Signature Profile Going Up the Emotional Scale with Art by Bill Foreman I have been teaching art for several years with emotionally disturbed students for Dayton Public Schools. These strategies will work for ALL OF US. You are probably familiar with the Abraham-Hicks Emotional Scale – from unhappiness, fear, and powerlessness - up twenty steps up to happiness, joy, freedom, love, and appreciation. If you’re not familiar with this scale, visit their website: www.AbrahamHicks.com, or download these self-improvement strategies at www.WhataNiceWebSite.com and check under Connee Chandler’s name. These strategies can help us in each of the major aspects of our lives - health, family, abundance, school, etc. As Esther Hicks has explained many times while channeling Abraham, we can move up the scale one or two steps at a time… but we should NOT DENY OUR FEELINGS. In most of the strategies, we see where we are now, and focus on where we want to be… and then take steps towards that goal. With students, I try to show how to move up the emotional scale with different forms of art (drawing, dance, music, etc.) by using VICARIOUS EXPERIENCES. One of the nice things about art (unless somebody is fantastic at drawing realistic pictures) is that you can interpret your drawing to someone else if they ask. It’s best to keep the meaning to yourself, since some steps are not socially acceptable. I also like to have them reflect – whether working with clay or drawing Zentangles - to think without words and let “the force flow through you.” Working with clay is a great spiritual metaphor – like “shaping our lives” while shaping a piece of clay – from a lump into something beautiful. When I first retired from Dayton Public Schools in 2005, I set up a pottery studio. Now I have scouts, Indian Princesses, multi-generation family groups, staff development, and other groups, come into the studio for a two hour, handson, clay workshop – followed up two weeks later with a glazing session. Participants can make bowls, vases, pinch pots, tiles, small sculptures, etc. Everyone – grandparents to five year olds – seems to enjoy forming clay with their hands. See www.BillsPottery.com for more information on scheduling a group or party in the studio; or if you have any questions or comments.
Traditional vs. Advanced Hypnosis Discovering what’s really holding you back
by William Molitor, BCH, CI Traditional hypnosis in the past was primarily called “direct suggestion” hypnosis. Although it was extremely effective for dealing with most habits and motivation there seemed to be a piece of the puzzle still missing. It was through the pioneering efforts of hypnotists such as Gerald Kein that made it possible for advanced hypnosis to make its way into mainstream hypnotherapeutic practices. Highly effective induction techniques as well as age regression and progression, higher self intelligence and self empowerment techniques are all part of what has become the primary method used at the Tri-State Hypnosis Center, and this process is called “Hall of Thoughts” hypnosis, which has been developed by William Molitor. These methods as well as many others are now taught and used as primary tools for our clients that desire a powerful and permanent change in their lives. These new and highly effective processes seek out and modify old beliefs that at the subconscious level would in the past sabotage any attempts to change old habits. Beliefs are the most powerful of all your thoughts. Often your beliefs are unknowingly built around distorted, inaccurate or outdated information. You have both conscious beliefs and unconscious beliefs. Conscious beliefs are those thoughts that we know we are thinking. Such as if you eat healthy you will live a long healthy life, or if you are well educated you will get a better job, or if you wash your hands you are will be germ free. A subconscious belief is a thought that you are unaware of. You do not know that you are thinking it, some examples of these subconscious belief could be “money is evil”, or “overweight people are lazy”, or “I have no will power”. You may be surprised just how dramatically these beliefs can affect your life. Let’s take a look at one case where a limiting belief kept a highly motivated client from achieving and maintaining her goal. A
4
woman came to see me for motivation and weight management. She was 32 years old, single and quite a bit over weight. She reported that her weight issue started when she was between 18-21 years old and has continued despite all her efforts. She had tried many diets as well as direct suggestion hypnosis, all of which had good results in the beginning. She would lose all the excess weight in what she called record time and look fabulous and felt great, and then ultimately she would fall into an unmotivated and depressed state and put all the weight plus a few pounds back on. This cycle had been going on for over a dozen years and she was desperate for help. I used an advanced hypnosis process, the “Hall of Thoughts”, which allowed her to uncover her limiting belief of “as long as I am unattractive, I am emotionally safe”. This belief was created after an emotionally painful relationship, which occurred during her first year at a prominent University which - according to her perception at the time - was due to the fact that she was attractive. She believed that if she had not been so attractive this event would not have occurred. This limiting belief was further strengthened when after three years of gaining weight she decided to “get in shape”. She did just that, and then six months before she was to graduate from the university that she was still attending she had another event. This time a supervisor at the firm she was working as part of an internship program made inappropriate advances towards her and threatened that if she made these advances public his report would damage her chances to achieve the academic credits that she needed to graduate. She went back into her unmotivated and depressed state, gained back the weight and the supervisor then lost all interest in her and she graduated. Through this advanced hypnosis process she was able to use the all the information that was previously unavailable to her conscious mind. Through hypnosis she was able to tap into her subconscious mind and reevaluate her belief that being overweight

