World Peace Day September 21, 2021 “All we are saying is give peace a chance” – John Lennon September 21, 2021 is World Peace Day. What will you do for peace? A good start is to create inner peace. Go to a yoga class, meditation or take a hike into the woods. Go for a walk in a nearby nature trail or find a peace labyrinth. Smile and greet a neighbor or a new face. Create a peace garden to reflect the essence of what peace means to you. Renew or mend a former friendship. Volunteer in the community, give loving support to a senior citizen who lives alone, visit a local shelter and spend time with homeless animals. Write a poem or a song about peace. It is a good idea to print out peace quotes and post them in places that will remind you to always keep the peace. Start or join a peace project. Attend or start an Earthdance celebration. (see www.earthdance.org) Offer someone help or food. Call an old relative or friend to see how they are. Read about a peacemaker, and consider how they have changed the world for the better. Stand in a moment of silence at 12 noon, on International Peace Day (September 21st) Send peaceful healing thoughts to the Universe, and let us pray for peace, one day at a time, the time is now and more important than ever for us to spread the word for peace. May all your days be blessed and graced with peace. Please check out the back page for the Prayer for Peace and receive a special blessing.

TLongboat imeless Journeys with Sage Key, Florida by Kimberly “Sage” Pridemore Welcome to Infinity Magazine’s exciting adventure feature, “Timeless Journeys with Sage.” Sage has been with the Infinity team for several years, her wisdom, knowledge and experience makes her a perfect fit as Infinity’s Travel Editor for this special feature. Each issue will be a wonderful adventure with Sage as she travels to amazing destinations. Sage will share her travels with helpful tips, interesting facts about her fun filled and relaxing get-aways! Longboat Key – Girl’s Trip I was so excited to step onto a plane in March of 2021; it was the first time since December 2019. My girlfriend, Michelle (MiMi) and I were on our way down to her Florida vacation condo. I’d never been to Longboat Key and was super pumped to spend

4

a week at the beach to kick off my 60th birthday month. I’ve spent a great deal of time in Miami and South Beach over the years and truly love Florida. Long Boat Key is located south/southwest of the hustle and bustle of metropolitan Tampa and St. Petersburg. LBK maintains the laid-back attitude of a tropical paradise, for which Florida is famous. The quaint beach town is loaded with plenty of recreational activities, shops and beachfront restaurants. Some of my favorite activities include kayaking and canoeing. These are two engaging ways to explore the natural, untouched beauty of the Floridan landscape. The maze of mangrove tunnels is a fun place to navigate and see the ecosystem of native birds and plants. There are also guided kayak tours at sunset and night, along with dolphin and manatee tours.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

Of course, there is snorkeling and shelling, as well as fishing and parasailing. It’s an ideal destination for a family vacation! Michelle and I opted for a more low-key trip, which consisted largely of morning beach walks and sunbathing. For those that like learning more about marine life, the Mote Marine Laboratory and Aquarium is a great place to visit. Shark enthusiasts will be in heaven among the lab’s extensive shark research, which is the only one of its kind recognized by the U.S. Congress. Over 100 species of marine life are showcased. For us, this trip was more about kicking back and relaxing, enjoying beachfront restaurants and shopping. Our plan was to eat as much fresh fish as possible - and believe me, we did! One of my favorite places for lunch is Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant and Pub. Mar Vista is considered to be one of the 12 oldest surviving structures on Longboat Key, circa 1912. We enjoyed a table outside on the beach and kicked off our shoes. With our toes in the sand, we shared Crispy Oyster Rockefeller, a Summer Farm Salad with mixed baby greens and fresh mozzarella, along with a grilled Florida Grouper. It was all delicious. A bottle of cold, crisp chardonnay complemented our afternoon meal. Great conversation and boat watching also helped make the day near perfect! Now, I am one of those girls who celebrates her birthday the entire month. Pretty much everyone in my circle knows this. To me, the trip was a kick off to my month full of celebration! Year sixty was going to be a big one. Michelle treated me to a spa day at the Ritz-Carlton in Sarasota. Sarasota is located twelve miles away and a wonderful place for shopping. The spa at the Ritz is amazing. We both received a signature massage and had access to the Healing Waters whirlpool, dry sauna and steam room. With nowhere to be, we immersed ourselves in relaxation and rejuvenation. Talk about a Zen moment! What I loved most about this girls’ trip is that

Infinity

we had no agenda. We slept in and napped. We read books and did some work. We enjoyed our downtime and let things unfold organically. Michelle’s sister, Pam, lives in Bradenton which is about 15 minutes from LBK. She invited us over for a day of painting and lunch. She prepared fresh Thai spring rolls with peanut sauce and a lovely avocado salad. After such an excellent lunch we headed to her art studio. Her garage is set up like an art studio for acrylic pouring. I’d never done this before, so for me, it was a work in progress. If you’ve never done it, you should check it out, because it’s pretty cool. Pouring is a fluid painting technique used to create art by pouring acrylic paint onto canvas. This allows artists to apply color in puddles, pools and marble-like patterns. I had a blast learning the technique and creating two different art pieces. I swear, I see mermaids in each one! A girls’ getaway is never complete without some shopping. Both of us love consignment stores along with arts and crafts festivals. Every Wednesday and Friday, Coquina Beach in LBK has a beach market. You’ll find local artists, arts and crafts, jewelry, fresh produce, baked goods, gourmet foods, spices and teas, local honey, pottery, purses, collectibles, photography, woodworking, health and beauty items, unique gifts and even more. This is the ideal place to find that perfect Florida souvenir. I bought the cutest fairy earrings, two birthday crowns with rose quartz and lapis! Everyone needs a birthday crown and fairy earrings! I highly recommend Longboat Key for not only a girls’ getaway, but for a family vacation. It’s adorable and low key but with plenty of activities for everyone. The Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport is only seventeen miles away. Rent a car and head to the beach! There are quite a few nice hotels to stay at in Longboat Boat Key and many options with vacation rentals as well. The northern (Continued on pg. 6)

