Jeff Chen Multimedia Content Producer & Co-Founder Pick Up America Student Conservation Association Alumni Council Cell: (301) 523 - 1257

I spent the summer of 2006 as a park ranger intern at Yosemite National Park. Thanks to the Student Conservation Association, I got a chance to wander through the mountains, learn about the bears, water, granite, and why it all existed together. I got to be alone in the Sierra Nevada – one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. The best part was being able to share all that I learned with park visitors. That’s why, one day, when a friend and I hiked up to the top of Half Dome, we were upset to see trash on the side of the trail. In a national park? A place we all treasure? So my friend and I picked up every single piece of trash on the way back down. It was a simple task. Walk, bend over, pick up trash, repeat. In fact, it’s so simple that lots of other Americans do the same thing in their communities. Here’s the catch. It’s a complete waste of time if there’s no deeper meaning than solely beautification. The trash will come back. A clean community is a good thing, but where does that community’s trash go? A landfill – where natural resources go to sit and do nothing in an anaerobic state. That’s why I started Pick Up America with Davey Rogner – the nation’s first coast-to-coast roadside litter pick-up. We’re here to pick up trash with you in your neighborhood to make a nationwide statement about the amount of wasted resources that come in and out of our lives in minutes. We’re here to open up the discussion about zero waste, get into your schools to talk to kids about recycling and composting. We’re here to take a stand on ending mountaintop removal coal mining for the sake of cheap energy. Just like trash, it’s a waste that does harm in our communities. Our throwaway mentality and our disposable culture are literally changing our landscape and our health. This economy built on endless consumption is bound to fail. Do I want to be a part of that failure? Absolutely not. So, I’m gonna Pick Up America with my friends and have a fun time doing it. So far, we’ve picked up 97,000 pounds of litter across 860 miles of road. And my only hope is that you come walk a few miles with us. The mission of Pick Up America is to pick up trash across the country and encourage a transition toward zero-waste. We plan to be on the road ‘til Autumn 2012! In 2010, Pick Up America picked up about 75,000 pounds of trash across 735 miles of road, one continuous route stretching from the Atlantic to Southern Ohio. We’re on the road now heading West with a group of volunteers. Get in touch if you’d like to come volunteer or form a partnership!

The Call of Consciousness by Marcia Cantrell Consciousness is the ability of each human being. We keep hearing about consciousness from many sources and authors. What does consciousness really mean? Consciousness is the true revelation of what God is all about. Love, Peace and Harmony. Without this “trinity” life has no purposeful meaning. One may say, “What is so important about love, peace and harmony?” I say, “Look around you.” It doesn’t take buy a fraction of time to realize the lack of the “trinity” abides throughout the world. Where are the American Armed Forces at this time? A closer look reveals that we don’t have to go to the Middle East to see what a lack of harmony. How many dysfunctional government agencies do you come in contact with from town, city, state and federal levels? Where is the unity?

It doesn’t matter what your religious or spiritual beliefs are. We can all work together to bring love, peace and harmony to Earth. In his book, “The Night of the Last Katun 2012 Maya” author Ac Tah asks: “Help us create the frequency for unity, peace and harmony. Every day at 12 pm (noon in the center of the country) and at 10 pm, do the following for 21 minutes: Take some time off and pray and meditate for peace, unity and the awakening of the consciousness, according to your own beliefs.” Ac Tah says, “The time for fear is over, we have no more time for ignorance, this is the time for mutual understanding.”

How many dysfunctional families do you know? Families whose members do not honor and love each other. Families who can not stay together because there is no love, peace and harmony? How many children have suffered from the negative impact of lack of love, peace and harmony? Sadly, many of our children today have never experienced the positive energy of love.

Are you willing to join the many awakened who are making their life’s mission to assist others in the awakening to the consciousness of unity?

“What can we do about this?”, one might ask ourselves. One can do great things to bring about love, peace and harmony. FIRST, remember you are God and a part of God at the same time. Through God, all things are possible. Pray, meditate and seek guidance.

Marcia is an LISW and works as a mental health therapist. She is a Certified Hypnotherapist, Certified Medical Intuitive, Seichim Master, Spiritual Consultant and Spiritual Medium. Her practice is Namaste Hypnosis and Spirits of Light Holistic Centre.

Be an example of the “trinity”. Love yourself first, then love others. Do you send out negative vibrations or positive vibrations? Do you think about or speak about others with criticism or love? Do you uplift them or bring them down? Each time our thoughts are loving, we raise our vibration. If our thoughts are not from love, we lower our vibrational level.

www.spiritsoflight.zoomshare.com

Love generates Peace. Peace generates Harmony. Knowing this , how can we bring consciousness to others? How can we expand this consciousness to affect the Earth as a whole? Each time we are a positive example of the “trinity” we affect another. Many are seeking, many are in the midst of being awakened. Are we assisting these seekers? We are to work together, unite to bring this message to others: “We are all one, we are all one with God, We are all connected.”

Summer is for FUN! by Charley Sky

Do you recall when you were young how much fun summer was? Please humor me a moment and engage in a little mental exercise. Close your eyes and take three real deep breaths, breathing in deep and blowing out hard. This will quiet the limbic region of your brain and move you into the frontal cortex, where peace, and your inner child resides.

Remember, summer is for fun. Enjoy the sights and sounds, the sun, the soft summer rains, fireworks, grill outs, the whole shebang. Have a blast, why not? Make it the finest summer of your life. Make it the summer you dragged your inner child back onto the scene and let the part of you that REALLY knows how to enjoy summer come alive again.

Now, in your minds eye, float back in time to a moment when you were young and care free. Move back to a summer memory that makes you feel like a kid again. What were you doing? Perhaps a family picnic, a day at the beach, or just hanging out with a friend or two in the lazy summer sun. Feel the fun, taste it, be in that moment.

Go out and buy some soap bubbles, a hula hoop, or maybe even a new bike. Make it count, don’t just read these words, go for it, and go big. Have a summer like none other. And, if you want to really do it right, involve your friends and neighbors. If you have a giant breakthrough, something you want to share, drop me a line. I would be happy to hear from you. Email me at icandoitmind@aol. com Have a superb summer dear readers, and please know I am always sending love and healing your way.

Sometimes we get so caught up in paying bills, keeping commitments, doing our duty as adults, that we lose of sight of a huge part of what summer is about, in effect, having FUN! Think for a moment about the first soap bubbles you ever blew, or the first time you saw fireworks, or felt the mud between your toes as you walked barefoot after a big rain storm. Just by reading these words you have brought the inner kid closer to the surface. Remember long bike rides on hot summer days, as you rode along with a friend talking about what you would do when you were all grown up and free? Recall the good times that you swore you would have and do yourself a favor. If you are not having them, have them, and have them in abundance. If you already are, have even more.

6

Oh, and as an aside, but of great importance, please make it a point to stop in and see one of the advertisers listed here in Infinity. These are real fine people, and would love the opportunity to show you just how committed to their customers they are. Also, every day try to pass along a smile or hug, or both. It can make a huge difference in another’s life. I send all of you peace, love and healing energy.

