Upgrading Your Success by William Molitor, BCH, CI The decision to change something in your life, whether it is to create a more healthy life style or gain control over your emotional state, always begins with a thought. That thought, whether it was generated by a physical ailment or is simply a desire to experience something new, is still just a thought. Regardless of the reason by which the thought was generated it is always true that you never take action without first having a thought. That is why over the last decade I have centered my hypnosis practice on helping people to learn more about the incredible power of their thoughts. This idea of powerful thoughts is not new to most of you. You may have read about it before, or heard someone speak about it. Have you ever wondered why changing a habit, which is driven by a thought, seems to be so difficult? Hopefully by the end of this article you will be able to say: “Yes, now I know why and I know how to change it”. A brilliant man once said: “We can’t solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them”; that man, of course, was Albert Einstein. In considering this statement, have you attempted to change something in your life using the same thought process that created that problem? How exactly did that work out for you? Let’s talk about a new kind of thinking, a thinking that begins in the place where thoughts are stored. This new kind of thinking begins in that part of your mind that records and maintains everything that you have ever encountered. Every sight, sound, touch, taste and smell is stored here as well as the emotional charge associated with every event that you have lived through. This part of your mind is commonly referred to as the sub-conscious mind. Simply put, it is a massive data collection unit capable of processing, by some estimates, up to 400 billion bits of information each and every second of your life. As impressive as this sounds, consider what would happen if the information that is stored there was

4

outdated or inaccurate. What if the way that you are operating from day to day is determined by the same outdated or inaccurate information? The truth is that this is exactly what is happening. If you are doing anything that you consciously do not want to do it is because you are operating with outdated information. Every time that you continue to run this outdated program you are reinforcing it, making it stronger while at the same time pushing it further and further from your own conscious awareness. Now for the good news: Creating and running a new program is not as difficult as you may have experienced in the past. You could say that it is as simple as thinking, and if you believe that thinking is difficult - I challenge you not to have a thought! Thinking is easy. Doing it on purpose with a specific intent takes a little more effort in that you want to consciously choose a specific thought. With a little effort new habits can be created that are just as powerful as the ones that have gotten you into the present situation which you want to change today. Hypnosis is defined by many is a heightened state of awareness. The hypnotic process has been used for centuries. The only thing that has changed is that today’s professional hypnotists have a better understanding of how your mind works and therefore can help you create thought processes, which can rapidly and permanently create the changes that you desire. A hypnotist can not control your thoughts. Hypnotism is not a form of mind control. It is a powerful tool for self improvement. A professional hypnotist can help you create a mental environment that allows you to create the thoughts or programs that promote the actions that you wish to take. The results often seem spectacular because most people have spent their life thinking about what they do not want. This old way of thinking results in a long painful process for change. When you decide to use hypnosis it is like deciding

Bringing Light to Liberty

by Marcia Cantrell to upgrade your mental computer. You want to add new programs that have the best information available. Using the old outdated or inaccurate information, which is currently stored in your subconscious mind, will only create more of the same problems. The way to upgrade using hypnosis is to load those new thoughts or programs in a way that allows you to have complete creative control over the information being presented. This is what being in the heightened state of awareness called hypnosis facilitates so well. So when the time comes to end an old habit, whether those habits are physical or emotional, the real question should be, do you use the same old way of thinking that created this habit, or, do you upgrade and gain real control of your life? For most people the choice is simple.

Spring Brings New Hope by Jaycee Burgess, MA

Spring is the season of renewal and rebirth. Every new bloom fills us with a sense of hope and expectation. In springtime it becomes a little easier for us to remember that a new day brings new opportunities and that each sunrise brings with it the possibility of a fresh start.

quality of your life. It focuses your attention, helps you to optimize your own gifts and talents, streamlines the process of change, provides tools and strategies for reaching your goals, helps you realize your life’s purpose and create the future you desire.

But regardless of the season, new opportunities are easier to wish for than create. Often we know we need to make adjustments in our lives, but have no idea what those adjustments are or how to make them happen. We can feel our own potential trying to bloom like the new growth of spring. It’s almost as if our real life is trying to push through the rich soil after a long cold winter. We know that we are capable of so much more‌ better relationships, a better career, better health, a better future, and a better life.

When I chose to go into life coaching, I wanted the process to be a fully integrative system for clients; a system that utilizes and connects all of the parts of our being, namely, mind, body, and soul. Most of us have some tools for each area. Others of us have well functioning systems in place in one or two areas. But the real power lies in having strategies in place at all three levels, and most importantly, the ability to connect and integrate them. At any given point in our lives and depending on the situation, the ability to quickly and effectively tap into one area may provide an optimal grounding or starting point.