Summer, God’s Gift by Marcia Cantrell and unattractive equaled being safe, and at the same time create a new belief that was beneficial to her goal of being happy and healthy. Hypnosis allows a clear unobstructed view of thoughts that have become beliefs which in turn gives the individual an opportunity to modify those beliefs in ways that will rapidly change old habits. She lost the excess weight and has maintained a healthy life style over the past four years despite some difficult relationship events. She now has the belief that she is in control and lives her life accordingly. This is an example of how, when properly applied, advanced hypnosis becomes a powerful self-help tool in which you can take back control of the limiting beliefs that may be wreaking havoc on the success of your personal goals. Advanced hypnotic process allows you to not only uncover thoughts that have become limiting beliefs but at the same time create powerful new thoughts that create new beliefs. These same hypnotic processes help people quit smoking, release fears such as the fear of flying or public speaking, decrease and/or eliminate panic and anxiety attacks, as well as increase sports performance. So the next time you feel like giving up on your self-improvement goals or you are ready to make a safe and permanent change to your life take the time to discover all the great ways that hypnosis is helping thousands of people just like you every day. The Flowers of Human Kind by Asha Mahambrey
“Every child comes with a message that God is not yet discouraged of man.” - Rabindranath Tagore As new parents hold their new sweet baby, indescribable joy fills their heart. An overwhelming feeling and awareness that they want to give their best to help this child grow up to be a happy, productive and responsible human being. Thus, they begin their first few steps on the long path of parenting. In Dr. Maria Montessori’s words, “The most important period is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to age six. For that is the time when man’s intelligence itself, his greatest implement, is being formed. But not only does his intelligence, the full totality of his psychic powers is being formed… At no other age has the child a greater need of intelligent help and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has to achieving perfection.”
6
The ‘intelligent help’ that we adults can offer is a deep understanding of their growth, and then support them so that their natural unfolding meets with the least amount of obstacles. Just as one flower is made of many petals, a child is a being of many aspects. The most observable aspects are the physical, emotional, behavioral, cognitive, moral and spiritual growth: Physical Growth: The overall physical growth and age-related milestones (rolling over, sitting up, crawling, walking, teething, grasping, physical coordination, etc.). Emotional Growth: Though born from the same parents within the same nurturing environment, each child comes to this world with his/her own unique emotional makeup. Different siblings will reflect different emotional responses to the same situation.
June / July 2012
Behavioral Growth: Each child’s emotional makeup is inherent, but their behavior is learned. Depending on the personality of each child, our guidance and reactions to their unique traits will either enhance or aggravate their behavior.
possibilities to become an independent, secure and balanced human being.”
Cognitive Growth: A young child absorbs the world around him through his five senses, processes that information with his heart, and forms thoughts that develop his mind. Then, they learn to arrive at conclusions, to solve a situation – in essence, learns to learn.

Moral Growth: As a member of their family and a citizen of the world, a young child begins to internalize what is acceptable and unacceptable for them and the people around them so that everyone can live in fairness, mutual respect and harmony. Spiritual Growth: As children grow in all these beautiful aspects, they radiate a light of hope, trust and joy. They look forward to the excitement of each new day, and each new experience. With each passing day, their spirit shines through their being. Adults welcome children into the world to continue the waves of generations and to contribute wellbalanced human beings to society. We raise these children giving the best and most we can, so that they can realize their full potential and express it in all its splendor. This lofty goal has a few glorious moments, and many more which are mundane - this is true of anything simple or significant we undertake in life. In raising a child, we are exhilarated and overwhelmed like never before. And we are humbled. We want to, and can, raise our children well. For that, we need to develop our heart to sincerely understand the natural growth of our children, and guide them with deep respect. “It is true, we cannot make a genius,” Dr. Maria Montessori once wrote, “we can only give each individual the chance to fulfill his potential

Waves of Summer by Charley Sky Greetings! I hope you are having a lot of summer fun. I am making it a point to get out and about to enjoy summertime as it should be enjoyed. I love everything about summer, even the dog days of August. Normally I might not recommend going indoors this time of year, but I must make an exception. I do my best to frequent our wellness community businesses. It was during one of these visits that I ran across a product that I simply must tell you about. It seems that Vince, from Whatever Works Wellness Center, has invented a veritable miracle of a machine. Normally I refrain from endorsing products, but I am compelled to share my experience with you. I was not told anything about the invention, or what I might expect from using it. Vince placed a piece of wood, called a sound box, on the floor in front of me, instructing me to place my feet upon it, and then handed me a set of headphones. He mentioned something about musical messages that would shortly begin playing. For the first fifteen seconds my mind was busy trying to analyze what I was experiencing. Then it became obvious to me that the waves running through my body were beyond what my mind could grasp, let alone analyze. I was already feeling superb prior to this, but to say the waves were the cherry on top would be discounting how wonderful the experience felt. Trust me when I say I have tried every kind of new age device, sound wave therapy etc. There is nothing to compare this with. Vince’s pamphlet explains that stress adversely affects us, and in fact I think we all know how debilitating stress can be, and how it can in fact cause disease. After fifteen minutes of use I felt transformed in ways far beyond my ability to articulate them. Transformation in a box I thought, this invention is going to blow the lid off of what we know as stress relieving tools and techniques. In my opinion, in terms of products aimed at stress relief, there is no close second, in part because it is so unique. The magic box is called “The WholiSound Acoustopathic Healing System.” It is billed as being useful for pain management, physical relaxation ( an
8
understatement ) mental calm, better sleep ( I slept like a baby that night) and improved brain and neural functioning. The price is quite reasonable, I have seen units at twice the price, that frankly did darn little. This system works! I could go on and on about this, and I am inclined to do so, but rather than that, pay them a visit and try it for yourself. I am quite confident you will be no less amazed than I am. And please, make sure to stop in on all of our wellness shops over the summer. We are fortunate to have so many fine healers, shops and resources for our health and well being here in the Cincinnati area. Browse through this issue and make it a point to patronize the folks who make this magazine possible. Love, peace and miracles to each of you. Charley Sky

Dr. Matt Finke & Matty Patton
Matty Patton had been suffering from the confinements of asthma for his entire young life. Like a lot of kids with asthma, he was dependent upon inhalers and medications. Until a friend of Matty’s mom recommended Baker Chiropractic and Wellness. Here’s Matty’s story in his mom’s words: Matty has had life-long asthma. He was diagnosed at one year old after he passed out from having trouble breathing. He couldn’t run around like an average child without throwing up to the point of passing out. He also suffered from speech delay, which led to a lot of tears because no one could understand him when he tried to talk. Matty has had to have his throat scoped and at certain points in

his life he has been on as many as twelve (12) different medications a day! Nothing he was on ever provided enough relief to let him play with his brothers. He has been in speech therapy since he was nine (9) months old, with mild improvement over the past two and a half years.
need his rescue inhaler! Since visiting Dr. Matt, we have not used his rescue inhaler once! Prior to Matty getting adjusted regularly, we were using his rescue inhaler at least once a week every week.
Matty wasn’t able to run, jump, or even play without having a severe asthma attack. Most of the time, this would lead to a trip to the emergency room because he would faint from throwing up so violently. We had to limit how much he could play because of how bad his asthma was.
Everyone in the office has been so friendly and has taken the time to answer all of our questions. We feel like Dr. Matt has given Matty a new life! We finally feel like Matty has a chance to have a normal life. He can do everything kids his age can do and more! We are so grateful for the wonderful changes that we have seen in Matty!
We were referred to Dr. Matt Finke by a friend who is a patient at another one of the Baker Chiropractic locations. She kept encouraging me to visit to see if there was anything that could be done to help Matty. Within one week of being adjusted, Matty’s speech improved in such a major way! He no longer had chronic fluid in his ears, and therefore his hearing improved dramatically! His speech went from minimal to explosive within the first two weeks of being adjusted! At the same time, he was running around and playing hard! We thought about stopping him from being so active, but we decided to see how he did. That night he played harder than he ever had before, and for the first time in his life he didn’t