Love, Charley Sky

How To Supercharge Your New Habits

Making Changes Easier by William Molitor, BCH, CI What do you want to have new or different in your life? What do you want to improve, change or cast off about yourself? These are the types of questions that I ask my clients every day. What I have discovered over the past decade of asking these questions is that most people do not know what they do want; they only know what they do not want in their lives. They want to lose weight, stop smoking, overcome anxiety, fear and stress issues. They can go on and on explaining to me what it is that they do not want to do or experience in their life. However when asked what they do want they freeze up, they have a difficult time finding the right words to describe what their true desires are. In some cases they simple state that they do not know what they want other than not to experience the issue that they came to me for. In order for you to make the changes you want in your life regardless of what those changes may be, you must first know what the results of these changes mean to you personally. When a client comes to my office and asks me to help him/her lose weight using hypnosis he/she will fall into two general categories; the first category is someone who can tell me what he/she wants, and how he/she wants to look and feel. Those clients can tell me what will be different or improved in their life when they reach their goal. Those people will normally see rapid and dramatic changes in a relatively short time and these changes become permanent. The second category is made up of those who can only tell me what they don’t want. They say things like I don’t want to be fat, I don’t want to eat junk food, I don’t want to be tired all the time and so forth. In the short term, they normally will see significant changes but then just as quickly they will return to their old habits. The term Law of Attraction has become so commercialized over the past decade that most people have given up on the concept completely. The idea itself is a powerful thing to understand and use. Hypnotists take the Law of Attraction and supercharge it for those people who know what they want. The key, of course, goes back to knowing what it is that you do want as opposed to what you do not want. When you want to make a change - whether it is a small or large change - being able to see what the end result of this change

Infinity

means to you is very important. That is why the imagination is such an important part of any hypnotic session that I conduct. Often, people will resist making a change because they can not see or imagine the positive result of their efforts. They are so focused on what they do not want that they keep their full attention on the negative feelings that surround that which they do not want. This focus on the unwanted will delay if not completely inhibit you from making a positive change. When you shift your attention to that which you desire you will find that you will quickly begin to see results, you will notice that you spend more of your time and energy moving in a direction of those wanted desires and less and less time stuck in inaction and the negative feelings of what you do not want. So if you find yourself delaying, putting off, or dragging your feet when it comes to taking the actions that will create a change it may be the perfect time to change your point of focus. Hypnosis and hypnotherapeutic processes are all about your point of focus and this is the core reason that when hypnosis is done correctly people will see rapid and permanent changes in anything that they wish. What is commonly called a hypnotherapeutic processes is simply the use of hypnosis to help you tap into that part of your mind, generally called the sub-conscious mind, that stores and runs the programming that creates both good or bad habits. A habit is simply a thought or action that you have done repeatedly and therefore has become automatic. When you gain access to that part of your mind you are able to see the thoughts that create any unwanted actions and feeling. This gives you the capability to choose new thoughts that promote the actions and feelings that you wish to take or experience. Because you are in a heightened state of awareness these new choices are acted upon by you much faster and become permanent faster than if you where to just try and force yourself to do something over and over again in hopes of creating a new habit. So the next time that you consider making changes in your life you now have a clear picture of what you can do to supercharge your decisions. Baker Chiropractic Jared Fox’s Testimonial In April of 2010 I suffered from major low back pain. So much so that I had to walk bent over to be somewhat comfortable. I was referred to Doctor Baker by a fellow co-worker. I scheduled my appointment and in I went. Little did I know this would be a life-changing event not only for me but my entire family. Besides low back pain I also suffered from dizziness, blurred vision and chronic muscle fatigue and tightness. After months of prior research I secretly believed I had MS. Well, at least that’s what all the symptoms on web MD told me. After my first visit I felt immediate relief. After only a month of adjustments at three times week and lower back exercises given by Dr. Bakers staff, my episodes of blurred vision, dizziness and muscle fatigue seemed to literally disappear. Oh yeah..... I was walking tall! Later that year my youngest son was diagnosed with his 9th ear infection. I made Dr. Baker aware of the situation and he immediately said he could help. After several conversations with

my wife she felt very uncomfortable having our nine month old adjusted. So.......we were referred by his pediatrician to have tubes put in his ears. After only two weeks his ear infections were back. We hated seeing our little guy in pain. My wife finally agreed to have him evaluated by Dr. Baker. That week we brought both of our sons in. After only one adjustment his ear infection was gone. Both my sons have now been seeing Dr. Baker for several months. Still no ear infections and my six year old has excelled drastically in his sports. Dr. Baker not only helped my entire family regain our health, he taught me how eat clean and exercise correctly. In only four short months I lost 50lbs, 5 inches off my waist and went from 33% body fat to 18%. I also was finally able to do my first pull up of my adult life. Sad but true! Dr. Baker is not your average Doctor. He goes above and beyond and practices what he preaches. I am glad to have found his wonderful practice. I personally feel that not only have I found the BEST doctor out there but I have also gained a great friend and mentor. I recommend everyone I know to him. I have learned that traditional medicine such as painkillers and antibiotics are NOT the answer. I believe in everything this man preaches. Don’t just make one visit and hope it helps. Continue on with his health maintenance plan and you will be a new person. I know I am!!!!! You will enjoy every visit with him and his incredible staff. Thank you again to Baker Family Chiropractic!!!!!!!

Outside Looking In by Cynthia M. Brown Nine years ago this June, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I was 41 years old. I did not have a family history of breast cancer. I was not a smoker. I was, according to my doctors, in the same cardiovascular shape of a marathon runner 15 years my junior. That was the good news. The bad news was that I had lymph involvement and a pretty nasty cancer. The bad news was also that, after nine months of treatment, my body would age 15-20 years. I had to think about so many things. Did I want traditional treatment? What about alternative modalities? I asked my doctors. They were all very open in their assessments. One doctor said that chemo was chemo, lab created or natural. He said I had to make a choice and then follow through on that choice with 100 percent commitment. After learning that my extremely highly estrogen receptive cancer was also extremely aggressive, I chose conventional medicine. I had a lump-lymphectomy, six months of chemotherapy and 48 radiation treatments. I did all right. Granted, I developed chemo brain—as a former chef I like to refer to this as Swiss Cheese Brain-holes in the memory. I have some permanent neuropathy in my feet. I developed mild lymph edema in my left arm and breast cavity. I had third degree burns. I spent two years with drugs designed to help enhance circulation and tissue nerve sensitivity in the burn area. I did regain about 78% nerve sensation. Still, all in all, considering the very serious likelihood that I would probably have died five years ago without my choice in treatment, I came out on the plus side of things. Eight weeks ago, my mother was diagnosed with late stage, terminal ovarian cancer. She is 69 years old. She did extremely well in surgery. The doctors were able to remove 100% of the diseased tissue. She has been told they think her chances of just reaching remission are about 80%. They will not say, at this point, what her long-term prognosis is. She is undergoing the standard chemo-cocktail and, true to her nature, she has entered a drug trial. Nine years ago, from 600 miles away, she had to listen to my struggle. Now, from that same 600 miles, I must watch and listen to her struggle. The difference is this: I had some of the drugs she is having. I know how bad it is. I know how hard it is to go every week and sit in a chair while your life is at risk. The treatment is risky every time. The drugs can cause a reaction at any moment. I know the bone pain. I was lucky with respect to the nausea. I didn’t have much. She has a drug that almost always causes nausea and sickness. I know the mood swings caused by the

