L etter from the editor Dear Readers, In the midst of the fog, there is an ever growing presence that is unforeseen, but in likeness to the image of a dream unfolding. Step into your own reality, claim it and know it is the essence of your soul that speaks to you with a gentle rhythm of your beating heart. The path has been prepared for you as your ancestors have gone before. Their spirit is alive within your being threaded with every fiber of each cell. Cherished memories, love, compassion and kindness have been instilled in our people for centuries. We must bring it forward to heal all who are hurting and in need of the human touch. A human hand to connect and reestablish dignity, honor and respect throughout the world. Within this knowledge, we call upon the Universe to heal with great measure, as our children teach us the miracles and mysteries of life. Let us not lead with a blind eye or shoulder a judgment against another. Instead, walk with awareness and remain attuned to the direction of quiet solitude and joyful boundaries. Abandon all fear, know that this moment, it is your sacred space of time and place. We are all here to illuminate and shine our light showing the way to create true happiness and peace. Let troubled waters ebb and flow into the rivers of the unknown. The waters will wash away the debris of our fragmented pieces of life and we will feel whole once more. It is best to remain calm like the still waters. Observe with keen insight, find your inner peace. It is there, it is within the reflection of your own soul. Forgive others as we forgive ourselves. It is the process of forgiving we discover the gifts of gratitude and appreciation of all who venture and walk the path towards enlightenment. The generosity and kindness of ones nature shows the true spirit and acknowledgment that they are aligned to the divinity of all that is. Allow love and create an inner sanctuary of peace and serenity.
Yours in health,

Enough – Live For Something by John Van Auken
We do not do well when all we do is live. We do best when we have something to live for. Staying alive is not enough; staying alive for a purpose draws up a well of life energy within us and gives us a reason to keep on keeping on with as much vitality as we can muster. Obstacles mean little to one who is filled with purpose. Where there is a will, there is a way. Edgar Cayce taught this over and over. Here are two of his readings on this matter: This the entity should alter within self, being not only good, but good for something. Lose self rather in the service of others, and find that in whatsoever state the entity finds self, in that be content; not satisfied, knowing that, that which is built in self— whether of the material or…mental forces—must be guided by that as is universal in its aspect, would it be the lasting or that sure foundation that will build for a life worth living. (1726-1) Make the experiences of the life not only good but good for something, and we will find it will make the rest of the years of the entity’s experience in the earth much more worthwhile… Find your own ideal: spiritually, mentally, physically. Then study to show yourself approved; that is, act like you knew what it’s all about. For…life is an opportunity to show the appreciation to the divine within, with the divine in your fellow man, and if you act in that manner much more joy, much more worth while will be the earthly experience of this entity. (5294-1) I have personally felt the difference in my energy and my sense of purpose between those times when I’m just looking to live, to be comfortable, to be free, and those times when I feel a purpose, a calling, a role, a need that takes me into the lives of others and their needs. It can be as simple as continuing to help my grown children in the struggles of life.
Aug / Sept 2015
Or help my grandchildren when their parents are tired or busy. Or, it can be as complex as being a part of a group of souls attempting to help other souls or the community or some service project that makes life better for others. I feel much more alive when up and doing for a purpose, then when seeking my leisure and letting the others find their way on their own. Cayce again: Each soul would find development for itself to become a better channel, a better servant of the Lord. As to how each may better accomplish this in the experience, it is the development and the unfoldment of a practical, a manifested, an exemplified life in the service of the Master. And, as He has given, “A new commandment give I unto you, that you love one another.” (473-1) Being a loving channel of God’s love to others is a great service, a purposeful life to live. And there are so many whose lives would be better if they only felt a little love around them. Notice also how Cayce said the better channel of the Lord’s love is practical. Often we find others need some practical help; and as channels of the Lord’s power and ability, we may be that practical help for them. But we have to be involved in people’s lives and challenges. And that requires budgeting time to communicate, coordinate, and engage with others. Which often takes us away from our TVs and entertainment and peaceful private time (which we do need at times). Making time to commune with God and then with others helps us develop into better channels of God’s love in practical ways. And it gives us a much more worthwhile life to live—energizing us with the spirit of purposefulness and service to God’s sheep and lambs. Living is not enough; we need to have something to live for. What greater purpose to live for than being a channel of God’s love. This should add much purpose and meaning to our daily lives.

Music of the Spheres by Jill Mattson
Powerful, Long Forgotten Traditions Music was used for a variety of purposes, but many uses have been forgotten and lost. Work chants were used with sailors, field workers, slaves and soldiers to increase their productivity. Musical rhythms created patterns of organization and control movement – for an activity such as rowing a boat. It created unity and cooperation among workers. The musical rhythm set a work pace. It also helped people focus on the music and not the hard, and arduous work. Some songs give people identity, like “our” song, and songs for a sports team or a group or nation. Jingles can persuade people to accept a certain point of view. Jingles are used extensively in China to promote political points of view and in advertising to encourage people to buy a product. When ancient conquerors came into a new land,
6
they quickly outlawed local music – as their music strengthened identity in a culture and its old ways. The Russians did this in Finland during World War II, outlawing the music, Finlandia, as it gave the local people courage and strength. Music has more power than we give it credit for. Special uplifting music can change a person’s outlook, creating a window to heaven – a new way of feeling and thinking. Ancient people referred to music that altered and uplifted a person’s conscious as the “music of the spheres.” Author Viola Pettit Neal, wrote about a novel use of music, “The conquest of evil will ultimately be accomplished by use of rituals of sound and form. For evil is that which is disharmonious and cannot exist in harmonious pattern of sound and form. The word ‘ritual’ in its true definition is an orderly movement of
Aug / Sept 2015
sound and geometrical form in sequential patterns.”1 Neal suggests that harmonious music can overcome disharmony (evil). Many African tribes surround someone who has behaved badly, singing their name and song to them – reestablishing harmony. It makes sense that Osama bin Laden outlawed music for his followers. Guess it would be hard to prepare for a suicide bombing mission, when you were humming a breezy Beach Boys tune. Such harmony would make it near impossible to get people do heinous deeds. Could we use music to change people that have done unscrupulous things? Why not use harmonic and healing music: In prisons, with children in trouble or business with poor reputations? Where negotiations are taking place? What about on a war front? How serious could people be about fighting, when everyone was singing Silent Night? Research has shown that people easily believe others in a distant country are enemies - if they don’t know them. In contrast, if they know the people, they don’t want them to be hurt. What about sharing songs from countries to lesson international tension? If people like a country’s music, it will be harder to demonize their people - as the enemy. For example, racism against black people declined in the end of the last century, when young people loved black rap music. The people of Estonia, a small Romanian country, had been slaves for thousands of years. As slaves, they were demoralized. When the abusive Czars were shot, the Estonians saw their chance for freedom, but had no courage to seize the opportunity. In a country of only a million people, half of them sang nonstop for a week. The energy created from singing - realigned their “will,” determination and spirit. They rose up and boldly gained their freedom. Shortly after Hitler took control of Poland, Russia overpowered the Romanian countries. Under Stalin’s rule about a third of Estonians were randomly forced to work in Siberia. Most died. This practice terrorized the people. Later, Hitler as well as the Russians, enslaved Estonian men and forced them to fight against each other, with brothers killing brothers. Pain colored the Estonians with fear, shame, and horror; once again, breaking the spirit of the people. After World War II, the Russian occupation created
Infinity
harsh conditions, little food, no jobs, no places to live, but plenty of fear. When the communist regime fell, the Estonian people found themselves again beaten down with no strength to gain their freedom. Once again, the Estonian people came together with a song-festival for five days, with a half of million people attending. Afterwards, the Estonia people gained their freedom, crediting their courage to the energy created by singing. To this day the Estonian people hold a song-festival every five years. Sound and music is chock full of hidden energy. Music is invisible, but its powers are greater than we ever dreamed of. __________ 1. Viola Pettit Neal, Through the Curtain, 1962.