The Healing Journey of Grief by Mary Jane Brigger As a former career coach, I had become frustrated with the lack of progress many people were making in their job search. I decided to become an observer of the people who attended my job search workshops to find out why. I sensed a strong suppressed energy among the highly charged emotions of anger and fear surrounding these jobseekers. My awareness of this suppressed energy led to my deep listening to what these jobseekers were truly saying. I soon realized it was more than fear and outrage sabotaging their job search. It was the energy of deep intense grief. Death need not be physical to cause intense grief. When, suddenly, a major part of your life is gone (a death), a life crisis replaces it. Whether one liked his job or not, it was an integral part of a person’s life that brought safety, shelter, socialization, security and, often, fulfillment. The job seeker is unaware that grief is holding him back from a successful job search or from even starting one. Grief from unemployment, divorce, and illness is an example of loss or “death” that is non physical. Grief can bring a spiritual disconnection as the anger and trauma of loss is experienced. It can become embedded within our bodies, causing depression and illness. Yet grief can be a gift of New Life and a deeper re-connection with Spirit. Its energy can be directed to rebuilding and renewing one’s life emotionally, physically and spiritually. Recently I experienced back-to-back life crises that left me in overwhelming grief. The stresses weakened my body by aggravating my Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia. My grief was threatening my current business and the start up of a second, because there were days I could not work. I slowly recognized within myself the strong energy source of grief that I had observed in the jobseekers. As a Body Story ™ Expert, I knew I needed to go within myself and work with my body to find the source of this grief energy. By using the tools in which I was trained to help others with grief and transition
10
in their own lives, I found the source of my own grief energy. And guess what? It came from a job loss that happened ten years ago which left me with unresolved grief, just like the jobseekers in my workshops. Without my effectively dealing with the intense grief that particular job loss brought into my life, it became embedded within my body as a “body story’ stuck on replay. Over the years other emotional wounds and body stories built upon the core of this unresolved grief, burying it deeper within my body. It was keeping me in the “fright and flight “stress mode which is one of the many causes of Chronic Fatigue and Fibromyalgia So how did I begin to release the core of this grief energy and its layers of pain? First I had to surrender myself to Spirit. Then, together with Spirit, hand in hand, we began the first steps of our journey through the layers of my unresolved grief. I am still on that journey, because releasing these body stories is a process. However, each day brings new victories. My healing journey has revealed to me that my chronic illness and past job loss actually became gifts over time. For out of ashes, I was led to my Life in the Spirit and the Path to my Life Purpose. With each step on this journey, I am renewed in body, mind and spirit. The Healing Journey of Grief is not an easy choice to make. We can choose to refuse and acknowledge grief in our lives, or we can embrace it as the positive life force energy it can be. One choice gives Life. The other brings Death. I choose Life and embrace Grief as the True Spiritual Energy it is. About the Author: Mary Jane Brigger is a Body Story ™ Expert, Reiki /Master Teacher and owner of www. Rhythm in my Shoes by Ráven The elegant hue of green, harvested moss, rushes to kiss the earths extremities of rock and wood. A “welcome mat” for the sleepy frog, quails in the bush, soon offer a kissed quartet of natural sounds. The scent and sense of summer arrives. The moon strobe lights the cozy home of the ardent raccoon. The nocturnal eyes of the tall and small are reflections of luminous eyes looking back at the night. There is a thread that ties all of color, hues of ample graduations, subtle sounds everywhere in unison to the rhythm of all. It is the key to balance universal patterns, life itself. Look at the timely rhythm of life expressed in the sun rising and setting.

The course of winds cooperating with climatic changes, the fields of wheat moving “in and out.” To be quite content to one’s level of silence, breaks into the sound of one’s heart beating. There are our own seasons of changes, timely changes occurring at each hour of the day. The rhythm of life changes to a finely, energetic tune, reminding us that we all are “one in the same.” We are allies to one another; that is, even in the idea of one’s health, there is the continuous rhythm of “all there is,” our mysterious rhythm. There is an expressed, unconditional love hidden in our worst or best day on earth. The loss of loved ones in family and friendships remind us to have faith that they, too are alive, and can visit from the “other side.” There is a remarkable rhythm from birth through life, breathing the meaning of life into our eternal passage. The rhythm of Spring into Summer! Invent new thoughts, new adventures, releasing from fears of living and achievements. The little steps to understand the mystery of what is creation, the tangible or intangible. Breathe in the changing and unchanging rhythm of “harmonic balance” and the culmination of quiet peace.

Growing Food on a (Time) Budget by Dr. Barbara Ut
I love gardening -- the thought of walking into my garden and gathering that day’s lunch or dinner ingredients is so appealing, that each year I plant more trees, bushes and plants for their edible fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers. However, with a big garden and a busy schedule, I am also challenged to effectively maintain my ever-expanding edible landscape! And, when I advise others on how they can grow food organically and sustainably, I hear similar concerns: – “I would love to grow my own food, but who has the time?”
There are several ‘greens’ that are perennial, including Salad Burnet (Poterium sanguisorba), the leaves of which have a wonderful cucumber-like flavor, and Lovage (Levisticum officinale), with a taste reminiscent of Celery. Sorrel (Rumex acetosa) is another perennial favorite, providing superb, tart greens for salads or soups. Lovage and Sorrel are also some of the earliest greens to return in the Spring.
Over the years, I have learned how to ensure reliable food production, even when I am not able to spend much time in the garden.
Lavender, Oregano, Sage, Tarragon, Thyme and Winter Savory are beautiful perennial plants that I can rely on for culinary use year after year, as well as for their lovely flowers and consistently structural appearance. Chives (Allium schoenoprasum) are also perennial, and produce charming purple flowers, or white flowers with Garlic Chives (Allium tuberosum).
So how can you do it? First, I recommend focusing on several perennials (plants that come back year after year) as food sources, as well as self-seeding annuals.
Although Cilantro (Coriandrum sativum) is an annual, I can verify its dependability as an easy, self-seeding plant. I sprinkled some Cilantro (Coriander) seeds