10

steroids. I know the foggy brain and memory lapses that frustrate and confuse… I find it more agonizing to watch knowing what I know than I imagined. It is all the more agonizing because, unlike my end result, cancer-free for nine years and counting, her end result is just to buy time until the desire for quality of life outweighs the desire for quantity of days. I find it almost unbearable to listen to her telling herself as much as she is telling me that she can keep doing her normal routine once she “gets used to the drugs’ affect on her.” I said the same thing to myself until the reality of my ravaged body made me face the facts. Cancer is hard. It is hard because unless it has begun to break down a system, we do not look or feel sick. Cancer is hard because, except for hair loss and changes in our skin, if we are not bedridden, we appear pretty normal. Cancer is hard because unless you live with us, you don’t see that after we do the hard work of taking a shower, we need a nap so we have enough strength to get dressed, so we can nap before tackling the stairs so we can sit down and catch our breath before eating… Cancer is hard because everything we know about ourselves is no longer true. A rash we have always had might be a drug reaction. Watering eyes might be our seasonal allergy to grass or it might mean something else. Cancer is hard because the soil we love to work in becomes the enemy-a carrier for bacteria. Water, except when bathing harbors all kinds of opportunities for infection. Cancer is hard because inside we want to be who we have always been but we are not and never will be again. Everything is suspect. Every ache, pain, skin discoloration, everything. Cancer is hard because we live in this world turned upside down and yet we are supposed to try to maintain as much of a normal routine as possible. We are supposed to try to be stress free. We are supposed to stay positive. We have steroids making us moodier than a teenager coursing through our bodies. We cannot do our normal routines. We cannot even play in the dirt! Our lives become limited and we are told not to get behind the eight ball of depression! Cancer is hard because we do not want you to know all of this. We do not want you to look at us with that strange, strained expression that rests somewhere between pity and fear. We do not want you to be sorry for us. We don’t want anything from you, really. We just want life and we don’t know how to tell you that without risking ourselves, our own private sorrow and anger and yours. I know all of this from experience. I have tried to gently prepare my mother for all of this. It is impossible unless you live it. And it is so much harder to watch from the eyes of experience than it was to live it. I have also tried to prepare her for the gifts that this disease brings as well. Cancer makes one really take stock of what is

June / July 2011

important. It means prioritizing everything. It means taking time for ourselves. It means deciding to focus on the inner world. My mother is a wonderful poet who hasn’t written in years. She has always wanted to study photography. The expense of the equipment and the space required for film development before the digital age prevented her from pursuing that. My mother has always wanted to write children’s books. She loves to tell the stories of her pets from their perspective as well as from her own. Cancer is also a threshing ground that forces one to winnow out those habits, possessions and people, that do not serve us. This process is sometimes very painful but it is also very freeing. At 69, my mother is in that phase of her life sometimes referred to as “the bare bones phase”. It is a time for lightening the load as one prepares for that final, inevitable transition. Her disease is hastening the process. I hope, that as she begins this new phase of her life, a life living with a life-ending illness, she will be able to divest herself of those things that no longer serve her. I hope that as she does this, she lives long enough to enjoy a life lightened by the process itself. Watching this from the outside has certainly made me take another look at myself, inside nine years later. Once again, cancer has gifted me. Thank you mom. I love you.

Homegrown Medicine by Wes Duren

Prior to the emergence of modern healthcare, and the age of lab inspired pharmaceuticals, humankind acquired relief from all manner of maladies through the use of plants found in nature. Herbs have been widely used around the world since the dawn of man for their spiritual qualities induced through ritual, as well as a valuable food source and therapeutic panacea . Dating back to at least 1500 BC, written accounts of medicinal plants were made. Many herbs recorded in China, the Middle East, India and Egypt were considered sacred and thought to possess powers that could ward off evil spirits, or enable humans to connect with the spirit realm to cure injury and illness. By around 500 BC, great physicians such as Hippocrates, “The Father of Medicine”, began to separate age-old plant lore from scientific observation, distinguishing herbal healing qualities from supernatural phenomenon. Hippocrates firmly believed that we should, “Let thy food be thy medicine and thy medicine thy food”, which set the stage for a deeper exploration into the natural healing attributes of plants. During the middle ages, the use of herbal medicine led to the establishment of renowned medical schools, deepening our understanding of natural plant medicine, and leading to a rapid growth of pharmacists around the world. By the 1930s, still around 90 percent of medicines sold over the

12

counter in Western countries were herbal in origin. Only in the last 50 years has chemically derived medicine become the norm. Conventional medications can be expensive, habit forming, are frequently used to treat symptoms rather than the root of illness, are known to produce damaging side affects and can cause dangerous counteractions when used with other medications. Naturally occurring medicines, aka herbs, more often than not, work synergistically, stimulating our natural healing abilities. Natural medicine can be cost affective when grown organically, and work to gently and holistically restore our bodies to health and wellness. From salves, tinctures, teas, powders, poultices, gargles, oils and compresses; natural medicinal plants take on many healing forms, which can be used to treat most injuries and ailments. An incredible array of these attractive and useful plants can be grown in your yard in both containers and gardens to provide year-round interest and instant access to natures medicine cabinet. Whether you decide to weave medicinal plants into an existing landscape, or devote a location of your yard to an all out “Healing Garden”, you have many exciting and easy-to-grow options to choose from that will cater to your healing needs.