Our next issue is October/November, the deadline to participate and ask your question is September 10th. Dear Sage Woman, How do I go through the things that belong to my deceased loved ones in order to discard and/or donate items? It is all so overwhelming and I find It very hard to complete this task. Regards, Grace ________ Dear Grace. Thank you for bringing your question to the column. This is something that most of us will have to face at some point in our lives. My mother passed away in February and I found myself in a very similar situation. My father asked me and my two sisters to go through my mom’s things and
8
decide what we each wanted before he began to give items away. It was a bitter sweet experience. The three of us sat on our parent’s bed and just stared at each other, at first not really knowing where to begin. I put on some music and we began to go through her jewelry and mementos. We were brought to both tears and laughter throughout the hours it took us to go through the memories. We had particular stories to tell about the things we were each drawn to keep. I will never forget that special evening. We could feel her with us, almost like she was right there sitting next to us. I am certain it was a different experience for my father after we all left and he had to go through what remained and decide what to do with what needed to go. I do believe, on some levels, it was healing for him as well. My suggestion is to take all the time you need. Release the pressure of a deadline and choose to shift your perspective from being overwhelmed, to being in the beautiful position of honoring your deceased loved one by going through things that were a part of his or her earthly life. Say a prayer and a blessing to each person for the gifts he or she brought to you in their lifetime. Then delegate an amount of time each day, perhaps only two hours and put things into just three different boxes. One box for things you want to donate. One for things you want to discard. And the third box, perhaps for things most special to you that you would want to either keep or gift to someone else. Be gentle with yourself and know there is no time limit on grief. Grief is a very personal emotion. The fact you have even reached out means you are beginning to find the strength to address the
Aug / Sept 2015
issue, and more importantly, the core underneath the task. Allow whatever emotions come up, to simply come up. Know that you are not alone. Rest assured that your loved one, if you so desire, will be with you in Spirit as you honor their memory.
Feel Better Fast!
Sending you unconditional love and mythical strength as you embark on this important journey. It is an opportunity to gain even more faith and trust in our Creator. Blessings, Sage

The Secrets of Your Success by William L. Molitor, BCH, CI Have you ever tried to stop a bad habit such as smoking, nail biting or eating poorly and failed? Have you tried to overcome feelings of anxiety, fear or sadness only to find those feeling returning time and time again? When you experience these failures, do you say to yourself “I have no will power”? This statement could not be further from the truth. Will power is not something that comes in measured quantities. Will power comes from practicing correct thinking. Those who seem to have an abundance of will power are simply using their mind in a capacity that promotes success. Everyone has that capability, the difference is: do you know how to use it. When you make a decision to do anything you first have to imagine the outcome of that decision and what it means to you personally. The more clearly you can imagine the results in your mind the easier it is for you make the choices that will bring those results to you. Let’s say you want to lose weight. You decide to start an exercise program and eat less. One of the first things people do wrong is tell themselves that they want to lose weight and leave it at that. For most people the desire to lose weight has a much deeper desire, and knowing what that desire is becomes essential to your success. You have very little drive to do things that are not rewarding to you personally. If you do not take the time to make very clear in your mind what your reward is, then exercising or changing your eating habits may be experienced simply as a punishment. Hypnosis is a naturally occurring state of mind that can help you achieve astounding clarity. When you are in this state called hypnosis you become highly focused, and are able to create a significantly clearer picture of your goals and their results. With this clarity your mind now has the opportunity to begin to reorganize its thought process to be in line with the success of your goals. Your thoughts are the blueprints of your successes
10
or failures. A partially complete set of blueprints can only result in a partially complete result. When I hear “I never thought that it would be so easy to: quit smoking, lose weight, overcome a fear, anxiety or phobia or become a happier person...” it confirms what I tell my clients over and over again. I tell them that when they learn to tap into their unlimited source of information known as the subconscious mind with clarity, they will find the answers to any change that they truly wish to make. This is much like performing a Google search. If you type the words “stop smoking” into the search engine you will come up with about 25,000,000 results if you type in “stop smoking + hypnosis you will get about 1,240,000 results if you add the word “Cincinnati” you are now down to 16,200 results. Each time you add clarity to the search it becomes more focused on what you actually want and in return gives you information that is significant to your specific wants, needs or desires. As mentioned before, hypnosis is a highly focused state of awareness. While in hypnosis you are not in a sleep state but a mental state of intense clarity during which time your mind is receptive to information that is valid to the changes you wish to make. Your mind becomes free from the naturally occurring outside interference giving it the capacity to focus all of its vast resources on a solution that leads to the achievement of your goals. Once those solution orientated resources are discovered and programmed into your thinking it becomes as if you have always been successful at whatever you are doing. You are then experiencing what most people call “Will Power”; I prefer to call it “Mind Power”. There are many ways to achieve this type of clarity of thought. The most proven and powerful process is with hetero-hypnosis. Hetero-hypnosis is simply a hypnotic state created by another person (hypnotist). Self-hypnosis is a hypnotic state that is self-created. This is not to say that
Aug / Sept 2015
self-hypnosis is not productive, but when you are working with professional hypnotists, such as those trained and certified by the National Guild of Hypnotists (NGH), you will discover that the need for conscious thought decreases drastically and you are then able to tap into the unlimited resources of the subconscious mind at a much deeper and meaningful level. With the professional guidance of a trained hypnotist the sub-conscious mind receives clear information in the form of hypnotic suggestions that help you to create a more comprehensible thought to enhance the changes that you want. Then by learning and using selfhypnosis to reinforce those changes they quickly become habits that create lasting changes. So, the next time you want to improve your life,
don’t go back to what has failed you in the past. Learn real mind control. Learn how to use your “Mind Power”.

