hormone regulation, energy levels, and mental well-being transformed my perspective and propelled me toward greater heights. My journey taught me that achieving fitness goals isn’t solely about sweat and discipline; it’s about nurturing the body through restful sleep. As I continue to evolve on this path, I carry with me the unwavering knowledge that a good night’s sleep is not just an indulgence—it’s the foundation upon which my fitness aspirations stand.

Charles Chaplin

Venturing into the realm of cinema without mentioning Charles Chaplin would be akin to leaving one of the most radiant stars of the cinematic constellation in the shadows. From his humble beginnings on the streets of London to becoming a global icon, Chaplin’s life and work shimmer with a unique brilliance that continues to illuminate our screens and hearts.

On April 16, 1889, in the heart of London, a child was born destined to redefine comedy on celluloid: Charles Spencer Chaplin. Raised in a family of performers, his childhood was steeped in stage performances and the echoes of audience laughter. Neon lights and the spectacle of the stage were his early muses, cultivating the fertile ground where his exceptional talent would flourish.

Discover the captivating life and timeless cinematic contributions of Charles Chaplin. From a challenging childhood in London to his iconic character Charlot, Chaplin’s films, like “Modern Times” and “The Great Dictator,” remain powerful narratives that explore humanity’s struggles and joys. However, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Poverty and hardships marked his early years, leaving an indelible mark on his creative approach. It was this adversity that led him to understand the struggles and joys of humanity, and to translate them into his future masterpieces.

The leap to fame came when Chaplin signed with Keystone Studios in 1913. It was here that his most beloved alter ego was born: Charlot, the vagabond with a noble heart and an indomitable spirit. With his bowler hat, cane, and unmistakable mustache, Charlot became an emblem of silent cinema and a bridge that connected the audience’s laughter and tears.

Chaplin’s films transcend time. From frantic physical comedies to profound explorations of the human condition, each film was a stroke on his narrative palette. “Modern Times” (1936) stands as a satirical critique of industrialization, while “The Great Dictator” (1940) dares to confront the horrors of

Born and raised in Switzerland, Jacqueline Volkart began her distinguished career at the Swissotel in New York after graduating from EHL. Throughout her extensive professional journey within Marriott International’s luxury properties, she has worked in various locations, from New York to Mexico, Puerto Rico, and beyond. The influence of her parents, her father’s veterinary background, and her mother’s hospitality skills instilled in her a passion for hospitality. Beyond work, she enjoys traveling, exploring restaurants, and engaging in sports such as tennis, soccer, skiing, and Formula 1.

Volkart emphasizes the uniqueness of the hospitality industry, where each day brings new challenges. She believes in inspiring her team to provide genuine service and create lasting connections with guests. She has pursued continuous education, earning qualifications like CMP and CAM, as well as an MBA from Glion. Her daily goal is to inspire the next generation of hospitality professionals. The philosophy of The Ritz-Carlton is built upon genuine care and guest comfort, fostering a strong culture upheld by its Ladies and Gentlemen team. Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background

I am a proud Hotelier, born and raised in Switzerland, then after graduating at EHL, started my career in New York at the Swissotel. Since then, over three decades later, I had the honor and privilege to work at great hotels & resorts at Marriott International Luxury properties. My journey has taken me from New York to Cancun Mexico, to Miami (three times), Puerto Rico twice and San Francisco. Since January 2021 I am the proud Market General Manager for The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and The Ritz-Carlton, Bal Harbour.

What drew you to this profession?

My parents, my dad a veterinarian, and my mom the ultimate host, we always enjoyed having guests from around the world at our home back in Switzerland. Welcoming guests with all the attention to detail was in the DNA of my mom. My dad inspired me to learn many languages as of an early age. Adding that we live in the Zurich Wine Country was nice growing up.

What hobbies or activities do you enjoy outside of your profession

Love to travel, explore new restaurants and sports, tennis, soccer, skiing and of course F1.

There are many opportunities to learn, besides my CMP (Certified Meeting Professional), my CAM (Condominium Association Manager), I also graduated with the MBA from Glion in International Hospitality and Service Industries Management, writing my dissertation “Components of leadership behaviors influencing the identification of potential leaders.”

What inspired you to pursue a career how did your journey begin?

My journey began in New York as a J1 student in New York. Starting my career in the city that never sleeps, was the steppingstone for my international career, which brought me to incredible cities and resorts over the past 30 + years.

Could you describe your typical work environment

Back in time, a fun one was when a guests mentioned that he has issues with his Blackberry, one of my employees brought him, as she thought, a new bowl of beautiful blackberries.

How do you balance your life with the profession that you select

Selecting, training, and trusting your team is the key for a balanced life. Plan activities on the days off that truly disconnect, though as Albert Schweitzer once wrote, “Success does not lead to happiness, happiness does, when you love what you do, you will be successful.”

Hormonal health is an important issue for women, since hormones play a fundamental role in the balance of the organism.

Hormones play an important role in women’s mood and emotions. Stress, progesterone and adrenaline are some of the hormones that can influence the emotional state of women. It is important to be aware of these hormonal effects when treating emotional disorders in women and to consider treatment options that address these hormonal changes.