Growing homegrown medicine can be an extremely satisfying process that will help you to not only create a greater bond with the plants you‘re growing, but with the earth itself. Organically growing your own herb garden eliminates the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides that may be harmful to humans, wildlife, soil, water and air, and ultimately, create more sustainable growing conditions for your plants. In addition, organic herbs help to attract many birds, bugs and other beautiful beneficial garden allies that will fend off pests and increase your medicinal herb yields. Not only do organically grown herbs taste better, but they also have a greater concentration of vital minerals, nutrients and enzymes, which help to promote optimal human health. The secret to a healthy herb garden is to work with nature. Build your herb garden with high quality compost, which is teeming with trillions of tiny living helpmates that will act as life enhancing companions to your herbs. If growing in a container, select a high quality organic potting soil. Feed your soil, whether in pot or garden, and your soil helpmates will feed your plants. Herbs benefit from this addition of compost probiotics, and you can sustain them with organic fertilizers such as poultry manure, sea kelp, worm castings and liquid fish. Prior to planting, inoculate your herbs with a root powdering of valuable Mycorrhizal Fungi, which helps your plants increase nutrient and moisture uptake and lessen disease. Observe your garden space and be assured that you have adequate sunlight. Most herbs require 6 plus hours of sunlight a day. Select herbs that will peacefully coexist with each other to repel pests, enrich the soil, protect and support one another and create interest that tantalizes and stimulates all the senses. Consider the size of your gardening space and plant accordingly. If herbs are planted too closely, they will compete with one another, weakening your plants natural defense system and potential harvest. Start slow and choose a garden size that is realistic to your timeline. A 4’x8’ raised bed planted with a variety of medicinal and edible plants, will require 2 hours of work per week on average. Once planted, garden beds benefit from an annual 2” application of one-year aged, composted leaves; which look rich and black, helps hold soil moisture, reduce weeds, resist erosion and eventually breaks down into organic matter that becomes oil for the soil, offering enormous benefit for all the plants lucky enough to be growing in it. There are well over 10,000 herbs with known medicinal qualities, and you can grow of wealth of them in your front yard and backyard gardens. The below compilation of herbs will work well in your containers and gardens, adding both function and interest. We implore you to explore the wide world of medicinal plants beyond this list, to discover other exciting and useful plants to grow and enjoy. Finding Money and Meaning in Today’s Economy by Jean Jeffers

4.Find various church activities that speak to the needs of family members. 5.Share kids with different families for date night, and trade around , rather than having a baby sitter.

Have you ever heard the saying, “Money isn’t everything?” Our modern consumer may not agree.

6.Put loose change in a piggy bank to use expenses.

Beset by rising costs, lowered sale prices on housing, reduced retirement funds, and a mountain of credit card debt, consumers have become all too aware of a world filled with money issues.

7.Find a way to contribute to life as well as have low cost activities. This will go a long way toward dealing with expenses. Find volunteer activities that work for you.

Today economy and frugal are the buzzwords of our society. Just how do we make sense of a world of shrinking economy, and still find meaning, even joy, in life? The first thing that must happen, is aligning our spending with our pocketbooks. L. Take the time to determine where your money is going, keep a log of expenses for a few months, download bank records, and see where the funds are being spent. 2. Make a budget in line with the income available, being sure to save some for yourself. Mary Hunt, a financial advice expert, and author of the previously published money management newsletter, Cheapskate Monthly, outlined a good rule of thumb. It is 10-10-80. Ten percent goes to savings, ten percent to charity, and eighty percent is left to live on. And the eighty percent includes money to pay down credit cards. It may seem impossible to reduce spending to eighty percent of income but getting down to brass tacks with expenses, making every penny count, cutting out some expenses, may help. It is a must to have a savings, preferably with an emergency fund of eight months living expenses, plus a retirement fund. The other is building joy and meaning in life while scaling back. How do we find meaning without extra expense? Enlist the help of family members and friends. 1. Get movies from the library for movie night. 2.Try the old fashioned idea of having friends over for chips and a coke or other snack, rather than eating out. It does cut down on costs. 3.Have a potluck for Sunday brunch.

14

for extra

8.Look at ways to give back. Do something to contribute in your community. Be thankful for all the gifts and privileges we as American citizens have, and be willing to share with the less fortunate. Gratitude attracts prosperity and makes it easier to give and receive a helping hand. In 2007, I found myself on Social Security at the time of the financial debacle in our country. I struggled for a number of months. Credit card debt kept rising as I refused to deal with my situation. Finally, with about ten thousand dollars of debt, and an overburdened spending plan, I began facing my dilemma. I hunted for books on finance and found Mary Hunt and Suze Orman. I read all I could find on the subject. I followed what was suggested: I wrote down my expenses for a while and saw where my money was going. I made a budget, a rock bottom, no nonsense one. I cut out cable, stopped a land phone in favor of a cell, turned up the air in summer and reduced the heat in winter, and began making my own dish washing detergent to cut down on expenses. I used a service like Coupon Mom, this one, Grocery Game .com which helped me cut down on expenses at the grocery. I contacted my leasing agent and requested a cut in my cat care costs and received a fifty percent decrease. I took a cheaper parking situation at my building. Once the changes were in place, I began tracking expenses and thinking carefully before making a purchase. I use the library for books, sell some books at the used book store, buy clothes at a consignment shop as well as purchasing necessary furnishings there. And I put as much money as possible on credit cards to pay them down as fast as I can. I eat out less frequently and I do my shopping all in one trip to reduce gas consumption.

June / July 2011

What once I thought I could not possibly do, I do a bit better now. It is not perfect, I don’t always follow my own advice, but I am making progress. I offer this challenge: look at your budget, see how to cut down to 10-10-80 and try for a few months. Evaluate the progress. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. I am thankful for the challenge to get my financial house in order. Much of the world lives in poverty, we here have much, no matter any limited finances. All this works best of course, with family cooperation and a willing spirit. It is a challenge and it could be fun. Finding ways to enhance life, to appreciate the moment, could mean a lot as well. Relax, Renew, Enjoy... Taking Lessons from Our Animal Friends by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger The theme for this issue revolves around relaxation and enjoyment as a way of renewing ourselves. Who among us hasn’t, as a child, enjoyed laying in the cool grass on a summer’s afternoon soaking up the sun’s rays? How about dangling our feet in the cool water of a lake, a stream, or even a swimming pool? Do you remember lying out under the stars trying to find pictures of animals and people? As children, we seemed able to easily relax into such wonderful experiences. As an adult, some of us think of bugs and sunburn if lying in the grass even pops into our heads! Or, instead of stopping to take our shoes off and dangle our feet in a stream, we think about possible pollution in the water, or about getting to the other side and getting on with our walk. Our animals can be great teachers for us, because they model some of the very behaviors that gave us endless hours of pleasure as children. When I am working from home on a sunny day, I occasionally glance out of my window to see what my animals are up to. They, unlike their poor misguided human, are connecting with Mother Earth and Father Sky in their own unique way of relaxing and renewal. The horses are usually napping in the sun, rolling in the cool mud, or casually looking for a stray blade of grass. The dogs are snoozing in the sunshine or slowly sniffing their way across the yard, enjoying all the smells. Our cat Diana is out there with them, either napping alongside one of the dogs or on top of a fence post surveying her domain. Sometimes I wonder who the more intelligent species in our household is. The cats say they are.

reminded of connection to Earth and Sky, to our world, in a very direct and personal way. May I challenge each of you to observe the animals that you live with, pick out one behavior or activity that they do when relaxing (outside if possible), and actually do that activity WITH them? Notice how you feel before and after. To add a new twist to the exercise, ask them to share with you how they are feeling, what they are seeing, smelling, tasting, and feeling while they are engaged in the activity. You can even ask them to actually allow you to experience the activity in the same way they do. We once observed a couple of lizards belonging to a friend reacting to a train passing nearby. We asked them to show us what they were doing and they allowed us to experience their absolute enjoyment of the VIBRATION of the train. It was like an amusement park ride for them! When you are done, hopefully you will have relaxed, breathed deeply, and experienced being one with the Universe... and spent some quality moments with your beloved pet. Lost and Found ... good endings. For those who live in Anderson and Mt. Washington in Cincinnati, you may remember seeing signs up about a lost Bull Mastiff named Dozer last April and early May. We are glad to report that Dozer was found in Woodland Mound Park over three weeks after he was lost. This dog is alive and will recover due to the help, dedication, and sheer determination on the part of a LOT of people. Thank you!