and middle portions of the island are full of cozy beach cottages and inviting beachfront rentals. High season is January-March. You’re often better off visiting April-May or September-October when prices are lower and the weather is beautiful. But for me, I will go there anytime I can! My Zen moments were, of course, at our spa day, but also the evening sunsets over the ocean. It’s tradition that everyone comes out to the beach with a drink in hand to celebrate another day watching the gorgeous sun set on the ocean’s horizon. This is pure paradise! At its best, religion is a relationship with The Divine, but problems occur when rules take precedent over our relationship. When that happens we discover guilt, shame, judgment, and other base emotions can distract us from our main focus. We can have both a religious belief and a relationship, but if religion interferes with relationship, then the relationship must come first. True morality means we do the right thing regardless of what we are told even if the one doing the telling claims to have divine insight into our personal lives. Without discerning for ourselves if what we are told is right, and without trusting the divine guidance within our hearts, blind obedience can lead us astray. When we get caught up in the beliefs of a religion or the teachings of a religious leader regardless of what our hearts tell us, then we risk losing the path of Love and Light. I have lived under both paradigms, and I know having a relationship takes more effort, more courage, and more love. I also know that simply doing what I’m told, following the leader, and not making waves is a simpler way to live, but for me, it was not as fulfilling as taking responsibility for my own relationship. We can have religion and a relationship, but when religion would take us in the wrong direction, it is our relationship with The Divine, or our spirituality, that will keep us from following the Pied Piper to our doom.

Our Soul Speaks

by Cynthia White Flower

In the midst of summer’s twilight, there is a stillness, a quietude, that will allow your soul to speak. What does she say? Can you hear her? Does she want to inspire you to move on to a place of inner renewal? Now is the time. “Now” is the gift that we are given. To focus on this precious opportunity is to open our doors to more. This is the moment of peace, in between the inbreath and the out-breath. It is filled with confidence that there is more to come! It is based in faith that you will be sustained. What will you do with this precious gift? Our soul expects us to sustain our divinity and to grow. Seeking that which inspires feeds us with the

promise of tomorrow and fulfills the moment of now. Summer’s flowers speak to our souls. The rose says that life is good and fills us with the fragrance of perfect beauty. This is to remind us of how beautiful we are, made by The Creator, in the image and likeness of that which is divine! The rose nudges us to realize our royal heritage, to act from a place of noble consciousness, to hold the space for higher realization. In this place, the soul is inspired. The daisy declares that we have a place of purity within our being, that remains pristine and steady in the midst of summer’s joyous ruckus. We are encouraged to remember Purity’s flame, to call upon it by igniting the Christos within. For us to

exist, The Creator exists within us and gives us life. To call upon our God Presence is to acknowledge our purity of being. To meditate in Purity’s flame takes us to a higher stage of consciousness. In this place, the soul rejoices! The beautiful purple coneflower says that transcendence is the key. We can forgive ourselves. It is best to do so. We can forgive others. If we do not forgive, we waste our gift of ‘the now’ by living in the past. Our soul needs us to release that which no longer serves us. Freedom’s forgiving violet flame waits for us to call upon it. It is magical, as is transforms darkness into light. It lightens our load and gives us more space to be. As we transcend into our rightful place of the light, our soul breathes a sigh of relief. The quiet summer refrain allows us the break that we need to simply listen. As the day hum’s its merry tunes, we feel the joy of nature’s peaceful interactions with all that is, working in harmony. We are reminded that we can be a part of that harmony. The ancient holy one’s encouraged us to listen with our hearts. Our hearts secure the inner knowing and cannot be denied. The heart quietly and powerfully filters the truth. Listen with your heart and let your inner wisdom guide you to a new path of discovery!

BTestimonial aker Chiropractic Dr. Baker & The Cortright Family

After much speculation and debate, I decided to succumb to the circumstances and pay Dr. Baker a visit. My newborn daughter, Kendall, had severe feeding issues in that she would spit up most of what she ate at every feeding. In the hospital she would gag and gasp for air it was so severe. I was told that she was having these issues because she was born in less than 40 minutes and it was too quick for fluids to leave her system naturally through the birthing process, and that it would soon cease. After nearly one month of this happening I took her to the pediatrician who diagnosed her with severe acid reflux and prescribed medicine. Administering this medicine (for the short time in which I did) was the cruelest thing I have done to any of my children. Although it did seem as if it helped slightly with her gagging and the reflux, the medicine itself was so potent that it would burn my eyes upon smelling it. When I (attempted) to give it to her she would gag, hold her breath and spit it right back at me, and her eyes would water also. After only a few doses, I didn’t feel like the side effects of the medicine were worth the benefits, and that there had to be a better alternative. It was then that I was recommended to see Doc. The more I thought about Kendall’s upcoming chiropractic experience, I began to think of other concerns I had. She was always holding her head to one side, and never seemed to develop neck muscles and head control as my other children had at her age. I wasn’t quite sure if this was a cause for worry, but it was definitely something

10

that I wanted to address. Our initial meeting with Doc was comforting, informative, and assuring. He addressed all of my questions, and assured me that this was my first step toward living a happier, healthier life for Kendall, myself, and the rest of my family. I was informed that Kendall had a case of Torticollis, and that with adjustments I would see great improvement. So I entrusted Dr. Baker, a father of small children himself, with one of my precious gifts from God and put her health and her future in his hands. For her first adjustment my initial nervousness quickly subsided as I witnessed something amazing. He held her softly between his hands and did his work, and as he did so, she smiled at him and cooed softly putting me to ease. She thoroughly enjoyed what she was experiencing and there seemed to be a weight lifted off my shoulders. Later that night Kendall was in great spirits, and seemed to be less fussy that usual. She was also holding her head up slightly better than usual. I initially played this off as coincidence until our return visits with Doc. The next time we went, I decided to get adjusted – after all, I had chronic back problems from a wreck and my 50lb+ weight gain from all of my pregnancies had not helped! I walked out of his office feeling like a new person. Instead of walking around and living with a constant ache, I felt something that could not be expressed in words – I literally felt nothing. Kendall and I visited Doc on a regular basis and after just a few visits Kendall’s acid reflux had seen a tremendous improvement, and she was holding her head upright as if there had never been a problem. But, most importantly for the both of us, she began sleeping for more than three hours in a row! My other children have also begun reaping the benefits of chiropractic. My youngest son Kayden, who is two, saw Doc for the first time after an accident in which he received several staples in his head. Doc initially adjusted his neck, but after gaining Kayden’s comfort and confidence, he adjusted his back as well. On several occasions Kayden has asked for “Doc to fix neck”, and we went to see him!! He even knows the routine and sits patiently in his chair, hands in his lap, for his turn,

yet, we all unite under one common ground, the relief we seek from visiting with Dr. Baker. I have suggested to several family members and friends the benefits they too could achieve. I would never force or insist chiropractic care upon anyone. I would however, ask that anyone and everyone simply try it one time, and let it speak for itself. They too, would be a life-long patient of Baker Family Chiropractic!

and then runs to the table and positions himself accordingly for his back adjustments. My five-yearold daughter and son both have been adjusted and they too, have asked on several occasions to see Doc when they were not feeling well. My husband is a landscaper and does snow removal and is constantly on his feet, and constantly saying how badly his back feels. After just one visit he felt tremendously better, and will be returning especially with the grueling winter months ahead of him!