Kindness
by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger
Kindness can be described as a quality, a behavior, or even as a way of living one’s life. Do animals have the quality of kindness? Do animals behave in what we would define as a kind way towards one another? Do they behave kindly towards us? These are interesting questions, and could take us into the realm of what animal behaviorists might call anthropomorphism – the “attribution of human form or other characteristics to anything other than a human being” (source Wikipedia). I would actually challenge this concept a little bit, as I think it is a little “chicken and egg”; who is to say that kindness is a characteristic that originated in humans? Could we perhaps have learned about kindness by observing and living with animals? As humans, we do describe animals sometimes as though they indeed have the quality of kindness. For example, we talk about a horse having a “kind eye”. We describe a dog as having a “kind expression”
12
on their face. We often point to examples of kind behavior amongst animals. Facebook and YouTube are filled with examples of animals of different species behaving in a kind way towards one another, and even towards humans who are complete strangers to them. We all enjoy watching them – they make us smile and for a few moments we feel better about life. I thought about kindness in the context of animals I have known in my life, and asked myself if any of those animals had shown the qualities of kindness in their personality, or had behaved in a kind way towards another animal or a human being. I immediately thought of my horse Zan whom I had many years ago. He was one of the kindest beings you would ever meet. He helped teach a young boy with dyslexia how to tell right from left by allowing me to give the boy riding lessons on him. He also allowed the “barn moms” – those who had daughters with expensive, active show horses that
Aug / Sept 2015
the women were not comfortable riding – to get on him and ride him quietly around the indoor arena. He was an absolute gentleman. He was also very kind to me in a difficult time in my life, allowing me to come into his stall while he was laying down and sit snuggled up against him for awhile. He was an amazing spirit in horse form, and everyone who knew him loved him. Another example of an animal who exhibits kindness towards humans is our dog Obi. He loves nothing more than to comfort us when we are upset, tired, or just down in the dumps. He will lie on your feet and look up at you with those big Basset eyes, just letting you know that he is there for you as long as you need him. What is so interesting about both Zan and Obi is that their experience with human beings was not always the best. Zan was a lesson horse that had been leased or rented out to several different barns. By the time I bought him, he would not even turn and look at you when you went into his stall. Yet, when he had one human being that learned to love him and care for him, he let his true nature come through. Obi took 2 years to realize we were not going to discard him or let him run away as his previous 4 homes had. He was in his forever home. Once he understood that, we began to see what a wonderful, loving, kind dog he really is. We see this over and over with our clients and our own animals – their true nature is to be loving and kind if they feel safe and loved. I am sure that all of you who have animals in your lives can think of an example of when one of them acted kindly towards you, or who you felt were just kind beings. I think animals can model qualities and behaviors for us like kindness as a way of reminding us of what is really important to us emotionally, spiritually, and physically. We have all heard the phrase “random acts of kindness” or “paying it forward’. As summer ends, perhaps we need to remind ourselves the importance of cultivating the quality of kindness in ourselves, and modeling that
Infinity
quality in random acts of kindness towards each other, and towards our animal friends. Enjoy the rest of the summer. PS – whomever has been doing the rain dancing … ENOUGH ALREADY!!

It was extremely painful and took almost a month to recover from. About a month after surgery, the ENT figured out why I was taking so long to recovery! I developed Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). My follow up CAT scan showed that the sinus surgery was not successful. Due to the infection, more scar tissue had formed in my nose and sinuses. His recommendation? Let’s do the surgery again! I told him that I needed time to consider my options. Valerie Hobbs and Dr. Patrick Baker “Early one morning, I sent a message to Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. By 4:00 pm that same afternoon I started on my road to recovery. Over 10 years ago, I began having chronic ear and sinus infections. I have 2 older sisters and they both began having ear infections around the same age. They both had PE tubes placed and never had issues with ear infections again. My primary care doctor treated the infections for a while and then recommended that I see an Ear, Nose & Throat specialist. The first ENT told me that adults don’t get chronic ear infections. Basically, he totally blew me off. No treatment was provided! I found another ENT and was taken seriously. Unfortunately, his interventions did not lead to success. He recommended PE tubes and they worked for about 6 months. Even with the tubes, I had 2 additional ear infections. The last ear infection resulted in the tubes being displaced. The ENT allowed my ears to “heal” and started me on an allergy medication. He also recommended that I see an allergist. I began a long road of twice a week allergy injections. The only thing that I received from the allergy injections was that I no longer have a fear of needles! Next, the ENT recommended sinus surgery for new,

I was thrilled that I would finally get relief from chronic pain and pressure. I had another CAT scan done. All my hopes were short lived. The ENT looked at my CAT scan and said that “if I was looking for surgery then I came to the wrong doctor.” Surgery was the last thing on my mind. But to get relief, I would have gladly had another surgery! The doctor then recommended that I take allegra and a saline spray daily. He assured me that this would relieve all my symptoms! A year later, he was dead wrong! In this past year alone, I have seen a doctor over 20 times! All visits were for my ears or sinuses. Even after all those visits, I still had chronic sinus pain and pressure. That pressure led to multiple ear infections in the past year. After too many sleepless nights, I searched and found Baker Chiropractic and Wellness and submitted an appointment request at 4:00 am. I received a response from Danielle by 8:00 am with an appointment that same day. I was impressed from the moment I walked in the door. Everyone was

friendly and professional. I got my first adjustment and was amazed that I had some relief. A month later, I have no ear pain! Sinuses are a work in progress but I have 100% faith that they will get better!
Their caring and compassion go beyond anything I have ever experienced! I recently experienced a death of a loved one and was overwhelmed by the support I received from Baker Chiropractic. From a thoughtful touch to a sympathy card, Baker Chiropractic went above and beyond to share my loss. I have never had a doctor that knows so much about me and truly cares!
My x-rays showed some low back degeneration. I am a nurse and have assumed that back pain was part of the job! I am thrilled to say it is no longer part of the job! Dr. Patrick Baker is heaven sent! He provided me with a thorough understanding of the purpose of chiropractic care and what my x-rays showed.