years ago in one of my garden beds, and I am rewarded each year with fresh green growth, as well as abundant Coriander seeds. Another wonderful perennial source of food is fruit. I grow several varieties of trees, bushes and vines, however here are some of my favorites, for their reliability in producing fruit and their simplicity of care. Blackberries have consistently been my easiest, bestproducing fruit crop. Truly, I have left them unattended for long periods of time, and they reliably produce a large crop of delectable berries. I know some day soon I should trim out the old, non-producing canes, but I am thankful that these blackberries produce well, regardless of the attention I can give them. They have also consistently produced in highly-variable weather! I am also particularly pleased that I added Currants to my garden a few years ago. They are lovely bushspecimens, are virtually maintenance free, and they provide edible berries, rich with nutrients. I also use Strawberries abundantly as groundcover, which of course offer delicious berries, but also attractive red foliage in cooler weather. I am so happy with my blueberries, that I tripled the number of plants in my garden last year. Once established in good, acidic, well-draining soil (most of the clay soil in Southwest Ohio needs to be amended a bit), they can produce delectable berries for decades.

The Strangest Secret by John Boe, International Motivational Speaker & Trainer In 1957, Earl Nightingale, speaker, author and co-founder of the Nightingale-Conant Corporation, recorded his classic motivational record The Strangest Secret. The Strangest Secret sold over one million copies and made history in the recording industry by being honored as the first Gold Record for the spoken word. Nightingale, known as the “dean of personal development,” concluded that life’s “strangest secret” is that we become what we think about all day long. Our belief system, like our computer, doesn’t judge or even question what we input; it merely accepts our thoughts as truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Think thoughts of defeat or failure and we’re bound to feel discouraged. Continuous thoughts of worry, anxiety and fear are unhealthy and often manifest in the body as stress, panic attacks and depression. At the core of Earl’s message, he reveals the incredible power of positive self-talk, belief and expectation. What you vividly imagine and hold in your subconscious mind begins to out picture as our reality. Our belief system not only defines our reality, but it also shapes our character and determines our potential. The Placebo Effect The ability of the mind to cure a disease even when the medicine is known to be worthless is known as the “placebo effect.” This occurs in medical trials where doctors give patients sugar pills, but tell them they will cure their illness. Often it does, even though the pills contain nothing of medical benefit. The only thing of value in these medical trials is the patient’s own belief that the sugar pills will cure them. It’s the power of the patient’s belief and expectation alone that produces the improvement in his or her health.
about the complications associated with undergoing chemotherapy treatment, such as fatigue and loss of hair. Amazingly, based on nothing more than their belief and expectation, nearly one third of the patients who were given the placebo reported were feeling fatigued and actually experienced hair loss! The Power of Affirmation and Positive Self-Talk If we had access to a powerful tool that would enhance our self-esteem and allow us to reach our full potential would we use it? A good way to create positive self-talk is through affirmations. An affirmation is a positive statement that represents our desired condition or outcome. Interesting enough, our subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between a real experience and a vividly imagined “mental” experience. When he was a struggling young comedian, late at night Jim Carrey would drive into the hills overlooking Hollywood and yell at the top of his lungs “I will earn ten million dollars a year by 1995.” When 1995 finally arrived, Jim was the star of the movie “Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls”, for which he was paid twenty million dollars. To be effective our affirmation must be stated aloud… In a positive manner with the focus on what we want. When we catch ourselves saying or thinking something negative about ourselves, counteract the negative selftalk with a positive affirmation. Start your affirmation with words like “I am…” or “I already have…” Example: “I close sales with little or no resistance.” “I take good care of my customers and they show their appreciation by referring their friends to me.” In the present tense. Our subconscious mind works in the present tense, so avoid words such as can, will, should or could. Example: “I love doing my work and I am richly rewarded creatively and financially.” With emotion and conviction.
I recently read a remarkable story about a group of cancer patients who thought they were being treated with chemotherapy, but were actually given a placebo. Before their treatment began, the patients were informed

Repeatedly. I suggest you read your affirmations each morning upon awakening and again each night just before falling asleep. Close your eyes and picture the end result.

Feel the emotions associated with the affirmation. Here are some of my favorite affirmations: • Every day in every way I’m getting better and better! • Everything comes to me easily and effortlessly! • I love and appreciate myself just as I am! • I love doing my work and I am richly rewarded creatively and financially! • I now have enough time, energy, wisdom and money to accomplish all my desires! • Infinite riches are now freely flowing into my life! • I am relaxed and centered. I feel happy and blissful! Do affirmations really work and can they be used to propel a person to achieve greatness? As a young boy growing up in Louisville, Kentucky, 12-year-old Cassius Marcellus Clay dreamed of someday becoming the heavyweight boxing champion of the world. When working out in the gym, Clay would continuously affirm to all within earshot that he was indeed the greatest boxer of all
time! While many felt he was brash and boastful, few people actually took this 89-pound youngster seriously. Mohammad Ali used his affirmation to become the undisputed heavyweight boxing champion of the world and arguably one of the most popular and recognized sports figures of all times! “Watch your thoughts, for they become words. Choose your words, for they become actions. Understand your actions, for they become habits. Study your habits, for they will become your character. Develop your character, for it becomes your destiny.” Anonymous Show me a person with high self-esteem, a positive attitude and a healthy work ethic and I’ll be able to predict his or her success in advance… I guarantee it. Divine Providence by Michael McAdams As we awaken in this existence in an unfamiliar body in unfamiliar surroundings cradled in our mother’s arms we take solace in the soothing and comforting sound of our mother and father’s voice assuring us that they will watch over and take care of us as we start our journey of learning and discovery. Our Heavenly Father grants to us that same assurance and promise of protection throughout our sojourn upon this planet that He will watch over and comfort us. Our Heavenly Father has not promised our life would be free of trials and difficulty. He has promised, however, He will be by our side through all that we must learn as we walk our chosen pathway in this existence.
in this existence will be most beneficial in soul progression and development.
As we learn, grow, and become we incorporate into our thought system those core values and standards of perfection that allow our Earthly parents to feel pride in the manner in which we have responded to their example of living life. All parents should strive for high expectations for their children. If you never expect anything from your children you will never be disappointed. We should strive always in thought and word and deed to be beloved sons and daughters in whom our Heavenly Father is well pleased. His expectations for us are high as well.
“Nevertheless, the Father as a person may at anytime interpose a fatherly hand in the stream of cosmic events all in accordance with the will of God and in consonance with the wisdom of God and as motivated by the love of God.”
The gift of free will, our ability to choose, grants to us great responsibility in the decisions we make and the manner in which we conduct ourselves as these decisions and actions set forth our path and the direction and accomplishments we will someday look back upon as we graduate from this existence to the next phase of our eternal being. Our Heavenly Father’s hand is at work in our lives in many ways. Our attitudes, thoughts, and desires attract to us varied opportunities that shape and fulfill the objectives that have been set before us. We have come into this existence for a reason. Our Heavenly Father’s divine hand is at work even unto the set of parents we have been born. Our station in life as we begin our journey even unto whether we are male or female have been set before us granting the opportunity to experience, overcome, and accomplish that which