Nature Heals Best by Jill Mattson

Nature Heals Best from The Way of the Wizard The priestess in the Druidic tradition runs her fingers along the rough bark of the ancient Oak Tree, inhaling its ever-so-slight fragrance. Closing her eyes and concentrating on the tree’s smell, she becomes part of this same landscape in her mind. Connected to the oak, time vanishes for the lady... Soft moonlight shines through the leaves as the white orb reveals its glow underneath the misty clouds. In her mind’s eye, the priestess watches a small herd of deer slip from the woods and stop in front of the giant oak tree; silently they stare at her. They are her brothers and sisters. She joins them in her mind. She lifts her skirt to freely run into the woods, singing and laughing all of the way. The Druids valued nature above all else - it was the

12

embodiment of the One Spirit. We all know the grounding, centering, and calming influence we get after spending time with nature. The ancient Druids took advantage of this influence in incredible ways. They studied and worked with pure subtle energies from nature to receive healing, wisdom, and answers in their daily lives. Their path to the Divine was based on recognizing, honoring, and merging with Mother Nature. Druidic priests and priestesses honored their imagination, believing it to be a powerful tool to transport their consciousness and open doors to other realms. Stop for a moment and look at your imagination with wonder. You can really do anything in your mind. Is this not incredible? The first step in any manifesting is to create a mental image of what you want to create. The Druids would have scoffed

Summer’s Twilight 2021

at the idea that imagination was only child’s play. To lose wonder at the imagination was to lose one’s own power.

There was an exalted feeling that radiated in a special location. The Druids created bridges to places that felt healing and uplifting.

Prayer, intent, chants, meditations, and dreams carry energy. These techniques were combined to purposely birth conditions that they wanted in their lives. Careful observation of “what things felt like” enabled them to gather the necessary energy to create the conditions that they desired.

In other examples, to perform healing, the Druids would sometimes connect to a giant oak tree - as the tree’s immunity is different from ours. A tree doesn’t get a cold or the flu. Sharing the tree’s energy bestowed some qualities, such as immunity against a cold. The priests and priestesses blended with a pack of wolves. They gained the wolves’ fierceness to block enemies who wished to hurt them. The priests and priestesses could see the world from the eyes of an eagle who enjoyed the big panoramic view and rose above life’s daily dramas.

Druids harnessed nature’s energy in surprising ways. Blending with an aspect of nature, such as a storm, would entail internally copying the storm’s energy or “feelings.” Once that connection was strong, the Druid wizard created a powerful sense of calm and then transferred this stillness to the storm. The Druid was not separate from the storm. Druids constantly connected to nature and exchanged energies. For example, a rose is beautiful and carries the energy of beauty. A shared flower imparts beauty to another - both physical and energetic beauty. In another example of how the Druids worked with nature, they imaged the forest through the trees’ awareness. How did they do this? They concentrated on becoming a tree... they selected a tree that seemed to call to them and then stood near it. They focused on feeling the roots gripping the moist soil; then the strong trunk ...slowly moving up their consciousness to the highest branches. They spoke with that tree in a language made up of feelings and the energy of emotions. They did this so often that they acquired an awareness of the being of a tree. And the connection to the entire forest became very close. As they learned the woods on a deeper level, they experienced the animals that lived there intimately. The Druids practiced becoming one with nature all their lives. The depth of understanding and knowledge that they attained is hard to appreciate - they truly became one with the natural world around them. Using their imagination as a powerful tool, the Druid paid attention to little places deep within the forest that felt better than others. They believed that the higher energy in a particular tiny spot radiated from a higher dimension. The veils were thinner here! Physics is today teaching us that there are other dimensions, realities, and possibilities. To the Druids, this was true and real - attainable. The worlds of elves, faeries, and others … were real. You found their doorways by closely paying attention to how you felt at unique locations.

Shapeshifting was the name given for combining different species’ energies, blending us together. With practice, by remembering the incredible power of our imagination, we can once again join with other animals - even plants. Cand onnecting with Inner Wisdom Peace During Family Activities by Jody Johnston Pawel, LSW, CFLE When you think about connecting to your soul and inner wisdom, do you automatically imagine being in a still, quiet setting? If you are a parent, is your next thought that getting such stillness and quiet is impossible with children around? When you have children, it might be a rare occurrence to be alone, in quiet stillness, but it doesn’t mean you can’t connect with your soul or inner wisdom. Just as there are sitting meditations and walking or movement meditations, you can go through your daily family activities while simultaneously staying mindful of your breathing and inner being, getting or staying centered and grounded. As the saying goes, “Wherever you go, you take yourself with you,” so you don’t have to always be in a calm, still, quiet setting to get or stay centered and ground, to find inner peace or wisdom, or to hear your soul speak wisdom to guide you. With practice, you can make those connections anytime, anywhere. That’s what my husband and I did this past weekend. We are empty nesters, so we have more stillness and quiet than we sometimes want, missing the energy and activity of family life. On the final weekend before school began, we had our first overnight stay since the pandemic with our eight-year-old granddaughter and the first overnight ever for our two-year-old grandson. We were so impressed with how smooth everything went and just how good the kids were, yet it was more emotional energy and physical activity than we usually pack into a day or two. Nevertheless, we were able to flow through whatever ripples and bumps we encountered with relatively little upset. We flowed with unexpected events by modifying our plans and in a little over 24 hours we went to an outdoor play, slept well --- even sleeping in (rare

14

for a toddler!) --- and went to a park where we had a picnic, played on a new playground, and even had a fun creek adventure racing leaves through the rapids. Nothing was rushed or pushed. Since the children have been learning self-regulation skills, we didn’t have any full-blown tantrums or meltdowns. When they were hurt, or sad and missing their parents, we were able to breathe, stay centered and listen with our hearts. The weekend was a different path than we usually walk in our daily lives and while we were each happy for the time spent together, the children were ready to go home to the parents they love so deeply and to whom they are so attached. We created many wonderful memories together on this path of self-discovery, not knowing what we had in us until we needed those skills and reserves. The children learned how to self-regulate and go about daily life while their parents were away and we learned how to find our inner peace and wisdom, stay centered and grounded, even during a long weekend of fun family activities.