Healing with Visualization & Guided Imagery
by Dr. Michael F. Landwehr The following article describes Visualization/Guided Imagery as applied to a moderate Cancer patient’s anxiety/pain/depression/rage/powerlessness and helps to increase hopefulness. Hello! I am Dr. Mike and I invite you to travel with me here for a few minutes of your time. I’ll share with you some ideas and information about empowering yourself and reducing your feelings of being overwhelmed by a cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, insensitive care professionals, etc. O.K.? Let’s Go! Pretend/visualize/see yourself at a social function. You are checking out the snacks and food choices when you become aware of another person next to you doing the same. You say hello and begin to chat and exchange social info in accordance with American customs. You learn that your new acquaintance has kids, grandkids, is a soccer mom/dad, lives in a suburb near you, is a liberal, conservative, etc., attended some of the same schools, colleges you did, drives a Ford/GM/Toyota/ whatever, has a cat/dog/turtle/gecko, goes to church at …., love/hates some the same stuff and people you do, works at....., and reads some of the same books, magazines, and articles you do. You find her/him likable, smart, interesting, funny and desirable as a new acquaintance, at least for the rest of your survey of your host’s food/snacks offerings and a drink or two. In the moments that follow your social intercourse you note that your new found associate seems a bit tired and weary in spite of their attempts to be affable and engaging. Being cautiously direct but assertive you share this observation with them. What follows is a shocking and unflinching revelation on their part that, ....”1 am tired, exhausted really. I just finished my last oncology chemo visit today at XXXX Hospital.” You manage your surprise well, express your compassion sincerely, and carefully proceed to inquire about their condition and experiences with it.
16
Vicariously you are putting yourself in their place and trying to gauge how you would handle it. At the same time you are grateful and relieved that you don’t have to. You begin to bond more with your new friend and offer some internal prayers for them and their families. You experience your own energy draining away. You learn that she just had a double mastectomy or that he has had his throat chemo visit. You experience more compassion, but you are unsettled, and uncomfortable with the graphic images and perceptions flooding through your mind and thoughts. You experience your own sense of gratitude and relief that you, at least for now, do not suffer from anything like what your new friend does or maybe you do and your dialogue swirls around your common humanity and concerns for health and well being. O.K. please stop this journey for now. Hello again! Dr. Mike here and I want you to join me on a related, but somewhat different, walk with me as I share some ideas and suggestions. These are things you might consider doing to more effectively manage your, or a loved one’s, anxieties, fears, dreads, depressions, and hopeless feelings about illnesses, cancers, traumas, losses, wounds and major set-backs and failures. We all have and share with each other our perceptions and beliefs, biases, projections and interpretations about other peoples’ intentions and behaviors. These exchanges emanate from within our own collections of experiences, leanings, imaginations, sensitivities, temperaments, personalities, and belief systems. Cancers, and other unseen health conditions are like Hollywood’s scariest horror movies striking fear, dread, sleepless days and nights and all sorts of unwanted feelings and thoughts in even the strongest of us. We can all suffer and die. What can we do? What resources, treatments, professionals, medicines, supplements, friends are available to save/help us? Do we fight/flight banish our awareness, embrace it, cope with it, pray for it, deny it? Holistic Methods offer many adjunct therapies, palliatives, essential oils, supplements, practices to use in conjunction with and/or in place of current medical orthodoxies and treatment protocols.
Aug / Sept 2015
This presentation does not recommend altering or discontinuing anyone’s medical therapies or ignoring doctor’s counsel. It is an adjunct resource. My contribution today focuses on Visualization/Guided Imagery as an additional technique and arrow in our quiver to shoot down the rage, helpless, hopeless, depressive feelings within ourselves. It is intended to re-empower us and re-vitalize us to increase our adaptive energies and enhance our recovery, remission, and perhaps the cessation of our diseased condition in conjunction with whatever other therapies are being employed. Whatever the level of benefits received this exercise does not harm the person using it. To begin your Guided Imagery you establish a distraction free and quiet environment where you can comfortable sit back or recline. Soothing music, wind chimes, nature sounds, flowing waters etc. can be helpful to many of us. Close your eyes and begin following the breathing techniques I’ll share with you. Slow, deep easy breaths; hold for a few seconds, release slowly and continue this process for a few moments as you relax more and more. If your visual imagination is robust you picture a scene/place you find peaceful and comforting. If your visual imagination is not so great I have a variety of pictures and suggestions for you to consider in order to proceed. Once these things have been started I encourage you into deeper and deeper levels of peaceful quietness and relaxedness. Then visualization of the area/s needing healing is introduced. Your own intuitive sense of warmth, cooling, light, color is focused on the area/s you identify as affected. This imagery and process journey continues in deeper and lighter and deeper cycles of awareness. Sometimes you may fall asleep for awhile. This is never a problem and does not affect the benefit of the procedure. For many it enhances the experience. After about 40 minutes you are gently invited to slowly return to an increasing awareness of the room/place around you as you bring this journey to a close. Sometimes, you experience a greater sense of awareness/alertness or experience an insight or an “aha” that your want to incorporate into your future imagery sessions.
Infinity
Sometimes, this experience occurs hours or days later. Sometimes, nothing but an increased feeling of well-being occurs. Your experience/s may vary and all awareness’s flow from your subconscious or unconscious mind revelations. The session is closed by reviewing your remembrance of your journey and discusses any questions or concerns you may have. Eventually, you master the process/practice and use it on your own, perhaps with periodic consults and changes in imagery. I hope that you have benefitted forgiveness this abridged version of the Guided Imagery process and our brief journey today. I encourage your to try the process on your own. It won’t hurt and you will improve in your mastery of this process. If you do experience difficulties or frustrations and/or you just aren’t a good “visualizer” you might want to seek a consult for some ideas and ways to better enjoy the process. Thank you for your interest. Be well. Live long. Enjoy being with your loved ones and friends. Laugh and smile often. Be grateful and express your gratitude. Know how special you and your time here is. “In a contest between your rational mind and your imagination your imagination wins.” About the Author: Dr. Michael F. Landwehr, clinical psychologist. Eggplant
A Healthy Choice
This odd shaped fruit, it is true that eggplant is considered a fruit instead of a vegetable, is a perfect choice to enjoy as a healthy addition to your diet. Eggplant is low in calories and comes in many varieties. One of the most common types of eggplant is the deep purple in color with a smooth shiny skin. A powerful phytonutrient found in the skin is called nasunin. Research has shown that nasunin has been shown to protect cell membranes from damage. More importantly, studies have concluded that consuming the eggplant skin, helps to protect brain cells as well. Eggplant is a heart healthy addition to your diet, as it contains several other phytonutrients, which help to improve blood flow in the artery walls. It consists of Vitamin K and bioflavonoids, which can control high blood pressure and relieve stress. Eggplant has been regarded as a powerful food that
18
can possibly prevent cancer, it reduces free radical damage, and helps to ease the painful joints of rheumatoid arthritis. Regular intake of eggplant protects the digestive tract, they provide fiber and it is low in calories, just 35 per cup, it contains no fat and it can help you feel full. Eggplant has been used for controlling and managing diabetes, being low in carbohydrates makes it an ideal choice. When choosing an eggplant, their skin should be shiny and smooth. They should be heavy and firm, free from discoloration and bruises. The stem and cap should be bright green. To test for ripeness, press the skin gently with your thumb, if it springs back, the eggplant is ripe. To store an eggplant, place it uncut and unwashed in a plastic bag in the refrigerator, it will keep for a few days, be careful not to damage the skin which can cause it to spoil or decay.
Aug / Sept 2015
To reduce the bitterness in eggplant and to tenderize it, it is best to use the process called, “sweating”, it is done by sprinkling the eggplant with salt and allowing it to rest for about 30 minutes. It can be chopped into desired pieces before this process. Make sure to rinse the eggplant to remove most of the salt. This also helps when cooking the eggplant so it will not absorb so much oil when cooking. Eggplant can be baked, grilled, roasted and stewed, it is delicious in various dishes. Reach for the beautiful eggplant at the supermarket, it is an excellent choice to create for yourself and your family a healthier lifestyle!