Working with a life coach can help you discover all that is possible for you. Life coaching provides a supportive and customized approach to help you truly enhance the

move beyond any challenge. Inside each one of us is our very best self. Someone who loves her job, has amazing family and friends, feels great, and lives in joy and contentment. A life coach can guide and motivate you to manifesting your dreams and hold you accountable in the process. Life coaches generally work with individuals or small groups, in person or by telephone conference. But regardless of the setting, it is important to find a coach that you can really connect with. You need someone who puts you at ease so you can honestly explore your inner world and find the life path that is truly yours. Often our days seem to be filled to capacity with obligations and responsibilities. But an investment in you, by partnering with a life coach, is an investment in a life worth living. It’s like a breath of fresh air in the springtime. Jaycee Burgess, MA Integrative Life Coach

by Kathy Vaske When you have problems and you don’t feel you have clear vision on what needs to be done, you might want to get some spiritual advice from your own guardian angel or guide. Take a spirit journey and possibly get a glimpse of them, let them give you their name. Allow a passed on loved one to approach and give you their love. It is all possible when you take a spirit journey and you raise your energy and vibration to the highest as they lower theirs. You will meet somewhere in the middle and truly magical things can happen. Our angels and guides are ever ready and waiting. They never turn away from us, we simply get side tracked sometimes and think they might not be there when we need them. We need to ask the question and then be patient until our own guardian angel brings us the answer. When we are open and listening for the answer it usually comes within 24 hours to three days. The answer can come in the most surprising ways. Be alert for the communication so you don’t miss it. Answers can come in repeating symbols that show up in our lives or out of the mouths of babes. Life gets real exciting when we stay aware that our answer can come at any moment. A reading with your angel or guide can give you insight, encouragement, and even a boost to your faith. The Phoenix of Spring by Charley Sky This spring is a red letter spring for me. I spent the last week of January in the hospital. While not true, I was certain I would never see spring planting. I was that sure of my demise. But, “Infinite Intelligence” had another plan. Very long story, but six blood transfusions later, and I am a new man, a veritable Phoenix. The doctors and nurses said my numbers on admission were not consistent with life. Well, I felt bad, very bad, no doubt. This feeling bad had happened progressively over the course of two years. So I just thought I was getting older, and maybe this was my lot in life. I stand in utter amazement at what six bags of blood and a couple bags of iron can do for a man. I truly feel like I am twenty five years old again. Well, needless to say, I am filled with euphoria. The day before I went to the emergency room a fifty foot walk next door exhausted me totally. Now a forty minute aerobic walk is scarcely registered, a calm jaunt, and little more. And what does this have to do with spring? EVERYTHING ! I am engaged in a process of blooming that exceeds any other period of my life. And, I am recommending that you allow yourself a phoenix moment. Seriously, if you are on this side of terra firma...rejoice! You have another springtime. I know, I am always suggesting homework, and once again, I will. Go for a walk with new eyes. Like today was the first, or the last day of your life, and you wanted to take it all in, every detail, every subtle shade of spring. I have always focused on being optimistic, seeing the proverbial glass as half full. But now, this is a new game. I was feeling ninety five and in bad health. Now, feeling twenty five again, I say bring it on. So, as I often say, why not? Why not make today the best day of your life, and do it again tomorrow... seriously, why not?

8

As always dear readers, I send love and healing your way. Have a superb spring! Make a new friend, walk through the woods, do something that brings you joy. And, share the love and joy with others, you have the power. Thank you for being alive. Love, Charley Sky

Baker Chiropractic Saves Infant from Surgery

Beth Martin & Her Infant Son “Every time I see him stretch his arms above his head, I breathe a sigh of relief!” My son Jackson’s birth was very traumatic. He was an emergency forceps delivery. He wasn’t breathing upon birth and had to be put on a mechanical ventilator and sent to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital NICU. He stayed there for a week where we were informed that an MRI showed some damage to his brain in the frontal lobe. As a result of his birth trauma and/or the damage to his brain, Jackson’s arm movements and range of motion were drastically affected. He couldn’t lift his arms above his head and he carried his arms in a “bulldog” position.

In trying to address this issue, we were sent first to a physical therapist and then an occupational therapist. Neither could figure out the root of the problem with his arms. The occupational therapist actually referred us to an orthopedic surgeon and suggested that surgery might be a possibility. At that time, Jackson was 5 months old and we were still seeing the same issues with limited range of motion and abnormal posture. I decided it was time to try something else. I researched a bit and found that the doctors at Baker Chiropractic and Wellness had the best reputation in the area with infants. I made an appointment, not sure what to expect. At our first appointment, Dr. Paul explained that Jackson’s issues were probably caused by the trauma to his neck and spine when the forceps were used at birth. We started out with an intensive plan, going to see Dr. Paul three times a week. Dr. Paul was very gentle with Jackson’s adjustments – Jack generally smiled and babbled the whole time! Jack is now 7 months old and has a full range of motion after less than 2 months of Dr. Paul’s care. We are very grateful to Dr. Paul and his staff for helping our son. His posture now looks very typical, and every time I see him stretch with his arms above his head, I breathe a sigh of relief!