The Power of the Sunflower There are over 50 varieties of the beautiful sunflower, but do we know of all the wonderful benefits the seeds provide? Did you know that a 12 inch diameter sunflower can produce over 2000 seeds and is considered a very healthy snack? Sunflower seeds consists of several important nutrients for the body. Vitamin E, selenium, magnesium and even copper, makes sunflower seeds some of the best seeds to add to a diet. Enriched with protein and fiber, these little seeds can help with balancing blood sugar levels and are an excellent choice if watching your weight and would like to shed a few pounds. Protein is very essential for cell repair and regeneration, snacking on these little gems can help with overall functioning of the body. For an added bonus, sunflower seeds can provide energy as well. Sunflower seeds are loaded with good fats, which can help with blood pressure and cholesterol levels,

16

and may prevent heart diseases. If you suffer with insomnia, consuming sunflower seeds can help release stress and stimulate the mind to induce sleep. The unique combination of vitamins and minerals found in sunflower seeds create antioxidant properties that can prevent cellular damage in the body and can keep cancer at bay. Sunflower seeds contain compounds that help the brain with depression and anxiety. Choline is one compound that can help with overall memory as well. One way to improve the quality of your skin and hair, is to consume sunflower seeds on a daily basis because of the amazing amount of Vitamin E and zinc they contain. Vitamin E plays an important part in promoting a healthy scalp, healing the skin and preventing acne, resulting in a more youthful and bright complexion.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

When it comes to the amount of seeds to consume each day, it is crucial not to exceed 30 grams. The excess in vitamins and minerals would not prove helpful with body functions. If you have not had a handful of these tasty nuggets in awhile, try sunflowers seeds raw or roasted (lightly seasoned). Organic is best! A delicious alternative to peanut butter is sun butter, it is delicious! Organic sunflower oil is beneficial as well in cooking. Throw the seeds on a salad, or mix them in your favorite recipe! Sunflowers seeds are incredible and have to be one of the easiest snacks to consume on earth! Mother nature at its finest!

Note: To add to pasta, use 1 Tbs. of room temperature butter and 2 Tbs. of pesto to hot noodles and mix well. Top with shredded parmesan and cracked black pepper. Extra note: I am allergic to nuts and peanuts so I use this recipe so I can still enjoy pesto pasta. Bonus Note: Keep the basil stems. Heat olive oil on low to pin hole boiling and add stems. Turn oil off and cover for 1 to 2 hours. Remove basil leaves and you have basil infused olive oil. Enjoy. Cynthia

Heaven-Sent Birthday Greeting I was turning a year older in a couple of days, my family decided they would take me out for dinner and was asking what special thing I wanted to do on my birthday. I really did not want anyone to go to any trouble or fuss, but I was excited to get the family together where we would be all in one place celebrating the occasion. It was the morning of my birthday, as I awoke I was feeling a little bit older with stiff joints etc., but felt better as I began to get moving. I was anxious to get started with my day, when I got a call from my brother-in-law telling me my Mom had just been rushed to the hospital. My Mom had been suffering heart problems for years and had some serious close calls, after all being 83 years old, it was not easy to battle with heart disease. I arrived at the hospital and quickly inquired about the status of my Mother’s condition. She was in stable condition, I sat with her throughout the day, they had moved her on the cardiac floor for observation, my brothers and sister lived out of town, so I was calling most of the day to let them know her condition. My family still hoped to at least take me out later for

18

dinner since my Mom’s condition improved, but I did not want to leave my Mothers side, I told them I could always move birthday plans to another day. As I was sitting with my Mom, she awoke out of a deep sleep, she asked me what day it was. I told her it was Tuesday, she responded saying it is not just any Tuesday, it is your birthday. She fell back to sleep, day turned into night. I felt there was nothing else I could really do, and feeling rather tired, I told my Mom I would see her in the morning. I began to walk towards the parking lot to drive home. It was raining, in fact it really started to rain hard and the wind was blowing, I began to open the exit door of the hospital and knew I was in for a good soaking when at the corner of my eye a mylar balloon came out of nowhere being forced by the wind in my direction. I grabbed the ribbon because no matter how hard I tried I could not free it away from my face. I finally took a good look at it, it had a rainbow on it, then I could not believe what the large letters had read, “Happy Birthday!” What a surprise! The wind sailed the balloon towards the sky. I smiled in the pouring rain as I made my way to my car! – Ann C.

WIncludes orld Peace Day Our Animals Too! by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger The theme of this article is “Together for Peace, Respect, Safety and Dignity for all”. All of Earth’s animals must be included in this intention; they deserve to be treated with respect and dignity, they must be safe. It is our responsibility as the Stewards of our Earth to insure that they are safe and able to live in dignity and peace.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

Stewardship is rooted in respect for that which we are charged with overseeing. If we do not first respect the animals who not only live with us, but live around us in nature, then we do not see a need for them beyond their usefulness to us. If we do not see them as thinking, feeling beings with the same right to existence as ourselves, then we diminish them in our eyes. They become property to be used and disposed of as we see fit. The first step towards peace for all beings on earth indeed begins with respect. When I began to communicate with animals, and truly experienced their feelings, heard their thoughts, and saw the world through their eyes, I took the first steps towards respecting them. I began to really understand their brilliance as teachers, their compassion as healers, and their profound ability to love and to forgive. I have always loved animals, and felt that I treated them with kindness and fairness. There was always a distance, a “me” and “them” that prevented me from really connecting with them. Once I learned how to connect, and they allowed me to experience them more fully, that distance began to shrink. The other barrier that I think we humans have that prevents us from fully connecting with each other, with animals, and with Nature in general is our minds. The human mind has this uncanny ability to be focused on the future or the past, we very seldom allow ourselves to be present NOW. Animals are actually the opposite. They tend to be fully present in the NOW most of the time. Occasionally an animal might be triggered by something in their past and react to it, but most of the time they are reacting to the current moment. That allows them to fully experience the present, to be immersed in it. If they are rolling in the grass, they are really having that experience with all of their senses - they aren’t thinking about what is going to happen when they are done doing it. When an animal is fully present with you, and you are fully present with them at the same moment, it is like time ceases to exist, everything except that connection ceases to exist It is an amazing experience. The complete connection with an animal is the closest many of us come to experiencing utter peace. I believe that the reason is that when we truly