Animal Communication & Wellness Services Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger

How do your animals model relaxation and rejuvenation? Is it an activity you can join them in, just to see what it feels like? While I do draw the line at rolling in the mud with the horses, I do sometimes stand with them in the early morning or late evening and just enjoy the sensation of being STILL, of noticing the smells and sounds, the wind, and the sky. I sit on our back porch and enjoy a few quiet moments watching the sun set with our dog Obi. It is through our animals that we are

H ave a Carefree Summer by David Mahen Summer! We’ve all been waiting for the warm embrace of summer, when our gardens will flourish and our hearts will be glad that winter is now behind us. Memories of summers gone by fill us with anticipation as we make our plans for the season ahead. It’s a time for family and a time for fun. We look ahead in anticipation that can’t be drowned by April’s abundance of rain or the cool wet start of May. Although it superficially feels as if summer will never get here, at a deeper level we know its arrival is near. Our circadian rhythms follow the longer days and shorter nights. People everywhere are talking about memories of summers gone by that were filled with outings, adventures, and lazy summer days. They’re embracing the thoughts of new adventures and outings. The longing for the feel of soft grass under bare feet and the warm sun on faces grows stronger every day. Gardens have been planted, mulch has been laid, and green lawns have been neatly trimmed. But for some, the summer ahead will fall short of expectations and leave them only their memories to enjoy. For them, the world has changed. This last year brought them a decline in their health. They suffer from chronic pain, limited mobility, and other health conditions that limit activity. Sometimes remedies are found in surgery or physical therapy, and other times in a regimen of prescription drugs. And sometimes they’re told to live with their pain and that medicines can only do so much.

Second, drink more water. Dr. F. Batmanghelidj has written and researched extensively on water and has this to say: “You’re not sick; you’re thirsty. Don’t treat thirst with medication. Water prevents and helps to cure arthritis. Rheumatoid joint pain - arthritis - is a signal of water shortage in the painful joint. It can affect the young as well as the old.” Third, accelerate healing with energy work. There are many forms of energy healing, including Qigong, Reiki, Quantum Touch, Crystal Healing, Aromatherapy, and more. The benefits of energy healing have been well documented. Pain is often eliminated, swelling and inflammation reduced, and mobility increased. So if you aren’t looking forward to a summer filled with fun and activities because of pain or discomfort, call David at 513-276-2615 to learn how to change your summer outlook. Summer doesn’t have to be filled with memories of times gone by – it can be filled with making new memories of fun times with friends and family. About the Author: Rev. David Mahen is an Energy Healer and Life Coach. He resides in Wilmington Ohio and is a founding Member of the Blue Ash Spiritual Center where he teaches and heals.

Is your summer fun in jeopardy of being lost this year due to chronic pain and limited mobility? Don’t give up! Chronic pain can come in many forms, like fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines, back pain, tendonitis, or a frozen shoulder. There are many medications that offer relief from pain. But some are ineffective, others dull the pain but don’t cure the conditions, and some have disturbing side effects. There are many alternative methods available that can help you get moving again and enjoy your summer. How can we reduce pain and increase mobility? The first three things are so simple that you might think, “These can’t possibly work.” But they do, and they’re so easy that you can get started right away. First, breathe more. That’s it - just breathe more. We tend to be shallow breathers, taking in just enough air to feel comfortable. You can’t live without air, but you can live with too little, depriving your body of what it needs to stay well.

Dream: I was standing in my pj’s and I was looking out a big picture window and it had snowed the night before. The snow was beautiful-pristine. It covered trees, cars, the street and the yards. It was glistening and it was like new snow-no-footprints or tire tracks. TMV The window represents how you view the world. You see the beauty, but you see it outside, outside of yourself and your life, but your spirit is showing you that it is right in front of you. The life you see, the life you truly desire is available to you. It is untrampled, clear, clean, and fresh. You can have that life. It’s waiting for you. Make the decision..change your clothes, put on a coat and step out into what your life could be.

Dream Interpretations Situation: I’ve been in a relationship for the last 22 years; we’ve never been married, just lived together. I’m falling apart, I feel like dying inside. I decided to take my sister’s advice and stay with her for awhile in another state.

20

I’ve been in the same job for 13 years. I’m at the point that it’s just a paycheck and I hate it. I spend all day on Sunday dreading Monday so much that I make myself sick. I want to do something that speaks to my soul, my creativity; something that excites me and makes me want to get up in the morning. Dream: I get on an elevator and I thought I had pushed the button for the 20th floor. The elevator starts to move but I can’t tell if it’s going up or down. Then it stops. There is a small window in the door and I look out and there’s a man that I used to work with. He’s wearing a welder’s helmet. I can’t see his face, but I know that it’s him. I’m screaming for him to open the door, he’s ignoring me. Then, I’m on the floor of the elevator crumpled up in a fetal position. Anonymous You know you have high expectations for yourself and your life (wanting to push the button for the 20th floor), but you can’t tell if you’re going up or down...you’re just riding along. It’s interesting that you didn’t see the man’s face...you just KNEW it was him. You’re screaming and banging on the door, but you, the you behind the mask, doesn’t hear you. The helmet represents your trying to hide, you think it’s a protection for you. It has a visor so you can have just a peek at what could be. Should I go up..should I go down? Your Spirit feels crumpled: it’s tired from struggling, that scared child inside (the fetal position) is the one who is afraid. Let the helmet represent safety..that you’ll be safe out here. Your Spirit is telling you there is no confusion...only that you haven’t made a decision yet. We are deciders more than doers; once a decision is made, the doing becomes easy and confusion disappears. Change your protective helmet into a safety helmet-knowing that you’ll be safe, make a decision of where you want to go and THEN enjoy the ride...Up!

About the Author: Lynda Rae has been studying the Spiritual aspect of life (mainly her own) for many, many years. While learning for and about herself, she found that she had a natural gift for listening, interpreting dreams, counseling others and helping them discover their true self (as scary as that can be). As a substitute teacher for ‘at-risk’ students, she found that she had a real talent for getting the students to talk about their lives and discovered that her teaching style was more about inspiring others to realize their potential than it was about English, Math and Social Studies. She is now in the process of earning her Doctorate of Metaphysical Psychology (Mpsy.D) through the University of Sedona and is excited to be sharing what she has learned.