Holistic Heart Health - Part II by Dr. Cathy Rosenbaum In the last edition of Infinity, we talked with the ladies about new information regarding prescription medications for high blood pressure and other cardiac indications and dietary supplements like calcium, antioxidants, and other vitamin/mineral combinations that may cause unwanted long term effects or negatively impact prescription medications. This month presents part two of Holistic Heart Health focusing on ‘smart’ nutrition and mind, body, spirit interventions for women and men to keep our hearts healthy. Here are just a few of the ways we can either get off or stay off of prescription medications as long as possible. Nutrition Good nutrition is heart healthy and comes from sticking to balanced portion sizes and the Mediterranean Diet. The Mediterranean Diet is the world’s gold standard and includes plant based protein for muscle mass and immune health, antioxidant (yes, red wine!) and anti-inflammatory (i.e., oily fish, olive oil, nuts) food strategies for overall health and well-being. Studies have shown that a 4 oz glass of red wine daily helps the heart due to red wine’s antioxidant content (e.g., polyphenols like resveratrol in the seeds and skin of red grapes). Red wine is thought to lower blood pressure (www.tcsma.com). A new Dutch study confirms red wine might have benefit for our hearts, but not through blood pressure lowering. Rather, red wine may act as an anti-inflammatory food - one which decreases blood stickiness and risk of blood clot that could cause a heart attack. Remember that red grapes are a healthy non-alcoholic alternative to wine if you prefer. Holistic Mind Body Spirit Tips Because of a connection between the mind, body, and spirit, heart healthiness can be enhanced by managing our thoughts and our ‘bad’ stress, as well as making important lifestyle and spiritual choices. Here are some fun ideas to consider in 2012. Physical Heart

10

• Schedule a regular massage to ease tight muscles and stress points • Sign up for Yoga classes • Dance (has anyone been involved in a flash dance mob lately?) • Exercise moderately at least ½ hour most days of the week Emotional Heart • Find ways to belly laugh. • Enjoy your favorite music. • Walk in nature when weather permits, and use your senses to vividly describe surroundings, acknowledging your place in the universe. • Try aromatherapy with a drop of lavender essential oil on your pillow at night as a relaxing fragrance, or try lavender as a tea from leaves grown in your own yard. • Let your broken heart heal through the stages of grief. Grieving loss is an important part of keeping our emotional hearts healthy. Social Heart • Work on building your relationships with others and communicating face-to-face. Spiritual Heart • Refresh your spirit by volunteering in the community to give back, pay it forward, and say ‘thank you’ for all your blessings. • Forgive others who have harmed you and ask those you have harmed to forgive you to build your spiritual heart. Preventative Check Ups When in doubt, if you think you might be having a heart attack, be conservative and get to the emergency room to be checked out. It might save your life!

Spring time is a renewal of life. It is a time where God Awakens the sleeping from their slumber. He welcomes them to another season to balance nature in all her glory. I personally have never understood how anyone could deny the existence of God, ESPECIALLY in Spring when all the miracles of birth are exploding in a rainbow of colors as trees and plants bring forth their buds, flowers and leaves. Spring, for me, is truly a season of miracles that can only be orchestrated by Creator.

Life Cycles or It’s Peeper Time! by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger

As all of us here in the Midwest know, Spring is trying to start early this year. We are delighting in walking outdoors at 9 p.m. without a coat to see the stars shining brightly. The sun is not only out some days, it’s WARM. Families are strolling outdoors, airing themselves out after a rainy winter. Dogs are smiling widely, cats are prowling for careless mice venturing out, and the robins are back in town already. For us in the country, the small frogs that live in our drainage ditches have come alive in song, luring eligible female peeper frogs to their ditch for a little procreative fun. Our horses have started their mud rolling early, much to their delight, and they are beginning to shed. Squirrels are venturing down from the trees, and the grass is beginning to green. Daffodils are blooming, trees are budding, and all seems right with the world – unless you are one of the many people devastated by early year tornadoes. Our hearts go out to those families, and we are grateful for all those who are trying to help them.