Rest Assured, We Do Not Walk Alone by Michael McAdams Faith is our strength as times of confusion and concern challenge our beings and require us to examine our intentions and the vision we hold for that which we wish to accomplish in this existence. Obstacles cannot be overcome, lessons cannot be learned, and our character cannot rise to the occasion if challenges are not presented. We grow weary of challenges and turmoil yet we can walk with confidence knowing that we do not walk alone. We have never really been alone. Throughout our existence we are accompanied by spirit teachers, angels, Gods direct representatives who offer strength and support that will not let us falter or fail if we will but listen and abide by the advice and divine inspiration given with love and consideration for the circumstances our choices have placed us in. From the collection of messages and teachings received directly from spirit teachers/angels that compose Wilma Jean Jones’ upcoming book “An Angel Told Me So” comes this high teaching. The depth and quality of these teachings received and the personal nature of this material engages and allows readers to feel they are being spoken to on a level that reflects what they personally are experiencing and speaks to the heart of those willing to accept the divine nature of these dictated messages. This message was presented for Wilma, yet teachings given in this message reverberate with a universal thread that speaks directly to all sincere seekers of truth on a personal level as each reader feels they are being addressed as they deal with what is transpiring in their lives. Note the references by these spirit teachers’ to themselves as “we” and “us.” This message was received by Wilma on Saturday, January 6, 1996. “In accordance with your intent, we will begin a new work to coincide with those promises that have been given in the past. Although circumstances are disturbing, we have organized a topic that will give meaning to what has taken place so far. Indeed, we have entitled you to be reimbursed for the efforts you have made, and having realized your role we have summoned together those who will bring together all things in remembrance of your loyalty. Taken together there have been mixed feelings and
20
emotions foreign to your nature perhaps, however, because these mishaps have signaled release, at the same time release brings freedom in areas that have been presented for completion. “Whenever caution is to be used, rest assured we will bring strength to your ability to transcribe what is necessary to relate so that others will not wander without guidance or without His Spirit that remains ever faithful to those who rely on this method of instruction. Gather together those things that have been given and as the words signal a return to His cause, you will be guided in your efforts and destroy doubts that interfere with your purpose. “Rest assured” is in itself faith that has taken hold and will ultimately bring to fruition that which was given. Remake your efforts in a manner of speaking His judgments as well as His blessings, for as we bring forth these entitlements we must adhere to total commitment where action is concerned, whereby His spirit can be directed into areas of concern. “Total commitment will be the answer to all issues and will bear witness to the truths that have been presented. Trust your nature to bring together that which has been provided. Although turmoil plays its part in bringing out those instincts and talents needed, at the same time it places in jeopardy the intent, and therefore requires a deep devotion to enable the soul to make progress. As we “cross the line” sometimes, we are divided in our intent and therein lies the danger of regret and failure. Directed in your efforts, remind those who are invited to participate, that recovery of the soul’s purpose in this life is the ultimate goal we should seek to defend against all that tries to come between our efforts to succeed. “Whatever is given, is always given with the intent to “acquire” and not “require” as it is this free choice that bears resemblance to His nature that is serving us a daily portion of His mercy and grace to divide His summons in a right manner that will portray in the end our desire to be as He is and follow after our own misguided attempts that deny us existence in His presence. Although circumstances leave us waiting, still our hearts must be attuned to His voice, for after

all, in the end, it will be His voice that we must heed and whatever has been our “choice” will also be our own sentence as we have been instructed in the way to peace and tranquility. “Offer yourselves up as a living sacrifice in order to gain entrance into that place that has been reserved for those who will show forth strength in the face of dismay and adversity, for in so doing the redemptive power of His Spirit will make right all that has been a part of this nature that has been held captive so to speak, and by His spoken word will grant release and provide a refuge in spite of the storms that have tried to overtake and consume that which He has created, and therefore will be a presentation of His power and ability to transfix our gaze once again toward the shelter He has provided and in which we can be protected. Rely on your ability to understand the meaning of certain circumstances that deride your attempts to provide this means of escape, for although limited as you may be in your ability to overcome, He can and will forge ahead to see that what is completed in accordance with His will to serve in this capacity will be rewarded as a distinct presentation of His love and consideration derived according to your ability to keep pace with His judgments and not falter or fail.” Copyright 2015