Reiki Healing -

A Unique Experience by Rosemary Gauck

Reiki is a form of spiritual healing that originated in Japan. It works by drawing on “rei-ki” or universal energy, which is channeled to areas of need. Giving and receiving Reiki is a gentle and relaxing experience. The purpose of a Reiki treatment is to strengthen a person’s energy system. Clients are treated fully clothed as they lie on a massage table in a private room. During the Reiki session, the practitioner gently rests his or her hands on the recipient in various patterns that follow the body’s energy centers. All positions are performed with the client’s privacy taken into full consideration; a hands-off approach is an option if the client prefers it.

negative emotional states, for relieving pain and for treating stress-related conditions, such as insomnia, fatigue or tension headaches. Reiki stimulates the immune system and decreases recovery time. Anyone can become a Reiki practitioner in a relatively short period of time. Reiki is taught at different levels, progressing from first degree Reiki, to second degree Reiki, which allows the practitioner to send distant healing, and finally to third degree Reiki (Reiki Master). It is important to allow time for hands-on experiences between degrees. You need to do some self-treatments as well as treating others so that you feel comfortable with your connections to Reiki energy before you move on to the next level. The length of time between degrees depends on how comfortable you are with your Reiki abilities. Call Rosemary Gauck for a Reiki treatment today and experience “The Joy of Reiki.” If you would like to learn how to practice Reiki, inquire about one of Rosemary’s Reiki I or Reiki II classes. Call 513-471-3731 or email rosemarygauck@yahoo.com for a Reiki treatment or sign up for a Reiki class. Prices are very reasonable! Rosemary is located in the Incline District (5 minutes from downtown Cincinnati) and is a Reiki Master/Teacher that has studied Reiki (Usui & Tibetan system) with a Traditional Reiki Master since 2005 and completed her Reiki Master and Advanced Reiki Training studies from the International Center for Reiki Training. She has studied Reiki Drumming at The Infinite Light Healing Studies Center in Sedona, AZ. She is also certified in Integrated Energy Therapy and Crystal Healing.

Reiki treatments are a non-invasive form of healing. Reiki soothes away troubles and traumas in a peaceful way. Certain hand positions are used to dissolve energy blocks and rebalance the body. You can treat yourself with Reiki, as well as others, and you can also use it to treat sick plants and animals and in the environment to guard against negative energy. Reiki involves channeling energy from practitioner to patient, enhancing the body’s natural ability to heal itself. It is a natural, hands-on healing method that touches us on all levels: body, mind, and spirit. Giving and receiving Reiki is a relaxing experience. It is particularly effective for calming and soothing

Arthritis, The Mask of Pain by Paul F. Fulk,

D.C., F.A.S.A. “I have a pain in my knee”. But your doctor says you have “arthritis in your knee”. Pain in your joints whether it be in your spine, knee , shoulder , hands or feet does not necessarily mean “arthritis”. As is commonly thought of joint destruction. First of all, the word “arthritis” means inflammation in the joint and or anywhere in your body. “Artho” means joint. “It is” means inflammation of. So that is the meaning of the word. It does not describe what kind it is. There are several kinds of medically termed arthritis conditions. One, is rheumatoid arthritis. This syndrome is very devastating to the joints. It can cause many disfiguring conditions of the joints, most evident in the hands. However, it can be seen and experienced in any joint in the body. The dictionary defines it as a disease of the joints. One other common condition is gouty arthritis. The syndrome has to do with the liver and how well it processes protein called purine metabolism. An excess of uric acid is generated in the liver and the body cannot unload it in the urine or feces. It affects the joints, particularly the big toe. One will experience a very sharp pain in the end of the big toe as a sign of the excess of uric acid in your system. Eating pork products is the major offender that produces an excess amount of uric acid in your system. Gout is very often misdiagnosed as rheumatoid arthritis because the symptoms are very similar in each condition. However, the treatment to change the condition is very different. Osteoarthritis is a condition that is very destructive to the joints in the spine. It is understood that because of the alteration of the position of the vertebrae, the brain will try to heal an abnormal distortion of the spine. By laying down fibrin that later becomes calcified which produces spurs on the vertebrae. This has been termed or named “osteoarthritis”.It has been said that every one over the age of 60 has some osteoarthritis or osteophytes that had formed on the spine. If a person maintains their spine through Chiropractic manipulation, this situation can be reduced greatly. There are two forms of osteoarthritis,

22

primary and secondary. Primary appears to have occurred for no known cause. However my theory has been that because of stress the base of the spine gets torque sideways causing the spine to tilt or distort from its’ normal position. The body will try to heal such a distortion. The ligaments that hold the spine in place get overstretched which the brain will try to correct by creating a fibrous scar on the edge of the vertebrae. This is known as a spur on the rim of the vertebral body. Because of the distortion more fibrin will be laid down unless the correction is made with the spine curve. If this is not accomplished, the vertebrae will fuse together. It is unfortunate that sometimes this has been allowed so that no correction can be made. Muscle paralysis usually happens as a result. There can be no correction at that point. Secondary osteoarthritis happens usually as a result of an injury, infection or previous fractures. A lot of pain is usually the end result. However, there is some thought that exercise helps to reduce the pain. Bracing certain joints, injections in the joints sometimes helps the pain, taking certain vitamins such as chondroitin sulfate and glucosamine aides in the repair of cartilage, white willow bark is a natural aspirin that will not cause bleeding in the stomach and chiropractic manipulation to the spine and joints helps to relieve the compression on the nerves that are causing the pain. As far as rheumatoid arthritis is concerned I have found it to be caused by candida albicans fungus. In fact Dr. F. C. Odds stated that all “it is” is candida albicans. So he is saying all inflammatory conditions are caused by this yeast bacteria or fungus. Even Dr. Tullio Simoncini from Rome, Italy says in his book, Cancer is a Fungus, that candida albicans is also the cause of cancer. I have seen many cases of rheumatoid arthritis lately as a result of the presence of candida in the blood of my patients. Some were in the early stages and some were more advanced. By removing the candida albicans from the blood stream and getting it to return to the small intestine, the spleen is relieved of the Rheumatoid factors. Due to the fact that so many foods we eat have steroids and antibiotics in them provides the delivery mechanism for candida to do it’s damage. I have observed through the microscope the action of candida actually tearing the walls of red and white blood cells apart. Thus the ability of the immune system to fight foreign invaders is severely compromised. Viruses are then allowed to run rampant throughout your system causing flus and cancer. Without interferon you

June / July 2011

do not have any protection of the damage viruses can do to the cells in your body. Interferon catches the viruses as they move from cell to cell. Getting caught allows another type of white blood to come to the caught virus, eat it up and take it off to the lymphatic system where it is deposited and eliminated. Without interferon the viruses are allowed to destroy cell after cell. Interferon is like the spider web that catches the fly. We must do the same thing. There is a product called Parasine which will help you make interferon that is sold by Para Health Foods. Their phone number is (937) 434-8066. This is a must for your immune system to protect your body. There will be no need to take flu shots. You will have your own protection against viruses. There are other forms of arthritis which can produce many symptoms of pain. However, you may be like one of my patients that told me that she was becoming a very frivolous lady. She was hanging out with five guys every day. When She gets up in the morning, Will Power gets her out of bed, and then she has to go see John. Charley Horse often visits her then Art Ritis comes over, but all he wanted to do is hang out in joints. After all this activity she was so tired that she went to bed with Ben Gay. I’m sure this describes many of your days and what you have to do to survive the day with all your aches and pains. There is an answer to the “Arthritis” symptoms and it does not have to be painful. The Radiance of Inner Beauty by Mary Jane Brigger

This year for Christmas, my sister Annie gave me a book called,” Guardians of Being” by Eckart Tolle. The book is brilliantly laid out as a child’s book, and even though I would recommend you read it to a child, it is meant for adults. A beautiful message put into a simple form of reaching and achieving the meaning of the NOW, the PRESENT MOMENT, the deeper connection to BEING.