From the Urantia Book comes this discourse on providence: “Providence does not mean that God has decided all things for us and in advance. God loves us too much to do that, for that would be nothing short of cosmic tyranny. Man does have relative powers of choice. Neither is the divine love that shortsighted affection which would pamper and spoil the children of men.”
“But what man calls providence is all too often the product of his own imagination, the fortuitous juxtaposition of the circumstances of chance. There is, however, a real and emerging providence in the finite realm of universe existence, a true and actualizing correlation of the energies of space, the motions of time, the thoughts of intellect, the ideals of character, the desires of spiritual natures, and the purposive volitional acts of evolving personalities. The circumstances of the material realms find final finite integration in the interlocking presences of the Supreme and the Ultimate.” “Some of the amazingly fortuitous conditions occasionally prevailing on the evolutionary worlds may be due to the gradually emerging presence of the Supreme, the foretasting of His future universe activities. Most of what a mortal would call providential is not; his judgment of such matters is very handicapped by lack of farsighted vision into the true meanings of the circumstances of life. Much of what a mortal would call good luck might really be bad luck; the smile of fortune that bestows unearned leisure and undeserved wealth may be the greatest of
June / July 2012
human afflictions; the apparent cruelty of a perverse fate that heaps tribulation upon some suffering mortal may in reality be the tempering fire that is transmuting the soft iron of immature personality into the tempered steel of real character.” “The love of the Father operates directly in the heart of the individual, independent of the actions or reactions of all other individuals; the relationship is personal – man and God.” The Urantia Book Functions of Providence Supreme and Ultimate – Time and Space Our Heavenly Father does indeed act upon our behalf as situations and circumstances warrant such intervention. The recent story of Dr. Mary Neal, an orthopedic surgeon with no real religious affiliation, as she drowned in a kayaking accident in South America is a real example. She was under water for fourteen minutes and watched her body be pulled from the river as they tried to resuscitate her as her soul was drawn up and away from the scene. She was greeted by many who knew her and as they walked a path toward a beautifully lighted domed structure a being stepped forth and told Mary it was not her time and that she still had work to do. She was returned to her body and as they worked feverishly to revive her she started to breath. You can read her story in her new book “To Heaven and Back.” She has no fear whatsoever of death now as she knows that death is simply graduation.

Atlantis Revisited - True Eden? by Jill Mattson It is probably the most enduring grand mystery of all time... an enigma that was famously recorded by Plato around 360 BC (and it was ancient at that time). Atlantis has captured the interest and imagination of countless generations; over 2000 books have been written on this most famous “Lost Continent”. It has even been suggested that the longevity of the “myth”, and mankind’s fascination with Atlantis is due to the memory of Atlantis in our collective subconscious. In a exhaustive study of old records up through state-of-theart theory, the author concludes that Atlantis may have been the true Eden! Science tells us that there have been numerous surprisingly many - possible ancestors of modern homo sapiens (modern man). Often several of these races of “early men” would be present at the same time, coinhabiting the same geographical regions. Why were there so many of these early hominid species and why did one emerge - and emerge so quickly - to lead directly to modern man? Enter Atlantis theory... Could Atlantis be where the early “chosen” human ancestors were taken by the Divine Designers? The author contends it was in this isolated, pristine land that the spark of divinity - the soul, or the everlasting spirit was added to the animal form and what we know as true human man was born. These Divine Designers could have been truly divine - say the Angels of a traditional God; myths tell of Atlantis being home to Poseidon and his descendants. Some versions of Genesis describe Giants who found Earth women pleasing and mated with them. If you are rooted in a more physical explanation, these Super Beings could have been advanced extraterrestrial Aliens who had visited the early earth for many millennia - watching & waiting until the time was ripe... Best we can trace this “creation” event dates it at approximately 100,000 years ago. Our guardians watched over the small population of early “true men” for thousands of years in the isolated, paradise-like Atlantis. There, the Divine Designers educated them, nurtured them to grow and explore. The ability to use agriculture to enable permanent settlements was started in Atlantis, as were advanced language and
20
artistic skills. Early true men multiplied across Atlantis; then, starting about 50,000 years ago small vanguard parties of the true men began to move out into the wider earth where they initiated small outpost settlements. These ancient vanguards - our earliest true fathers went out in many different directions. Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East were the first destinations for establishing proto-civilizations. As the years went by, more parties departed Atlantis - to supplement and extend the populating of our planet. The new settling parties went in new directions - venturing into North & South America including Mexico and Central America. Others entered remote islands in the Pacific including Australia; some groups went to the same areas as previous settlers, to insure that a healthy population was developing. As the Designers saw that their efforts were succeeding they set forces in motion that would eventually destroy all traces of Atlantis. The first destruction is traced to approximately 45,000 years ago when Atlantis was divided into five major islands. At 28,000 years ago the earth’s magnetic poles shift and the Ice Age begins. Complete destruction of Atlantis occurred 9 to 10 thousand years ago. There is a tremendous volume of convincing evidence that supports the existence (and disappearance) of Atlantis. This body of evidence together with the extremely rapid ascent and global diversification of modern man argue strongly for Atlantis as the real Eden. There are also the countless religious traditions and ancient myths that contain many elements of this story; we are all familiar with the archaic flood stories from many early civilizations. One particular area that the author has studied extensively is the early use of Sound and Vibrational energy and the legacy of these vibratory healing secrets that are evident in many ancient civilizations - enduring even up to today. Amazing evidence exists revealing that Atlanteans used sound for inducing trances, for connections with divine spirits, to activate seeds for more plentiful crops, to create harmonious sounds to improve relationships, to terrify enemies, to contact the consciousness of plants, to tame wild animals by telepathic communication, for healing,