Regardless of age, a woman’s hormones all work together like a symphony; if a part of the orchestra does not work correctly, then the melody it produces is out of tune. Signs of hormonal imbalance in women are a very real quality of life issue. All women should be aware of these signs of hormonal imbalance.

In the last 100 years we have doubled our life expectancy, the soft tissue glands that create our hormones are forced to produce them longer than ever before. Our increasingly stressful lives, worsening nutrition, and lack of physical activity combine to result in declining levels of hormones in our bodies.

Even when only one imbalanced hormone is present, it can cause the following symptoms of hormonal imbalance in women: Hot flashes and night sweats, PMS, weight gain, mood swings, insomnia, depression, fatigue, low libido, fibrosis, vaginal dryness hazy memory

Hormone levels are a delicate balance, and that balance can be easily upset. Hormone imbalances can be caused by stress, hormonal disorders such as diabetes and PCOS, birth control medications, or natural changes in the body such as pregnancy and menopause.

Stress triggers the production of cortisol, a hormone produced in the adrenal gland that increases heart rate, blood pressure, and muscle tension. High cortisol levels can be related to changes in a woman’s libido and menstrual cycle, and can cause anxiety and depression, as well as low levels of progesterone, estrogen, and testosterone, thus producing a major imbalance in the most important hormones that dominate women and their moods.

Ginseng can ease anxiety and mood swings, while black cohosh, dong quai, and evening primrose can alleviate hot flashes. According to a study from the Linus Pauling Institute, foods rich in phytoestrogens include: flax seeds and sesame seeds; carrots, spinach, broccoli, and cauliflower; alfalfa sprouts and clover; split peas, pinto beans, and garbanzo beans; and tofu and other soy products. It’s also important to choose organic and hormone-free meats, dairy, and eggs.

A small change in hormonal health can have a big impact on a woman’s quality of life. For this reason, it is important to pay attention and take steps to keep it in balance. Food is one of the most powerful tools to take care of hormonal health at all stages of a woman’s life. A balanced and nutrient-rich diet is essential to maintain hormonal balance. It is important to include foods rich in protein, healthy fats, vitamins and minerals in your daily diet. Also, it is important to avoid processed foods, refined sugars, and saturated fats.

Another important factor for hormonal health is regular physical exercise. I stay at Duttapukur, West Bengal, which is my hometown.The natural beauty of Duttapukur is really good. There are greeneries everywhere, and it’s a very calm environment. It helps me to think about my ideas of work and inspires me.

My work studio is very simple.I have only one computer and two monitors and a graphics tablet. Also i used to draw the rest of my day so in my study room there r some canvas, drawing notebooks, and different types of colours. I love to do watercolour and sketching so I have different types of colours and pens, pencils.

I’m Middle Eastern but grew up most of my life in Miami, Fl. I’ve always been passionate about the arts, more specifically make-up, hair styling, & fashion. My father was a barber his whole adult life, exposing me to a passion I had within this realm. After getting my degrees in communication I began to work in television production, doing hair & make-up, & fell in love with it, thus propelling me into getting my cosmetology license.

My earliest memory of being interested in make-up arose around the age of 10-12, always admiring women’s makeup that I would see all around me. It would strike me to begin to play with different colors, looks, styles, eyeshadow shades, & lipsticks hues, all on myself. Every time I had the opportunity to go out, I would try new looks and feel more glamorous, differently each time depending on the occasion and outfit. It made me feel sexy, beautiful, confidant & more desirable, and I loved every bit of those feelings. In these moments I began to think that everyone could look more beautiful with just the right color palette’s and that I have the power to beautify people with my skills.

I received part of my training formally in cosmetology school, yet most of what I know today stems from my internal creativity and ability to perfectly paint someone’s face based off of their facial structure, costume, and physique. Most of my training comes from hands on experience in the field over the last 20 years, with clients feedback.

My signature make-up style/technique, is using the motto “less is more.” Living in Miami, and doing many shoots outdoors in the heat and humidity, you learn that too much make-up creates a lot of heaviness and line exaggeration on the skin, thus leading to a less than desirable look. So I’ve learned that simplicity and covering up the flaws are the most important part of the look. What sets me apart is that I am a very good listener and I ask my clients what they desire. I deliver what they verbalize to me, instead of enforcing my desires upon them.

Some of the most memorable milestones I have achieved in this career as a make-up artist have been the moments with cast members that have felt like time with family. To me that family like unity & appreciation many cast member’s have given me have been worth all that I do. Those moments are the most memorable & fulfilling milestones.

One challenging / rewarding experience I’ve had was working for a Rolex commercial with a pro golfer. I went to his home in Orlando for the job as I was directed by my producer, yet he was not expecting me leaving me to have to prove myself and win him over, which I did and he was at ease and impressed with my work. He was very happy with my job and was left at peace and trust within me and my work which felt like a huge success after his initial shock. It ended up leading to an incredible production of the commercial and also turned out to be so much fun.