12

Left to my own devices I could keep going on and on in this vein as Spring and Fall are my favorite seasons. Terri gently suggested that perhaps readers might be more interested in the fascination that animals have for young humans, and vice versa. I think that fits quite nicely with our early season of renewal and hope, don’t you? Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal for all the elements – the sky grows brighter, the sun warmer, the tree sap begins to flow and new leaves appear, weeds spring up all over, birds return and have babies, and we see newborn horses, lambs, and calves begin to show up in the fields. Insects reappear, and in the late evenings we begin to see the baby rabbits hop about. If you think about it, perhaps that is one of the reasons why we humans enjoy the season so much – we are drawn to the young of others. They remind us of new beginnings, new possibilities. We are fascinated by their rapid change from blind baby to curious youngster

U niversal Prayer to full grown adult, sometimes in the matter of a week or two. How many of us will take time even when we are very busy, to stop and smile when we see our first baby rabbit or raccoon or bird of the season? We have lived on our property for 13 years now, and we have noticed that we have generations of birds that return to us – some like the Wrens and Towhees that nest every year. Others, like the Blue Jays and Red Headed Woodpeckers, seem to return every other year or so back to where they, or their parents and grandparent, were born. If you visit a farm or zoo, you will perhaps notice that the reverse can also be true. We visited the Cincinnati Zoo a couple of years ago, and I was drawn to the Polar Bear area by the laughter of children. There I noticed that an adult polar bear was in the water tank right by a full window filled with children. He would slowly sink to the bottom of the water, then push back up to the surface blowing air bubbles the entire time. He did this over and over, and the children were delighted. Terri’s horse Rohan is very curious when our neighbor’s little girls come over to see the horses – he will come clear over to the fence just for them. The horse cookies don’t hurt either, but that’s not his main focus, it is the children themselves. Wild animals will sometimes approach human children (providing they are sitting quietly) more readily than human adults at times. Why? We believe the answer is very simple. Animals connect with others through their heart center. We humans, especially adult humans, tend to reach out mentally first and decide whether or not to connect with another. Human children, in general, tend to reach out from their hearts first just as animals do. Simply put, animals and children connect to others in the same way. Human children have open hearts, and the animals recognize this, and relax into that invitation for connection. This ability to form and nurture a heart-to-heart energetic connection is also the basis for animal communication. Spring is the time where this interaction, this connection, can be more likely for adult humans as well. The season of renewal reminds us all of the invitation to connect to the Divine through Nature, to our animal friends, and to each other – with open hearts. Happy Spring!

Self Soothing Without the Use of Food by Jean Jeffers We all do it more than we like. We may eat to comfort ourselves when not hungry, going to the refrigerator and mindlessly nibbling to control our anger and frustration, helping ourselves to seconds, even thirds for dinner to quiet our frazzled nerves. For too many of us for too long, eating has become the chief measure to comfort and soothe ourselves. What has happened to our ability to choose pleasure, to have balance in our lives? In her book, “50 Ways to Soothe Yourself Without Food, the author, Susan Albers, Psy.D. looks into this problem and suggests a series of measures to employ to find comfort without the use of food. They include the following : Mindful meditation. This has become a popular form of activity in recent years for quieting the mind but the roots of meditation are ancient. There are various methods employed but they mainly center around the awareness of breath, and the saying of a simple phrase such as love, trust, peace. This technique may quiet the inner critic bringing calm, right here, right now. It slows one down and provides relaxation and hopefully less thoughts of eating. Change your thoughts. This according to Albers, includes the use of journaling, practicing affirmations, or thinking of the glass half full when feeling empty.

massage that is a sweet fragrance, are ways to please ourselves with soft sensations. Providing distractions as a form of soothing. The author describes how in tight economic times, the sale of lipsticks goes up as this is an inexpensive pleasure that is rewarding to the buyer. Or shopping can be a distraction as long as it is kept within bounds. Knitting is another way, or the use of crafts. Even music can help. Distraction in the form of too much TV is not a good practice. Soothing through social relationships. Finding a buddy, joining a blogosphere, are social endeavors as is having a pet. Volunteer work is another possibility says the author. Many of the previous examples change brain chemistry, elevating mood, and depressing our desire to eat. While these practices take patience to learn, they do work. Other ways to soothe ourselves include going for a drive, going to a lake or the water, even going to an amusement park and riding the roller coaster. For me, having a friend with whom to confide goes a long way to easing my desire to eat. Taking a class, going dancing, joining a book club are some of my healthy diversions.

These activities may bring clarity to an overworked mind, put into perspective what one is concerned about, and prevent another food attack. Soothing sensations to calm the body. Albers includes here such aids as soothing scents to rejuvenate, sweating at exercise, sleeping away the desire to eat, and massage to feel better. A candle with a scent that is refreshing, and oil for