The Healing Power of Forgiveness by Wayne Holmes Clean the Slate We come into this world with a clean slate. We have no sins, mistakes, errors, mishaps, and no wickedness. As newborn babies we are not judged, condemned or guilt-ed. We are the only creations who believe in right and wrong, and that seems to have taken a toll on our planet. Our freewill choice is both a blessing and a curse. At times it seems the longer we live, the greater is our list of things we wish we had not done or things we wish we could do over. Wouldn’t it be nice if we could clean the slate and forget the past? We may not be able to forget the past, but it is possible to clean the slate. The ability to forgive coupled with love is the eraser that allows us to move forward without our list of errors constantly reminding us of our poor choices. Forgiving those who hurt us is essential to the slatecleaning process. Seeking forgiveness for the hurts we caused others is a second part of that process and forgiving ourselves for our past mistakes and blunders completes the three-fold slate-cleaning process. Once we have accomplished this task we recognize that not only does our forgiveness help to heal those we have hurt, but, just as importantly, that process helps to heal our own lives, too. Now we can release the things of the past because they need no longer bring shame, pain, and guilt to our present or future. We can move forward and recall our past as a learning experience. We can become the people we always wanted to be, and we can become the people that we have the potential to be. Lovingly forgiving ourselves is not something we take lightly. It is an important step in most recovery programs and in life in general. Be Gracious It is with permission that I share the following story of a young father who was in the process of going through a divorce with the mother of his four-year-old daughter. The young girl, even at the age of four, understood more than what the father gave her credit for, and was acting out her hurt and pain in inappropriate ways. When the child was only seven months, the father didn’t see or speak to his daughter for several months. The young
22
girl didn’t understand why her dad wasn’t with her mom, and she was angry. When it was suggested to the father that he apologize to his daughter for the situation, the man responded by saying, “There’s no way I’m going to apologize to a four-year old.” How sad. Not just for the child, but also for the father. He didn’t seem to realize the damage he was doing to his daughter by withholding his apology, but he also didn’t see the damage he was doing to himself and to his future relationship with his child. Apologies are simple things, and if we can let go of our pride and get in the habit of making them regularly in the small matters, then when the big crises come along we will not find it nearly as difficult. Perhaps the father felt he didn’t need to apologize because he felt his actions were justified in one way or another. It’s not for me to judge his actions because I don’t know the circumstances, and even if I did, it still wouldn’t be my place to judge. But, an apology can be such a powerful tool for healing. Sometimes that healing doesn’t happen in the present moment, but the memory of that attempt can help when someone—a young child in this case—reflects over her situation later in life. We might think that a four-year-old doesn’t understand, and with some children that might be true. But we never know when a child’s internal self-esteem and ability to love and accept love is damaged by the mood of hatred, strife, and bitterness. Giving an apology, even if we don’t think we need to, is a matter of being gracious. About the Author: Pastor Wayne Holmes is an ordained minister with Divinity Spiritual Church and also Revelation Spiritual Church. He is the co-founder of Religious Recovery, an organization dedicated to healing wounds inflicted by religion or the religious. He is not opposed to religion, but he sees the hurts and endeavors to help. Wayne is the author of seven books including his latest title, Every Path Leads Home: Opening to Your Spiritual Journey. Healing Together –
The Special LIIFT Process Which Quickly Heals Families by Brian Eastman
Grandma started it. She had called seeking help for her nine-year-old grandson. (Note: names and details are changed to protect privacy.) Grandma explained that “Danny” had been born to a drug-addicted mother and her alcoholic son. Danny’s mother had mostly stayed away from drugs after she realized she was pregnant. After the birth, however, she had gone on a threemonth high, abandoning her child. The son had been drinking heavily during the pregnancy. When he found himself alone and responsible for infant Danny, he too disappeared into a long drunk. Grandma had to take over the care of the child. From birth, Danny’s life was unstable. Sometimes one or both parents were sober and caring for him. Sometimes Grandma had to step in. Recently both parents had stayed sober. But the damage to Danny has been done. Grandma told me that Danny has been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety. “He is quite smart, but he has trouble paying attention in school. He can’t sit still to take tests, so he usually gets D’s and F’s,” she told me. “He compulsively eats everything in sight.” Grandma had attended one of my lectures on LIIFT, so she knew that we prefer to heal children using “Healing At A Distance”(TM). We did that for Danny. Here are some of the belief patterns we changed in him during the session: -From “I am unlovable and unwanted,” to “I am much loved, wanted and appreciated.” -From “I can’t,” to “I can, I do, and I do it very well.” -From “I expect the worst to happen,” to “I expect the best to happen and it usually does.”
Infinity
And, using Healing At A Distance, we helped Danny release the damage from many experiences of anger, grief, fear, and trauma. A week later, Grandma called with good news. Danny was calm now and had gotten an A on a test. He was so quiet that a visiting aunt asked if he was ill. Then she went on to ask, “Our whole family is so messed up. Can you work LIIFT on all of us?” So now I help the entire family heal. We have biweekly LIIFT group sessions where everyone who is able attends and does healings together. The absent family members we heal at a distance during the session. What is the advantage of healing a family as a group? There are several: a) many family members will have the same issues, so one specific LIIFT healing can work for everyone; b) the family, by doing LIIFT together, is creating a mutually supportive atmosphere; c) new understandings about each other occur as specific Belief Statements come up; and d) with everyone shifting together toward more OK-ness, each person can more easily adapt new OK behaviors. Recent news: Danny has ceased to compulsively over-eat. And his doctor has adjusted his medications downward. Grandma says the whole family seems happier. Side Note: The same LIIFT group-healing process works well for couples.
About the author: Brian Eastman invested 30 years’ research to create the LIIFT healing process. He sees people and groups in Cincinnati, Dayton, Indianapolis in person, and anywhere else by Skype. He is available to lead LIIFT training seminars and LIIFT Prosperity Workshops throughout North America. Contact Brian at 513.541.1257 or brian.eastman@LIIFT.info.