Infinity

connect with them, the Divine in each of us is part of that connection. We are, in a way, experiencing the Divine presence together in that moment. Animals are so willing to do this with us, if we will just be present with them for a short time, and are willing to open our hearts to the connection. We can also have this experience with animals in Nature, or even with Nature itself… for the same reason. We are present enough and open enough to experience the Divine in that moment. I have had this happen while walking or sitting in Nature - in Sedona on Bell’s Rock, at the Cincinnati Nature Center, in the Smoky Mountains. The common ingredient was an immense respect for, and openness to, what was around me in the present moment. I wasn’t thinking about what I had to do at work the next day, or whether I had to mow the grass when I got home. I allowed myself to open and fully experience what was around me at that moment - the sky, the wind, the ground beneath my feet, the birds in the trees above me, the squirrel in the brush next to me. I opened all my senses, both physical and non-physical, and allowed myself to feel appreciation for it all. That appreciation allowed me to fully connect, and to feel the utter peace. In honor of World Peace Day on September 21st, consider taking a few moments to be fully present in respect and love with each member of your family - including your animals. Be willing to allow that connection, and see what happens. Happy World Peace Day!

EDeep dgar Cayce’s Meditation Method by John Van Auken

Of all the meditation techniques I’ve learned and practiced over these many years, none has been as effective as Edgar Cayce’s passage-in-consciousness technique. Our free online meditation course has diagrams of some of the steps, and links to those pages are included. With a little practice we can deeply attune ourselves to God and retain that essence, energy, and vibration in our daily lives. Here is a step-by-step guide for making passage in consciousness to God-consciousness: 1. Select a place and set aside a time for the practice. Go to that place and time daily. Allot a minimum of 30 minutes, preferably an hour. 2. Begin with stretching exercises. Stretch by

20

reaching up high with your arms and hands while on your tiptoes. Alternate reaching to the ceiling with one hand then the other, like a cat stretching on a carpet. After a few of these stretches, bend over and touch your toes, stretching your joints, limbs, and spinal column. Continue the alternating motion with these toe-touching stretches. Now, do the Cayce head-and-neck exercise: The key is to feel the stretching all the way down your spine. 3. Now, do Cayce’s breathing exercise: While inhaling through the left nostril and exhaling through the right, you should feel uplifting and opening of the spiritual forces of the body. It’s good to have fresh air in the room while doing this breathing exercise, to bring more oxygen into the circulatory system and brain.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

4. Now, get in a relaxed position that you can maintain for the whole session. If you decide to lie down, you must cover your solar plexus with your hands (this is Cayce’s instruction in 440-8). If you decide to sit up, then you do not have to cover the solar plexus, just place your hands where they are most comfortable.

Then, shift from aggressive seeking to receptive openness to God’s will. Use an affirmation, such as: Not my will, but Thy will, be done in and through me. Feel God’s will, God’s Spirit, flowing into you. (Despite the thrill of it, you must try to subdue emotion—stillness and universalness are necessary for ideal attunement.)

5. From here on you will need your imaginative forces for the following: Remove your “earthly portions” (Cayce’s term) and personality from your body. With your mind’s eye, see your mental hands moving these earthly aspects out of your body to a place in front of your body. Hold them there. Your body feels lighter and open, ready for your soul to come forth.

9. Once your body, mind, and soul are fully imbued with this Life Force, abide silently there. Attempt to stay conscious but if sleep overtakes you, awaken slowly, sensing your deeper mind’s perceptions. At first, this may be difficult. Losing consciousness, like falling asleep, is a natural tendency. Eventually, you’ll be able to maintain consciousness. Your breathing is likely to become very shallow, almost not moving. Cayce says that there is magic in this silence. Allow that magic time to do its work.

6. Now, subjugate (Cayce’s term) control to your soul and subconscious mind. See, feel, and know that your soul and subconscious mind are taking control of the system. An indication that this is occurring is a shift in your breathing, toward deeper, steadier, slower breathing. 7. Once you feel the subjugation and deeper breathing, inspire your soul to ascend and expand into the mind and spirit of God, the Universal Consciousness and Infinite Spirit. Use a directing suggestion, such as: Arise my soul and enter into the presence of God, the Mind and Spirit of God; the infinite, universal consciousness of God. Imagine and feel yourself rising; feel the expansiveness and the buoyancy of the spirit of the Source of all life. Become universal and infinite. See it. Feel it. Know it is happening. 8. Draw your head back slightly and allow your soul to expand through dimensions of consciousness – upward and outwardly expanding into God’s infinite presence. Keep the “movement” upward and outwardly expanding until you feel yourself becoming a part of the whole of the universal consciousness, like a drop of water becoming aware of the ocean of water within which it exists. When you sense the infinite presence of God, connect with It. Plug into It. Hold on and maintain a connection with It. Attune yourself to the Infinite Oneness.

Infinity

10. When you sense that the session is concluding, gradually begin to make your way back into physical life, bringing with you the essence, energy, and vibrations of this attunement, this oneness with the Infinite. Feel yourself moving back into the body. Take a deep breath to aid you in drawing yourself back into the body. But bring the essence, energy, and vibes of the attunement. Take another breath and draw the higher self back into the body and this dimension of life. 11. Now, begin to balance the energies for proper functioning in physical life by equally distributing the energy throughout your body, not leaving supercharged energy in the upper portions (the head, neck, and shoulders). Imagine moving the energy to every portion of your body and mind—balanced, equally distributed. Cayce said that the internal organs of the body play a role in this balancing. Feel the energy in your lungs, liver, kidneys, intestines, glands, and skin. Let the energy now move from the brain to the other organs. This is an important step. Cayce suffered

physically when he did not do this re-balancing. Take time to do it well. 12. Now, let your daily actions, thoughts, and words reflect your attunement, not in a pious or better-than-thou manner, but in a natural, loving, cooperative manner. Simply practice the Fruits of the Spirit. These are: love, kindness, gentleness, patience, understanding, and so on. You’ll want to watch your dreams and intuitions. This practice will ignite dreaming. It will also generate intuitive glimpses from your deeper mind and the great collective mind that all souls are connected to. It’s a good idea to carry a small notepad in which you can record insights and ideas that come—because, your outer, conscious mind (if it’s anything like mine) will not be able to remember these. Like dreams, they are knowings of the deeper mind that creep through the veil to consciousness but are hard to hold onto. A notepad and dream journal help keep them in this dimension, this outer life. This technique does require some time. Cayce advised setting aside an hour for the practice. In the first year that I practiced this, it would take me about 30 minutes to see, feel, and know the first 9 steps; now it takes about 5 minutes, leaving the rest of the time to be in the universal, infinite condition. Re-balancing also used to take much longer than it does now. The more you practice, the more you develop your body, mind, and spirit to know and understand the finite condition and the infinite condition, and the transition from one to the other. The overall experience is quite natural and normal when balanced and integrated into our lives and the whole of our being. One can be here, projected into individualness; or there, expanded into universalness. After a while, even when in individualness you feel the universalness. It’s wonderful but much more natural and normal than I expected. Cayce always taught that that’s how it would be, saying that we were in the infinite, universal condition prior to incarnating. Therefore, returning to the other condition will not feel supernatural but natural and familiar.