If You Believe You Will Receive by Michael McAdams As we make our way upon this journey that we call life our experiences, desires, and motivations are guided by our core values and a belief system that incorporates all the best that our Heavenly Father would wish upon His beloved children as we so wish and desire the best for our children. No responsible parent grants to a child the unwise pleadings and supplications a loving parent knows will not be beneficial in the development and expansion of consciousness of the child in this existence. Nor does our Heavenly Father grant to His children requests made that in the long run are not beneficial to their development and progression in experience. It is said our Heavenly Father answers all prayers. Sometimes, for our benefit, the answer is no. The last three articles submitted have been a series showing the manner and availability of teachings and information from spirit teachers/angels who are truly God’s direct representatives. The necessity of establishing a filter of protection and having an open mind reveal the connection available as we allow ourselves to open this channel of communication with our own personal spirit teachers/angels who willingly serve us as they serve our Heavenly Father. Clearly the messages and teachings received by Wilma Jean Jones in her book “An Angel Told Me so” as revealed in these previous articles are being given from a high source and offer a positive outlook and an encouraging attitude toward all that which we must deal with on a daily basis as we walk our chosen path in this existence. As I contacted various publishers in my effort to bring Wilma Jean Jones book “An Angel Told Me So” to market, I have held strong in faith and belief that the depth and quality of the messages and teachings Wilma has been privileged to receive over this twenty two year period will benefit all who with an attitude of humbleness and humility of spirit shall incorporate into their thought system that information they deem worthy to enhance their appreciation of the fact that these spirit teachers/angels have our best interest at heart and strive in effort and purpose to engage and

provide for us all the help that is necessary to achieve that which we desire and deserve for the efforts that we have made to further and enhance our purpose in this existence. One publisher’s website I contacted asked a question about the work I was submitting. The publisher asked, “What makes your material unique? Why would anyone want to read this?” I thought that was an excellent question and had never really considered it before. As I sat at my computer, I relaxed my mind and asked for an answer to this question. These words were made known to my mind: “The uniqueness of any material is in the manner in which it touches the soul. An open and searching mind pulls the soul, and the body in which it inhabits, onward and upward with hunger and determination in its quest for spiritual nourishment ever mindful that the path upon which we walk is the path toward God. Lives lived, experiences endured, goals accomplished, and loved ones lost are all encounters upon that path. Strive always for the highest possible communication with our Heavenly Father. Believe in yourself as the Father within you is guiding, leading, directing, and comforting you upon this journey that we call life. Blessings be upon you as you walk your chosen pathway.” Spirit Speaks Copyright 2009 This answer was given because in all confidence and faith I believed I would receive. I did not compose this answer. These words were made known to my mind. I was simply taking dictation. You should ask with all confidence and faith as well that you will receive the answer or advice you seek. Ask always with the expectation that you will receive. You may not always be satisfied with the answer but trust and believe your spirit teachers/angels do indeed have your best interest at heart. Advance your ability to communicate with your

spirit teachers/angels by receiving with an open mind. Establish your filter of protection as you open these avenues of communication allowing God’s direct representatives into your thought system. Our spirit teachers/angels lead, advise, and guide our path with divine inspiration. They have our best interest at heart and serve our Heavenly Father by serving us. Many are the times we are led by forces, inclinations not of our own making but always of our own choosing. Return to the Art of Massage by Joy McCulley, LMT

As with much of any industry, across the board (from health ‘care’, to the industry of sugar, to even various religions), hasn’t our country’s focus shifted from the people to ‘product’? Are YOU seeking a return to the simpler, less chaotic path? The above are observations made along life’s way, no particular judgments tied to it, as all happens with purpose ~ even if for the mere choosing of a different journey. Rather than going with mainstream, one has the ability of discovering trails to be traveled. Dare to march to the beat of a different drum. Whether personally, or within one’s networking arena, most of us probably know someone affected by such industry mind-sets. Personally speaking, I was fortunate to have a 9 year career in banking. While working with a high school diploma, hard work and dedication served me well. However, circumstances beyond my control totally shifted the last couple of years for me. Upon closure of the job, I found myself with the opportunity to start over from the ground up, going back to school to pursue my passion: Massage Therapy. The unforeseen situation gave me the time to truly evaluate what IS valuable in life, and for me, it’s not the rat race of “industry”. My approach to massage is different than some. I value the connection with the healing energy aspect, sharing the creativity of the art with my clients, rather than concern myself with mass production of massage sessions. I view each of my clients as their own masterpiece. I’m blessed beyond measure to be used as a tool, whether for their restorations through life or their transformations through personal growth. When asking potential massage therapist why they choose this field, quite a few tend to see the dollar signs associated with the industry side of it (at typically $60-$100+ per hour, depending on where one goes).

20

However, the greater question arises; do you get what you pay for, quality speaking? Just a consideration… How many places book sessions back to back to back, all for the sake of profit, seeing how many sessions can be humanly, or inhumanly, possible? Where you go, do they provide an assembly line of massages or is your sense of wellness truly being served? There is a difference in the robotic aspect of repetitive massages vs. connecting with a therapist which holds the art of massage at their core. I hear too many instances of clients being able to feel when their therapist is having a bad day, or senses when the therapist is rushing through their own day, thinking of maybe the next session just minutes away. Within the energy of massage, many are able to sense when their therapist’s attentions are elsewhere. Massage can be a vulnerable experience for many, and I believe the forefathers of medicine intended the caring of another’s well-being to remain at the forefront, rather than adapting to the profit end of the scale, or at least to have a balance between the two ends of the spectrum. Do you know a massage therapist or massage entity which is selfless in such a way, that they themselves, don‘t rush through life, feeding into the mind-set of “industry”? Is it about the profit of the product; or is it about the People? Maybe the difference doesn’t matter to some, or they simply aren’t interested in experiencing anything other than their fast-paced world. Those choices are fine, each is where they happen to be. As I transitioned from that hectic pace, I contemplated “how can I be of utmost service for my clients”? I find, to be true to myself, and to offer you the care I find most endearing, is to walk that path less traveled, even if it means a decreased number of sessions per week. I understand the quality of Presence I’m then able to offer, for your ultimate sense of well-being. If I were to run the rat race myself, how is it that I’m then