Everyday Magic
by Cynthia M. Brown
I live in a rural community. I know many of my neighbors. Some I see frequently and spend time with. Others I simply know by greeting. The difference in my neighbors here and my neighbors in town is simple. Out here, folks take the time to get to know one another. I love the simple gesture of folks waving as they drive past. It is particularly sweet to have someone just drop by as they walk their dog. I have asked myself why it is so different. I like to think some of it is we do not have cell service up here but I don’t really believe so. We do have land lines and anyone could still give a call before stopping by….After being here for more than four years I don’t wonder about it quite so much; I just enjoy it. I enjoy having a neighbor see me moving wood and they come over and help. I enjoy simple conversation while we work. I enjoy walking my
24
dog and having someone on the lane bring out a tomato or a couple of apples from their own tree. I even feel a special warmth when someone knocks on the door late in the evening to ask permission to search the property for their missing dog and then having them stop back by to let me know they are leaving. I am moving back to the city and so I keep thinking about all these small kindnesses and gestures of neighborliness that I treasure and that I am going to miss. And, even as I begin that process of moving, the small miracle of open hearts continues. My staff and neighbors keep scheduling days and times to help me pack and clean. We work and then we stop and eat pizza and drink a beer and laugh and talk about our kids and parents…. I have not asked for help-these wonderful people just offer and I accept.
Aug / Sept 2015
I have begun to think part of the magic is being willing to accept what is offered in the spirit it is offered. In this crazy world we can be so jaded and so suspicious of everyone and everything. Sometimes just being able to accept help graciously, opens the door to more grace. I so want to take this magic practice of kindness and gratitude back to the city. I want to offer simple gestures of neighborliness and find ways to help my neighbors accept it as it is intended and see what happens. I am grateful every day that I have been able to spend time here in this beautiful mountain country with these generous, open fun-loving people. Their love of life, nature and community has inspired me and filled my life with joy. I would like to think I carry some of their goodness of spirit and that I can make someone’s day a little better every day because of it.

Author’s Spotlight Recommended Reads The Conscious Parent Transforming Ourselves, Empowering Our Children by Dr. Shefali Tsabary, PhD Quote from the book- “Children who are raised by parents who are conscious and therefore both at peace with themselves and connected to their inner joy, discover the abundance of the universe and learn how to tap into this ever-flowing source.” Dr. Shefali Tsabary challenges every parent to think outside the box and try a different approach in raising our children. From toddlers to teens, Dr. Tsabary gives the readers the tools to learn how to communicate with your children at a higher level with a loving approach. Defining the term as” behavioral shaping” instead of the word, “discipline” she provides several methods that can help you build a solid foundation while teaching your children. Dr. Shefali states that the method of shaping behavior is more effective than punishment. This book is based on learning the dynamics that take place between the parent and child. Discovering more about ourselves and how we can break the cycle of raising our children as we were raised with family tradition passed through generations. Most parents are so conditioned from our upbringing and traditional ways that we force our own goals and wishes upon our children so they can become what our ego desires.
26
Dr. Shefali points out that letting go of our ego and our own agenda opens up a whole new world for children to become empowered providing them the opportunity to express themselves and blossom into their own beautiful spirit enabling them to grow to their fullest potential. She demonstrates the process of conscious parenting and living in the present moment as children do by learning through real life experiences with her own child and examples of her client’s relationship issues with their children. Dr. Tsabary’s book of “The Conscious Parent” is a recommended read for all parents that are searching for a better way to guide and raise their children while building a trusting and spiritual connection with them. Children that live in a wholesome and loving environment with conscious parents lead fulfilled, happy and productive lives. This book can be purchased at amazon.com

Her ability to appeal to both a psychologically astute and consciousness-driven audience establishes her as one of a kind in the parenting field. Dr. Shefali has worked with a varied demographic, ranging from survivors of the Asian Tsunami to Third World women, from inner city youth to suburban families, and from the elderly and infirm to corporate leaders. Dr. Shefali lectures extensively on mindful living and conscious parenting around the world, and is in private practice. She is author of Out of Control, published in early 2014, as well as the book It’s a Mom: What you should know about the early years of motherhood, which debuted on the Indian National Bestseller List for four weeks. Dr Shefali was a guest on Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday and Lifeclass television programs. This book hit #1 at Amazon and BN, and continues to remain in the top ten.

August begins with Saturn coming off of its retrograde and beginning to move forward again through the last few degrees of Scorpio. Congratulations Scorpio! The crap you had to put up with for the last two and a half years won’t be back for nearly another three decades. Saturn then enters of Sagittarius on September 18th. Congratulations Sagittarius! You have two and a half years of wonderful karmic lessons to learn! We all love karmic lessons, don’t we? Okay, that was sarcastic. No one wants Saturn in their Sign, least of all Sagittarius. Sagittarius does not exactly have the reputation for handling burdens and adversity well... unless you count “blindly shrugging it all off and continuing to be recklessly optimistic” as a way to handle adversity well. On August 11th, Jupiter ends its year-long run in Leo and enters Virgo. If you spend a lot of time reading about astrology, you’ll see plenty of things about how the boisterous and enthusiastic nature of Jupiter doesn’t work well in Virgo. However if you presented Jupiter itself with any of these complaints, while in Virgo it will provide you with a detailed list of why you’re wrong, and as a bonus a list of ways you are mismanaging your life and how you should re-sort your cutlery drawer. Yeah I know, it’s a cliche about Virgos that they’re so picky. They only do it because they care. They only do it because it’s for your own good. I could go on for several more paragraphs in excruciating detail about this, but I won’t. You’ll be getting enough of that for the next year from others while Jupiter is in Virgo. One of the more noteworthy things about the astrology