22

This meditation method allows the “magic silence” to better imbue us with the vitality, peace, and clarity of God’s spirit and mind. It also brings out our better selves, which Cayce identified as one of the main goals of meditation: “let your better self come through.” Cayce’s readings often instructed us to let God come through us into this dimension and into the lives of people around us.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

The Twilight Approaches by Cynthia M. Brown

It is late summer. The earth is in a place of great abundance: fields are full of summer’s bounty and fall harvest is soon as well. Another year of the wheel will turn. For me this is a big year. It has been my first as a member of the tribe of the parentless. Both of my folks have left this earth and it is a very different place without their warmth and wisdom. Somehow, after my father died my mother, who was always the silent support in his loud, larger than life exuberance, filled the space and silence he left with a gentleness and grace that softened the blow of his loss. There has been no such solace with her death. Fall is here soon. This was her favorite time of year. She loved all the seasons but the brilliant riot of color as the earth prepared to slumber was her great joy. She loved the odor of the chrysanthemum, the sharp smell of leaves and the sounds they made from their flight from tree canopy to the crunch under foot. She loved the foods of fall and the family celebrations that came as the earth settled into its winter sleep. It was especially poignant to witness my mother in her final years. Her long battle with cancer, the drugs that saved her life, robbed her of her sight. Beanie, as I called her, was devastated at the prospect of being blind. In her youth, she had been her grandmother’s aide as she went blind. Beanie moved from a place of anger and disbelief to one of acceptance. As she relearned managing her world with diminished vision, she would say with great determination, “If grammy could do it, I can do it.” So she did; cooked and cared for herself and her family until the last three months of her life. I am almost 60 now. My sister who is dangerously close behind at 57, often reminds me that these are our sunset years. I never used to feel my age, but in recent years, my body has begun to speak loudly that I am getting older. I have always had vision issues. I am terribly near sighted; have depth perception issues, and because I inherited my father’s extremely light blue eyes, I am prone to macular degeneration, an inherited disorder, which afflicted him in his final years.

Infinity

Recently I have noticed a blurring of one eye. I am awaiting my visit with the doctor. I am not a medical professional but since the blurring is worse with my glasses, I suspect it is retinal in nature. So, I sit here, thinking of summer as it turns to fall ; my own summer in life turning to fall, the shortening of days and the ebbing of light, into darkness, and I wonder how, if I am losing my sight, I will approach it. I would love to believe I can muster my mother’s grace and quiet courage. I remember once, when I was much younger and I had an eye infection, that I decided not to just wear a patch over one eye, but I wore blinders on both and tried to get through a day at home sightless. I talked to my eye doctor at the time and he said, If I did lose my sight as I aged, it would be gradual, like a shade that slowly blocked out the light, day drifting to evening to twilight and then… shadows or even darkness. So, twilight approaches. It is a time to slow, reflect and grow still. I wonder how I will manage. As my Beanie once said, “ I have so much left to do…” When is it truly time to just stop doing and start being? Do we ever know? Does something inside click and then we just stop? I like to believe Beanie was pretty intuitive and she never quite stopped. She had periods when she would disconnect, not answer her phone or email. She would sit in her gardens and stroke and smell her flowers. She would slowly walk the long drive and the fenceline or slowly swim in her pool, not speaking or responding to anyone or anything. The pattern would continue sometimes days at a time and then, she was back in the kitchen, her red granny apron tightly tied at her waist, her thick glasses firmly planted on her nose, and a smile on her face as she helped bake cookies or fry chicken. I hope, as I wait for my doctor’s visit and to find out if this is the beginning of a true twilight for me, that I can learn that rhythm now and, even should I escape the darkening of my sight, I hope I can find ways to learn to savor the slowing and stopping, as Beanie did. I think that act brought her great peace and even greater joy when she chose to return to her life of doing.

Artist of Life, Drawing from Within by Patti Lightflower

Kintsugi is the art of joining a broken object, usually a ceramic, together with adhesive and gold powder. In this way, treasured pieces unfortunately damaged could be mended such that instead of being seen as decreased in value they became even more dear. Kintsugi literally means joined with gold. “The world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places.” ~ Ernest Hemingway Wabi Sabi translates to being alone in nature (wabi) and the beauty that can be found in the aging process of everything (sabi). Combined, there is an acceptance that stuff happens, things break, and everything fades and withers with time and use. In contrast, also found are paths for restoration and finding beauty and light in the cracks, scars and patina acquired only through wear and time.

“Success comes to those who can weather this storm while maintaining their principles.” ~I Ching Hexagram #3 – R. L. Wing Over the past year or so I’ve found myself attracted to Eastern arts, particularly Japanese arts. What so strongly has pulled me in is that with each craft, skill or technique, there is a meaningful philosophy behind it. Many crafts from around the world more often tend to have evolved simply out of need and perhaps carry a story of the inventor or oldest known piece of work. Japanese crafts, in addition to being functional and serving a purpose, teach along with techniques, a way to live and accept life. How to flow with nature. Below is a poem I wrote during a strong Uranus astrological transit in my twenties. It seems appropriate