Does the Internet Tell It All? by Paul F. Fulk,
D.C., F.A.S.A. If you want to believe everything you read, the internet is the place to go. Unfortunately, everything you read is not always factual. My experience, having spent time in the laboratory of a research facility a number of years ago, is what I have read on the internet is not factual and often very untrue. It is a very good source of information, however, it may not be reliable. In reference to information about candida albicans, it was chuck full of information, that was not reliable. Candida’s job is the “B” vitamin absorption in the small intestine. The internet reveals that it is an overgrowth that is bad, which is true, but not in the small intestine. Its overgrowth is in the blood stream. There is a difference. It is a “good” bacteria that has a job to do. In the small intestine, it’s job is the absorption of “B’” vitamins. When it is no doing it’s function, is the cause for “ chronic fatigue syndrome”. “B” vitamins are like the oil and water in your automobile. You can drive for a short time without them, but not for long. When the body runs out of all it needs, It will slow down. This is not the manner in which it is explained. I have observed candida buds on the outside wall of red blood cells as well as white blood cells wall in the process of tearing the walls apart, dumping the contents of the WBCs and RBCs into the blood stream. Particularly the white blood cells, having been in the blood stream picking up bacteria, gets dumped back into the blood stream. This explains the function of lymphomas, which is a low white blood cell count. This function also explains the reason for many of the leukemias. This is not generally understood by the scientific community. But it does explain the reason for a depletion of WBCs and RBCs. The German medical community has been treating this situation for better than sixty years. That is why they are very successful in treating autoimmune conditions. Even though in the United States we can successfully treat these problems. Basically Dr. Hans Nieper, formerly of Hanover, Germany, explained to me how they have been very successful in treating these conditions using
22
specific enzymes to starve candida albicans out of the blood stream. This can also take away the possibility of cancer surviving. Taking away any food that the cancer is feeding on and alkalizing the tissue, stops cancer in the blood stream. When I was at the research laboratory in the 50’s, we had cancer cures that are still not on the market place. There are many products that were discovered, but could not be patented in the 1950s. If they are not patentable, they are not profitable. If they’re not profitable, they don’t make it to the market. All drugs are treated this way. Cancer is a $200,000,000 year business. The drug industry does not want to disturb such a profitable business by finding a cure. Billions of dollars have been spent researching the cause of cancer without any results. Genetic, the battle horse of oncology, is about to give up the ghost. It has already failed. Many labs have come and gone because genetics that have not turned up any new discoveries. Many other conditions are explained on the internet. MS or multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia used to be called myofibrosytis until the term was exhausted. So many are explained but most of them have remedies prescribed for certain drugs. You will note that I said “drugs”. All of which are synthetics. All drugs are made from synthetic materials. In other words they are not natural or organic products. They are usually derived from oil. Inexpensively made. That is why the drug industry is so wealthy. Therefore, what causes degenerative diseases, can be found under the microscope. Candida is the cause according to Dr. Odds, of all conditions that end in “it is”. In other words all inflammatory conditions and cancer are all caused by a fungus. It is a “good guy”, just in the wrong place. Candida has a job to do. Dr. Tullio Simoncini proved it causes cancer tumors. He treated it very successfully with a inexpensive product that was in every kitchen. So all these conditions that are explained on the internet, can be treated without expensive products. You can treat yourself and do not have to resort to drastic measures to get well. Dampness, Humidity,
Low Pressure Systems by Dr. Tommy R. Thompson
Traditional acupuncturists know dampness, humidity and weather changes, and season changes and how these can play out in the body and its function in health and disease. In the 5 elements of Acupuncture; dampness is a term used to describe the internal relationships based on tongue and pulse diagnosis. In the 5 elements of Acupuncture; Dampness is described in the earth element of the 5 element theory of health, it is the center it is late summer and involves the spleen and stomach, and I always look at pancreas in this element. Though traditionally it doesn’t mention the pancreas it could be lumped in with the spleen in body fluid function. Dampness can be a feeling of heaviness, fluid retention, achiness... Dampness leads to phlegm and then can turn into tumors and cyst formation. If you look at coronary artery disease, you will see that plaguing which is a form of phlegm, and if we look at the disease process of coronary artery disease, it’s a lifestyle of sugar and carbs consumption that drive this mechanism. In the west blood vessels begin to stick together and have a protein
binding situation called “glycosalation” this condition is why diabetics lose limbs and lose their sight. Circulation is slowed significantly, when blood flows CHI follows. So this is a very simple idea, if the circulation is slowed or reduced then chi doesn’t flow either, this type of scenario is what causes disease. Phlegm and blood stasis is the pathology of aging. Humidity is common and very high in the Midwest, low pressure is an example of how the weather patterns effect the human body; as people age and have injuries and when a dozen aging patients complain when the weather patterns change, I pay attention. Weather fronts moving through have huge electrical effects and are highly charged. We are at the bottom of the sea of air when the low pressure system sets down on us pain can occur. I compare the atmospheric pressure to a can of pop when you pop the top you release the pressure, then you see the carbonation bubble up. Now imagine the atmospheric pressure is like the pressurized co2 on the fluid in the can, until we pop the top, the atmosphere in high pressure holds fluid in the tissue, when storms come and the pressure is low we can feel achiness, pain swelling. Acupuncture can help these conditions, if you are interested in learning more contact our office and sign up for our intro to Acupuncture class coming in June. Nine Habits for Healthy Living by Jean Jeffers
The word is out! Taking care of your body, your mind, and your spirit will keep you healthier and younger. There are some accepted practices that contribute to good general health. These are kind of common sense good habits. If these behaviors are practiced on a regular basis, the chances of a longer and better life may not be guaranteed but will surely be supported. The following are some sure-fire health practices that may contribute to a better day tomorrow: 1. Eat at least five fruits and vegetables per day. These give you a number of antioxidants. Substitute beans for a few meat meals. Eat fish a couple of times a week. Cut back on sugar and eat light when it comes to consuming fat. 2. Drink six to eight glasses of water per day to maintain hydration. Try substituting green or white tea for some water as this drink has antioxidants
24
3. Take a multivitamin and a fish oil capsule daily. 4. Exercise at least 30 minutes daily. If overweight, try to lose at least 5% -10% of body weight as this weight loss alone will make a difference in health. Exercise helps to reduce and or maintain weight, it allows for increased levels of energy, and it keeps blood pressure, diabetes, and cholesterol numbers at more satisfactory levels. 5. Get 7 hours or more of good sleep each night. 6. Maintain a strong spiritual life. Use whatever practices are most comfortable for you. Use Fasting, prayer, reading the Bible or other spiritual works, or meditation. 7. Develop and enjoy healthy relationships. Having a close friend, a support group or family ties, all are important.