At that very moment, release all the wrestling of your mind; become suspended in The Place of Stillness where you can hear your soul’s whisperings. This is what I call the Radiance of Your Inner Beauty, the soul connection to your True Self, Your Sacred Source. The Doorway into Being that opens to reveal the person you are born to be, united with Your True Self and One with Your Spirit.

With the simple soul stirring artwork of Patrick McDonnell, Eckart Tolle takes us into the world of Nature and the relationship with our dogs and cats. The author states that our pets are teachers of the power and importance of living in the Moment, of just Being. To quote Eckart Tolle from “Guardians of Being” he beautifully states,” When you pet a dog or listen to a cat purring, thinking subsides for a moment and a Place of Stillness arises within you, a Doorway into Being.”

In Guardians of Being, Mr. Tolle’s message is that animals are born connected to Nature, and never lose the gift of living in the moment and then moving on. The Gift of Nature can be:

A Place of Stillness, a Doorway into Being. What is that? How does that occur? How do I know it is happening? The next time you pet your dog, stroke your cat, gaze at a sunset or sunrise, allow yourself to feel the deep Inner Beauty of Peace, a connection to something greater that resides within you.

24

• Looking into the soulful eyes of a dog that gives you unconditional love, even though he just chewed up your favorite shoes. • Coming home after a bad day, feeling beat up and bruised, to hear a joyful bark, see a happy wagging tail, or the soft purring sounds as the cat lovingly weaves and rubs against your ankles. • Becoming suspended in the moment of the gentle care of

Keys to Intuitive your pets as they guide you to experience Your Inner Beauty, Your True Self as Your Sacred Source caresses you with comfort, peace and love. • When sadness or anger of the day becomes temporarily invisible, Suspended in Time as your dog licks your face, your cat curls up in your lap, or for the first time you believe in angels when you hear the birds sing. Regardless if it is animals, flowers, art, sunsets, children, whatever makes you stop in wonder is the Presence of the Moment, the Place of Stillness that connects you to Your True Self and Sacred Source. This connection allows the Radiance of Your True Inner Beauty to with the Power of Now and the Lesson of the Moment. The Radiance of True Inner Beauty is a reflection of a soul connected to the Sacred Source of their Being. Would you like to connect to your True Self and Sacred Source? How would it feel if you could instantly be in The Place of Stillness? Imagine having the Radiance of Your True Inner Beauty shining so bright that it makes a difference in the world? Then it’s yours and all for the asking. We are all born with these gifts and abilities but are unaware we possess them. All you have to do is ask your Sacred Source to reveal them to you. Doorways will open and journeys of faith and healing will begin as you become the Person You Are Born to Be with a deeper connection to Being. Development

by Kathy Vaske Learn to meditate. It clears the mind, so spirit can get through. It’s hard to pick up what spirit is trying to tell you, when your mind is cluttered with everyday thoughts. Finding something to focus on, helps you to feel what spirit is bringing in for you. Develop a positive attitude. Stay focused on the positive end results you desire, to the exclusion of everything else. You must look away from what’s happening in the physical, and set your sites entirely upon what you are trying to manifest in your life. The physical will always give you the illusion that what you are experiencing at the moment is true, and can not be changed. That is a lie. Energy flows where thought goes. It’s how the universe is set up. We are all capable of changing our situation we find ourselves in. It’s just really frightening to think we could be responsible for whatever is happening at the moment. Then we would have to take responsibility for it. Get started in some training to open up your intuition. Once you have the name of one of your guides, that one will usually give you the names of your other guides, if you ask. Choose a form of communication you feel you have some success with, to communicate with spirit. The tool can be anything from tarot cards to crystal balls. Spirit will use absolutely anything to communicate with us if we set up the agreement with them first. Practice and lots of it is definitely required. That’s where classes come in. Class allows you a friendly, non threatening environment to learn and to grow, with like minded people. Check out Whatever Works at the Kenwood borderline. “Team Patrick” My 30 year old nephew Patrick, was diagnosed with auto immune hepatitis at the age 14. He was loving, loyal, brilliant, and funnier than any person I have ever known. He was handsome, with a beautiful soul to match! His wit and charm were truly captivating! This diagnosis brought much anxiety to him at a young age. This disease would damage his liver. Unfortunately he struggled over the years with addiction, and was unable to conquer his demons. In October of 2010 he again was hospitalized due to complications with his failing liver. I knew this was different. His health had deteriorated rapidly in the past year, his body certainly could not take much more. My sister, his mother, was devastated watching her only son slowly die. Paralyzed in fear of the inevitable, I had to help my sister in any way that I could. Patrick and I were always close, we bonded at an even deeper level. When things got worse, he appointed me his medical power of attorney. I’ll never forget the day that I went to

26

the hospital to sign the papers. The hallway to his room felt 10 miles long. He bravely signed his wishes over to me, DNR, no heroic measures, he had suffered enough. He had been in the hospital over 100 times in his life. It was only by the grace of God, and the support of family, that I would be able to make that decision for Patrick, if he were no longer able. I was honored that he trusted me that much. We rallied around one another for support. Moms and Dads, sisters and brothers, cousins, aunts and uncles. We grew closer to Patrick’s father, stepmother, and brother! We were a team! “TEAM PATRICK,” we proudly called ourselves! The Doctor needed to speak with me on one visit in late January. I waited in the hallway, wringing my hands, the news could not be good. I looked up to see Patrick’s brother, who seemed to appear out of nowhere. All I can remember was his million dollar smile, and his warm reassuring hug. I will forever believe that it was no coincidence. He was sent there for me at that moment, on Angels’ Wings! Patrick’s kidneys were failing. There was nothing more that could be done. He was admitted to Hospice/Vitas that evening. On February 2, I took the day off work to spend with Patrick. Things were getting worse. When I arrived, he patted his mattress and said, “Get in here with me!” Ever the entertainer, he sang, “Signed, sealed, delivered I’m Yours.” I laid my head on his chest and never let go until I felt his weak arm slide down my back. Nearly 12 hours later, Patrick was stable, and sleeping more soundly than he had in months. I left to get a few hours of rest. I had never seen a more beautiful snow as I walked to my car. There was no traffic, no noise, just silence. I looked up to see the light I had left on for him, and whispered, “I love you buddy!” I never looked back. My phone rang at 4 am. Patrick was gone.