Bio for Patti Lightflower: I have always enjoyed working with textiles. As a child I watched my grandmother turn colorful cotton feed bags into play clothes. I designed and made dresses for my dolls from scraps of fabric and shoes for them from orange peels, which I pretended were leather. I’ve attended art classes at the University of Cincinnati in the 70’s and have studied with textile artists at Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, as well as with many other professionals in their studios over the years. The topics are allencompassing, so while you may not be able to do all of them right now, beginning with a few will improve your overall health, as well as your sense of well-being. What to Do More of or Get More of to Optimize Your Health 1. Get eight hours of sleep every night. You’ve heard it since you were a kid but that eight hours of shut-eye is serious business. Believe it or not, adequate sleep can make you smarter, skinnier and happier; it helps you assimilate and deal with the ins and outs of life and process information on multiple levels. You end up consuming more calories when you don’t get enough sleep. Your memory suffers and your risk for depression increases because your brain hasn’t had enough time to sort out what is and isn’t important. Your risk of anxiety rises, and with it, coping mechanisms that often involve food. Even your immune system takes a hit. Protect your hours of sleep like you do your bank account. You’ll be richer for it. 2. Get adequate vitamin D and omega-3s, and test your levels. Deficiencies in these two essential nutrients are causing untold damage to the health of millions of Americans. In fact, 85 percent of Americans aren’t getting enough “D” to help fight bone loss, cognitive decline, rheumatoid arthritis and abnormal cell growth, which are just a few of the functions vitamin D helps with. To figure how much you need, have your levels tested and be sure they are maintained at between 40 and 60 ng/mL yearround. Regular sun exposure is your best source of vitamin D, but supplementation may also be necessary for some people. Omega-3s are polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs), which you need for healthy digestion, blood clotting, memory, muscle strength, vision, heart health and so much more. A deficiency is implicated in cognitive decline and may be a factor in 100,000 premature deaths each year. The Omega-3 Index Test1 can help you determine your level (ideally it should be above 8 percent) and is available

26

from several labs. Excellent sources of animal-based omega-3s include wild-caught Alaskan salmon, sardines, anchovies and krill oil. 3. Get moving. Sitting is a huge part of modern life. In fact, the national median of adults with little to no physical activity other than their jobs is 22.6 percent, according to the United Health Foundation.2 More than 10,000 studies attest to the fact that sitting is a big risk factor for not just illness but premature death. Walking just one hour a day, the equivalent of about 3 miles, will go a long way (pun intended) toward optimizing your health. You’ll gain greater stamina, more energy and even more confidence, along with cutting your risk for several types of disease. Ideally, aim for 10,000 steps a day and cut your sitting time to three hours or less daily. 4. Grow your own food. The best way to guarantee you’re eating truly healthy foods like vegetables, herbs and seeds is to produce them yourself. You may be surprised how easy it is to start with organic tomato, beet or lettuce seeds for growing food right at your fingertips. It’s very satisfying, plus you don’t have to worry about genetically engineered (GE) foods laced with harmful pesticides. 5. Get adequate sun exposure. Humans make thousands of units of vitamin D within minutes of whole-body exposure to sunlight,3 but, unfortunately, 9-to-5 jobs keep most people indoors. Regular sun exposure is important not only for adequate vitamin D production but also much more, including boosting your immune system, regulating your circadian rhythm, lowering high blood pressure, improving your mood and even lowering your risk of many cancers, including skin cancer.4 Safe exposure to sunshine is possible by understanding your skin type, the UV strength at the time of exposure and your duration of exposure. Always avoid getting burned, but do make sure you spend a sensible amount of time with your bare skin exposed regularly. What to Eat More of to Optimize Your Health 6. Eat more fiber.

Summer’s Twilight 2021

It may not make sense until you think about it, but when the foods you eat hang around in your system (aka colon) for too long, it begins accumulating toxins that can potentially end up causing colon cancer. The foods you eat provide needed nutrients for your body’s health, but then they need to move through and out of your system. That’s where fiber, especially from vegetables, nuts and seeds such as flax and chia seeds — not grains — come in handy. Fiber “sloughs” your intestinal walls to speed up movement. Drinking adequate water helps the process, as well. Fiber is not only beneficial for lowering your cancer risk but also reduces your risk of chronic disease like diabetes and heart disease. It’s even good for your lung function. How much fiber do you need? I believe about 50 grams per 1,000 calories consumed is ideal. 7. Eat more fish. As you may know, protein is essential for health. You only need to eat 10 percent to 35 percent of your daily calorie intake from protein, however, and many Americans consume much more than that. Trading out some of the beef you eat for fish is an excellent way to get adequate protein without getting too much, which can be worse than a deficiency. However larger fish are nearly always contaminated with mercury and other toxins. Exceptions would be wild-caught Alaskan salmon, sardines, anchovies and herring are cold-water fish that offer healthy fats, including omega-3s, without high levels of pollutants. Make sure the fish you eat is wild-caught, not farmed, low in mercury and other pollutants and responsibly harvested. Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) certification5 and Fishwise help eliminate guesswork on what’s healthy and sustainable. If opting for a supplement, krill oil offers many of the same benefits as eating fish, and even more benefits than fish oil. 8. Switch to American grass fed certified.

Exchange has a list of producers who sell organic and grass fed meats across the U.S. Also, check out RealMilk.com and the Cornucopia Institute’s egg report and dairy scorecard. 6 Certification by the American Grassfed Association is the highest assurance you can have that the food is authentically raised to the highest standards. In addition, support U.S. grass fed producers. 9. Make fermented foods. Fermented foods provide your body with beneficial microbes, counteract inflammation and control the growth of disease-causing bacteria. All you need is a Mason jar or two to get started. Your gut houses about 85 percent of your immune system, mainly because 100 trillion beneficial and pathogenic bacteria live there and play important roles in your body’s functions. When your GI tract is not properly balanced, a wide range of health problems can appear, including allergies and autoimmune diseases. Here’s a tutorial to start you on your way to better gut health. 10. Grow sprouts. If you haven’t heard about the incredible health benefits of eating sprouted broccoli, bean or sunflower sprouts, it might be helpful to learn that, compared to the considerable vitamins and antioxidants in full-grown vegetables, the micro version (i.e., sprouts) is like veggies on steroids. Sunflower seed and pea shoots are about 30 times more nutritious than organic vegetables. Best of all, growing your own is super easy, quick, cost effective and doesn’t require a lot of space. For instructions that will help you start on the fun and nutritious journey, be sure to read sprout-growing 101. What to Avoid or Reduce to Optimize Your Health 11. Avoid lectins.

That goes for milk and butter as well as meat, so when you buy these products you know, as studies have indicated, you’re getting optimal essential minerals and antioxidants, as well as fatty acid composition. Organic grass fed foods are also free of antibiotics and other drugs used in concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs).

Lectins are carbohydrate-binding proteins you find in many plant-based foods, such as wheat and other grains, beans and similar legumes, and nightshade veggies such as tomatoes and peppers. Many are proinflammatory and neurotoxic, and may increase blood viscosity, interfere with gene expression and disrupt endocrine function. That’s why dried beans must be carefully cooked, and never eat them raw. Sprouting and fermenting will also dramatically reduce the lectin content of foods.