Diabetes or HyperAcidosis Which is it?

D.C., F.A.S.A.

also get rid of the excess carbonic acid, thus balancing the blood pH and raising the pH. Then when you take you blood sample to check it, the glucose will be lower because of getting rid of the excess acids.

What is diabetes, type II or childhood diabetes? What are the symptoms that accompany “diabetes”? Chronic kidney failure, thirsty, weight gain, craving sweets, feet swelling, gum disease, frequent urination, fatigue, blurred vision and other related symptoms.

Guess what? Drinking carbonated beverages adds to the carbonic acid levels in your system. I have heard dieticians tell diabetic patients that they can have all the diet pop that they want. They could not put a worst substance than “diet pop” in their system.

All of these symptoms are under the control of the posterior pituitary which is up in the front part of your brain. The ADH or antidiuretic hormone is the one that controls the acid-alkaline balance in your body. It has been said that you inherit diabetes. I say that it is not an inherited condition, but rather an inherited malfunctioning posterior pituitary gland. The reason being that all what we call diabetes is nothing more than hyper-acidosis. In other words you blood is too acid.

In years past I was involved with the production of insulin at Armour Pharmaceutical Research Laboratory in Illinois. Every twenty-four hours we produced 10 pounds of crystalline insulin that was sent to another pharmaceutical company to be put in injectable bottles. The profit that was made form this production back in 1955 was pretty astronomical. Today there are many other forms of synthetic insulin products. So Diabetes has become a very large revenue generator. Almost as big as chemotherapy, which is a 200 billion dollar year business.

In looking at the symptoms that are generated because of the condition, they all involve water functions. This is why it is known that exercise will lower the blood glucose. It is also known that the kidneys are affected by the acid-alkaline balance that is controlled by the posterior pituitary gland. Ironically enough, the posterior pituitary gland needs potassium in order to function. This is why many people with this condition crave chocolate which is the highest source of potassium. Unfortunately, it gives you the potassium and also takes it away, because of the caffeine in it. So it satisfies the craving, but inhibits the normal function of the posterior pituitary. This could alter the acidalkaline balance that may allow the pH to go down causing the blood to become very acid or what we call diabetes. My experience with reading laboratory reports is that when the blood glucose is high, what it is saying is, the carbonic acid levels are too high due to the fact that the lungs and kidneys have not been able to get the excess out of your system. When exercising, your extra perspiration is getting rid of the carbonic acid in the lungs. Likewise, the kidneys step up their activity to

22

All type II diabetics have been told that they will take insulin in one form or another for the rest of their lives. This means that you would be injecting yourself every day of your life. This is just because the whole concept is that the “diabetic “ is insulin dependent. This is because their pancreas is not working properly by not producing enough insulin. However, my concept, which I have proven is true, can be changed by eating certain foods that balance the acids in your body. With dietary changes and exercise you will not become a slave to the insulin money maker. I’m sure there are people who would disagree with this concept, but I have proven that it works with my patients. The scariest thing about high blood sugar is the effect it has on muscles particularly the heart muscle. It is saying that your system is too acidic which causes your organs to swell and malfunction. High blood sugar (Glucose) is very inflammatory in your arteries. So is insulin. Together they’re a deadly combination. For 75% of all the diabetics, heart attack will be the cause

of death. This also includes those on diabetic drugs who are following the doctor’s orders to the “T”. Elevated levels of insulin and high glucose are like a wildfire in your arteries burning the delicate walls of the blood vessels until they are raw and diseased. This extreme inflammatory response then triggers the formation of plaque to cover the burns in the arteries. We know that the more plaque in the arteries, the greater the risk of a heart attack. Eating the proper foods and keeping the pH in balance is very important to your body functions. Think about this. Every time you put any food that has white refined sugar in it, you are adding to your acid level. Even fruit, which has sucrose in it, is also adding to those levels of acid. However , the majority of vegetables are very alkaline that would help to balance the acids. So it is a matter of eating a variety of both that helps keep you blood at a normal pH level. If you have been diagnosed as being a diabetic, consider eating more vegetables and cutting out the sodas and sugars and certainly not diet sodas. If you want to consider how to do all of this, call me at 937434-8066.