In addition, there are some other practices that may prove helpful in caring for our health: -Keep regularly scheduled doctor appointments. Develop goals to go along with your health and discuss these goals when seeing your doctor. -Keep a peaceful, neat and organized personal space. This may help maintain a sense of calm. -Learn something new each day. This keeps you “in the game.” -Attend to negative thinking. Practice by saying affirmations each day. -Write in a journal daily.

A Celebration of Family by Cindy Huff & Terri Noftsger The themes for this issue were family and celebration. We wrote about how animals celebrate in very simple ways in a 2010 issue of this magazine, so we instead thought we would focus on what we view the word “family” to mean within the context of animals and humans. We felt that this was also very timely given President Obama’s recent comments and the resulting discourse around the definition of family in our country. If we, as humans who live with animals, take a step back and broaden our perspective, we see that the term “family” describes a wide variety of groupings of individuals. I decided to start with looking up what www.dictionary.com defined as a family. This one seemed to fit a broader definition: “a social unit consisting of one or more adult’s together with the children they care for” I like this definition because it is broad enough to encompass our family – Terri, myself, 3 dogs, 3 cats, and 2 horses. We even broaden it out in a general way to include the wildlife and larger plants that live on our property (eg our Grandmother Oak). Together we are a social unit who care for one another. While Terri and I consider ourselves the “parents” or leaders of our family (the animals amuse themselves by allowing us to think this), we also understand that the animals we live with take care of and watch over US. Perhaps if you think of your own family, you may begin to see this dynamic as well. Whether we are speaking of human parents and children, a blended family of humans and animals, or a combination, we see that each being has her/his own role or job in the family. For example, in our family Terri is the one who deals with the rather unpleasant side effects of dog or cat illness (vomit, etc), whereas Cindy deals with any dead animals that appear on our deck or in our yard. Obi takes his job of WATCHER very seriously indeed, and will alert us by barking if someone walks down our road, and he also watches when we go outside. He worries when he cannot see us. He is training TJ, our new little dog, to do the

same. Our female cats will escort us to and from the road when we take garbage out or when we walk out to get the mail, especially at night. Lukas’ role is to love us, and to make sure we have LOTS of affection and cuddling. Our horses take care of us by making sure they know where we are when we are around them. In particular, Cindy’s horse Cheyenne will also make sure that she keeps her rider safe – that is her job as a horse that carries a rider. Cheyenne also has the job of watching over her horse herd and keeping them safe from harm. We feel it is very important to understand that our animals are integral members of our family unit. If we view them as thinking, feeling family members, then we begin to consider their needs (beyond food, shelter, and exercise) as important. I had a conversation today with a box turtle, and she talked about the importance of an interesting and stimulating living area for her. Her human had not initially understood this and kept her in a large aquarium. She now has a large indoor living area, as well as an outdoor area where she can eat grass, crawl on rocks, and be in the sun. She is much happier now because her human understands her need for stimulation in her environment. The other thing that happens is that we begin to understand and acknowledge the roles that our animals play in our family. We see what they do for US, rather than just what we do for THEM. Instead of a subordinate, parent/child type relationship, we begin to develop partnership and respect. Humans in the family do need to maintain leadership within the family – that is our job and responsibility. Animals that live with us live in a human run world with human rules. It is our job to make sure that they live safely within that construct. Leadership is not about domination and subordination. It is about loving, caring stewardship. As we celebrate Mother’s Day, remember those who have transitioned on Memorial Day, and enjoy the summer with our families, please remember to actively include your animal companions in the family activities in some way that is safe and comfortable for them. Enjoy the Sun!

New Book by Cincinnati Author Finds Hidden Meaning in the Ten Commandments
Available on Amazon and in local stores, the unusual book analyzes the structure of the ancient text to find insights beyond the list of ten rules.
And that map has a destination. His book also shows how the Ten Commandments chart a particular progression, a sequence of steps in the direction of knowing God.
Cincinnati author Peter Zelinski says there is more going on in the biblical Ten Commandments than just the list of ten rules that people typically see. As he came to appreciate this, he says he had to write about it. His newly published book is titled, The Ten Commandments: What Do Two Tablets Reveal About the Life of the Spirit and the Way Toward God?
Meanwhile, the two-tablet split also dramatically shows how the Ten Commandments point to a deeper pattern. On each tablet is five commands, with one command out of each set (the fifth commandment and the tenth) breaking out of the pattern of the other four. Plus, as Zelinski shows, one tablet was intended to be superior to the other.
“There is a message of love within those stone tablets,” Zelinski says. “There are principles for understanding your life ... and there is a progression to climb toward God.” All of this is contained within that concise text that the Bible says God gave to Moses. Zelinski’s unpacking of the commandments has produced what the book’s own preface admits might initially seem like “a crazy book about the Ten Commandments.” In this book, the commandments are not covered in numerical order, and not every commandment gets a dedicated chapter. That’s because Zelinski is interested in analyzing the interconnections between the commandments and the meaning implied within the way the commands are structured. He believes no other book on the Ten Commandments has ever treated the subject matter this way. One of the most iconic facts about the Ten Commandments is also one of the most significant, he says. Namely, God inscribed the commandments on two stone tablets. Not one, but two. Why? God could have put all the text on just one tablet, he says. “Presumably, God could have controlled the font size.” Exploring this two-tablet split, the author find dimensionality to the ancient text. The commandments line up, he says. Cross-connections between commandments on adjacent tablets reveal concrete and useful spiritual principles. He compares these principles to laws of physics, albeit applied to the human heart. “The commandments aren’t just a ‘not-to-do’ list,” he says. “They are a map.”