Antibiotic-resistant disease has become a major public health hazard, so buying organic meats is should something you take into consideration. The Grassfed

In the U.S., 57 percent of youth between the ages of 6 and 19 years have dental fluorosis, a condition in which your tooth enamel becomes progressively discolored and mottled due to overexposure to fluoridated drinking water. Dental fluorosis is an outward sign that fluoride is damaging the body. A forethinking chemist asserted that water fluoridation was tantamount to committing “public murder” back in 1937, sadly confirmed with a sharp rise in cancer deaths implicating fluoride soon after the practice started. Choose non-fluoridated toothpaste and consider a fluoride-removing water filter. The three types of filters that can remove fluoride are reverse osmosis, deionizers (which use ion-exchange resins) and activated alumina. 13. Avoid containers.

microwaves,

especially

with

plastic

Depending on what product you’re using, your plastic might contain phthalates, a type of “gender-bending” chemical causing males of many species to become more female, along with many others. Microwaving food in a plastic container puts your food in contact with phthalates and other chemicals that have leached out during the heating process. Instead, use a glass container and cover your food with a paper towel, a coffee filter or a glass lid set on at a slight angle for steam to escape. Even better, banish your microwave altogether. Microwaves heat food by causing water molecules in it to resonate at very high frequencies and eventually turn to steam, which heats your food. While this can rapidly heat your food, it also causes a change in your food’s chemical structure and destroys many vital nutrients. 14. Limit your protein intake. Protein is essential for health because it helps build muscle, maintain healthy cells and regulate your metabolism, to name a few of its many functions, which is why it’s called the “building blocks of life.” But Americans consume the most meat per capita in the world — more than 175 pounds of pork, poultry and beef per year, which exceeds what is wise for optimal health. People whose protein consumption is 20 percent or more their total caloric intake have a 400 percent higher cancer rate, and a 75 percent higher risk of mortality. Protein is important, but balance is important, too. For optimal health, I believe most adults need about 1 gram

28

of protein per kilogram of lean body mass (not total body weight), or 0.5 grams of protein per pound of lean body mass. 15. Reduce EMFs. No doubt about it: Exposure to EMFs, or electromagnetic fields, is a given if you use a cellphone. One study showed that those who logged the most time on their cell phones were twice as likely to develop glioma compared to those who used them the least.7 Learning disabilities, altered brain metabolism and DNA damage are some of the hair-raising outcomes. Lower your exposure to all electronics whenever possible, but use particular care with your cellphone, portable phone, Wi-Fi router and modem. You can reduce your exposure by shutting off your Wi-Fi at night, keeping cellphones in airplane mode unless using them, using the speaker phone and using a selfie stick when talking on your cellphone. Things to Eliminate to Optimize Your Health It’s hard to eliminate things from modern-day life that are so ingrained into society that getting rid of certain unhealthy factors are not just inconvenient but impossible. But when you understand the toll hanging on to certain unhealthy things and how it can (and does) negatively impact your life, it often becomes more doable, and even imperative, such as the following: 16. Give up nicotine for life. You probably already know smoking causes cancer, and other forms of nicotine and tar are every bit as dangerous. But did you know it is one of the factors in the development of Alzheimer’s? In fact, one study showed smokers to have a 45 percent higher risk of developing dementia than nonsmokers.8 Show this study to your kids and grandkids. 17. Get rid of nonstick cookware. Here’s why: poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) used to create these surfaces are toxic, both in your body and in the environment. You may have noticed bits that come loose when you’re stirring, and realized they’re going into someone’s body, and toxic fumes, even if you can’t smell them, are, too. Instead, use ceramic or enameled cast iron pots, pans and skillets to do your cooking. 18. Consider getting rid of your mercury fillings. But maybe you should first consider what mercury fillings may be doing to wreck your health. The

Summer’s Twilight 2021

amalgam fillings put in place by dentists in the U.S. are 50 percent mercury, the vapors of which pass through cell membranes, across your blood-brain barrier and into your central nervous system. Studies show they cause serious psychological, neurological and immunological problems. You can have mercury fillings removed by a biological dentist and find more information here.

drugs and medical procedures. We’ve partnered with key organizations also dedicated to educating the public on important health issues, and even push for initiatives that will better public health and the environment while helping you improve your health, naturally.

19. Give up soda.

About the Author: Dr. Mercola finished his family practice residency in 1985 but was trained by the conventional model. In his first years of private practice, he treated many symptoms with prescription drugs and was actually a paid speaker for the drug companies. But as he began to experience the failures of this model in his practice, he embraced natural medicine and has had an opportunity over the last thirty years to apply these time tested approaches successfully with thousands of patients in his clinic.

Countless individuals are making strides toward a healthier lifestyle, but one of the smartest things you can do if you haven’t already is ditch soda. There’s a link between soda consumption and obesity, as well as liver damage, heart disease, diabetes and osteoporosis. Making the switch to water could be the most influential health decision you’ve ever made. Whatever you do, don’t start drinking diet soda, as it’s even worse. It’s linked to stroke, dementia, depression and neurological disorders due to the aspartame content, and it may make you gain weight instead of lose it. Be informed about what you’re really putting in your body. You won’t believe how much better you’ll feel. 20. Avoid sugar. Evidence suggests excess sugar is a foundational cause of diabetes, obesity and most chronic degenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s, not just an exacerbating factor. You can lower your risk of premature death simply by limiting your intake. Once you more fully appreciate the dangers of sugar, you may finally be more motivated to mostly eliminate it from your diet. It may be difficult in the beginning, but once you cut down on added sugars and other net carbs (total carbs minus fiber), which will allow your body to start burning fat as its primary fuel again, the sugar cravings will disappear and you will not have to struggle to abstain from junk foods any longer. Research stevia as an alternative.

Over 15 years ago he founded Mercola.com to share his experiences with others. The site is the most visited natural health site in the world for the last seven years with nearly two million subscribers. He’s also written two NY Times bestselling books, and has had frequent appearances on national media including the Dr. Oz show and major news channels. September 21, 2021 St. Francis Prayer of Peace Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is Hatred, let me sow Love. Where there is Injury, Pardon. Where there is Doubt, Faith. Where there is Despair, Hope. Where there is Darkness, Light, and Where there is Sadness, Joy.

O Divine Master, Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console; To be understood, as to understand; To be loved, as to love; For it is in giving that we receive, It is in pardoning that we are pardoned, And it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.