Spring on the Mountain with Ruby by Cynthia M. Brown

It is March. Peach Mountain is bursting forth in the newness of the season. As the days begin to lengthen, I find myself spending more time outside. I walk my dog Ruby along the trails and look for Lady Slippers and trillium. The frog pond is teeming with lily pads and frog eggs float in protective sacs waiting for the millions of tadpoles to hatch. I am amazed at how my city born dog has gone country. She sits outside on her porch surveying the grounds. She turns her head up when the woodpeckers begin their work and follows the sounds, searching for movement to tell her who or what is making that sound. She watches the deer graze, her nose very busy trying to make sense of their smell. Her catalog of smell in the city was dog, cat, the occasional raccoon, squirrels and birds. Here there are birds of many varieties: wild turkey, geese, ducks and all manner of song birds. She has pondered on the trail long and hard about bobcat scat and the occasional print from them as well. At night the coyote calls keep her racing to the window. In the early morning mist when we walk,

24

she spends a great deal of time cruising the ravine ridge, checking out who or what visited the night before. Spring also brings storm season. When I really wonder about my newly countrified dog, thunder and lightening send her onto my lap in a ball of nervous shaking and whining. I am always relieved to know that this really is the same dog I brought out here last October. The beauty of the spring storm on the mountain is breathtaking. The sky turns many shades of blue, gray and purple, a light show shaded by the veil of the sky. The rain comes down so hard that the creek floods up into the lawn creating great shallow lakes that flow into the waterfalls which grow to four feet in width and rush along at a dangerous pace toward the steep ravine edges and then down into the deep hollows. Water runs along the pathways and stairs making walking treacherous. The sharp pelting of rain on tin roves and the duller smack of rain on the ground are the drumbeat of my sleep all spring.

Apr / May 2012

As much as Ruby hates the storms, she loves the water when the sun returns. She rolls in the shallow lakes on the lawn. She wades through the swollen creeks, stomping her paws, creating enough of a splash to hit me with the droplets. She is quite taken with the small pond in the meadow and sits watching the water for long periods of time. She has even waded in, up to her belly. When I don’t follow, she wades back out and sits down to ponder the water some more. The grounds turn from amber and gray to deep brown and then luscious green. Ruby loves to chew the grasses that come up after a rain. She races around the grounds with the sticks discarded by the aging trees during the storm—a veritable treasure trove of playthings. It is spring on the mountain. New life begins. The fields are drying out for tilling. The grasses begin to grow and turn green. The birds trump the season and sing as they build nests for their own new life cycle. Ruby and I have the great pleasure and joy of front row seats in this nature show. It is a good place to be and it is a good time to be. We are blessed with life and the wonder of it. May you find beauty and joy in your own lives this new season. About the Author: Cynthia M. “Wild Blackberry Trails” When I was 15 years old, I lived on a horse farm. I was fortunate enough that my Father worked long hours his whole life to enable me to experience wonderful hobbies like having my own horse. I rode my horse nearly every day on beautiful trails in the countryside not far from my home. I was not permitted to ride alone, but being somewhat of a wild child with an adventurous spirit, I often jumped on my horse and would travel to the woods. One afternoon I decided to head out alone with my favorite horse, Molly. She was a beautiful Morgan horse. She was dark brown with a blonde mane and she rode like the wind. She loved going on the trails as much as I did, I had a common bond with this horse as she would not let anyone else ride her, she was so special to me, she was

26

That day, I carelessly jumped on without a saddle, I rode bareback a lot, so it was not unusual for me. As we approached the familiar trails, I remember starting to pass the wild blackberry bushes that were weighted down by huge berries. Molly would slow down on purpose because she loved them as much as I did. We stopped and both of us had our fill of the sweetest berries you could imagine picked right off the vines. My hands were stained purple and Molly had a purple mouth as well, I smiled and thought for a second, how will I explain this, but quickly started galloping away without a care to the world with the gentle breezes blowing through her blonde locks of hair as well as my own. We saw many forms of nature and wildlife that day, from butterflies to an occasional ground hog grazing from a distance. It was like heaven on earth as every wildflower seemed to be in full bloom and all the lush green from the forest floor was on display. I remember smelling the sweetness of the meadow in the fields and listening to the steady sound of the thundering of her hooves beneath me as we picked up speed running as fast as she could go. We were going along at steady pace when suddenly I slipped as she made the same turn she always had, I lost my grip of the reins and fell somehow right in front of her left front hoof. I saw the bottom of her hoof heading straight for my face and in a split second, she moved her leg at such an awkward way to avoid my head that she nearly fell over. She stumbled but quickly rose to her feet and walked over to me staring down at me. I was in total shock and needless to say I was stunned at what just happened. I could not move as I was in pain from the fall and was really hoping I could get

back up. She stood there patiently with me, which seemed like hours until I could get myself up. I finally emerged and managed to get up on her back in total amazement and gratitude for her that I did not have a crushed skull, I thought all the way back home how lucky I was to be alive. For that one split second literally staring at death in the face, I had been saved from what seemed to be a disastrous situation. Could it have been divine intervention? an angel watching over me? A special bond of love and devotion between an animal and a human? Maybe it was all three.