Zelinski says, “Two sets of five, with one member distinct from each set, and one of the sets of five dominant over the other—where else do we see this pattern?” Answer: In the human form, he says. Specifically, in the human hand. We have two sets of five fingers, one thumb in each set, and one hand dominant over the other. “Your hands conform to the same pattern as God’s law,” he says. “Imagine what that suggests ... what it says about how much this ancient text and humanity belong to one another, and how closely the text and human beings seem to fit something inherent to the way the universe was made.” The book is available on Amazon and at several locally owned Cincinnati bookstores. Find a link to the Amazon page and a list of the stores at www.peterzelinski.com. The author also posts frequently to his Facebook page at www. facebook.com/PeterZelinski.

Astrology by Mary
Gemini May 20 – June 21
The planets seem to have singled you out for this time frame, as Venus and Jupiter are joining the Sun in your sign, as well as an eclipse late May, so there will be a great amount of activity in learning skills, paper work, journeys or trips. Since both Venus and Mercury are going to be retrograde in Gemini, you might be looking back to make sure you have the facts straight before you plunge ahead. The possibility of overkill in all directions is here, so take a deep breath, and also some Vitamin B to calm the nerves.
a
Cancer June 22-July 22
A great deal of planetary activity highlights your house of illness, or perhaps just mental activity. Situations regarding siblings may surface, and an eclipse in late May could set that in motion. Some of you are definitely caught in the cross fire between home, career, and significant others. A full moon on July 3 will register as a push-pull time, and you will get a very clear picture of what the tension is all about. Then the new moon on July 19 will demand that decisions be made and action taken. Good thing for Cancers is that “tomorrow there is always another story!”
b
Leo July 22 – August 22
More personal matters, as opposed to conditions that come at you from outside, are what register here, and Mercury going retrograde in your sign, mid July, will find you taking a closer look at yourself, perhaps body-wise. Pretty soon the planet Jupiter will offer up some career moves, and you want to be ready for all good things. Pocket book expenses have been annoying (to say the
28
least), but will soon be over. Venus, a source of joy and increase, is helping you review your plans for the future, and some loving friends may encourage you.
c
Virgo August 22 – September 22
If you have been running true to form in the last few months, you have had your nose to the grindstone, but soon there will be a shift, and you could be more attuned to the potential in the career sector of your wheel. You could have had some serious health issues recently, but that is about over. For early Virgo, there could be significant others appearing, but don’t decide immediately to connect. You will have Mercury retrograde in July that could be helping you improve your self image, if not also your resume. Take credit for your great skills!
d
Libra September 22 – October 23
As one of the cardinal signs, you have been feeling many hard lessons in the last few years, but there appears to be light at the end of the tunnel, and these next few months show a delightful sense of possible journeys, visits with relatives, new learning experiences, and more social activity than ever before. There are still family and career issues that hang in for the early Librans, as well as surprises coming from significant others, but the fun times help to balance it all.
e Scorpio
October 23 – November 21
For mid-to-late Scorpios, you have been struggling with many issues that seem insurmountable, but in the near future much of this will be over. Necessary paper work
June / July 2012
is going on, but there is some help showing soon through friends. Mercury retrograde in July will bring in thoughts about new and exciting work to be done, and a full moon in early June will register this possibility. Soon there will be extra activity in a money house. There could be money spent for something you truly want and/or need.
f
Sagittarius November 22–December 21
and yet the soul knows to “keep the faith” and you will be reborn. Continue to work on concrete plans for the future, as this will help ground you. The next few months find home a scene of fast-paced activity, with much movement in and out. Major money issues still demand attention, but by now you pretty much have it licked.
^
Aries March 20 – April 19
Sag, you start this period with a lunar eclipse in your sign. This past year employment and health issues have been front and center, but now your area of partnerships is about to explode open with gusto! Just don’t get swept up with all the possibilities until you have examined carefully the people and the situations. Some of you may be looking at moving away, or have ailing parents. Don’t forget to check the pocket book, to see what you really can afford!
You have a lot on your plate, Aries. All of the cardinal points (self, others, home and career) are squaring off to make sure you are pulled in all directions at once. Your ruling planet, Mars, spends June making sure the facts are straight (or maybe a trip to see the doctor – stress related), and then in July the area of significant others comes in for its opinion as to what should be done. One redeeming feature here is that Mercury will spend longer than usual in the fun area, so take your recreation where you find it!
g
_
Capricorn December 21 – January 19
Some of you may be feeling that it is time to remake yourselves, with an emphasis on career matters that need to be evaluated. Have you been carrying a full load too long? But before things get easier, there will be lots and lots of activity in your labor house – ideas, paper work, short trips, and it may appear to be affecting your nervous system. Sudden changes may occur to parents or to home base. The full moon in early July will underscore the physical body.
h
Jupiter, planet of good fortune, will wind up a year-long stay in your sun sign, and will be entering your solar pocket book! Your ruling planet, Venus, is retrograde so take the time to review what comes in and what goes out. There is also a lot of energy in the area of ideas, learning, facts, possible short trips, siblings, etc. and that much activity could mean potential spending as well as getting. The planet of change is whispering in your ear, but right now it is difficult to decide exactly which direction to go!
Aquarius January 19 – February 18
Prepare yourself for a grand time coming in the area of recreation, romance, good times, children, etc. There will be more excitement than usual, but a voice in the background says to take it easy, and rethink the possibilities. You’ve been working hard behind the scenes, and that will climax soon, and then some real fun begins. You may find that money seems to be escaping rapidly, and you should take a little time to look over the bills.
i
Taurus April 19 – May 20
Pisces February 18 – March 20
You are, as stated before, going through some major shifts of consciousness, which are truly a bit difficult to deal with, the worst being a case of wondering if you should just “give up”,