U niversal Prayer for Summer Joy

How could he? I was supposed to be there with him, I was his voice. Then, I realized that he did that for me. He knew more than I knew. That as strong as I had been, by the grace of God, and support of “TEAM PATRICK,” he was protecting “Aunt Nance,” till the end! He wanted me to remember him sleeping peacefully. That is the kind of person he was. Patrick was the son I never had. I will miss him every day for the rest of my life. We will forever be “TEAM PATRICK!” Until we meet again! – Nancy Allen

by Rev.David Mahen Let us appreciate the joy that summer brings, her days of warm sun and gentle rains, and her nights filled with sounds of life. Each moment carries a new sound, a new essence, new flavors and colors, and so we give thanks as each moment unfolds. We give thanks for our family and friends, as we share the joys of summer with them. In those precious moments we share, let us create spaces in the conversations, quiet moments in which we give and receive gratitude and love. Let love connect us all. Let us celebrate with laughter to express our joy, as children do so easily when they play. And find that place where we can love and laugh in every situation, and conversation. Astrology by Mary

Gemini May 20 – June 21

The solar eclipse in Gemini on June 1st starts you off on a whirlwind of activity, enjoying recreational pursuits, travels, and/or learning, with a sense that you could be serious about some of these matters. Last month you could have spent some time doing spring cleaning, renovating, etc. But now you are ready to roll! Full Moon in mid June finds you fully engaged with friends, fun, and frolic. Some of you will also be taking a comprehensive look at finances, and monies may be spent on home and family. On a down note, a few may be concerned over health of a parent, or maybe losing a job. But you have the incredible skill of adapting rapidly to changing conditions.

a

Cancer June 22-July 22

June has you busily engaged behind the scenes with what looks like a lot of paper work, or short trips. But the solar eclipse in your sign on July 1 begins a serious time in the next year of balancing factors that have every part of your life involved, i.e. you and your own well being, issues with partners, issues with parent figures (or your role as a parent), and the career position which appears to be (for early Cancers) about to explode and shift gears. Not an easy time, but just know that this too will pass. If it helps any, your sign Cancer is of course the sun sign for the United States – so as goes the U.S. , so go you. Admittedly not an easy time, but our nation always survives, and so will you!

b

Leo July 22 – August 22

As this period begins, you will be mingling with friends and groups of people, and some of these connections may relate to a new serious learning technique. However, do be prepared for the solar eclipse coming in on July 1 which will set the stage for a long period of concern or labor involving health patterns of family members. Or the eclipse can simply mean that you will be spending lots of time helping people in need, mainly females.

28

Patterns around the employment area are being over hauled, and you may find yourself with opportunities in a “hands on” position that can be very rewarding.

c

Virgo August 22 – September 22

The solar eclipse of June 1 is stimulating to your reputation and career, and promises increases in the pocketbook. There seems to be a balancing act between income and outgo, which reflects quite nicely in the career. For some of you, romance could take a serious turn, and possibly someone from your past will be showing up. Jupiter, the planet of opportunities, gives a hint of travel for you or loved ones. For very early Virgos, the planet Neptune shows in your house of partners, and can mean you meet someone who “marches to a different drum”. Interesting and intriguing, but go cautiously.

d

Libra September 22 – October 23

You are taking a very positive approach to your physical reality, by observing diet, health, hygiene, exercise, etc., with lots of help from friends and family, and possibly a class or two with these people, all of which is very supportive. Possibly a trip to see relatives at a distance is in the making. Obligations at home and/or about parents could be showing up with demands for attention. For early Libras, watch for a new relationship showing up suddenly. Also, some of the socializing could require some new digs, and you may be spending a bit more than you planned to, but your new self improvement attitude warrants a reward!

e Scorpio

October 23 – November 21

You begin this period with a tremendous amount of knowledge in regards to the financial concerns. The new moon on June 1 begins this process and comes to a head mid month. Much information must be processed and noted, as the authority

June / July 2011

figures are watching. Early Scorpios will have some surprising news in the work place, which may require several months of review on your part. And while you may not exactly require the lime-light, you will be “in the news” so to speak during July, and you will perform royally. Your quiet, but determined efforts behind the scenes, are beginning to pay off!

f

Sagittarius November 22–December 21

Your ruling planet, Jupiter, is beginning a year-long stay in the sign that controls your working/health environment. It can mean more opportunities, but also carries the idea of commitment and endurance, which is a little foreign to you, as you prefer to be “moving along”. But stick with it, and your self worth will be greatly enhanced. There will be lots of meetings with friends and partners, and really great discussions. A chance meeting with an interesting new friend will open more doors for you. Take the time to plan seriously about what you want in your future.

g

Capricorn December 21 – January 19

This is a very important time in your life, as you are realizing that you need to analyze where you have been, where you are going, and what needs to be over hauled. These major issues are divided between family and career. The need to reconstruct is necessary, but also carries the obligation to be fair to all concerned. That also includes you, because your usual effort is to carry more of the load than anyone else! The workplace is extremely busy during June, and then in July the matters that include family, home and career will all be demanding time and attention. Take a deep breath – you’ll need it.

h

Aquarius January 19 – February 18

You are fortunate in the area of new learning, which could turn into some serious study, and there is also excitement in the areas of social activity, short journeys, travel, and inter- action with groups of like minded people. Your subconscious is waking up to the fact that old patterns and accumulated “stuff” must go. Improving the home base, including land .and property, will claim some time and attention in the next year or so. Your own sense of self worth will be enhanced if you take the time to “be still and know”, as the connection with divinity is but a hair breadth away.

i

Pisces February 18 – March 20

Early Pisces are “morphing” into a new sense of self. The future is yet to be determined, but “letting go and letting God” is important right now. Your birth right (being in touch with “all

Infinity

that is”) is slowly moving into position. You may be more tired than usual, or may feel a vague sense of anxiety, which means that you unconsciously absorb the world wide chaos. There could be new methods of making money, and these need to be balanced by paying debts on time. The need to come up with a concrete plan for the rest of your life is surfacing. Right now there is lots of activity in and out of home, and the children will be coming in for lots of attention very soon.

^

Aries March 20 – April 19

You have been all over the place in the last month or so! It could have been somewhat exhausting, as well as exciting. The planet Uranus is demanding some new beginnings, and the other planets are creating changes in the home base and/or the career, and career can mean your position in the family as well as the status in employment. Some of you will need the advice of a lawyer, or possibly just from a good friend. There will be many short trips, and possibly even a new car to be purchased. You may feel that you are being pulled in many directions, but make an extra effort to be balanced and cautious, as the effort to maintain an even keel will reward you.

_

Taurus April 19 – May 20

Lucky Taurus! Jupiter, the planet of luck and opportunities, is in your sign for the next year. Take advantage of what it offers, as it only comes this way once every 12 years! Physically, you may want to glamorize yourself (but watch the extra pounds). Lots of action in your pocket book in June, usually meaning that it goes out rather quickly, but its fun. And home base comes in for a re-do project also. July is busy with family affairs, and there may be trips involved with seeing family and/or relatives. The employment area is taking its toll, with demands from all sides, but just realize that efforts to cooperate will pay off big time.