Astrology by Mary

Aries March 20 – April 19

a

Cancer June 22-July 22

Aries, the spotlight is on you, and for early births there is a very strong need for change. Your career, and possibly the marriage will be shifting. You have been releasing situations for some time, but mid April will begin to take those exciting steps forward. You will be checking the pocket book carefully, and with careful planning and willingness to spend time on the numerous details, it will all begin to pay off.

A sudden surprise or change in the career area could start this period. Unsettling of course, but the new moon on April 21 will help you find comfort with friends and new plans. The possibility of concern over relatives, (maybe siblings) will show up in May, along with Venus retrograde underscoring this effect. For early Cancers, your spiritual and artistic gifts will be enhanced, so rely on your spirit guides for support.

_

b

Taurus April 19 – May 20

Leo July 22 – August 22

You are very fortunate to have Jupiter, the planet of luck, opportunities and good fortune in your sign. The need for change has been nagging you in the background, and now the time has come to go ahead, so look for the new moon on April 21 to get you in motion. Your ruling planet, Venus, will be retrograde for this period, so take the time to review your finances very carefully. And yes, you can change your mind!

You have really been spending a lot of time checking your financial picture, and now your effort will begin paying off. It won’t seem so much a chore, as it will be an added skill in your resume! Jupiter and the new moon on April 21 will reward your career efforts, as well as your guiding hand as a parent. Get ready for some major new shifts in group endeavors, friends, and/or teaching positions with the eclipse coming on May 21.

`

c

Gemini May 20 – June 21

Your outer world (career, status in life, and family) are all in major shifts, and for early Gemini, there could be the loss of parent or position. However, it is time for change, and the solar eclipse on May 21 will register this. Also your financial issues, (or security needs) have been rumbling in the subconscious and are now demanding attention. You have tremendous mental energy, so use this talent to draw up a new road map!

28

Virgo August 22 – September 22

You may feel as though there is an overload of work and/or of bad luck. But by mid April, this will shift, and there will be opportunities coming to give you a new outlook. Some of that could be even money from family, for or about home. Also there are strong possibilities for new romantic situations showing up, especially from persons who recognize your worth and want to support you. Some of you will have grandchildren.

d

Libra September 22 – October 23

Of great significance for you is that your ruling planet, Venus, goes retrograde in Gemini, in mid May. This could register as a turning point for relatives at a distance. Also on the plus side, could bring a new learning experience to you. The solar eclipse on May 21 will have an impact here. Health and/or work conditions continue to affect you very strongly, and for some, an illness which is a bit difficult to diagnose may appear. Your emotions can affect your health.

e Scorpio

October 23 – November 21

For early Scorpios, you have felt the proverbial “monkey on your back”. Just a little longer and it will all improve. Mars, one of your rulers, will assist by bringing in more information, and also Jupiter, planet of good fortune, looms up in the house of partners, so there could be “Greeks bearing gifts” when it all boils down. There will be a great deal of information about or because of joint funds and monies, so do pay attention to all the little details.

f

Sagittarius November 22–December 21

Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is bringing more work and more money into your labor area. The new moon on April 21 will join this effort, and this will benefit your career. Mars in your career area has brought in more detail than you like, but mid April, the reasons will all come to light. Some of you might realize that a parent is failing, or that you need to leave the home. There will be lots of activity in the relationship area of the chart, so pay attention, especially to the details.

g

Capricorn December 21 – January 19

You have been aware of how much control and/or leadership you take on, and are sifting through the possibility of balancing this effort. There will be some genuine pleasure surfacing in the next few months, and the new moon on April 21 will help in that regard. In May, the solar eclipse and the Venus retrograde will

Infinity

create a shift in the work and/or health pattern, bringing in new information. Don’t allow yourself to get too strung out trying to control it all.

h

Aquarius January 19 – February 18

Some excitement is brewing in regards to new learning, reading or writing! You may have been doing some research, and that is leading to lots of new ideas. There is definitely a possibility of romance or recreation showing up in both months. However, the Venus retrograde just says “take it slow”. Some new efforts at home will help you to relax and “smell the roses”. Keep an eye on the checkbook!

i

Pisces February 18 – March 20

Early Pisces are affected by Neptune , which can bring inspiration on one hand, and sorrow on the other. Sometimes both will occur. There could be surprises in the pocket book area, and possibly may be because of a relationship. The new moon in mid April registers as affecting a relative, and the eclipse in mid May will highlight the home – lots of movement here. Make the effort to outline what you want in the future.
