In the previous article, I discussed one of the beliefs about the origin of the universe, the Heliopolitan cosmogony, but I didn't finish it.

So, I will continue with it.

Shu (God of the air and father of Nut and Geb) went and separated the couple so that there could be life on earth. But it turned out that Nut had become pregnant. Ra, upon learning this, decided to prevent her from giving birth during the 360 days of the year, as he was angry with them, but all was not lost. Thoth (God of wisdom, writing, and knowledge) noticed the event and decided to bet on senet (an ancient sacred board game similar to chess) 5 seconds of time. In ancient times, years were 360 days. After winning a total of 5 days, Nut was able to give birth to her 5 children: Osiris, Isis, Horus the Elder, Nephthys, and Seth. Since then, years went from being 360 days to 365 days. However, those 5 days are not under the influence of Ma’at (the abstract concept of order, balance, justice, truth, and universal harmony). Therefore, during those days, chaos reigns, which does not mean it is something bad, since in ancient Egypt there was no good or evil, only balance. But when chaos reigns, anything can happen, both good and bad.

Now, answering the second and third questions I previously asked. Do the gods have a secret name? And if so, why?

I will tell you a story that not many people know. A long time ago, Isis wanted to have Ra's powers. To do so, she needed to find out his secret name. So, she devised a plan: she took a hair from him, turned it into a snake, and left it on the path he walked. When he passed by, the snake bit him, and since he had not created it, he could not heal from its venom. Therefore, he began to worsen and called the gods, asking them to help him, but none could, except for one goddess in particular: Isis. She asked everyone to leave the room, and when they were alone, she told him that she would only heal him if he told her his secret name. He refused outright.

Quite some time passed, and when he saw himself near death, he called her and asked her to never reveal his name to anyone. She swore it and he revealed it to her. Immediately after, she healed him, and so, after a while, he managed to fully recover. Isis got her way and, to this day, has the same powers as Ra.

That is why the Egyptians have three names: the name of their heart (ib), the name of their soul (ba), and the name of their ka (breath of life). The latter was the secret name, known only by the parents and the child. No one else could know it because they could use it against them with powerful Egyptian magic. If they cast magic with the name of your heart, it barely affected you; if it was with the name of your soul, it affected you a bit more; but if it was with the name of your ka, you were lost.

Hence the great importance of the secret name both for the Egyptians and for the gods.

Now, did you know why the priests bathed before going to the temple? It was not for what the Greeks believed, that it was to enter pure or anything like that. They were simply sweaty and dirty from the heat and the desert, and they wanted to enter clean and perfumed.