of August and September is the fact that Venus will be spending all of that time in one Sign: Leo. Given that Venus zips around the Zodiac approximately once every year, it’s strange how much time she has spent in the Sign of the Lion. Like, really strange. If you love your romance with a touch of dramatic flair, this could be a great time. But if you think your best feature is your hair, it is a particularly cruel irony that Venus in Leo favors such things yet is happening during such a high humidity time of the year. Never let it be said that the Zodiac doesn’t have a sense of humor on occasion. During August, Venus travels from the very end of Leo back to the middle, and then in the first week of September it starts moving forward again. If there is a heavy emphasis on Air or Fire in your birth chart, this will help you have some sweet and pleasant times. If there is an emphasis of Taurus or Scorpio in your birth chart, there is bound to be some overspending and overeating. Either way could be a good time if you handle it properly. Mars leaves Cancer on the 9th of August. I would say something about how Mars in Cancer is a particularly moody and irritable and difficult to handle placement, except I have received explicit instructions from Mars in Cancer to not refer to it that way. These instructions came in the form of a handwritten note wrapped around a brick and thrown through my front window. So, yes: Mars in Cancer has been PERFECTLY REASONABLE for all of us. Mercury turns retrograde on September 17th. Once again all the standard cautions about double checking

your work and making sure you’re sending that email to the right recipient will be in place.
night crowd at a bar are not that picky about who flirts with them.
Pluto stops its retrograde and goes forward during the last bit of September. If there are any major placement in your birth chart close to 12 degrees of the cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, Capricorn) you could find that this is a time when you find yourself staring into the abyss, and the abyss staring back into you. Whichever one of you doesn’t blink first is the winner. Unfortunately, in most cases, the smart money is on the abyss...
September 13th: Solar Eclipse in Virgo. There is no need to be unduly superstitious about an eclipse, even though astrologers who should know better tend to do so at times. I’ll be hiding under my bed that day, but only because I’ll be doing some cleaning there. Honest!
Some specific dates to watch out for in August and September (feel free to add a day or two either side): August 4: Venus conjunct Jupiter. Break your diet, break your budget, break your vows... go ahead, do whatever. If it feels good do it, am I right? Just make sure no one is taking pictures and you hide the evidence afterwards. Exuberance is one thing, but facing the consequences is another thing entirely. August 6: Mars trine Saturn. When moody and irritable meet cold and chilly on common ground, miracles can happen. Usually miracles that involve a crowbar. Feel free to overcome long-standing obstacles and remember: bleach will remove the DNA evidence. August 11: Jupiter enters Leo. Have clean and clinical fun with it! August 21st: Sun square Saturn. Are you feeling run down, dejected, or depressed? Yeah, me too. Let’s mope together! August 29th: Full Moon in Pisces. Ever notice that full moon that happens right around the time the kids are going back to school seems a little edgier and crazier than usual? You didn’t imagine that. On the upside, this can be a time when your dreams come true. On the other hand, remember that dream you had where you were being chased by a dinosaur...? September 1st: Venus conjunct Mars. This is often a time when your urges to socialize and / or have sex are dramatically increased. One could lead to the other. If you’re looking for one or the other, try visiting your local bar that night. Believe me: the usual Tuesday

September 16: Jupiter opposite Neptune. Over enthusiastic, meet confused. Confused, meet over enthusiastic. I’m sure you two will get along just fine. September 17th: Mercury turns retrograde. Rather than go once more into detail about how this can scramble your communications, I will just scat-sing into the voice recognition program on my phone to describe it. D doll hanging out waiting a week. B. They looked at you ugh no if you want should be to walk! September 24th: Mars enters Virgo. If there is some area of your life that requires a little elective surgery, here is your scalpel. September 27: Full Moon in Aries. Don’t just lose your composure - lose it completely! Aries doesn’t like doing stuff by half measures. Now finally, by Sign, here are some suggestions as to how you can best handle two months of Venus in a Leo. ^ Aries, March 20 – April 19: Venus is in your 5th House, which represents romance, children, and creativity. Feel free to make as many of any of those as you want. _ Taurus, April 19 – May 20: Venus is in your 4th House, which rules the home environment. It’s a good time to re-decorate, or make a fort out of your couch cushions and hide in there for a couple of months. Its all good. ` Gemini, May 20 – June 21: Leo is your third House, which rules communications. Did I really have to tell you to enjoy talking to people, Gemini? Did I really?
Aug / Sept 2015
Cancer, June 22-July 22: Venus is in your 2nd House, which rules money and material possessions. Go ahead and make as much of it as you can. It’s a great way to insulate yourself from the uglier parts of reality. Leo, July 22 – August 22: Leo, you look marvelous. Really fantastic. Don’t just take my word for it: get out there and everyone else will see the same thing too, if they have any sense that is. Virgo, August 22 – September 22: Venus is in your Twelfth House, which has a lot to do with spirituality and mysticism. You will get great gains from meditation and quietly reflecting on life. This is a good thing, because you are surrounded by idiots. Libra, September 22 – October 23: Venus is in your 11th House of friendships and social situations. Go ahead and organize a party. Better yet: BE the party! Scorpio, October 23 – November 21: This is in your 10th House, which rules work and career. Things should be going well for you in that department, which is great because it needs a whole two months where you won’t have to plot and scheme to assassinate your boss to move up the ladder. Sagittarius, November 22–December 21: Venus is in your 9th House, which rules the higher mind and spirituality and religion. This means you could make great gains from studying spiritual matters, or possibly by trying to pick someone up at a church social. Either way you’re good to go. Capricorn, December 21 – January 19: Venus is in your 8th House which rules both sex and other people’s money. Now could be a good time to rearrange your credit situation, or it could be a good time to get some sex. Please note: do not have sex with other people for their money. that’s illegal. You shouldn’t monetize everything Capricorn! Aquarius, January 19 – February 18: Venus is in your 7th House of partnerships and committed relationships. Now would actually be a good time to get married, if you were the marrying type. Or if you’re already married, why not marry someone else too? Because you’re a little weird that way Aquarius...
Infinity
Pisces, February 18 – March 20: Venus is in your 6th House, which rules health and daily work habits. Frankly, even having Venus in that House doesn’t sound terribly exciting, does it? Better focus on Jupiter entering your 7th House in August instead, and get to work finding someone to marry you.
